The Lipstick Game Changer.

Posted on September 29, 2014

Hi Guys!

Well, just look what I’ve got! Ever since I first heard about the NARS Audacious lipsticks last month, they have been at the very top of my wish list. If you saw my post where I mentioned the NARS Audacious Vault you’ll see what I mean. I fell completely in love.

I pre-ordered three – yes I managed to get my wish list of ten down to three! – lipsticks. I must confess there are still three others sitting in my basket at the moment, I have no idea how long I’ll manage to leave them there as I’ve now put myself on a spending ban (boo hoo). Anyway, this time I went for Annabella (red), Anita (nude) and Angela (fuchsia).

The Audacious lipsticks come in a matte black casing – but this time it’s not the usual NARS rubberised finish, the casings are metal – and when you put the lid on you realise they’re magnetised too, and these lipsticks have the most amazing click. I can’t even tell you. I haven’t found a lipstick lid click as satisfying as this before! And funnily enough, the three lipsticks didn’t like sitting together if I didn’t have them a certain way round, as the magnets kept repelling each other! 🙂

So, on to the Audacious formula. It’s described as –

A modern lipstick so shamelessly seductive in touch and texture the sensation is audacious. Unadulterated luxury glides on like satin across skin with single-stroke coverage. A spectrum of shades for unstoppable impact. One-stroke, full-coverage creamy wear, luxurious texture and enriched with ingredients to smooth and nourish lips.

And yeah they got it pretty much spot on!

So first up we have Annabella. If you’re a regular you’ll know I never show off my pearlies, mainly because they’re not particularly straight or white. Annabella though, is THE most perfect red, and it made my teeth look amazingly white. This has easily become an instant favourite for me. I have a heap of red lippies in my stash so I think I’ll do a comparison post soon!

Anita is a stunning nude, not too light or too dark, it is a beautiful muted rose shade that is perfect for every day wear. You can see just how amazingly creamy these lipsticks are too, the formula is one of the best I’ve come across.

And lastly Angela, this is a bright orchid / fuchsia shade, it’s verging on purple but not quite. If you’re a bit nervous of purple lipsticks, this would be a fab starter shade to ease you in before delving into a deeper purple. I actually tried this one first and decided it was my favourite, but since wearing the other colours they’re all so gorgeous in their own right now I’m actually in love with all three of these lipsticks! 🙂

The formula of the Audacious lipsticks really is perfect. It’s not often I use this word but I really cannot flaw them. They’re creamy, comfortable, long lasting, and the pigmentation is amazing! The only downside is the price, at £24 each they’re definitely classed as a luxury product, but I honest;y think they’re worth every penny.

The NARS Audacious lipsticks are available from Space NK and Lookfantastic.

So what do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts! xxx

Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 | Fragrance Review

Posted on September 26, 2014

Hi Guys!

As part of my little Liberty order the other week, I purchased the Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 30ml fragrance. Molecule 01 has been on my wish list for quite some time, I found the whole concept of the fragrance rather intriguing so when the opportunity came up to try it, I couldn’t resist!

Molecule 01 consists of one single ingredient, ‘Iso E Super’. If you know even the slightest bit about perfume, you’ll know that every other perfume in the world is made up of multiple ingredients or ‘notes’, so Molecule 01 is really unusual to only have one ingredient. On its own it is described as less of an aroma than an effect – the wearer may notice a pleasant, subtle velvety-woody note which will vanish, then re-surface after some time, but more than this, she or he will notice the impact it has on other people. Well how awesome and unusual does that sound!?

“Molecule 01 lends an indefinable radiance to the wearer,” says it’s creator Geza Schoen. In fact, its effect is almost pheromonic.

Well there you go, PHEROMONIC. So basically I’m going to be covered in pheromones then within mere seconds dripping with men? Sounds great! (don’t tell my husband…)

So what did it actually smell like? Well as it’s supposed to smell different on everyone I can only tell you the effect it had on me. At first sniff it came across as quite masculine, but not in a bad way. I wouldn’t say I loved it, or hated it, but it was definitely very different to any other scent I own. I did notice it kept re-appearing throughout the day though, whereas your usual perfumes fade, this would suddenly pop up out of nowhere and I’d be reminded again that I was wearing it, which was kind of a weird but fun effect! Unfortunately I wasn’t a man magnet though but I guess you can’t have it all… 🙂

Molecule 01 can be purchased from Liberty for £38.00 for a 30ml bottle. OR I have seen on ebay that you can get exactly the same fragrance – as it’s only made of one ingredient – but without the brand name. And it’s super cheap, £6.99 for 50ml anyone? It’s definitely worth a look for that price! Take a look here. This seller also has other options and sizes available if you take a look at their store.

So what do you think? Have you tried Molecule 01? I’d love to hear what you thoughts if you have!

I hope you enjoyed my review xxx

Makeup Revolution Eye Primer & Eye Dust!

Posted on September 25, 2014

Hi Guys!

I know it’s been a while since my last Makeup Revolution post so luckily for you I have another hit of MUR goodness for you today! 😀 I’ve got some gorgeous purple and brown autumnal shades to show you in the form of Eye Dusts, Single Eyeshadows, and the Aqua Seal Liquid Eye Primer.

So firstly, the Aqua Seal Liquid Eye Primer, £3.00. This really is a super handy multi-use product. It is of course a primer to keep your eyeshadow in place, on your eyes and not falling down your face, which it does very well. But you can also brush Aqua Seal lightly on top of your finished eyeshadow to seal as well as waterproof your look. Nifty! (Yes I just said nifty…) The product itself is a clear liquid which is easily dispensed from the dropper style tube, and you only literally need a drop, so even though this is a small sized tube it should last you a very long time. What excites me most about this though is Makeup Revolution recommend mixing the Aqua Seal Eye Primer with their Eye Dust, to create an ‘unbelievable foil effect’ – well I couldn’t not give that a go…

So here we have it! On the left is the Eye Dust in Levity, a lovely bright mid toned purple, on it’s own, and on the right is the same product mixed with a drop of Aqua Seal. Just look how much more intense the colour comes out! It’s like having two completely different products! You can’t tell so well from this picture but the Eye Dusts also have a fantastic high shimmer finish, which looks especially awesome with the Aqua Seal combo!

I did the same with the Eye Dust in Confront, a gorgeous muted purple with a high shimmer finish, and got the same effect! This picture shows a better representation of the super high shimmer ‘foil’ finish.

Also, I should tell you a bit about the Eye Dusts – they’re SO finely milled, there’s not a hint of glitter, and they’re pretty much amazing like coloured icing sugar! And they’re only £1 each too! Result!!

I also have two gorgeous autumnal shades of eyeshadow in I Wont Be Alone (top) and Cappuccino (bottom) I really love both of these shades, but Cappuccino especially as it’s such an easy to wear colour.

I can’t tell you how impressed I am with all of these products, apart from the fact that they’re great cosmetics in their own right, the Eye Dusts and Eyeshadows are only £1.00 each, and the Aqua Seal is only £3.00, these really are budget cosmetics at their best!

I’d love to hear what you think? Have you tried any of these products? xxx

My Friday Night Pamper Sesh!

Posted on September 24, 2014

Hi Guys!

Well I don’t know about you, but I decided last week that I was well overdue a pamper sesh, in fact I can’t actually remember the last time I had a chilled out evening treating myself to a bit of me time whilst using some lovely skincare products at my leisure. I’ve rooted through my stash to pick out a load of products to suit my pampering needs – including bath salts and a bath bomb, and of course a candle. A cleanser, mask and moisturiser, and eye and lip treatments.

So I’ll start from the beginning… First up was the Beauty Kitchen Wake Me Renewing Bath Salts* £9.95. The Wake Me scent is described as an ‘energising and uplifting zingy mix’ and that it is! The ingredients include – Mandarin green, orange sweet, grapefruit, benzoin resinoid, lemon and palmarosa, this is definitely a refreshing and energising combo! I threw a handful of the salts into the tub and waited for them to dissolve, and I was left with a lovely scented soak 🙂

Of course I can’t have a bath without a candle! So I went with my new The White Company Pomegranate Signature Candle £20.00. After being invited to the opening event in Norwich, The White Company has definitely become one of my new favourite stores! They have a fab candle and home scent collection which I couldn’t get enough of. The Pomegranate fragrance really grabbed me though and it’s definitely the strongest scented candle I own!

After my lovely bath I cleansed my face with  Super Facialist Tea Flower Purifying Cleansing Wash* £7.99. This mild cleanser is glycerin based to help retain moisture and includes elderflower to minimise pores, and also contains salicylic acid to refine and detoxify whilst washing away impurities. It works to clear congested skin of excess oils without irritating or stripping away vital oils needed to regulate the skin’s function. This left my skin with a lovely matte finish, and dare I say, I did feel like my pores had been reduced! Amazing! My skin felt thoroughly cleansed and was left with a lovely light, refreshing scent of orange and yang yang too.

Next up was the Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Face Spa Mask* £1.29. I’ve seen these masks in Superdrug over the years but never thought to try them, and now I have I wish I would have done sooner! For a teeny tiny £1.29 you get a fab open up cloth type mask that you simply press on your face to soothe and clam tired and stressed skin. This had a delicate scent and left my face feeling super smooth and silky and well hydrated.

I then used the Janjira Art of Siam Pomegranate & Acai Deep Moisturiser* £45.00. Janjira is a brand new brand to me, and I was instantly attracted to their Pomegranate & Acai range – it would seem I have a thing about pomegranate scents at the moment! This moisturiser is enriched with nutrients and super antioxidants, and boasts a cocktail of awesome natural anti-ageing ingredients. Pomegranate Extract and Acai Oil help prevent signs of ageing, Mushroom Extract reduces the appearance of pores and Macadamia Oil acts as a perfect moisturising agent. So this all sounds pretty good right? Well I have to say this moisturiser is fabulous! Apart from the fact that it smells divine, I slathered a thick layer on my skin and left it to soak in for a good 10 minutes, which was like a face mask in itself. I wiped off the excess and was left with beautifully soft skin. This is a gorgeous luxury product that’s definitely going to get a lot of use.

An then on to the eye treatment – Glamglow Bright Mud Eye Treatment £44.99. You usually get these in a set of 12, but I bought these two in a blog sale for a couple of quid so I could try them out. This is a 3 minute ‘instant’ eye treatment – I say ‘instant’ because Glamglow claim you should instantly see an improvement after use. They even recommend to apply to only one eye first so you can compare and tell the difference! I have really bad dark under eye bags and puffiness, so if this little pot of slime (it is like slime!) can improve that in 3 minutes, I’ll be VERY impressed. This treatment targets dark circles, puffiness, tired eyes and fine lines. It claims to be hydrating, brightening and plumping… so, I used this one one eye and I think I could see a slight difference but not that much unfortunately. I think I’ll have to try some more to see if they really work!

And lastly the Filorga Lip Structure 10ml* £32.00. Ok so my lips aren’t wrinkly just yet – there’s no Pat Butcher going on here – but if this stuff can plump them up a bit then I’m not going to complain! Lip-Structure is a double-effect serum that gives a volumising effect to the lips and filler action on the contour of the lips, to create a plumped up and beautiful mouth. Inspired by Filorga’s expertise in injectables, this is the first complete treatment for the lips and peri-oral zone (the area above the lips) to redefine and re-densify. For the peri-oral zone the applicator is a small tube and for the lips, it is shaped more like a flat plastic lip gloss applicator. I kind of expected my lips to tingle, as plumping products often give this sensation, but not this! Did they feel plumper though? Well yes they did a bit actually – maybe I need to continue using it a bit longer for better results though! My lips felt super soft and supple, like I’d just used the best lip balm ever! This is definitely a great pamper product!

Firstly if you’ve made it this far, well done and thanks for reading! I cut it my reviews down as much as I could!! In conclusion, apart from the Glam Glow which promised instant results but didn’t deliver, I was really pleased with all of these products, I should definitely pamper myself more often! 🙂

Have you used any of these products? I’d love to hear if you have.

I hope you enjoyed my review xxx

PR Samples – Keep Them, Sell Them, or Give Them Away?

Posted on September 23, 2014

Hi Guys!

Today I want to talk about a topic that comes up time and time again – PR samples. Firstly for those not in the know, some bloggers are lucky enough to receive PR samples (also called gifted products) to review on their blog in return for getting to keep the product. The question often comes up regarding what to do with these samples in the long run, as it did yesterday on Twitter where somebody was asking what people think about bloggers selling on their PR samples. I thought this was a great topic for discussion which affects most bloggers, and it’s definitely a subject that everyone has an opinion on. So here goes…

As a blogger that’s lucky enough and extremely grateful to receive PR samples, I think I fall in the minority when I say I believe it’s ok to sell them on – but hear me out, I think it’s ok in certain circumstances only. Firstly here’s an example where I believe samples shouldn’t be sold on… It was only the other day that I saw a blogger selling an item that was a brand new release, I checked her blog and read about how much she ‘really loved’ said product, but there it was, sitting in her blog sale only a few days after the post went live. Now in my opinion this isn’t right. So you really loved that item so much that you’re instantly selling it?? Hmm. Doing this completely invalidates her review of the product and also her credibility as a blogger. Personally I think this is a pretty bad move. So this, I disagree with.

On the other hand though – I haven’t sold any PR samples – yet – but should I want to sell something in future if it ends up laying around with my heaps of other makeup and skincare bits, surely I should I have the right to sell it? I do own it after all? Is it not mine to do as I please with? I own lots of makeup and skincare, and when I say lots I mean seriously LOTS. I have a slight addiction, combine this with hoarding issues and you might get an idea! So because I buy so many products, a fair few products that I genuinely love don’t actually get used up, and they end up in my ever growing stash. Should I keep them all until my house is held up solely by cosmetics? Should I give them away coz I’m such a nice person – or even bin them (what a waste!) Or should I sell them??

So what about in a situation like mine, where a blogger owns (for example) 15 foundations and say three of them have been PR samples over the last few months. She loves them all and has written positive reviews but some of them have to go as she’s running out of space. Is there anything worng with her selling the PR samples that she genuinely loved, along with her own products that she also loved? Well personally I say no, there is nothing wrong with this. The only thing I will say though, that regardless of the fact that her PR sample product reviews were genuine at the time of writing, if others see she is now selling those samples on, this may cast her in a bad light.

Personally though, I’ve always bought and sold things as required to meet my current needs. So, if I need cash I sell my assets. Simple as that. Wether this be my beloved Limecrime lipstick collection (sob sob), a designer bag (goodbye Miu Miu) or whatever. I sell things I own to generate cash when I really need it. I have responsibilities – a mortgage and a family to feed so I sometimes I have to sell things I love to bring in some dosh, is this so wrong? I would like to point out that I haven’t actually sold any PR samples as yet as I haven’t had the need to. But if the need really did arise then I would sell my entire makeup collection and the clothes off my own back (regardless of where they came from) along with anything else I own, if I really did need the money.

Also, I think it’s also important to remember, that when I say ‘PR samples’ this goes for everything – all types of bloggers. Not just beauty. Should popular fashion bloggers with ever bulging wardrobes have to give away their gifted clothes simply because they don’t have enough storage space? Or do you think they should have the right to sell them on without being judged? Why shouldn’t they make some money??

What about parent bloggers – when their little ones grow older should they give their gifted toys away? Or should they have the right to sell them on so they can buy their child some new toys with the money?

I don’t think I’ve ever written so many questions in a blog post! At the end of the day of course it’s down to personal preference. I’m sure some people will see where I’m coming from, and others will disagree and say that selling any PR samples under any circumstances is wrong. That’s cool, we’re all entitled to our opinions. I know this is a bit of a controversial topic, and my aim is not to upset anyone or ruffle any feathers! I personally believe people can do as they please and that we are all entitled to our own opinions. But saying that please be aware – if you do decide to sell samples on straight after reviewing them, this will most definitely be frowned upon by the blogging community – as well as PR’s, so do it at your own risk…

I’d love to hear what you think? Let me know xxx

The Budget Cosmetics You NEED For Autumn!

Posted on September 22, 2014

Hi Guys!

Ok so I’m finally admitting it, Autumn is upon us. No more sunshine, sunglasses, bikinis or sunscreen – not that I would ever wear a bikini – and now we’re left with just cold and miserable weather. Ok maybe I’m being a bit OTT but I feel like I kind of missed the summer as I work in an office, all the sunny days must have happened while I was stuck indoors! Boo!

Anyway I digress! So, while I’m coming to terms with the cooler weather I’m also starting to embrace autumnal beauty shades – namely browns and berry hues. The lovely guys at W7 have sent me some of their gorgeous new Autumn releases to check out and show you, which I’m really excited about as I haven’t used W7 cosmetics before!

First up is their Chunky Eyes eyeshadow pencils, in Coffee, Mocha, Cappucino and Latte. Yes there is a slight coffee theme going on here! These are all gorgeous, easy to wear shimmer shades ranging from cream to dark brown. The pencils give a beautiful shimmery finish, with a fantastic level of pigmentation.

How gorgeous are these colours though!? You can see they apply evenly – and easily, and have a lovely soft texture thats great for blending too. These pencils are a very reasonable £4.95 each so definitely worth stocking up on!

Next are the Butter Kiss lipsticks in Very Berry, Racing Red and Bordeaux. These are part of the Butter Kiss Reds collection and they’re £4.50 each. I have to say I am really impressed with these. As ever, my preconceptions of budget brands meant I wasn’t expecting too much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The formula is super creamy and moisturising, and also amazingly pigmented. The lipstick didn’t bleed or dry out my lips, and lasted a good few hours before I felt I needed to re-apply.

For £4.50 each, these lipsticks are a complete bargain too. Amazing! I feel W7 may be a bit of a dark horse on the cosmetics scene (can you tell I was writing this whilst watching X-Factor??) and I can’t wait to try some more of their products! I really love the Chunky Eyes and Butter Lipsticks, these need to be added to your makeup bag!

I’d love to hear if you have any W7 cosmetics and which products you’d recommend I should try? I hope you enjoyed my review 🙂 xxx

AMAZING HAUL! | Liberty Gift With Purchase!

Posted on September 21, 2014

Hi Guys!

If you’re a fan of Liberty you may have heard they had a fantastic gift with purchase (GWP) offer that started last week. With a beauty purchase of £150 or more they were offering £300 of beauty goodies for free! Well the thought of all those brand new products to try was just too much for me, so I had to take up the offer! And yes, all these amazing skincare products above were completely FREE! Space NK had a very similar offer shortly after, which I was very tempted to go for but I couldn’t really justify the purchases after spending so much at Liberty!

I know I know, yes, I had to spend £150 to get the goodies in the first place, but hear me out! My original plan was to take this as an opportunity to stock up on essentials… but actually instead I decided to try out some products I’ve been lusting after for a while, so this is how I’ve justified it to myself… 🙂

Firstly though, here’s a wee list of all the freebs…

  • Diptyque Candle in Roses, mini size 70g
  • Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick
  • Liberty Rose & Lemon Rind Body Wash 400ml

There’s some pretty awesome products in there so I’m a happy bunny! This little lot oughta keep me busy for a while!

And here are my actual purchases!

I went for the AESOP Alacrity Set, which includes –

  • Fabulous Face Cleanser
  • B & Tea Balancing Toner
  • Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream
  • Purifying Facial Exfoliant Paste

A 30ml bottle of Molecule 01 and an ESPA Mandarin Lip balm – which without me realising was already in the GWP set, DOH! Never mind, a girl can never have enough lip balms hey!

I won’t go into too much detail about the products as I want to have a chane to try them out properly first, then I’l probably write up some individual reviews for you. 🙂

So what do you think? Do you think this is a good deal? And did you go for it yourself? Let me know! xxx
