Simply Beautiful Collection Skincare First Impressions

Posted on July 4, 2018

Something I want to do more on TSNC moving forward, is try out, test, review and and talk about smaller and lesser known brands. It think it’s now harder than ever for smaller, and also newer brands to get noticed in such a saturated market – and as consumers we know it’s always tempting to experience something new when it comes to beauty, so I hope you’re as excited as I am about discovering some new awesome cosmetics and skincare in the coming months!

So on this note, I was very excited to recently receive a package from a brand I’d never heard of before – SBC Gels. Simply Beautiful Collection (SBC) is a British beauty brand, and funnily enough they’re actually based just up the road from me, at Needham Market in Suffolk, yay for local brands! 😀

They were founded in 1988, and offer fuss-free, practical, effective, and affordable products, including skincare gels, moisturisers, serums, polishes, and cleansers, as well as much more. The brand is eco-friendly and cruelty-free, and use only the finest quality naturally derived ingredients to create natural skincare and body care that they promise really works.

SBC Kindly sent over a couple of their latest products from the ‘Collagen’ range, including their best-selling cleanser, the Collagen 3-in-1 Cleanser along with a Skin Shammy to use with it. Also, one of their latest launches, the Collagen Body Polish.

Firstly, the Collagen 3-in-1 Cleanser – this is described as an effective triple-action facial cleanser that removes all traces of make-up, dirt, oil and impurities, while mildly exfoliating the skin for a softer, smoother and brighter complexion. This is recommended for mature, dull and dry skin types.

So first impressions – this is a decent 250ml sized bottle, which I think is really reasonable for £26.00. The cleanser itself is a luxuriously thick cream, and I can just tell by the texture that my dry skin is going to love it! It also has a lovely light scent – I can be quite put off by overly scented products but this is spot on, just light and floral and fresh.

I’ve used this cleanser a few times now and it really does live up to its claims. I just realised I forgot to include the shammy in my pictures, I must have left it in the bathroom! I used the shammy along with the cleanser as instructed – you just massage one or two pumps on to dry skin, over the eyes, face and neck, then gently wipe off with the shammy and warm water. It left my face completely cleansed, soft and supple.

I also have the Collagen Body Polish – this is a sumptuous body polish, rich in Collagen and Vitamin E to revitalise tired skin. The texture is thick, yet light, and includes super fine pumice beads to gently buff away dead skin cells, promising to leave your skin feeling silky-soft and nourished, with long lasting moisture.

Again I’ve also used this a few times now, and it really is fantastic! If your skin’s on the sensitive side like mine is, then any product that’s ‘exfoliating’ can be a bit of a minefield. The pumice beads in the Collagen Body Polish are so-so tiny though, that they’re completely non-abrasive, yet give a decent level of light exfoliation that leaves skin feeling super soft and silky. The Collagen Body Polish also has the same light, fresh scent as the Cleanser, so I’m a happy bunny all round!

If you have sensitive skin like I do, and you’re interested in eco-friendly, cruelty free skincare, as well as supporting smaller, local brands, I highly recommend you check out the fantastic range of products that SBC offer!

The above products are available to purchase now at SBC Gels.

Clean Reserve Avant Garden EDP Collection #UnlockTheAvantGarden

Posted on July 3, 2018

Clean Reserve is a fragrance brand that I really don’t think gets enough credit. If you’re not familiar with them, Clean Reserve are a fantastic pioneer of simple, no fuss, eco-conscious fragrances. They use only the finest ingredients which they grow themselves and harvest responsibly. All their scents are manufactured using 100% solar energy, and they also commit to supporting the lives and livelihoods of the farmers they work with.

The Avant Garden collection of six fragrances merges the structure of a traditional clean linear eau de parfum with a luxurious niche approach – it’s an organic extension of Clean Reserve’s mission to conscientiously source raw ingredients that are cultivated using environmentally sound harvesting practices. The collection is completely cruelty-free, free of phthalates, preservatives, gluten and artificial dyes, as well as being infused with safe molecular naturals and sustainable notes such as mandarin, cardamom, and sandalwood.

“The sustainable flowers from the farm in the original Clean Reserve collection have morphed together creating a fantastical world where two unlikely notes blend together in a lush, secret garden,” said Greta Fitz, VP Global Marketing & Product Development, Fusion Brands America, Inc. “Each fragrance is comprised of two unlikely notes where together they make a magical, beautiful fragrance that has never before been experienced.”

The Clean Reserve Avant Garden collection includes six fragrances:

  • Galbanum & Rain: This fresh and woody fragrance is crafted with eco-conscious and sustainable notes of galbanum, Sichuan pepper, clearwood, cedarwood, patchouli and vetiver.
  • Hemp & Ginger: Blends cardamom, Sichuan pepper and elemi for a multi-faceted earthy scent.
  • Muget & Skin: Cardomom, jasmine, clearwood and patchouli bring a feeling of warmth in this sophisticated scent.
  • Saguaro Blossom & Sand: Mimosa, jasmine, lavender flower, and rose create a unique scent that is inviting and intriguing.
  • Sweetbriar & Moss: This non-traditional floral scent contains rose, Sichuan pepper and lychee rose for an unexpected elegant finish.
  • White Amber & Warm Cotton: A fresh twist on the classic ‘Warm Cotton’ scent, notes of mandarin, bergamot and sandalwood provide depth to the comforting scent of cotton.

I have Saguaro Blossom & Sand, which is a wonderfully delicate, lightly feminine scent. It’s a dry, woody floral, both bright and modern. It’s fresh yet warm, with dewy, airy accords that linger on the skin for hours. I also have Sweetbriar & Moss which is pretty similar to Saguaro Blossom & Sand, it’s again more of a feminine scent, but not overly so. It’s also a dry woody floral – classic and daring, and again leaves a beautiful trail of scent on the skin.

The Clean Reserve Avant Garden Eau de Parfum collection (£129.00 for 100ml) is available now exclusively at Space NK.
