Soap & Glory Dark Circle Concealer vs Kick Ass Concealer | Review & Comparison

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! 🙂 You may have seen in my Boots Haul the other day, and that I picked up a fair few Soap and Glory products. I’m a complete newbie to the brand and was recommended their Kick Ass concealer as the perfect product to hide my dark circles. When I was shopping the brand for the concealer I saw they also offer a specific dark circle concealer called Trick and Treatment, so it obvs made sense to pick this up too so I could try them both out!

The products themselves couldn’t be more different, the Kick Ass Concealer is described as a ‘camouflage kit’ with two shades of cream concealer and a translucent powder, and the Trick and Treatment is a liquid formula with a wand applicator. Here are my initial thoughts on the products –

Ok so the Kick Ass Concealer is definitely a kit, you get three products in one here: an ‘eye brightening’ concealer which is a standard pinkish tone, a yellow toned concealer to neutralise any purple discolouration, and a translucent matte setting powder to finish off and fix everything in place. This all comes in a handy compact with a cute mini puff to apply the powder with which is a handy addition.

Soap and Glory says – ‘…Includes an amazing under eye brightening concealer with PUFFEASE-8â„¢ technology, SUPERWEARâ„¢ light scrambling ‘on the spot’ complexion concealer & a weightless transparent setting powder with INSTA-FIXâ„¢ polymer technology.’

The Trick and Treatment Concealer looked pretty standard from the outside, but when I inspected the wand, the product actually had a shimmer to it, which was pretty weird, it looked more like a highlighter! Hmm I don’t have my hopes up for this one!

Soap and Glory says – ‘A long-wear, light-reflecting, under-eye concealer/brightener. Features a special yellow pigment mix to neutralize dark purple under eye circles, includes soft-focusing spheres to minimize fine lines and is formulated with clinically tested levels of HALOXYLâ„¢ to help mobilize sluggish, dark under-skin pigment.’

So here are the results. The Trick and Treatment Concealer is on the left and the Kick Ass Concealer on the right. What a big difference hey! I know the images are slightly different in colour, this is due to the light changing when I took each photo – ignoring this though you can still tell that the Trick and Treatment has just highlighted underneath my eyes rather than concealed. What the heck? It’s completely weird and doesn’t make sense to me! The product density of the Trick and Treatment was pretty thin, not thick and pigmented like a concealer usually is, and it has a shimmer finish! Why??? I don’t want to highlight my dark cirlces thanks!! I have no idea how they came up with this product. Rather than bin it I may just start using it as a highlighter!

The Kick Ass Concealer on the other hand was fantastic! I used the pinkish colour first to conceal then dabbed some of the yellow product on top to make sure no pesky dark circles could be seen through, and I was more than happy with the finish. I then patted on the translucent powder with the cute mini puff provided and I was instantly transformed! I’m not usually one for a matte finish but this stuff really does the job! The powder in this kit really makes all the difference. I definitely can’t recommend this product enough!

So there you have it, a bit of an interesting on there! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried either of these products? Or what you would recommend to hide dark circles? xxx
