Beauty: Charlotte Tilbury NEW Lipsticks in Valentine & Pillow Talk

Posted on February 13, 2017

Hi Guys!

Charlotte Tilbury has been coming out with so many fantastic new launches of late, I’m not sure I can keep up! I have a couple of her latest lipstick shades to show you today – and these are definite must-haves for fans of the brand…

Firstly, Valentine (above right) is from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G range – this is a beautiful petal-rose pink promising to give you irresistibly kissable lips in seconds. The formula is enriched with 3D light-diffusing pigments to give you a fuller, luminous, multi-dimensional finish, whilst protecting lips from UV damage and fighting oxidative stress – leaving lips soft, pert, soothed and hydrated.

Valentine is fairly similar to colour Bitch Perfect, but Bitch Perfect has more of a coral / beige tone, and Valentine is a much more cooler pink shade. It’s a truly beautiful colour that would be perfect for those with fairer skin tones. The colour is highly pigmented and easily buildable, and leaves lips feeling smooth and comfortable for hours on end.

And I also have the latest from the Matte Revolution range – shade Pillow Talk. This shade perfectly matches Charlotte’s famous Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Lip Liner which has been around for quite a long time now – if you’re not aware of the lip liner, this is one of Charlotte’s ‘cult’ must-have products that really does live up to the hype. Back to the lipstick now though – on the face of it this is just another nude pink lipstick, but it actually mimics and enhances the natural hue of your lips, so you can easily cheat your way to a perfect pillowy pout in seconds.

This lipstick is formulated with soothing Orchid and Lipstick Tree extracts, to soften, hydrate and leave lips appearing fuller with a more youthful feel, and 3D glowing pigments create the illusion of lit-from-within lips that appear wider and fuller.

If you like a matte finish lipstick, Pillow Talk is the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade, again I’d say mostly suited to those with lighter skin tones, this lasted me for a good 4+ hours before I needed to reapply, and the pigmentation is just fantastic!

The swatches above show the shades are similar, but most definitely different. Pillow Talk on the left has a denser formula with a matte finish, and Valentine is lighter and pinker in colour with a satin finish.

I also wanted to mention Charlotte has a couple of gorgeous looking new ‘Look’ sets which include these new lipsticks too – The Naturally Beautiful Date Look includes Pillow Talk, and The Secret to Seduction Look includes Valentine.

Valentine and Pillow Talk Lipsticks are £24.00 each and available now at Charlotte Tilbury.

Valentine’s Gift Guide for Him

Posted on February 12, 2017

Hi Guys!

With only two days left till Valentine’s day, I thought I’d share a quick gift guide for him in case you were in need of some last minute gift inspiration! I always find it’s difficult to choose gifts for my other half, so I’ve gathered together a few ideas together, including plenty of fragrances, a cocktail kit, and something a little more unusual. I hope you enjoy x

Starting with two fragrances from Versace – Versace Dylan Blue EDT (From £40.00 for 30ml at House of Fraser) is a striking, masculine scent, that (in my opinion) would suit an older or sophisticated gent. Though I say this, Dylan Blue is still a modern fragrance – intense and charismatic, it opens with citrus notes of bergamot and grapefruit, intertwined with nuances of fig leaf and aquatic notes. In the heart, violet leaves and black pepper mingle with aromatic and woody tones, and the base is a combination of musk, tonka bean, saffron and incense.

  • Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Grapefruit, Fig Leaves and Aquatic Notes.
  • Heart Notes: Violet Leaves, Black Pepper, Papyrus Wood, Ambrox and Patchouli.
  • Base Notes: Mineral Musk, Tonka Bean, Saffron and Pyrogéné Incense.

In contrast, Versace Eros EDT (From £52.00 for 50ml at House of Fraser) to me is a more youthful fragrance. Inspired by Eros, the god of love from ancient Greek mythology, Versace Eros EDT is an intensely refreshing, luminous yet sensual fragrance. With top notes of mint, citrus and crisp apple peel, the fragrance opens with a luminous and fresh impact. The heart of tonka bean and ambroxan creates an intriguing oriental signature, and Madagascan vanilla gives a hint of creaminess, while greenery in the form of oakmoss and cedarwood round off the sensual base.

  • Top Notes: Mint Oil, Italian Lemon Zest and Green Apple.
  • Heart Notes: Tonka Bean, Ambroxan and Geranium Flower.
  • Base Notes: Madagascan Vanilla, Oak Moss and Cedarwood.

Another fantastic male scent is Mr Burberry EDT (From £40.00 for 30ml at House of Fraser) – described as classic yet contemporary; sophisticated and sensual, Mr Burberry captures the essence of London and its moments. Fusing classic scents of British perfumery with unexpected ingredients, it boasts fresh and crafted top notes of crisp zesty grapefruit, cut with a seductive base of earthy vetiver and smokey guaiac wood.

  • Top Notes: Zesty Grapefruit.
  • Base Notes: Vetiver and Guaiac Wood.

Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 & Escentric 01 (From £65.50 for 100ml at Cult Beauty)

If you haven’t heard of Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 fragrance, it’s definitely one to try whether you’re male or female. Interestingly, rather than having a traditional layering of top, heart and base notes, Molecule 01 is created solely from the aroma-chemical Iso E Super, which is traditionally a base note that adds the feeling of allure to a scent. The idea is that this works as more of an effect than an actual scented fragrance. It has a very subtle, velvety, woody note which blends with your natural pheromones, and it’s worth noting that you will rarely smell this fragrance on yourself. Molecule 01 is more about the effect it has on others.

And there’s also Escentric 01, which uses the same chemical Iso E Super, but unlike Molecule 01, this fragrance also includes notes of Pink pepper, Lime Peel, and Balsamic notes like Benzoin, Mastic and Orris Incense. Moving away from the traditional fragrance journey through top, heart and base notes, Escentric 01 moves quickly from top to bottom, eventually lingering on a sensual, woody musky finale.

Pall Mall Barbers Sandalwood and Clove Shave Oil (£22.00 at Pall Mall Barbers) – everyone and their dad has a beard right now, so I felt a Shave Oil would be very fitting for this guide. Pall Mall Barbers Sandalwood and Clove Shave Oil has been formulated with Sweet Almond and Jojoba oils, to soften stubble whilst protecting sensitive skin, this product adds an additional protective barrier between the skin and the razor blade, enabling a smoother glide, a closer shave and a more precise finish.

Ferrari Fragrance iPhone Cover (£30.00 at Boots) – ok so this is a bit of a strange one, I think you’ll either think this is a great idea or you just won’t. So Ferrari Fragrance have created an iPhone cover, but it’s also a cologne! The cover fits the iPhone 6 and 6s and contains 25ml of Ferrari Black or Ferrari Red EDT inside, so you can spritz and refresh your fragrance when you’re on the go. I think it’s a pretty cool idea! Plus you get an extra 25ml refill included in the box, which is handy. What do you think? Is this a hit or a miss?

And lastly, this Cocktail Tool Set (£29.99 at Find Me A Gift) – I always think a cocktail set isn’t really something you’d really buy yourself, but it’s definitely a handy thing to have. This set contains a stainless steel cocktail shaker, a stirrer, double jigger, a strainer and ice tongs, all displayed in a beech wooden stand – and there’s also a handy recipe booklet included too to give you some ideas – all you need to do is buy the drinks and get some friends over!

I hope you enjoyed my post, and have a wonderful Valentine’s day whatever you do xxx

Beauty: Foreo LUNA 2 Sensitive Review #LUNA2byFOREO

Posted on

Hi Guys!

When the original Foreo LUNA launched onto the beauty scene a few years ago, it was a fantastic innovation in skincare device technology, and I absolutely loved using it. In fact if you’d have asked me at the time I wouldn’t have been able to tell you how they could have improved it. Well now the LUNA 2 is here, and it proves that Foreo definitely know their stuff, as it really is better than ever.

The award winning LUNA 2 has been specifically developed to give a deeper and more effective cleanse, while remaining gentle on the skin. It offers 2x the power of the original LUNA, with a 50% bigger brush head for more efficient cleansing. It also has longer touch-points and a plush silicone body for greater comfort and performance.

There are also four different versions available to suit different skin types – Sensitive, Normal, Combination, and Oily – with each offering a strategic graduation of thinner to thicker touch-points to cleanse the skin depending on its needs.

I’ve been using the LUNA 2 for a few weeks now, and though this isn’t long enough to give a full on review, I thought I’d let you know my initial impressions, and how I’ve been getting on so far.

So you can probably guess I went with the sensitive option. This has thin, soft touch-points which feel flexible and rubbery to the touch. They are designed to minimize abrasion for the most sensitive skin yet still deliver deep cleansing that doesn’t compromise on gentleness.

The Sensitive LUNA 2 device comes in a lilac shade, it’s completely covered in ultra-hygenic soft silicone and it’s also completely waterproof, which is really handy so you can use it in the bath or shower if you wish. It offers 12 speeds, as well as 8000 T-Sonic pulsations per minute to remove 99.5% of dirt and oil, plus makeup residue and dead skin cells. It also has an anti-ageing surface on the opposite side, that directs lower-frequency pulsations to smoothen and firm the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

So firstly I have to say that it’s really easy to use – which is perfect if you’re like me and you don’t want to be faffing around with reading pages of instructions and attaching bits and pieces together. To clean the skin, you literally just move the device over your face for a minute, working in your cleanser, then if you wish to use the anti-ageing function, just flip it over and press onto the desired areas for another minute. It really is as easy as that.

After my very first use, my skin felt amazingly clean and fresh. I’m always nervous about using new devices and products as my skin can be quite sensitive at times and I can react to things. There was no problem with the LUNA 2 Sensitive though, and time after time my skin felt perfectly fresh and cleansed. Like I said I’ve only been using this for just under 2 weeks now, but I really feel I can tell the difference with my skin, it’s just looking a bit fresher and brighter than it did before.

It’s also worth mentioning that you can charge it via USB which is just SO handy. I’m pretty much always on my laptop at home so I can just plug it in as I’m working, and amazingly, you can get up to 450 uses with only 1 hours worth of charge – I wish my mobile phone could do that!

So would I recommend this device? Absolutely yes. Though it has a high price point, I love that it’s rechargeable and reusable, easy to use, easy to clean and hygienic, and you never need to replace any parts such as brush heads. The LUNA 2 could literally last you years if you look after it, making it a truly excellent investment for your skin.

The LUNA 2 is £169.00 and available now at Foreo.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Lifestyle: Luxury Valentine’s Gifting with Amara Living

Posted on February 9, 2017

Hi Guys!

Ok so following on from my earlier Valentine’s Gift Guide for Her, I’m really excited as I have the second instalment of my Valentine’s gift guides ready for you now, and for this one I’m teaming up with one of my all time favourite home accessory and gift stores to bring you a very special post…

Yes it’s Amara Living! If you haven’t heard of Amara, they are a luxury home accessory store offering a fantastic range of wares, enabling you to adorn your home with the most wonderfully decadent decor available. From soft furnishings, to lamps, to desk accessories, they literally have everything you could ever want or need for adding a touch of luxury to your home.

They stock some amazing designer brands including Versace Home, Missoni, Fornasetti, Kate Spade, Lalique and Mulberry Home to name but a few, and I’ve been sent a few gorgeous products from Amara today to share with you – which would make fantastic Valentine’s gifts for a loved one – enjoy!

I have to start with the stunning Fornasetti Silenzio Scented Candle. I’ve been a big fan of Fornasetti ever since I first discovered the brand a few years ago. This is the second candle I own now, and I like to think of this as the beginning of a collection. Fornasetti creates candles, vases, plates, and other accessories, with striking, almost Dali-esque imagery that’s both beautiful and often quite surreal. The Silenzo candle I have here is pretty tame by Fornasetti’s standards and features a winking face on one side, and a ‘shhh’ finger to mouth face on the other. This is easily one of the most beautiful items I now own.

I know you wouldn’t exactly think of a tray as a gift – most of us would think of them as functional items, but this absolutely beautiful Galerie De Portraits Buste Tray really would make a fantastic and unusual gift for someone this Valentine’s day. The imagery actually reminds me of Fornasetti, being both classic yet striking. This would be perfect for displaying perfume bottles and candles on your dressing table.

I also wanted to include the above Kate Spade Notebook Set as the notebooks themselves are rather lovely, as well as being a total bargain. Kate Spade is a fantastic brand for gifting, and these super cute notebooks are now half price at only £7.00 in the Amara sale.

I’ve shared these flowers a couple of times on my social pages now, and each time someone has commented saying how stunning they are. These Cote Noire Lillies & Roses are just so beautiful, including blush pink roses and lilies in an adorned clear glass vase with a striking silver Cote Noir logo. From the outer packaging to the vase and flowers themselves, this really is the height of luxury gifting and would make a fantastic Valentine’s present.

I should also mention that these flowers are fake – in case you weren’t sure. They’ve been skilfully handcrafted, and are of exceptional quality. They also come with two 10ml fragrance spray bottles of Spring Flower & Rose Petal scents, so you can spritz the petals and fragrance your home as and when you like.

And lastly, I have this lovely Umbra Prisma Photo Display – if you haven’t heard of Umbra, they’re another favourite brand of mine, making a large range of home accessories including plenty of rose gold and geometric details, which is right up my street. I’ll be putting one of my wedding pictures in this frame very soon and having it on display in my kitchen – I think it looks great!

So what do you think of my Amara Living gift ideas? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Valentine’s Gift Guide for Her

Posted on

Hi Guys!

Valentine’s day is almost upon us, and this is the first of three gift guides I have for you – the others will be coming up either later today or tomorrow morning. This gift guide is ‘for her’ and I’ve included loads of gorgeous bits and pieces that pretty much anyone would be happy to receive. There’s gift items in here, chocolates, alcohol, makeup and fragrance. I hope you enjoy!

I have to start this guide with one of my favourite recent fragrance launches – Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Intense EDP (£61.00 for 50ml at Boots) – Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique fragrance really is a ‘classic’ – it was one of my very first, and favourite scents many years ago, and this this brand new intense version is just stunning. It’s very similar to the original, but heavier and more sensual. I know for a fact that fans of the original Classique will love this.

  • Top Notes: Pomegranate, Tiare Flower.
  • Heart Notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Rose.
  • Base Notes: Patchouli, Vanilla.

Another new fragrance which is perfect for Valentine’s day is Agent Provocateur Pure Aphrodisiaque (£51.50 for 40ml at The Fragrance Shop) This is a romantic, floral fruity and musky scent. I was actually expecting something a lot heavier, but this is quite light and flirty, yet still very feminine and seductive. There are a few different gift set options available for this fragrance too which are perfect for Valentine’s day.

  • Top Notes: Mandarin, Anjou Pear and Rum.
  • Heart Notes: Jasmine, Wild Orchid and Indian Sambac.
  • Base Notes: Woods, Skin Musk and Amber Creme.

And lastly for fragrances I have Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely EDT (£11.00 for 30ml at Debenhams) which is a great option for those on a budget. The inspiration behind Sarah Jessica Parker’s first scent ‘Lovely’ was her love of layering scents. What became of this inspiration is a feminine and timeless signature scent for woman of all ages.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, Lavender and Apple Martini.
  • Heart Notes: Patchoile, Paperwhites and Creamy Orchid.
  • Base Notes: Cedarwood, White amber, Sultry Woods and Musk.

On the subject of good deals, I also wanted to include the Skinchemists Rose Quartz Youth Facial Oil (£99.00 at Skinchemists) as this is currently on offer for £24.00, plus I have a discount code, so if you input TSNCBLOG at the checkout it will bring this down to £19.99 – what a bargain!

Skinchemists Youth Facial Oil is infused with a blend of hydrating, nourishing and protecting actives, to provide essential vitamins and minerals for the skin to leave the complexion illuminated, hydrated and refined. It contains Rose Otto Oil to help restore the moisture balance in the skin, Vitamin E to reduce skin damage, and Almond Oil to provide deep hydration and nourishment. The perfect product for increasing skin radiance, just 2-3 drops of this wonder oil are needed to cover the face and neck.

And what would valentine’s day be without a little tipple? Warner Edwards Rhubarb Gin Tin (£19.50 at Drink Finder) is a great choice for Valentine’s day as it tastes amazing, and it’s also pink! This gin is best served over ice and with a splash of tonic or ginger ale, to enjoy authentic British craft at its best.

And I had to include the Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip in ASOS Nude (£16.00 exclusively at ASOS) – this liquid lipstick has literally just arrived and I have to say I think I’m in love! Beauty Bakerie have two exclusive ASOS shades, one in Red and one Nude, and they dry down to a lovely matte finish that literally won’t budge all day.

Moving on to jewellery, I have these super pretty Vamp London Silver Spike Earrings (£55.00 at Browns Family Jewellers) which are Inspired by the Gothic architecture of Venice. They are from the Hidden Mask Collection, which is very 50 Shades-esque. It’s all about glamorous decadent parties, hushed whispers and intimate encounters. Considering these earrings are only £55.00, I think they’re incredibly pretty and delicate, and would make a wonderful gift.

Hopefully you can see at the back right hand side of the table, there is what looks to be a box of biscuits. But this is in fact Belgian Chocolate Biscuit Chocolates (£9.95 at Prezzybox) – these chocolates look exactly like some of your favourite biscuits. There’s jammy dodger in there, a pink wafer, and a party ring to name a few – but they’re all made of dark, milk and white belgian chocolate!

The NARS True Story Set (£35.00 exclusively at ASOS) is a stunning palette of four limited edition blushes in shades: Devotee, Myth, Unwritten, Outlaw. It also includes a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in shade Mysterious Red, which is the perfect colour for a true red lip.

I’ve also recently been trying out some of the new Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet Lipsticks, and I’ve really been enjoying their super thick and creamy formula. I won’t go onto too much detail as I’ve already posted about them – but you can see my original review here.

For the person that has everything, what about this super sweet Silver Love Heart Trinket (£14.95 at Prezzybox) – this is an exact replica of a love heart sweet – the same size and everything, with a lovely silver plated finish. It’s a cute little keepsake gift to show someone how much you care.

This little Heart Trinket Dish (£6.95 at Prezzybox) is another fantastic bargain gift. It’s small enough to hold in the palm of your hand, and just the right size to keep small jewellery items like rings and bracelets together. The ‘Love You to the Moon and Back’ quote is a lovely touch for Valentine’s day.

Another stunning jewellery item is this Milan City Bracelet Stack (£155.00 at Annie Haak) – this super dainty stack of five sterling silver bracelets has a selection of tiny charms hanging from them, and can also be customised with an initial of your choice.

For something fun, what about this Red Face Purse (£15.00 at Emma Lomax) – this cute little fabric purse is adorned with striking lips and eyelashes, and comes in either red or pink. It’s also just the right size for carrying your cards and change.

I also wanted to include this Napoli Red Leather Journal (£32.99 at Pen Heaven) perfect for those that like to keep a written journal, or for someone that’s always writing down notes, this handmade leather jour name features a wrap-round cover, traditional gilded pages, and a heart symbol has been embossed in gold leaf in the bottom right corner, making it an ideal romantic gift.

And lastly of course, the amazing Love Carnival Light (£27.50 from Find Me a Gift) – this would make such a fun and unusual gift for someone who’s into home accessories. I love how the bright red stands out so much, and I think this is going to end up living in my conservatory 🙂

So there we have it! I hope this has given you some inspiration whether you’re buying or hoping to receive this Valentine’s day. Please also keep your eye out for my next two gift guide posts which will be coming up very soon.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: Paul & Joe SS17 Limited Edition Collection

Posted on February 8, 2017

Hi Guys!

I thought I’d follow the beautiful Penhaligon’s fragrance from earlier today with some equally beautiful makeup for you to feast your eyes on this evening.

You probably know by now that I’m a complete sucker for pretty packaging. If it’s cute, colourful, sparkly, weird or just plain unusual then I need it in my life. So quite obviously Paul & Joe’s makeup range ticks all the boxes for me – and when some samples of their new SS17 collection arrived at TSNC HQ last week, I actually squealed with delight! (I mean I literally did. If you saw my Instagram Stories that day you’ll have seen how happy I was!)

The Face & Eye Colour Palette (£25.00) is easily the stand out product in the limited edition SS17 collection. I wasn’t really sure what it was exactly when I saw the outer packaging which said ‘Eye and Cheek CS’, but on opening it up I found literally THE CUTEST little box inside, with the sweetest cat print on top, and a pouffy ‘cat paw’ applicator on a stick, adorned with a sweet little bow. I mean these cats are wearing glasses and ties, what’s not to love!? This is most definitely the most adorable makeup product I’ve ever seen.

The box opens to reveal a stunning eye and cheek palette in the shape of a cat, with a background of white hearts. There are three options to choose from, and the one I have is shade 109 Mon Petit Chat. Personally I would say this is more of a collectors item, rather than a makeup product you’d actually use – that’s just because I hoard pretty things though 🙂 The shades available are –

  • 107 Smitten Kitten – Terracotta and deep rosy red.
  • 108 Poupounette – Shimmering orange bronze and pink.
  • 109 Mon Petit Chat – Bright and dusky pinks.

Fans of the brand will know that Paul & Joe are ALL about the cats. Cats and flowers and cute quirky patterns. And their cat head lipsticks are definitely another must have product. I should also mention here that many of Paul & Joe’s products come in separate parts and are interchangeable. So for the lipsticks you can buy individual outer cases with separate lipstick bullet refills, and mix and match as you please.

Their spring print Lipstick Cases (£7.00) come in three options, and I have the Bold Flower print one above. And the individual Lipstick Refills (£14.00) for this season come in two colour options with a 3D cat face tip –

  • 103 Russian Blue – Clear coloured lipstick that turns slightly different shades of pink on different skin.
  • 104 Persian Pink – Bright pop of pink.

And lastly the Eye Colour Trio (£23.00) – again the actually trio of eyeshadows comes as a separate component to the Compact Case (£7.00) that you put them in. This dinky little eyeshadow trio comes in three different options for SS17. The shadows are highly pigmented and smooth on application, and the mini size of the palette means it’s perfect for throwing in your makeup bag when you’re on the go. The shades available are –

  • Mon Prince – Naturals, light pink, purple and red brown.
  • Mon Nounours – Salmon pink, gunmetal and black.
  • Mon Coeur – Golden sand, bright light pink and deep pink.

The empty outer Compact Cases will also fit any of Paul & Joes other eyeshadow trios or blushers, and come in three super cute designs. I think you can guess which one I have –

  • Floral – White and grey stripes with a floral pattern.
  • Swallows – Swallows on a light blue background.
  • Bold Flowers – White with a black, red and blue floral design.

Paul & Joe Cosmetics are available at Beauty Bay and ASOS, and both sites have sales on Paul & Joe right now so make sure you take a look!

Fragrance: Penhaligon’s Portraits Collection Chapter 2 – Clandestine Clara

Posted on

Hi Guys!

Just before Christmas I went on a wonderful walking tour of London with one of my favourite fragrance brands, Penhaligon’s. At the end of the very fun and informative tour, we headed to the nearest store to try out their wonderful fragrances, and this is where I discovered their stunning Portraits Collection…

If you’re a fragrance fanatic you’ll probably be aware that most scents have a story behind them – with some being more involved than others. Penhaligon’s has taken this to another level though with their Portrait’s collection, Penhaligon’s describe this an an ‘olfactory fiction’ where each character or ‘portrait’ is represented by a different fragrance, with a complex and intriguing story attached to each.

To set the scene, we need to head back in time and immerse ourselves into the depths of the British aristocracy. The Portraits collection originates with four fragrances, and follows the story of Lord George and Lady Blanche, their daughter Dutchess Rose, and her husband Duke Nelson. I’ll touch on each of these characters briefly so you can get the gist of the characters and the story…

The Tragedy of Lord George EDP – Lord George is a wealthy and respected man, the archetypal patriarch. He seems to embody the noblest values of the aristocracy: virtue, respect, loyalty and faithfulness. His fragrance reflects his essence; seemingly traditional, yet with hidden secrets.

The Revenge of Lady Blanche EDP – Lady Blanche A darling of London Society, and one of the most influential ladies in Britain. Her aloof beauty, mysterious past and blazing passions are scrutinised by all, and she would do anything to climb the social ladder still further. Her latest scheme is to poison her husband, Lord George, inheriting his wealth and burying his secrets for ever! Her fragrance reflects her very essence: a green floral narcotic.

The Coveted Duchess Rose EDP – Daughter of Lady Blanche and Lord George, Rose married a Duke to escape the stifling rigidity of her family and to become the Coveted Duchess Rose. At first, naively romantic, she has now become disillusioned and frustrated in an unsatisfactory marriage. Always looking for fun and frivolity (and perhaps love affairs), her fragrance is a not so innocent fresh rose.

Much Ado About The Duke EDP – Conforming to the expectations of his class, Duke Nelson married the most coveted girl in London: the Duchess Rose. Yet the Duke is eccentric and unusual, his whimsical airs set society tongues wagging. His perfume is as ambivalent as he is: a floral yet masculine woody fragrance.

And now Penhaligon’s have introduced two new fragrances to the collection that represent the ‘unofficial’ side of Lord George’s dynasty –

Clandestine Clara EDP – A complex creature… A forceful personality, spicy but equally sweet, she has travelled in exotic countries and company – and in her smoky, velvety, woody air you may detect a memory (or three) of his Lordship… She is rebellious, contradictory, independent, unconventional – a woman ahead of her time. But above all, as you will discover, she is a true gourmand, completely delectable (and Lord George would know).

Roaring Radcliff EDP – The secret illegitimate son of Lord George and Clandestine Clara, he’s the sexy and rebellious party animal that indulges in fast cars and even faster wome. A prominent note with Roaring Radcliff is of course tobacco – strong, smoky and distinctive to his set. He also always carries with him gingerbread – adding its sweet spiciness to his father’s love of liquor – in Rutherford’s rum.

Clandestine Clara EDP is a sensual amber oriental, that’s both voluptuous and confident without being overbearing. This fragrance is beautifully enticing, warm, and comforting, whilst being both spicy and smoky. It has a heady depth that’s enticingly gourmand with its vanilla and cinnamon notes, and is amazingly long lasting on the skin. After one spray in the morning, I can still smell this on myself in the evening.

Clandestine Clara is a distinctly feminine fragrance, without being too floral or sweet. It’s sophisticated and confident at first, turning into a soft enveloping embrace of scent on the skin. The notes are as follows –

  • Top Note: Rhum Vanilla
  • Heart Note: Cinnamon Musk
  • Base Note: Ambery Patchouli

You can also see the bottle is simply stunning, as are the rest in this collection. Clandestine Clara is available at Penhalion’s now, and you can read more about the amazing Portraits collection here.
