Following on from my earlier Kate Spade New York gift guide, I’ve also put together a few luxury gift ideas covering fragrance, makeup and skincare to hopefully give you some inspiration for Mother’s Day…
Firstly, how could you not love this little guy! This is ‘Stevix’ as named by Freddy (I asked him if he meant ‘Stephen’ and he said ‘NO, Stevix!’ Fair enough.) And he’s definitely the closest we’re going to get to an actual dog in our little house! Stevix, is of course a sweet little hand painted pug vase, with the cutest grumpy face I’ve ever seen. He costs £45.00 and you can find him at Joy the Store on their home and gifts page.
And what would Mother’s day be without perfume? I often buy perfume for my Mum, and they’re always very well received. I’ve gathered a selection of lovely fragrances today including three very different scents to suit different tastes –
Starting with Les Cocottes de Paris – La Belle Otero. This beautiful fragrance would suit vintage lovers, history buffs, and of course fans of niche fragrances.
La Belle Otero is actually one of a trio of fragrances from Les Cocottes de Paris – which are based on the lives of a group of extraordinary Parisian women born in the 1800’s. Crowned the ‘Queens of Paris’, the Cocottes entertained, seduced, and made headlines across the city. These scandalous icons were the inspiration for this new range of fragrances.
La Belle Otero (1868 – 1965) – The singing, dancing, pleasure seeking Agustina Otero Iglesias was born in Spain but it was in Paris that she found fame and fortune as her alter ego La Belle Otero. She soon grew to be the most sought after women in Europe and devoted her life to dancing, men, precious stones, gambling and parties…..(sounds like my kinda gal!) It’s no surprise then that her fragrance is an invitation to misbehave! La Belle Ottero has top notes of Neroli, Pepper, Absinthe, Fig and Ginger, heart notes of Violet, Musk, Lavender and Narcissus, and base notes of Frankincense, Sandalwood and Iris.
Les Cocottes de Paris are priced at £80.00 for 100ml EDP, from Cologne & Cotton 0845 262 2212.
For a more modern fragrance I’d highly recommend Dsquared2 Want (£71.00 for 100ml) This oriental floral scent is inspired by ‘The Multi-faceted Modern Woman’. Think feminine, yet gentle and strong, she’s also glamorous but edgy, spontanious and dynamic yet resourceful. Want aims to capture the many sides of the female personality, mixing confident sensuality with glamour and fine tailoring.
Dsquared2 Want includes top notes of Mandarin, Ginger and Pink Pepper, heart notes of velvety Rose Damascena, Heliotrope and Nerolito, and base notes of warm Vanilla Madagascar, Absolute of Vanilla Accord and rich Violet Wood.
And the last of the fragrances – Trussardi My Scent (£73.00 for 100ml) This is a beautifully crisp floral fragrance, it’s a very girly and delicate scent, yet slightly unusual, evoking the essence of femininity.
My Scent is described as young, dynamic, and cosmopolitan. I’d say she’s more fun, flirty and outgoing though, perfect for fans of lilac and florals, My Scent has top notes of Nashi Pear and Smiling Flowers Bouquet, heart notes of Lilac and Rose Buds, and base notes of Serenolide, Cashmeran and Heliotrope.
Now on to beauty! A fancy lipstick will always be a hit on Mother’s Day, so why not treat your mum to a bit of Charlotte Tilbury? The lipstick I’ve included is the gorgeous Matte Revolution Miss Kensington shade from the limited edition Norman Parkinson collection. I’ve just found out this is no longer available but if you love this beautiful nude rose nude, Bitch Perfect (£23.00) is a fantastic alternative.
Moving on to skincare, I had to include Pestle & Mortar Hydrate (£38.00) – I’m a big fan of Pestle & Mortar’s first product, their Pure Hyaluronic Serum, and their new moisturiser is just as fantastic. Suitable for all skin types, this lightweight moisturiser is formulated with a mixture of patented peptides to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Naturally moisturising ingredients, including jojoba and squalane instantly make skin softer and firmer while powerful antioxidants including pomegranate, green tea and Vitamin E help fight free radicals.
For fans of face oils, Pixi Rose Oil Blend (£26.00) is a must have. It’s a luxurious, ultra-nourishing oil that promises to rejuvenate, restore and renews skin’s luminosity. It’s also infused with powerful youth-preserving oils to help improve skin’s elasticity, including Sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils nourish the complexion, leaving it comforted & smooth to the touch.
And for those on the hunt for the ultimate eye cream, Transformulas Marine Miracle EyeZone Cream (£41.95) is definitely worth checking out. Apart from looking pretty awesome with it’s futuristic spherical chrome packaging, the Marine Mircale EyeZone Cream also promises to restore the condition of skin tissue around eyes (and lips) by feeding it with powerful, age-defying and ultra-concentrated aldavine.
It’s worth noting that this powerful ingredient has been proven in 100% of tests to visibly reduce dark circles and eye puffiness. It also works on wrinkles and fine lines leaving the complexion smoother and more comfortable with improved resilience and elasticity.
For nail polish fans, how about the Eve Snow Nail Polish in Blossom (£14.00) – Eve Snow isn’t the biggest nail polish brand out there, but don’t overlook them because of this. The Beautiful Blossom nail polish is a subtle muted pink with a hint of lavender, it also contains nourishing Marula Oil, Equisetum Extract and Vitamin B12.
And lastly, I had to include my favourite ever makeup brushes, the Zoeva Rose Gold Vol.2 Luxury Brushes (£56.95) – these brushes not only look beautiful, but they also work fantastically well. I love that the range is massive, including individual brushes as well as sets – and I should probably mention there’s also now a stunning Rose Gold Luxury Set Vol.3 out too!
I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
