Smashbox Full Exposure Palette Review & Swatches

Hi Guys!

Well, as soon as I saw the new Smashbox Full Exposure Palette on the Boots site I knew I had to have it! It’s a gorgeous palette of seven matte and seven shimmer neutral shades. With a double ended brush and a deluxe mascara sample included, and a ‘Get the Look’ insert to help you create the right look for your eye shape. I already have the Naked 3 but a girl can never have too many palettes right!?

The casing has a sleek matte black finish with holographic lettering that shines different colours in the light 🙂

And look inside, it’s amazing! There’s a whole spectrum of neutral shades including browns, creams, taupes, silvers and a matte black. On first glance dare I say I’m preferring this over the Urban Decay Naked palettes!

This is what Smashbox has to say –

A set of universally awesome neutrals, including how-to’s for 6 eye shapes. It’s essential, effortless and enhanced for your shape!

  • Essential: 14 must-have neutral shades-from nudes to blacks, long-wearing shimmers to velvety-smooth mattes.
  • Effortless: With shimmers in the top row and mattes along the bottom, it’s easy to turn up or tone down the luster. Remember, when using the shimmer shades, be sure to apply by pressing down, rather than sweeping across lids.
  • Enhanced for your eye shape: Breakthrough eye shape chart to get your most gorgeous look.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
Just like you dress to flatter your body shape, makeup should be applied based on your eye shape. A look that’s amazing on your friend might not be great for you. So, after 9 years of research by our R&D team-who looked at more than 5,000 eyes!-we narrowed it down to 6 main shapes, and our artists created how-to’s based on the shapes to truly get your most gorgeous eyes with this palette.

The Full Exposure Palette was created because our pros at Smashbox Studios needed it. On set, they’ve seen every skin tone and eye shape imaginable, so they wanted a super universal, straightforward palette that works on anyone, anywhere-from big-deal photo shoots to behind-the-scenes selfies.

HOW TO USE IT
First, identify your eye shape by using the insert, or by visiting smashbox.com/fullexposurepalette to take an interactive quiz. Then follow the steps in the insert to get your best day, night or defined look. But don’t stop there! Play with various combinations of shimmers and mattes to find your ultimate shape-enhancing look-all 14 shades are flattering neutrals, so you can’t go wrong.

So here’s a close up of all the shadows, they’re simply named S1 to S7 (with S standing for shimmer) and M1 to M7 for the matte shades.

I’m really impressed with the pigmentation of these shadows, the colours are fabulous and I don’t think I could have chose them better myself!

So what are my thoughts? I want to say this palette is eyeshadow perfection but I can’t quite unfortunately. I love the colours, I love the pigmentation and I love the fact that there’s a mixture of matte and shimmer finishes, but… there was a fair bit of fall out on the shimmers I’m afriaid. Not enough for me to instantly post it back for a refund, but enough to make it not quite perfect. I found that using an eye primer helped a lot though and I think as long as I use a primer and pat the shimmer shades on I’ll be happy. It’s a shame there’s this slight let down but overall I’m a happy bunny 🙂

I’d love to hear if you have the Full Exposure palette? Did you have issues with fall out?

I hope you enjoyed my review xxx
