The-Body-Shop-NEW-Superfood-Face-Masks

Hi Guys!

After a bit of a break from the blog (which was well needed) and an awesome but hectic week in NYC with a fabulous bunch of bloggers, I’m now home, revived and refreshed, and ready to get back into the swing of things!

I’ll be sharing all my New York adventures very soon, but in the mean time I thought I’d let you know about some fantastic new masks from The Body Shop…

The Body Shop’s new superfood masks are 100% vegetarian (with some also being vegan) and they contain no parabens, silicone, mineral oils or paraffins. The collection offers five masks, each featuring a different superfood for different skin requirements. Whether your skin needs purifying, added hydration, or could do with a boost of energy, there’s a mask for you. Let’s take a look at the range –

body-shop-maska

I’ll start with the two masks I’ve tried so far. So firstly the Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask – this 100% vegan face mask is perfect for skin that needs a fast recharge from signs of fatigue and stress – I pretty much dipped my face in this as soon as I got back from New York, and I’m really glad I did! This mask is infused with acai berry, guarana and babassu oil to lightly exfoliate and invigorate tired skin. It definitely did the job for my jet-lagged complexion.

I then went for the Ethopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask yesterday – now this mask really does smell good enough to eat! It contains a selection of natural ingredients such as honeymarula oil and olive oil to nourish and moisturise the skin, leaving your complexion soft, smooth and restored. This mask is both indulgent and comforting, and it’s definitely my favourite out of the two I’ve tried so far.

The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is a tingling charcoal clay mask that’s 100% vegan and infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. It promises to draw impurities out of the skin, absorb excess oil and refine the appearance of pores, revealing a healthy looking, youthful glow. I should mention that my sensitive skin often doesn’t like clay masks, but I’ll be trying this one later in the week and I’ll let you know how I get on.

Next the British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask – this is a refreshing gel face mask that’s designed for skin that wants to be quenched and re-plumped with moisture. This mask is 100% vegan and infused with rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and aloe vera to reveal skin that’s replenished and visibly smooth, with a youthful dewy appearance.

And lastly the Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask – this creamy exfoliating face mask is perfect if you need something a bit more intense to treat dull and uneven skin. It contains ginseng extract, rice extract and sesame seed oil to illuminate, and reveal brighter-looking, and more supple feeling skin.

Though I’ve only tried two masks out of the five so far, I’m really impressed with them. They’re only £15.00 each too which really is fantastic value! The superfood mask collection is available now at The Body Shop.

The Prettiest Fragrances for your Dressing Table

Posted on August 20, 2016

Hi Guys!

Obviously perfume is all about the scent – but you must admit a pretty bottle really doesn’t go amiss! I love nothing more that displaying my most beautiful perfume bottles like trophies – does anyone else do this?? I thought I’d put together some of my more fabulous ones to share with you today –

The-Prettiest-Fragrances-for-your-Dressing-Table

Starting with Capri Vince Camuto EDP – this is actually my first experience of Vince Camuto fragrances, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. When I took the bottle out of the box I was wowed by how unusual it was. The bottle itself is a curious hexagonal shape, with a striking ocean blue hue. The lid has an intricate cut out detail almost like abstract leaves, and the bottle is finished off with a delicate blue bow and silver charm around the neck.

A wanderlust at heart, the Capri Vince Camuto woman is in love with the world and all it has to offer. When she’s travelling, colours seem brighter, sounds sharper, senses ignited with a zest for life. No matter where she goes, Capri Vince Camuto is her passport to adventure, a reminder of spontaneous summer days and sultry nights.

Capri Vince Camuto is a warm, yet fresh and invigorating fragrance – reflecting the coastal landscape and waters of Capri, Italy. The scent’s top notes of Pear and Pink Grapefruit mingle with a floral bouquet of Peach Blossom and Violet Flower at the heart, leading to a rich base of Musk and Vanilla. Like a cool Mediterranean breeze, this floral-fruity fragrance transports your senses. Imagine the warmth of sun-kissed skin, with the freshness of a cool breeze on the skin.

  • Top Notes: Violet Leaves, Juicy Pear, and Pink Grapefruit.
  • Heart Notes: Red Frangipani, Peach Blossom, and Violet Flower.
  • Base Notes: Musk and Vanilla.

Capri Vince Camuto is £55.00 for 100ml at Debenhams.

The-Prettiest-Fragrances-for-your-Dressing-Table-2

Next Chloe Love Story EDT – this is just such a classic, pretty and feminine fragrance, and the bottle reflects this perfectly –

…In the palm of her hand, a lucky charm. A padlock, universal symbol of love, a treasured emblem of the maison Chloé. A glass jewel adorned with grooves that evoke the pleats in a wispy dress. In the middle, safely protected, a concentrate of this tenderly rosy fragrance that she keeps with her at all times. Its elegant matte white case, embossed with gold letters, is circled with a delicate pink ribbon that holds the finest present: a love story, refreshing and sincere….

Love Story EDT is basically a fresher and more floral version of the original EDP. It’s romance in a bottle! The scent opens with fresh and floral Orange Blossom, mingling with green Prunus Flower and a dewy floral accord. This fragrance is pretty, carefree, fresh and feminine.

  • Top Notes: Orange Blossom.
  • Heart Notes: Fresh Prunus Leaf.
  • Base Notes: Dewy Notes.

Chloe Love Story EDT is from £41.50 for 30ml at John Lewis.

And Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Poudree EDP – now this is a wonderfully powerful and seductive fragrance. “NARCISO eau de parfum Poudrée is sensuality and supreme femininity,” says the designer, “It is never overpowering, but impossible to forget.” The bottle, however is quite understated. The simple square shape made with delicate blush pink glass represents a sophisticated elegance that’s modern yet soft in appearance. This scent is perfect for those looking for something intense, evocative and distinctive…

NARCISO eau de parfum Poudrée embodies a discreet luxury with an intimacy that lingers on a woman’s skin leaving a silken trail. Skin and scent become one and the same, radiating beauty and grace. The fragrance leaves a deep impression as the fragrance dissolves into a woman’s skin and as a memory that lingers.

  • Top Notes: Bulgarian rose, White Jasmine and Orange Blossom.
  • Heart Notes: Musk.
  • Base Notes: Vetiver, Cedar, Coumarin and Patchouli.

Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Poudrée EDP is from £38.50 for 30ml at John Lewis.

The-Prettiest-Fragrances-for-your-Dressing-Table-chloe-paco-rabanne

And lastly Paco Rabanne Olympea Aqua EDT – I haven’t tried any new Paco Rabanne fragrances for a really long time, so I was excited so see what the new Olympea Aqua would be like. Firstly, the bottle is stunning! Just like the original Olympea fragrance, Olympea Aqua has the same shaped bottle – based on a laurel crown it makes you think of a modern greek goddess, but this time the glass is frosted.

Paco Rabanne brings back the trend of aquatic fragrances with editions inspired by the athletic spirit, competition and victory, Invictus from 2013 and Olympéa from 2015. The new releases Invictus Aqua and Olympéa Aqua further emphasize the aquatic character of these compositions.

Olympéa Aqua opens with the freshness of Calabrian bergamot, aquatic accords and Petitgrain that lead to the heart of Ginger Flower. The power of the fragrance is reflected in the base of Salted Vanilla, Ambergris and Cashmere Wood.

  • Top Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Water Notes and Petitgrain.
  • Heart Notes: Ginger flower.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Salt, Ambergris and Cashmere Wood.

Paco Rabanne Olympea Aqua EDT is £53.50 for 50ml at The Fragrance Shop.

My Clarins Sun Care Prescription for Sensitive Skin

Posted on August 16, 2016

My-Clarins-Sun-Care-Prescription

Hi Guys!

The lovely guys at Clarins have put together a special package of sun protection products just for me today – well I do feel special! We all know how important sun care is, but do we all actually wear a SPF on a daily basis?? I know I don’t – and I really should. My skin is fair, and often sensitive, and also burns pretty easily. I very rarely go out in the sun so I need products that I know will work in terms of protection, as well as being gentle on my often irritated skin. Here’s what Clarins recommended –

First of all we have the Sun Care Spray Gentle Milk-Lotion UVB20 (£18.00 at John Lewis) – this is basically sun protection made easy – which is what I’m all about! This is a no-fuss, no-mess milk lotion spray, with a fresh, fluid texture. It’s also water-resistant and ideal for all skin types in strong sunshine.

And next the Clarins Sun Care Cream For Sun-Sensitive Skin UVB30 (£18.00 at John Lewis) – as you can tell by the name, this product is specifically made for sensitive skin. It’s a surprisingly light-textured, water-resistant high-protection cream that’s specially formulated for fair and sun-sensitive skins in very strong sunlight.

The Sun Wrinkle Control Cream UVB30 (£20.00 at John Lewis) – is described as ideal protection for sun-sensitive skin or skin exposed to intense sunlight. It provides reinforced sun protection with photostable and heat-resistant UVB-UVA filters, and it promises to protect against dehydration as well as helping to prevent the visible signs of premature skin ageing.

And lastly the After Sun Gel Ultra-Soothing (£20.00 at John Lewis) – After sun is one of those products I never seem to have in the cupboard, until I actually need it and it’s too late! This ultra-soothing gel rehydrates the skin whilst prolonging your tan. It’s highly refreshing thanks to watermelon extract, and leaves skiing feeling moisturized, soft and supple. Top tip – keep your after sun in the fridge so it’s extra cool and refreshing on application.

Cohorted August 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on August 15, 2016

Cohorted-August-2016-Beauty-Box-Review

Hi Guys!

Cohorted’s August beauty box has just arrived, so let’s take a look inside…

  • NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette, worth £45.00
  • Smith & Cult Nail Polish in xx, worth £19.00
  • Nunzio Saviano Anti-Frizz Sheets, worth £14.00
  • Cohorted Ovali Brush, worth £18.99
  • Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream, 2x 3ml tubes, worth £24.00

Total value of box = £120.99.

Ok so overall this looks like a great box – let’s start with the NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette. Now I’m going to be completely honest and admit I feel a bit on the fence about this one. On the face of it this is an excellent product, it’s a limited edition Andy Warhol palette, and though unboxed, it’s a really nice eyeshadow palette of high value. My only niggle is that this product was launched in 2012 – making it four years old. Now some people might not have a problem with this (and personally I don’t in this case, but of course this depends on the product as well as personal preference) but I think this is definitely a point worth mentioning. You can see what the inside of the palette looks like here.

Next the Smith & Cult Nail Polish – now this really is a gorgeous product! I have a few Smith & Cult polishes (check them out here) and they really are fab polishes, as well as being presented in stunning packaging. This shade is Regret The Moon, it’s a lovely warm white, with the slightest tint of pink to it. In contrast to the above NARS product, this is actually a brand new shade which is great news! 🙂

Next we have Nunzio Saviano – a brand that I haven’t heard of, but their Anti-Frizz Sheets do sound rather appealing, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having lately. The box contains 15 individually wrapped sheets which promise to instantly smooth hair and eliminate frizz, while controlling static ad taming flyways. I think I’ll be taking a few of these to New York with me next week!

Next the Cohorted Ovali Brush. I’ve already done a comparison post on an original Artis brand oval style brush, compared to an Ebay dupe – and in my opinion you definitely don’t need to spend a fortune on ‘oval’ brushes. Cohorted’s own branded oval brushes come with a really nice rose gold and matte black finish, with the Cohorted logo printed on the handle. These are available to order now from Cohorted as either single brushes or sets.

And lastly, the Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream – I couldn’t actually believe it when I worked out that the two tiny 3ml samples included in the box are actually worth £12.00 each! If you look the product up online you’ll see a 20ml tub is £80.00, so this is a great opportunity to try a product that many of us wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to due to the high price. This product promises to firm, nourish and reduce wrinkles. I’ll be interested to see if it makes any difference to my rather large eye bags!

Cohorted-August-2016-Review

Overall I think this is a great box, and definitely well worth the £35.00 price tag. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Limited-Edition-Jimmy-Choo-Exotic-review

Next, the gorgeous Limited Edition Jimmy Choo Exotic – this fragrance is sparkling, sexy and irresistible – and probably my favourite out of all the scents in this post. Exotic is a new interpretation of the classic Jimmy Choo fragrance, with refreshing notes of blackcurrant sorbet and pink grapefruit bringing sparkle to the sensuality of tiger orchid and passion flower – the heart of the original scent. The base of patchouli and velvety raspberry complete this fruity, chypre fragrance.

Paul-Smith-Sunshine-for-Women-Limited-Edition-review

Paul Smith Sunshine for Women Limited Edition – Now I must admit, Paul Smith isn’t a brand I’d usually gravitate towards when it comes to fragrance, but their latest limited edition is a summer must have! Sunshine for Women is a wonderfully light and fruity yet refreshing scent. Pink grapefruit and peach at the top make the scent juicy and sweet, with a feminine floral heart and warm sandalwood and musk at the base.

  • Top Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Bergamot and Peach.
  • Heart Notes: Bulgarian rose, Jasmine and White Peony.
  • Base Notes: Sandalwood and Musk.

Paul Smith Sunshine for Women is £31.00 for 100ml EDT at Paul Smith.

Issey-Miyake-LEau-dIssey-Summer-Limited-Editions-review

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Summer Limited Edition – in collaboration with artist Michelle McKinney, limited edition L’eau d’Issey Summer is a gorgeous light fruity-floral summer scent, with fruity notes of lychee, grapefruit and exotic guava and passionfruit at the heart, brought together with a feminine base of vanilla and woods.

  • Base Notes: Vanilla and Wood.

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Summer is £41.00 for 100ml EDT at Selfridges.

Hollister-WAVE-for-Her-review

Hollister WAVE for Her – another brand which I wouldn’t necessarily pick up and try if I saw it on the shelf, Hollister Wave for Her definitely shouldn’t be overlooked. Inspired by a California sunset, this fragrance is made for a girl with youthful spontaneity and personality. The fragrance opens with juicy citruses notes, making way for wild orchid, sunset hibiscus and California Poppy at the heart. Warm, enveloping woods and amber create the perfect balance in the base evoking the warmth of a summers evening.

  • Top notes: Carambola (star fruit), Cassis and Quince.
  • Heart notes: Orchid, Hibiscus and Poppy.
  • Base notes: Solar Notes, Sandalwood and Crystal Amber.

Hollister Wave for her is from £19.00 for 30ml, and it’s available at Boots.

ck-one-summer-review

CK One Summer – this is a wonderfully wet and refreshing unisex scent. Opening with fresh and fruity top notes of lime mojito and green apple, leading on to juicy guava and lush vibrant greens at the heart, dripping with exotic freshness. The scent is rounded off with cool cedarwood and tree moss at the base.

  • Top Notes: Green Apple, Lime Mojito, and Green Ginger.
  • Heart Notes: Guava, Tiare Tahiti, and Juniper.
  • Base Notes: Coconut Milk, Cedarwood, and Tree Moss.

CK One Summer EDT is £33.00 for 100ml at Escentual.

michael-kors-coral-review

And lastly, Michael Kors Coral – described as fresh, feminine, and fabulous, Michael Kors Coral is a bright and bold scent evoking the chic, carefree mood of faraway destinations. The fragrance opens with top notes of pink grapefruit, lemon and juicy mandarin, with pink pepper and blackcurrant mingling with tuberose and orange blossom for a sweet and feminine heart. The base contains a blend of cedar, musk, ambrox and warm sandalwood for a sumptuous and velvety finish.

  • Top Notes: Pink grapefruit, lemon, mandarin, pink pepper and black currant.
  • Heart Notes: Tuberose, jasmine tea, orange blossom and sweet raspberries.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage City Smart Hydrating Shield

Posted on August 14, 2016

Elizabeth-Arden-Prevage-City-Smart-Hydrating-Shield

Hi Guys!

Pollution isn’t something you’d necessarily associate with beauty and skincare, but environmental aggressors such pollution, smoke and UV rays are in fact constantly taking a toll your skin without you realising. In reaction to this, Elizabeth Arden have developed their own ‘invisible skin shield‘ to protect, prevent further damage, and strengthen the skin.

Elizabeth-Arden-Prevage-City-Smart-Hydrating-Shield-review

Elizabeth Arden’s research has found that 80% of all signs of skin aging are due to environmental aggressors – which really is a staggering statistic…

Exposure to UV rays and pollution—particularly in urban areas— wreaks havoc on skin, right down to its DNA. Sun exposure is well known to be a major cause of visible skin aging and now recent studies reveal the need to also shield the skin from air pollutants called ambient particulate matter, which generates excess free radicals which interfere with skin’s ability to produce collagen and elastin and retain moisture.

Prevage City Smart was then developed as a daily use product, offering triple action protection –

Protect: Anti-Pollution Shield Technology forms an invisible protective barrier to help prevent harmful toxins and pollution particles from penetrating skin. 100% Mineral Broad Spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen filters out UVA and UVB rays.

Prevent: A patent-pending Anti-Pollution Complex is comprised of an exclusive antioxidant blend of Idebenone, the world’s single most powerful antioxidant, Green Tea, Thiotaine, Ferulic Acid and L-Carnosine, to neutralize free radical damage caused by pollution and UV exposure. In addition, City Smart also helps to prevent the appearance of future signs of skin aging, including lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Strengthen: A DNA Enzyme Complex formulated with purified enzymes helps protect against free radical damage and supports skin’s natural repair process against oxidative stress. Skin’s elastin and collagen matrix are protected and its natural recovery process is strengthened resulting in healthier, more resilient looking skin.

Elizabeth-Arden-Prevage-City-Smart

This really is an excellent product to use as a final step in your skincare regime. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what skin type you have, this hydrating and multi-active product is suitable for all. It’s also worth mentioning that Prevage City Smart also contains a universal tint with optical diffusers which works well with all skin tones, to help even out the complexion.

Elizabeth Arden city Smart is £55.00 for 40ml and available now at Boots.

Beauty News & Gossip 14/08/16: Colourpop, Pat McGrath, Kat Von D & More!

Posted on

Hi Guys!

It’s time again for the latest beauty news and gossip! Let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the land of beauty lately –

kylie-cosmetics-birthday-collection

Kylie Jenner has recently launched her birthday collection of products, which come in rather fancy re-vamped gold packaging – and of course everything sold out in about 3 seconds. Personally, the sheer effort it takes to actually purchase something from Kylie Cosmetics really puts me off the brand, but I’d be interested to hear if any readers actually managed to pick anything up from the birthday collection, and if the products are any good?

nikkie-tutorials-power-of-makeup-palette-swatches

Next, I’ve just checked up on the the Too Faced x Nikkie Tutorials collaboration kit and it will be available at Sephora tomorrow! I must admit, I originally wasn’t overly excited about the palette in the set, but now I’ve seen the swatches I think it looks really pretty!

too-faced-sweet-peach-glow-palette

Too Faced are also launching a Sweet Peach Glow palette for Spring 2017 – I actually originally thought this was another eyeshadow palette in the Peach range, but nope, it’s a highlighter palette! I can’t wait to see what the shades will look like! I’m thinking warm peaches and pink tones – exciting!

kailaijumei-lipsticks

Beauty fans will know that Kailijumei lipsticks are one of the latest hot products right now – these amazingly pretty clear lipsticks change colour on application, and also have a flower actually embedded inside the lipstick bullet!

I couldn’t resist nabbing a couple of these myself! My parcel is currently winging its way to me from Kuala Lumpur –  so keep an eye out for them on the blog in (hopefully) the next few weeks.

sugarpill-pro-palette

Sugarpill is one of those brands I often overlook, though I do have a couple of their quad eyeshadow palettes from a few years ago. If you haven’t tried them before, Sugarpill eyeshadows are actually fantastic, and have the most amazing pigmentation. Their Pro Palette is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for bright eyeshadows with fantastic colour payoff.

colourpop-ultra-metallic-lip-swatches

I also saw some swatches of the new Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lip products, and they just look so gorgeous and summery! I’m trying to resist but think I need them! 🙂

juvias-masquerade-palette

I also came across this Masquerade Palette by Juvias Place which just looks amazing! Definitely another one for the wish list. There are so many amazing ‘Instagram’ beauty brands popping up now – if you know of any more I should check out please do let me know!

pat-mcgrath-004

We also now have details on the new Pat McGrath products! She’s bringing out three new lip product kits – Vermillion Venom, Bloodwine and Flesh, with each comprising of five products: including two matte lipsticks, a clear gloss, a metallic pigment and a loose glitter. I have to say the colours in these kits look AMAZING – and I really want all of them! They’re $60 per kit and will be available on 30/08.

jeffree-star-new-highlighters

And how could I do a Beauty News & Gossip post without including Jeffree Star? 🙂 Well he has a few new skin frost highlight shades that I wanted to mention. I’m actually really liking the look of Lavender Snow!

kat-von-d-too-faced-better-together-collection

And lastly, Toofaced’s collaboration with Kat Von D is finally happening! This was hinted at a while ago, and I couldn’t wait to find out what they were up to! The Better Together collaboration includes an awesome looking double sided heart shaped palette, which can actually be split in two, as well as some other fab sounding products. Make sure you check out Trendmood1 on Instagran for some more sneak peeks!
