Fragrance: Philosophy Pure Grace Summer

Posted on June 29, 2016

Hi Guys!

When the post arrived at my house a few days ago, and I noticed one of my packages was rattling like crazy – I could hear lots of small sounding bits moving around – my first thought was oh dear, something has definitely smashed in transit…

Well how surprised was I when I opened the box to find a mini deck chair, teeny tiny beach accessories, a zillion shells (hence the rattling) and the latest fragrance from Philosophy! This is probably one of the most fun PR packages I’ve received in a long time! I hope you like my little seaside scene set up 🙂

So the fragrance – Philosophy’s Pure Grace Summer is a limited-edition scent inspired by the spirit of a beautiful summer day. Described as warm, pure and breezy, it evokes feelings of summer sunshine and warm rays hitting the skin. The top note of coconut water immediately makes me think of suncream and hot foreign vacations, mingled with Citron Zest for a juicy and fresh initial hit. The floral heart of Dune Rose blends with a hint of Cocoa Absolute, leading to the soft warm base of Vanilla, light Solar Musk and Sandalwood. Anyone that loves warm summers fragrances will definitely love this.

It’s a warm breeze on your face, a whisper in your ear, as it beckons you toward the sunshine. Soak in its carefree warmth, as each ray of sunlight makes you feel pure, whole, and new again. This is freedom. This is grace. Because when your heart is filled with grace, every day feels like summer.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, Coconut Water and Citron Zest.
  • Heart Notes: Dune Rose and Cocoa Absolute.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Solar Musk and Sandalwood.

Philosophy Pure Grace Summer is £33.00 for 60ml and available now at John Lewis stores.

I’d love to hear which fragrances you’re enjoying at the moment?

NEW L’Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balms #SuperBalm

Posted on June 28, 2016

Hi Guys!

The latest offering from L’Oreal Paris has just landed – the Infallible Sexy Balms!

The idea of a Sexy Balm (which I do feel a bit silly saying if I’m to be honest) is that it’s an on-the-go, wherever-you-are, throw it on and Bob’s your uncle kind of product. This isn’t a precision application lip product, it’s super easy to use as well as being packed with a ton of moisture to keep lips feeling nothing less than fabulous for up to 12 hours.

The Sexy Balm formula is enriched with a moisturising gel balm, giving a weightless silky velvet texture and vibrant pigmentation, for colour that packs a punch. And there are two finishes available – Sheer for a subtle tint of moisturising colour, and Bold for a more intense and daring look.

The Sheer Colour Sexy Balms come in five shades –

  • 102 Gossip – a light nude peachy pink.
  • 103 As If – a mid nude pink.
  • 104 Break the Rules – a muted coral pink.
  • 109 Such A Babe – a bright orange toned red.
  • 111 Go Pretty or Go Home – a bright purple toned fuchsia.

The Sheer shades are amazingly moisturising, just like a lip balm, and they smell super sweet and juicy. If you have dry lips like I do these are definitely a must have for your handbag this summer! I’ve been trying out a couple of shades since yesterday and I haven’t needed to apply an actual lip balm once – I usually apply balm at least once or twice a day – so these definitely get a thumbs up from me.

And the Bold Colour Sexy Balms come in three shades –

  • 202 Adventure – an intense bright fuchsia pink.
  • 204 Never Stop – a bright orange coral.
  • 203 Yala Yolo – an intense bright blue toned red.

The Bold shades are amazingly bright and intensely pigmented, with a satin sheen finish. These are also surprisingly moisturising and feel really comfortable on the lips.

I have to say the Sexy Balms are definitely one of my favourite L’Oreal products of late, they tick all the boxes for me – moisturising, easy to use and wear, and I love that L’Oreal have included two formulas for both sheer and full on looks.

L’Oreal Sexy Balms are £4.99 each and available now at Boots.

10 Products You Need in your Bathroom! Soap & Glory / Estee Lauder / Melvita & More!

Posted on June 27, 2016

Hi Guys!

Summer is now upon us… well kind of. And I’ve decided it’s about time I have a clear out in my bathroom – out with the old and in with the fresh and new! I’m terrible for keeping hold of old products with just a bit left at the bottom, promising myself I will use them up properly before I bin them. It never happens though and I just end up with a bathroom full of mostly empty bottles. Tell me I’m not the only person that does this!

Anyway, I’ve been having a clear out and I thought I’d talk you through some of my latest bathroom additions…

I was so excited when these fabulous new Shower Jellies from Soap & Glory arrived unexpectedly (£5.50 each at Boots) – I’d never even heard of let alone tried a shower jelly before, so I couldn’t wait to see what these were like. The jellies have a juicy gel like texture that quickly melts on wet skin, giving a lovely sudsy lather. They come in two mouth-wateringly juicy scented options too – Sweet Lime, and Pink Rose & Bergamot, both which also feature Soap & Glory’s Coolcapsuel-Smooth™ cooling technology.

Next, a few body care products –

The Melvita L’Or Rose Refining Scrub (£15.00 from Melvita) combines Pink Berries and Rose Muscat Oil to exfoliate the skin, and it has a gel texture that transforms into a lovely rich cream on contact, leaving a delicate scent on the skin after use. I’ve just started using this and it has a surprisingly fresh and zingy scent, and I love that it leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth.

And the L’Or Rose Firming Oil (£28.00 also from Melvita) has the same zingy scent as the Refining Scrub. This oil combines Berries with Sea Buckthorn and promises to help visibly reduce the orange peel effect.

Though I’m sceptical that this will actually firm and make any physical difference to my skin, I’ve used it a couple of times already and it does make my skin feel lovely. It’s also worth mentioning that this product has been awarded ‘Best Slimming Product’ by Madame Figaro Magazine’s Beauté Stars Competition – time will tell if it works for me though.

Another body wash I’ve just started using is the Burts Bees Extra Energising Body Wash (£9.99 from Naturisimo) – I’m a big fan of energising scents when it comes to shower products, and this body wash contains Essential Citrus Oils and Ginger Root Extract to energise your skin as well as your senses, perfect for a morning wake me up shower.

And the Limited Edition Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Exfoliating Body Cleanser (£30.00 at Boots) is a must have for a spot of luxury in the bathroom. I was a complete Bronze Goddess virgin until trying this product, and now I know why everybody raves about both the fragrance and the range! This product not only smells divine, but it does a fantastic job of exfoliating and smoothing, leaving my skin looking fresh and healthy. I really don’t think this massive tube will last me very long!

And lastly, tanning. When it comes to fake tan, I’m more of a special occasion tanner – I just don’t have the time for regular tanning and waiting for it to dry – so I look for products that are quick, easy to use and effective.

I have the He-Shi Day to Day Gradual Tan (£11.99 from Ideal World) – this product is perfect for gradually building a light tan for those with fair to medium skin tones – so it sounds perfect for me. The formula contains Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and Pro Vitamin B5 for rehydrating skin whilst including a subtle element of self-tan. The triple action lotion promises to absorb easily and help even out your natural skin tone, and it can also be used to maintain an existing tan by using between self-tan applications.

And the Vita Liberata Body Blur (£29.95 at Boots) which technically falls under the category of makeup rather than skincare, but this is all-over body makeup, which I would definitely keep in my bathroom so I’m including it here!

Vita Liberata’s Body Blur Instant Skin Finish is an instant HD body makeup that perfects skin by masking blemishes and reflecting light. I’ve only used this once so far but I love that it gives a natural looking tint and washes off when you shower.

And the Vita Liberata Illuminating Skin Finish Gold (£29.95 at Birchbox) – following on from the Body Blur, the Skin Finish is basically like a body highlighter, giving skin a lovely subtle highlighted sheen, perfect for using after the Body Blur for a night on the town.

And lastly the Zhuzhu Tan Accellerator (£15.99 at Ideal World) rather than a fake tan as such, this product is formulated and designed to stimulate the melanin in your skin whenever you are exposed to the sun, to speed up the natural tanning process.  It is a lightweight spray on formula that’s easy to rub in, leaving your skin moisturised without any stickiness. So I’ll just need to wait for some sunshine to see if this actually works!

Not that I need any more products in my bathroom now, but I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations for bath and body products that I should try? 🙂

Fragrance: Trussardi Donna Eau De Toilette

Posted on June 26, 2016

Hi Guys!

You may have noticed that TSNC has been down for a few days – well I’ve been having a nightmare with my old host since the middle of last week, but I’ve now transferred over to a new host and I’m so glad everything is back up and running! I’m now getting back into the swing of things with a new fragrance review. This is Donna by Trusardi…

Trussardi is one of the few brands in the world that successfully combines dynamism and classicism, a continuous search for new absolutes and a lifestyle of effortless elegance. Its fragrances, fashion, design and food all possess the values of a brand born over a century ago under the banner of quality.

Starting with a little bit of background information – Trussardi Donna and Trussardi Uomo EDP’s were originally launched in 2011 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the brand. Now the Eau de Toilette version of Trussardi Donna has just arrived: described as fresher and more exciting than ever, it’s a must have for fans of the original EDP.

Donna EDT is a sophisticated yet sensual oriental floral scent, created by the famous nose Nathalie Lorson. This is a bold scent, dynamic and refined, yet fresh and confident. It contains a wonderful blend of Yuzu, Citron and Water Fruits giving a luminous, bright and fruity aura in the top notes. It has a feminine heart of Orange Blossom, Jasmine Tea, and Water Lily which makes way for a sensuous base of Cedar and Sandal Woods, Vanilla and White Patchouli.

The bottle is elegant and sophisticated, with a simple shape and minimalist yet chic feel, and the ombré effect on the glass immediately distinguishes Trussardi Donna Eau de Toilette from the original Eau de Parfum.

  • Top Notes: Yuzu, Citron and Water Fruits.
  • Heart Notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine Tea and Water Lily.
  • Base Notes: Cedar, Sandalwood, Vanilla and White Patchouli.

Trussardi Donna EDT is available from £56.00 for 50ml at John Lewis.

QVC Find A Beauty Brand Competition 2016

Posted on June 24, 2016

Hi Guys!

For the third year running, QVC have launched their Find A Beauty Brand Competition, where they’re looking for a brand new and undiscovered beauty brand to join their fantastic beauty offering!

The QVC Find A Beauty Brand Competition is a one of a kind money-can’t-buy opportunity, with winners receiving a full mentoring package, including support and guidance from QVC’s experienced beauty buying team, as well as guaranteed on-air appearances on the live QVC channel, a feature on the QVC website and much more.

You’ll probably already know that QVC is the largest TV shopping channel in Britain, offering a wide variety of brand name products, covering beauty, fashion, jewellery, home & garden and more. Did you know you can also shop online or via their Apps? The winning brand will launch on all their platforms – this really is the most fantastic opportunity to give a new and emerging beauty brand the perfect launch to enable them to present to a keen and relevant customer base, and hopefully in turn make their brand a household name.

Find a Beauty Brand has proved hugely successful in previous years, with winners going on to find great success. Last year, QVC was so impressed with the calibre of the entries that it chose two winners – Little Ondine and NIOD – and both proved to be such a hit with viewers, they sold out lines in their very first shows –

Helene Panzorino, founder of Little Ondine, commented:

It’s been such a wonderful experience! We’ve been so warmly welcomed by the QVC family, and customers have understood and got on board with our revolutionary brand, with sell out after sell out. We hadn’t realised how many glitter lovers there are! Meeting everyone and being so wonderfully embraced has been amazing.

I’m a big fan of Little Ondine nail polishes, I have a post on them here where you can read all about the company, their fantastic peel off nail polishes, and a full review of how I got on with a couple of different shades.

And NIOD Skincare – Nicola Kilner, QVC Guest Presenter for NIOD, said:

QVC has been an exceptional retailer to work with on every level. The team are second to none, always going above and beyond to make our execution viewer focused and educational. We have continued to be given great shows and supported with new product launches to ensure we always have great fresh content to share.

I’ll be posting individual reviews for both the Little Ondine and NIOD products I’ve included in this post too very soon!

To enter QVC’s Find a Beauty Brand competition, brands just need to visit the QVC site here for full details on the entry process, and the closing date for entries is 19/08/16.

NARS Summer 2016 Under Cover Collection

Posted on June 22, 2016

NARS-Summer-2016-Under-Cover-Collection-review Hi Guys!

I have NARS’ latest collection to share with you today – this is the limited edition Under Cover Collection for Summer 2016. It comprises of a selection of Dual Intensity Eyeshadows, Dual Intensity Blush Duos and brand new Lip Cover’s in limited edition hand drawn packaging…

For Summer 2016, NARS makes a getaway with this limited-edition collection—high-fashion moments steeped in exclusivity and ease. New, rich Lip Covers saturate lips with coastal color, while Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows transform sheer tones and glistening shades for eyes. Dual-Intensity Blush completes the look with a touch of the sun – an insatiable rush of blush.

Isn’t the packaging just gorgeous!? It’s very chic, very French – very NARS…

The illustrations were designed by contemporary artist Konstantin Kakanias – taking inspiration from an editorial photo shoot, he aimed to capture the wit and wonder of François Nars behind-the-scenes world, and bring each moment to life in his fun and quirky illustrations.

Let’s start by looking at the Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow (£21.00) – if you’re not familiar with NARS’ Dual Intensity products, the clue really is in the name! These products are specifically formulated to be used both dry, for a sheer finish, or wet, for an increased intensity, high impact finish.

The Under Cover Collection contains four Dual Intensity Eyeshadow shades (out of 21 available at NARS in total)

  • Topless – seashell pink.
  • Pool Shark – iridescent periwinkle.
  • Deep End – shimmering teal green.
  • Tan Lines – rich hazelnut.

I have shade Topless, which is a pretty nude beige pink, with a hint of shimmer, and NARS advise using their Wet / Dry Eyeshadow #49 brush with these shadows, as this is designed specifically for both wet and dry application. I’m definitely a fan of this shade used both wet and dry – the formula has a wonderfully smooth texture with a luxe feel, as expected from NARS, and it’s just a joy to apply and wear.

Next the Dual-Intensity Blush (£30.00) – NARS have added two new Dual Intensity Blush duos to the six they already had on offer –

  • Liberation – shimmering light pink and caramel rose.
  • Sexual Content – sandy peach and soft raspberry.

Just like the above eyeshadows, the Dual Intensity Blush duos can be used both wet and dry, depending on how intense you want your look to be. They also feature NARS’ exclusive Translucent Prismatic Technology which utilises pearls and pigments to allow for multi-dimensional effects with a uniquely weightless, luxurious texture.

The formula is wonderfully silky and looks fabulous applied dry especially, giving skin a luminous, healthy glow.

Liberation – the light pink shade in this duo is really pretty, it gives my fair skin a sheer tint of colour.

Sexual Content – this is definitely my favourite of the two blush duos. The colours are slightly softer and easier to wear (on my pasty skin anyway!)

And lastly the Lip Cover (£21.00) – I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this one, I was thinking more along the lines of a liquid lipstick than a gloss, and technically it is a liquid lipstick, but it doesn’t dry and set on the lips like you would expect. The Lip Cover formula stay fluid – but not sticky – meaning they’re super comfortable to wear and not drying at all.

But, like a standard liquid lipstick they are super highly pigmented – which I just love. The colour saturation plus luminous finish really is a winning combination!

The Lip Covers come in four shades, ranging from easy to wear nude pinks, to bright and vivid reds and oranges –

  • Overheated – deep dusty rose.
  • Do Not Disturb – vivid orange-red.
  • Get Dirty – desert rose.
  • Members Only – crimson.

So there we have it – what a gorgeous collection! I have to say the Lip Covers really are fabulous, and if you’re a fan of liquid lipsticks, I’d really recommend you try these out.

The limited edition NARS Under Cover collection is available now at NARS Cosmetics.

Instant Effects Instant Lash Volumiser #2WeeksLashChallenge

Posted on June 21, 2016

Hi Guys!

I’ve recently been trying out the Instant Effects Instant Lash Volumiser and I wanted to share my results with you!

My lashes are basically everything you don’t want when it comes to eyelashes – they’re short, straight and fine, and just a nightmare to do anything with. I try to curl them and it either just doesn’t work, or the curl drops straight away, and mascara more often than not just looks non existent after I’ve applied it –  so I’m more than happy to try anything that promises to improve the volume and length of my lashes…

I must admit though, the Instant Effects Instant Lash Volumiser did sound a bit too good to be true –

With proven results, the Instant Lash dual effect patented technology creates volume, improving the thickness of individual lashes by up to 20% within 2 minutes, using oxygen transfer technology. With daily use, the secondary technology improves the thickness of lashes by up to 35% in 2 weeks and up to 40% in 6 weeks together with up to 20% increase in length.

The product itself has a clear serum formula, which you’re advised to apply to cleansed lashes before you go to bed, as it works best overnight. If you choose to apply in the day time, you can also apply mascara within minutes after application.

Ok so here’s the before photo – there’s not a scrap of makeup on my face (can’t you tell!) and my lashes are short, straight and fine.

And the after shot – ok so my eyelashes haven’t suddenly grown an extra centimetre and turned into wonderful curled Goddess lashes, but this was never going to happen – realistically this product can only improve on what you already have, not magically create miracles!

I have to say I’m really impressed with the results – though it may appear subtle, you can definitely see my lashes are now looking thicker and just more prominent than they were before. They just feel better too, they’re more silky and conditioned and feel healthier than before. They’re also slightly longer too, which I think will continue to improve as I carry on using the product. And.. they actually curl slightly on their own when I wear mascara now too, which I never thought would happen!

I can honestly say this product works – like I said don’t go expecting miracles, but it definitely improves on what you already have. It’s also worth mentioning that this can be used on brows too, which I’m going to try out next!

Instant Lash Volumiser is currently £19.99 and available now from Instant Effects.
