Illamasqua Metamorph Collection Beyond Powders

illamasqua-beyond-powders-review

Hi Guys!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have seen my little teaser post yesterday after an exciting looking package arrived from Illamasqua. Well I can now reveal that inside the box were two of their brand new Beyond Powders! Seriously – how gorgeous are these highlighters though?

The Beyond powders are part of the brand new Metamorph collection (I’ve also reviewed the Vital Eyeshadow Palette from this collection here) and they are most definitely the stand out products from this range. Metamorph is all about emphasising your natural features – eyes are subtle, with neutral shades of matte eyeshadow, lips are nude (the are no lip products in this collection) and the complexion is dewy, radiant and glowing.

illamasqua-beyond-powder-omg-review

So the Beyond Powders come in two shades – the lighter shade OMG is shown above, and Epic, which is slightly darker, is shown below. OMG is the most wonderful pearlescent highlighter for fair skin tones. It’s kind of a light peachy champagne shade – and it’s SO wearable. It’s perfect for highlighting the cheek bone, brow bone, and cupids bow.

illamasqua-beyond-powder-epic-review

And look at Epic! This shade is just stunning – it seems to catch the light better in the pan than OMG but this may just be due to how it’s been pressed. Epic is a warm pinkish copper shade – it’s too dark a colour to use as a highlight on my fair complexion – but this could be the perfect golden highlight for those with darker skin tones.

I thought I’d also hold both in the light so you can see how the sun catches them – they’re just so pretty!

I also wanted to mention that even though these powders are technically classed as highlighters, you can really use them however you please. OMG works fantastically well in the inner corner of the eye as a highlight, and epic worn over the lids is SO pretty. Both can also be lightly dusted over the body for a luminous or golden glow, or applied more heavily to emphasise pretty much any area you like.

And lastly, of course the swatches. Now I have to tell you, these swatches really don’t do the products justice at all – I tried taking them outside in direct sunlight and my camera just wasn’t playing. This shot was taken inside in my kitchen, there was sunlight coming in but not directly on my arm as you can tell. I was in two minds wether to include these swatches or not, I decided I would but I’m also going to take some more photos tomorrow. I’ll tweet when I’ve added them to the post 🙂 Both shades really do look amazing when they catch the light! (If you want to see better swatches, there are some on both light and dark skin on the Illamasqua site – linked below)

Ok here’s a better photo I’ve just took – look how they catch the light!

illamasqua-beyond-powders

So what do you think? I’m officially in love! I’m using OMG to highlight my face at the moment, and can’t wait to get my tan on in the summer and cover myself with Epic too 😀

The Beyond Powders are £32 each and available from Illamasqua now.

I’d love to hear which highlighters are your favourite? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

My Mall Box US to UK Shipping Review

Posted on April 27, 2016

my-mall-box-review

Hi Guys!

Isn’t it just the biggest pain when some of your favourite US brands just don’t ship to the UK? (Colourpop for example) and others that do ship here, charge an extortionate amount for postage – Too Faced, I’m looking at you, seriously a minimum of £15 for shipping, without even adding taxes is just ridiculous!

This is where My Mall Box comes in – this company offers the perfect solution to our US shopping woes. My Mall Box is basically a shipping company that you can use to deliver items from the US that you may not be able to get otherwise – what a genius idea!

So how does it work? Well it’s very simple, you sign up to their site (which is free of charge) and MMB will assign you your very own US postal address. This is basically a PO Box at their warehouse which you can then use as your shipping address on your US orders. Simple!

My Mall Box invited me to test out their services to see if it really was all it’s cracked up to be. So let me talk you through my experience –

I decided to order a few beauty bits (of course) and ended up with a Sephora order, a Marc Jacobs order and a LA Splash order. When making my Sephora order, I thought everything was ok until I went to find out where my parcel had got to as I’d received no updates, and they had cancelled the order without informing me. It turns out Sephora do not allow orders to PO boxes. Now I know what you’re thinking – why didn’t I just order from Sephora and have them ship direct to the UK, because they can and will ship here. Well I just wanted to see if it would work out any cheaper via MMB when it came to shipping and taxes really. Though I couldn’t get Sephora to deliver to my US MMB address, luckily My Mall Box offer a ‘buy for me’ service. This is where they literally buy the item for you and hold it at your MMB address until you arrange for it to be shipped on to you. I did wonder why on earth anyone would want to use it to begin with (as there is a small fee per transaction) but in this instance it was the perfect solution.

So this was lesson number 1 – Sephora will possibly cancel your order if you use your MMB address as your postal address. Now I say possibly as this happened to me, but I’ve heard of others that have successfully had their Sephora orders sent to MMB. To be on the safe side, if you’re desperate to get your hands on that must have item, My Mall Box will buy it for you.

I know what you’re thinking – BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FREEBIES? Regular Sephora shoppers will know that you get a minimum of three freebie samples per order, well the good ol guys at My Mall Box will also include these in your order, but you must specify when completing the ‘Buy for me’ information which ones you want.

I also fancied picking up a few Physicians Formula bits from Ulta, so I tried to place an order there too, but the issue here was that their system wouldn’t accept my payment method as I’m in the UK. I ended up going with a rather gorgeous product from Marc Jacobs in the end, but I could have got My Mall Box to ‘buy for me’ from Ulta if I’d really want them to.

The only downside that I can see with the buy for me feature, is that the My Mall Box team have their own accounts at various stores, so many of you will know with Sephora and Ulta, the more you purchase the more your points you will receive – well you’ll miss out on points as the orders aren’t on your own account. It’s not necessarily the end of the world but I think this is definitely worth mentioning.

Ok so I ordered a couple of STUNNING Laura Mercier Highlighters from Sephora, which I got My Mall Box to buy for me, as well as a Marc Jacobs highlighter direct from Marc Jacobs – these items aren’t available in the UK yet so I thought I’d treat myself! I also ordered some LA Splash liquid lipsticks which I bought ‘myself’ by just adding my MMB address as the shipping address – reviews will be coming up of everything very soon!

One thing I like is that My Mall Box keeps you informed every step of the way, when they have placed an order for you, and when the package arrives with them. I waited for all my orders to be delivered then asked MMB to ‘Repackage’ everything. This basically means they open all your packages and re-package them into one box – which will save you money on shipping.

You are also given different shipping options, of course the faster ones are more expensive, and my parcel ended up costing $32 via DHL express service, and it only took a few days to arrive, which I thought was fantastic.

If you’re thinking of ordering from the US and fancy saving yourself some money, please feel free to sign up to My Mall Box via my referral code here, this will give you a credit to your account for your first use.

I think I’ve covered everything but if you have any questions please feel free to ask away in the comments and I’ll try my best to answer.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Kiko Limited Edition Summer Trend Collection

Posted on April 26, 2016

kiko-wanderlust-collection-review

Hi Guys!

Kiko’s latest limited edition collection has just launched, and as ever, it’s just to die for! The Summer Trend collection is simply beautiful, and in my opinion it’s one of the best limited edition collections from Kiko as yet…

The Summer Trend collection is inspired by the passion for travel – it’s about finding your inner free-spirit and embracing adventure. The products focus on a flawless, sun kissed complexion, with well-defined eyeliner, brightly coloured eyeshadow and volume-boosting mascara. Lips are accentuated by the shiny, bold lipsticks and hydrated with glossy lip oils. This collection also includes two EDT fragrances, as well as brushes and makeup bag.

The packaging created for this collection really is everything. Designed by Ross Lovegrove, the product casings are finished in a warm metallic gold with a delicate, textured pattern. This makes the products feel wonderfully luxurious, with small additions such as the magnetic closure on the lipsticks adding that special touch.

Kiko-Wanderlust-Desert-Dunes-Trio-Baked-Blush-Review

Let’s start with the Desert Dunes Trio Baked Blush in 01 Lust Coral (£16.90) – this is a gorgeous and generously sized baked blusher combining three different shades for a customised effect. The baked formula is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E, and lightly scented with vanilla. 01 Lust Coral is a beautiful trio of coral shades, giving and intense yet sheeny flush colour on application, which can easily be built up and intensified, or worn with a light hand for a sheer look.

Kiko-Wanderlust-Desert-Dunes-Baked-Bronzer-Review

The Desert Dunes Baked Bronzer in 210 Sienna Melange (£22.90) is a wonderfully large bronzer, comprising of two different shades mixed together in a single product to give the face a natural, tanned look. Again, the formula is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E with a vanilla scent. 210 Sienna Melange is the darker shade of the two available (and too dark for me unfortunately) but it gives a lovely sheen and sight sparkle when applied. This would be perfect for those with mid to dark skin tones.

Kiko-Wanderlust-Mirage-Lip-Stylo-Review

Next is the Mirage Lip Stylo in 09 (£13.90) – this is a beautifully bold pink shade with a high shine finish. Kiko has designed this lipstick to offer the benefits of three products in one – the colour payoff of a lipstick, the shine of a gloss and the comfort of a balm – and I think they’ve succeeded really well! The formula is creamy and comfortable on the lips, and the finish is glossy and intense. This is going straight in my makeup bag.

Kiko-Wanderlust-In-The-Shade-Eyeshadow-Kajal-Review

The In the Shade Kalaj & Eyeshadow in 06 Black & Shell (£9.90) – this is the first of two In the Shade Kajal & Eyeshadows I have, one end of this one is a deep black Kajal and the other a light nude skin tone pink eyeshadow pencil. The kajal pencil is perfect more smudged looks rather than precise lines, just because it’s chunky in size. The liner is a gorgeous deep black, I’ve worn this applied quickly and smudged out for a smokey look.

Kiko-Wanderlust-In-The-Shade-Eyeshadow-Kajal-2

And the In the Shade Kalaj & Eyeshadow in 03 Turquoise & Pearly Brown (£9.90) – I love the shimmery turquoise shade here, it’s so pretty and summery! It also works really well with the brown eyeshadow too, which has a hint of gold sparkle to it. It’s worth mentioning that these pencils also have great staying powder – I’ve worn each of them for a day without the product moving at all.

Kiko-Wanderlust-Out-of-Bounds-Eyeliner-Pen-Review

And lastly the Out of Bounds Eyeliner Pen (£8.90) – I’m a big fan of ‘felt tip’ style eyeliner pens for precision eyeliner application rather than liquid liners. The Out of Bounds Pen is just perfect – I can’t even tell you how much I love this! The product formula is an intense, jet black, with a flexible pointed tip that makes application as easy as it it possibly could be. The product itself has a thin, liquid formula much like an actual felt writing pen, it also dries quickly and lasts all day – perfect!

Well, what a stunning collection! Remember these are all limited edition – so once they’re gone, they’re gone. You can pick them up now from Kiko stores and Kiko.com – go treat yourself!

Floris London Bergamotto Di Positano

Floris-London-Bergamotto-di-Positano-2

Hi Guys, happy Monday!

You’ll probably know by now that I’m crazy about perfume, and there’s nothing more thrilling to a fragrance fanatic like myself than discovering a new brand! Floris London are new to the blog, and new to me, and I’ve been trying out their latest launch, Bergamotto Di Positano this week…

Floris-London-Bergamotto-di-Positano

This scent really is perfect for the coming summer, it’s bright and fresh, yet warm with a comforting element that just makes you want to recline in the sunshine with a nice cool drink. Bergamotto Di Positano is in fact a unisex scent, which I love on myself and I think I’d love it equally as much if my husband wore it too – I’ve yet to ask his opinion but I have a feeling he’ll be a fan.

This Eau de Parfum has a wonderfully distinctive citrus note, whilst being neither sweet and feminine, nor masculine in any way, this fragrance perfectly evokes the warmth of a Mediterranean sea breeze, sunshine and clear shimmering water. It’s like a Medeterranean holiday in a bottle! This fragrance is also actually a relaunch from the April 2015 limited edition By Request into the current Private Collection, unsurprisingly due to popular demand.

Floris-London-Bergamotto-di-Positano-4

A bit of background on the fragrance – Bergamotto di Positano was created in homage to Charles Joseph Pagliano, who in the early 19th century left the the small fishing village on the Amalfi coast to travel to England and marry his sweetheart Mary Floris – who was a key member of the Floris family, living and working for many years at the business premises, 89 Jermyn Street.

And some more on the fragrance notes –

Fresh bergamot entwined with mandarin and warm marine notes brings instant refreshment. The heart is a vivacious combination of orange blossom with a hint of vanilla, which lends a smooth character and creaminess to complement the initial sparkle. Base notes of wood, amber, ambrette and ginger provide the fragrance with a mellow warmth, reminiscent of a Mediterranean evening.

Floris-London-Bergamotto-di-Positano-review

For my first experience of Floris London fragrances, I really am beyond impressed. I can’t wait to try out some more of their perfumes now!

Bergamotto Di Positano is £120 for 100ml, and will be available at Floris London from May.

New For Spring: Clinique Pop Artistry Collection

Posted on April 22, 2016

clinique-pop-artistry-collection

Hi Guys!

Happy Friday 🙂 I have some gorgeous products from Clinique’s latest Pop Artisty collection to share with you today – Pop Artistry is all about pops of colour for eyes, lips and cheeks, including new Pop Lacquers, Glazes, Oils and Eye Shadows. The newest lip additions to the Clinique Pop collection range from pretty pops of sheer colour to full coverage and high shine, creating endless ways to make lips pop!

clinique-pop-artistry-collection-review

Left to right –

  • Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer in 09 Nude Pop
  • Pop Lip Colour + Primer Rouge Intense in 02 Bare Pop
  • Pop Lip Colour + Primer Rouge Intense in 01 Nude Pop
  • Pop Lip Colour + Primer Rouge Intense in 04 Beige Pop
  • Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in 07 Sugar Plum Pop

You can see there are three different types of lip product here – a gloss, a lipstick, and a sheer lipstick. Starting with the gloss – the Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer (£16.00) – this is a wonderfully thick lacquer with high intensity colour. I love that it moisturises lips leaving them feeling silky smooth, without any stickiness whatsoever. This product comes in 10 shades from creamy nudes to bold red, sweetheart pink and deep purple.

The Pop Lip Colour + Primer (£16.00) includes a massive selection of 24 shades, again ranging from nudes to more intense pinks and reds. The Pop Lip Colour + Primer lipsticks have a beautiful lightweight formula that applies easily with one sweep, leaving bold colour with a velvet finish. Clinique promise this product will keep lips comfortably moisturised for up to 8 hours – I haven’t worn them for that long myself but they definitely make my lips feel supple and moisturised, which is always a winner if you’re prone to dry lips like I am.

And the Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer (£16.00) – this is basically a sheerer version of the above Pop Lip Colours. Perfect for those looking for a touch of colour that isn’t too intense, the formula contains Shea and Murumuru butters to provide superior moisture, and a combination of emollient oils to provide shine, slip and cushion. Inspired by candy, this lineup includes six pretty shades that give a beautiful shine and sheer colour payoff.

clinique-pop-artistry-lid-pop-swatch

And lastly, the simply stunning Lid Pop in 08 Petal Pop (£15.00) – the Lid Pop collection includes a range of eight nude to bold coloured eye shadows with a silky, long-wearing formula, designed to deliver an instant pop of colour. I’m completely in love with 08 Petal Pop, apart from the beautiful almost iridescent peachy sheen this gives, the formula is wonderfully buttery as well as luxuriously lightweight and silky smooth to the touch. This eyeshadow applies like a dream, and this particular shade would also be perfect as a highlighter too.

Overall I’m beyond impressed with these products, I may have to snap up a couple more of the eyeshadows I think!

The Clinique Pop Artistry Collection is available now from House of Fraser. I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Intu #TrendOnTrial Makeup Looks Roundup

Posted on

Hi Guys!

If you follow me on social media you may have noticed a few posts over the last month or so that I’ve done in collaboration with Intu. They asked me if I’d like to share my own versions of their #TrendOntrial looks, so I thought I’d put together a little round up post so you can see and read about all the looks in one place. I’ll put Intu’s video tutorial at the top, and my take on each of the trends underneath –

Electric-Blue-Eye-Look_post

Out of all of the #TrendOnTrial looks, Electric Blue Eyes was easily my favourite. I’ve always had a thing for blue eyeliner, and I really went to town with this look! Intu actually used blue eyeshadow in their version but I decided to stick with my trusty blue eyeliner pencils. Blue eye looks are surprisingly easy to wear, and if you’re a bit wary of full-on blue eyeshadow, a flick of electric blue eyeliner is a fantastic and easy way to wear the trend.

For this look I used my Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in Bleu Neon – this is a long time favourite of mine which I’ve purchased time and time again – I highly recommend Bourjois eyeliners for value for money and they also offer a great range of colours. I used this to create a nice flick, as well as lining the lower lashes too. I then added a thin line of metallic liquid eyeliner on top, this was the Bourjois Liner Clubbing Liquid Eyeliner in Electric Blue, and for my waterline I used my MAC Hi-Def Chromagraphic Pencil in Cyan which is the brightest sky blue. I then finished off the look with black mascara. I love experimenting with colour, and I’m really pleased with how this came out!

bronzed-goddess-look_post

Next is the Bronzed Goddess look, this is also really easy to pull off for anyone. Intu’s take on this look included shimmery bronze eyeshadow and of course bronzer and highlighter for a gorgeous sun kissed look – I’m pretty pale so I do love to give myself a healthy looking glow with bronzer in the summer. I used a good dose of powder bronzer for this looks as well as my Rodial Instaglam Deluxe Contouring Powder to sculpt. Gold and bronze shimmer eyeshadows are perfect for summer too and look great with any eye colour and any skin tone – I highly recommend Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze – it’s a beautiful metallic bronze that really does last all day. I got a few comments the day I wore this looks saying I ‘looked well’ – which basically meant I wasn’t as pasty as I usually am! 🙂

cool-girl-grunge-look_edited-post

And lastly Cool Girl Grunge – this look is all about intense black eyeliner and a deep plum lip, for a gorgeous sultry look. Intu went with a smudged eye for theirs, whereas I preferred to keep the eye look here a bit cleaner and sharper – either works really well though. I love deep colours on the lips too – the darker you go, the more striking the look! I decided to go easy on the base here, with no blush, bronzer or contour, and just use foundation, powder and concealer for a flawless complexion. I think this look is perfect for evening where I’d add some gorgeous fake lashes to glam it up a bit too.

Overall, you can probably guess the Electric Blue Eyes look was my favourite – this is also now my new profile picture on my social pages 🙂 I’d love to hear what you think of these looks!
