Too Faced Melted Matte-tallic Liquid Lipsticks

Posted on October 11, 2018

Too Faced have so many new products launching right now, there’s the 20th Anniversary Collection, the Tutti Fruity Collection, and not forgetting the brand new Christmas gift sets! Today however, I have some of their latest lipsticks from the Melted range – the Melted Matte-tallics…

Drench lips in an uber – luxurious, velvety matte formula that coats lips in a unique, brushed metal matte finish. The formula remains lighweight and comfortable with up to 24 hours wear, without compromising on the dazzling dimensional matte effect.

The Melted Matte-tallic lipsticks come in 13 shades, and the ones I have above are as follows –

  • Faking It – a warm toned medium nude.
  • Breakup Makeup– a pretty nude pink.
  • Bitch, I’m Too Faced – an intense true red.
  • I Wanna Rock With You – a deep burgundy.
  • Scream My Name – an intense deep purple.
  • The Real Teal – a deep blue toned teal.
  • Magic Metal Transformer – different from the above lipsticks, the Transformer uses opalescent prismatic pearls to give the lips an iridescent finish. This has been made to use over liquid lipsticks, or on its own.

Firstly I must apologise as I just couldn’t get the photos of my swatches to do justice to the unusual metallic yet matte finish, so I’ve attached a stock photo of swatches which I think is pretty good. (Note the far right swatch is the teal shade with the Transformer on top)

The liquid formula is smooth and light, and feels comfortable to wear – it is slightly drying but I think that’s to be expected with most liquid lipsticks that fully dry down. Too Faced promise ’24-hour long-wearing color’ which I have no idea if it’s true or not. I’m not sure who could wear a lipstick for 24 hours straight! Anyway, the finish like I’ve already mentioned, is quite unusual. Too Faced describes it really well – ‘brushed metal’ is the term they use – metallic, yet matte. They kind of have a sheen, but no shine. It’s definitely something different! In terms of wear, they do last a long time, and are completely transfer proof when they dry down. I actually think these are pretty fun and different, and definitely worth checking out if you’re a Too Faced fan! My favourite shade is Breakup Makeup 🙂

Too Faced Melted Matte-tallic Liquid Lipsticks are available now at Debenhams and Too Faced.

Amazing Shay & Blue QVC TSV Upcoming Collection!

Posted on October 9, 2018

Hello friends! I’ve had a bit of much-needed time off lately, but behind the scenes I’ve been planning plenty of awesome content for the blog, as well as something exciting for Christmas!

Today though, I wanted to share a rather exciting upcoming offer from one of my favourite fragrance brands, Shay & Blue.

Shay & Blue have teamed up with QVC Beauty to offer their second ever QVC Today’s Special Value (TSV) deal. Debuting from midnight on Thursday 18 October 2018, Dom DeVetta, Shay & Blue’s founder will reveal the exclusive opportunity to purchase two different Shay & Blue 4-Piece Fragrance Collections, for one day only.

Each set includes 1x100ml Eau de Parfum Spray, 1x200ml Body & Hand Wash, 1x200ml Body & Hand Lotion in either Atropa Belladonna or Black Tulip scents, and 1x10ml Eau de Parfum Spray in yet-to-be-released White Peaches.

Here’s a bit more about the products –

I have the gorgeous Black Tulip set which firstly includes the Black Tulip Natural Spray Fragrance 100ml (worth £55) – I won’t go into too much detail about this fragrance as you can read all about it in my previous review, but I will just say that this is a stunningly unique scent, it’s smooth and warm and just perfect for this time of year. Here are the fragrance notes –

  • Top Note – Snowdrops and cyclamen bring instant floral freshness.
  • Heart Note – Black tulip and plum bring a rounded richness to the heart of the composition.
  • Base Note – White chocolate and soft woods for a smooth finish.

The set also includes Black Tulip Extraordinarily Nourishing Light Lotion 200ml (worth £16) – This beautiful scented lotion is enriched with high performance ingredients including Aloe Vera leaf extract, Cocoa Seed Butter, Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil. As it says in the name, this is a light feeling lotion, that’s quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving residue.

And Black Tulip Gentle Skin Conditioning Wash 200ml (worth £16) – This gently foaming body wash leaves skin scented with the gorgeous Black Tulip scent, whilst cleansing and conditioning the skin.

And lastly, the set includes a yet-to-be released fragrance – White Peaches EDP Fragrance 10ml (worth £25.00). White Peaches won’t be available until Spring 2019, so this is the perfect opportunity to be one of the first to try it!

‘Enjoy the essence of summer with the delicate, cooling fragrance of White Peaches. Fruity notes of soft ripe fruit are balanced with refreshing elderflower granita.’

  • Top Note – Juicy soft fruit exude the essence of summer.
  • Heart Note – Cooling elderflower granita lifts the sweetness.
  • Base Note – Earthy silver birch wood lingers for a warm finish.

This Shay & Blue 4-Piece Fragrance Collection is worth over £112.00 and will be only £50.00 for ONE DAY ONLY, from midnight Thursday 18th October 2018 at QVC – get that date in your diary now!

Introducing The Debenhams Beauty Club Community #LetsTalkBeauty

Posted on September 14, 2018

If you want to chat about makeup, skincare or fragrance with likeminded people, where do you go? Twitter? Facebook groups? Reddit?? Well, Debenhams have now launched their very own Beauty Club Community, bringing together beauty lovers across the globe to chat, give and receive advice, share their passions and much much more.

I have to say I’m actually surprised this hasn’t been thought of before – a dedicated space where enthusiasts can come together to share their love of beauty – it sounds fantastic!

The idea here is that the Beauty Club Community combines elements such as a chat forum where you can subscribe to specific interest groups (eg skincare, makeup etc), with plenty of extra elements such as live chats with beauty experts, artists, bloggers and influencers, exclusive content from beauty editors, exciting competitions, treats and rewards, as well as your own personalised profile page. It sounds like a beauty lover’s dream!

You can head over to the Clubhouse for general beauty chat, post any burning questions you may have, as well as joining in with other conversations. You can also earn badges and climb ranks up the leaderboards. Or check out the Blog, to find out about new products, tips and tricks, as well as finding out which free beauty samples Debenhams are offering!

Most importantly though, this club is designed for everyone and anyone – whether you’re total beginner or beauty expert, everyone is welcome.

Summer 2018 New Must Try Skincare!

Posted on August 9, 2018

Happy Thursday everyone! I have a few brand new summer skincare products to share with you today – enjoy!

Let’s start with the Starskin 7 Second Morning Mask – technically, this isn’t really a mask, these are double sided pads designed to be used in the morning to clean and prep the skin for the day ahead. One side of the pad has small beads to massage, exfoliate, remove dead skin cells and increase hydration, and the other applies a serum and moisturiser whilst ‘masking’ for a skin plumping hydration boost, leaving skin feeling soft and dewy. The idea is that this is a 7-in-1 product offering everything your morning skincare routine requires, in one handy pad. This is perfect for those that don’t want the hassle of a long morning routine – I love this product!

Next I have the Glamglow Instamud– this is a foaming treatment mask designed to instantly refine pores and even the skin tone, promising to leave skin smooth and soft in only 60 seconds. It contains bentonite, kaolin clays, witch hazel, aloe vera, and licorice root, and the micro-bubbling mud activates on contact with your skin to energize and invigorate while it perfects your complexion. I LOVE a bubbly mask, and this one does the trick without upsetting my sensitive skin, awesome!

Continuing with the bubbles, this is the Hello Jo Speak Up! Bubble Lip Mask – rather than a ‘grainy’ lip exfoliator, this works with enzymes, antioxidants and Vitamins A and C which break down dead skin cells to leave lips feeling renewed and resurfaced. You simply rub it on and watch the mask bubble up – I love how this makes my lips feel so smooth and nourished.

For cleansers, firstly I have the fantastic SVR Physiopure Cleansing Micellar Water Pure & Mild – this micellar water cleanser has been specifically developed for sensitive skin (yay!). The lightweight liquid purifies and detoxifies skin, and it eliminates dirt and all traces of makeup without over-drying or leaving skin feeling tight. This is a fantastic cleanser if you have sensitive skin.

And the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Detox Foaming Cleanser– this cleanser purifies and detoxifies the skin of impurities. It contains natural cucumber extract, sugarcane and sugar maple extract to encourage cell turnover whilst calming and soothing irritated skin, and glycerin and sodium PCA to cleanse and hydrate the skin whilst locking in moisture to reveal a healthier, refreshed appearance. It’s also good to know this cleanser is also alcohol and sulphate free!

The Paula’s Choice Peptide Booster is perfect for those with sensitive skin that may not be able to use a high strength retinol. It contains a powerful blend of eight targeted peptides, where each one addresses a specific anti-ageing concern, from loss of radiance and uneven skin tone to fine lines and wrinkles. Together with skin-restoring ingredients such as amino acids, antioxidants and hydrators, the Peptide Booster strengthens and protects the skin’s barrier and increases natural resilience. I’ve used this a few times now and I’m SO impressed with the results! It instantly makes my skin look and feel brighter, fresher and more radiant. This product is a must try!

Gatineau Perfection Ultime Radiance Energizing Eye Concentrate – if you have issues with puffiness and dark circles around the eyes, then this one’s for you. This serum has a super lightweight consistency that instantly absorbs into the skin to leave the eye area feeling silky smooth and instantly refreshed. The formula includes horse chestnut seed extract and yeast extract to boost circulation, smooth lines and reduce inflammation, and sweet almond oil which promotes smooth, plump and youthful-looking skin. It also provides long lasting hydration, helping to refresh and soothe tired eyes.

Continuing with eyes, I LOVE a good eye patch, and the Peter Thomas Roth Hydra Gel Eye Patches are just fantastic. The formula contains cucumber extract, allantoin, chamomile, aloe, niacinimide, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, hydrolyzed collagen, caffeine and arnica to awaken the appearance of tired eyes and diminish dark circles and puffiness. These patches leave my eye are feeling amazingly soothed and refreshed – I’ve been keeping mine in the fridge!

The Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly – is a super lightweight water-jelly designed to deliver 24-hour hydration repair, plus pollution protection. This jelly features Clinique’s Clean Shield Technology and is formulated with a blend of sunflower seed cake, barley extract and cucumber fruit extract to strengthen skin’s barrier, improve its resiliency, and balance and retain skin’s moisture levels. I love the texture of this jelly, it’s so light and it absorbs into the skin super quickly without leaving any residue. This is a must-try if you’re looking for a light feeling product that leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated.

And another brand that I’ve just come across is Cinch. The Cinch Face Cheat Moisturiser + Glow – is a spray moisturiser that also lightly illuminates the skin, whilst helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, minimise the look of pores and prime your skin ready for make-up application. This is definitely worth a try if you have dull and lacklustre skin.

Bali Body Bronzing Lotion – this is a fast absorbing light-weight moisturiser, combining fake tanning with the benefits of a skincare product. This vegan, antioxidant-rich Bronzing Lotion contains Vitamin E and natural oils to hydrate and smooth the skin, whilst organic caramel extract provides an instant bronzed glow. This gives you a lovely natural looking glow, whilst leaving skin feeling amazingly soft.

And last but not least, the This Works In Transit Pollution Shield – this spray contains moisturising hyaluronic acid, with chamomile extract and aloe vera to soothe skin and calm redness and irritation, and a polysaccharide pollution shield which inhibits the attack of carbon particles, particulate matter and heavy metals as you go about your day. This protective mist will help prevent signs of ageing and keep skin looking fresh and hydrated throughout the day with make-up held in place, whilst defending against environmental aggressors and pollutants.

New Men’s Fragrance Launch: John Wayne Duke EDP

Posted on August 7, 2018

I don’t talk too much about men’s fragrance on TSNC, but when one comes along that offers something different and catches my eye, you know I’m going to share it with you!

As soon as I heard about the new John Wayne ‘Duke’ fragrance, my very first thought was OMG my Dad would love that! – and that’s exactly what the creator is going for. Let me just rewind for a second here just in case you’re not aware of John Wayne. He was an actor that rose to fame in the 1940’s and was incredibly successful right through to the 70’s, mostly in country and western films. Because of this, he has a massive yet quite niche fan base – essentially men of a certain age that grew up watching and idolising him, exactly like my dad!

Over the years I have witnessed my dad watch the same old movies time and time again, and though they pretty much all look the same to me, there’s always cowboys, horses, saloons with swing doors, men drinking whiskey, smoking, guns, fights and lots of drama – and that’s exactly what this fragrance smells like, it’s like the essence of a classic western movie has been bottled, ready for the wearer to spray it on and transport back in time.

The box has a faux leather finish, with an outline of John Wayne and minimal text, and the bottle design is based on a classic hip flask, with a real leather cover, stitching detail and a printed John Wayne logo. Duke is a very well thought out, luxury sent, and pretty much ticks all the boxes in terms of what you’d expect when you understand its origins.

A scent that challenges men to live up to their highest potential, the new “DUKE” Fragrance marks the revival of a true American Icon whilst installing within it all the essences of the west. Clean Masculine John Wayne “Duke” is a distinctive fragrance capturing the bold and energetic spirit of this Icon of the screen. First, a uniquely charismatic opening of assorted spices and Tobacco leaf draws you back in time to the new frontier that was the west, where you discover a warm heart of vanilla and cocoa as you sat around the campfire with the coffee boiling, and where earthy woods and spices adds depth of character to the vastness of the open range, but the true star of this fragrance is the essence of John Wayne, the essence that embodies the quiet strength and conviction of the modern cowboy, and gives this fragrance a strong, sexy masculine finish.

  • Top Notes: Grapefruit, orange
  • Heart Notes: Red fruits, clove, cinnamon, jasmine
  • Base Notes: Amber, cedarwood, patchouli, vetivert

Honestly this fragrance just smells like I see my dad in my imagination (if that makes sense), I love it so much! And I know he is going to be absolutely thrilled when I gift it to him 🙂

John Wayne Duke EDP is available to buy now at Iconic Fragrances.
