NEW Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Secrets Collection

Posted on September 25, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have a few new launches from the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Secrets collection to share with you today – the cinematic Hollywood collection contains ten liquid matte lipsticks and two new contour and beauty light wands to make you look and feel like you’ve just stepped out of a Hollywood screen…

Starting with the brand new Hollywood Wands – the Hollywood Contour Wand and Hollywood Beauty Light Wand (£29.00 each) have been designed to contour and highlight your skin to perfection.

So firstly, as this is a ‘wand’ product, it means the product itself is contained in a tube, which you squeeze making it come out of the cushion head applicator at the top. There is also an ‘open’ and ‘close’ twist option at the tip, which is an excellent idea – imagine if you accidentally squeezed the tube, sat on it or stood on it (the type of thing I’d do!) the product would just squeeze straight out and it’d be wasted. The tip is designed so you can apply directly to the face – but you’ll still need a brush or beauty blender to blend the product out.

The Hollywood Contour Wand promises to give the perfect lightweight, blendable, buildable formula to create a well-contoured face. It’s available in two shades, Light to Medium and Medium to Dark. Being super pale I’ve gone for the Light to Medium option, hoping that it will suit my ghostly white skin tone and not be too dark. The formula is a lightweight cream that has just the right amount of pigmentation to give a natural look that isn’t too heavy.

The Hollywood Beauty Light Wand goes perfectly with the above contour wand. This is only available in one shade though, which is a light rose gold with a touch of silver, that promises to flatter all skin tones. The Hollywood Beauty Light Wand contains treated pearls to brighten and highlight, giving a luminous complexion with a soft-focused finish, and it also contains light reflecting particles for a natural glow. The formula is a thin fluid which leaves a beautiful sheen on the skin – you’ll find no shimmer or glitter here.

I’ve been trying out both wands recently and I’ve really been enjoying using them. The wand itself makes application quick and easy, and the shades I have a work perfectly well with my pale skin tone. The highlighter is my favourite though, I love how you can apply the product to give a very subtle natural look, or build it up to an intense ‘Glowing for the Gods’ highlight.

The above products are advised to be blended with the new Hollywood Complexion Brush (£30.00) – this is a 2-in-1 multi-purpose cruelty free contour brush made with advanced synthetic fibres, for effortlessly blending your makeup. As you can see it’s dual ended, with the large flat-top head brush allowing you to achieve a flawless base quickly & effortlessly – this is perfect for contour blending and softening any harsh lines, and the angled small head brush is made for precise contouring, as well as concealing under the eyes, around the nose or small curvatures of the face.

And lastly I have one of the new Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipsticks (£24.00) – I feel like it’s taken a while for Charlotte Tilbury to get on the Liquid Lipstick bandwagon, but now that they have, these are definitely not lipsticks you’ll want to miss. There are ten wearable shades available, ranging from a light beige nude to a deep intense red…

I have Show Girl which is a gorgeous muted pinky red shade that’s perfect for Autumn. The formula as you can see is really quite thick and moussey, but it actually feels very lightweight on the lips, with a velvety matte finish. You can wear a single swipe for a soft matte look, or it can be built up easily for an intensely pigmented finish.

All the above products are available now at Charlotte Tilbury and Selfridges.

Beauty: Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks

Posted on September 21, 2017

Hi Guys!

One of the latest launches from Too Faced has just landed at TSNC HQ, and I want to share all the details with you today!

If you’re a fan of Too Faced, you’ll know they’ve brought out a few versions of their classic Melted Liquid Lipsticks over the last couple of years. There’s been the Melted Mattes, Melted Metals and Melted Chocolate lipsticks – and now we have the Melted Latex Liquified Lipsticks.

The Melted Latex lipsticks combine the same highly pigmented Melted formula that we all know and love, but with a high shine ‘latex’ finish…

Using exclusive technology that keeps high-shine lipsticks liquid, Melted Latex redefines the lips with honey-like texture that ensures gloss clings to lips with a latex shine. The Doe-foot applicator comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, buildable, lacquered color that lasts for hours.

There are currently 15 shades available, the 6 shades I have are (in order) –

  • Hopeless Romantic – a light nude peach.
  • Peekaboo – a light warm toned peach pink
  • Twilight Zone – a light cool toned lilac.
  • Safe Word – a light cool toned baby pink.
  • Love You Long Time – a cool toned pink.
  • Hot Mess – a pink toned burgundy red.

You can see that the formula is extremely pigmented and opaque – to me the Melted Latex lipsticks offer the perfect combination of a lipstick and a gloss, you have fantastic pigmentation with a high shine finish, but as you’d expect these don’t dry down like a liquid lipstick, it’s very much like a thick, but lightweight and non sticky gloss on the lips. I’ve worn a few shades now and I have to say I’m loving the formula, as well as the shade selection – these are a great alternative to matte liquid lipsticks which have been dominating the market for what feels like forever.

Too Faced’s Melted Latex Liquified Lipsticks are £19.00 each and available now at Debenhams.

Beauty: Clarins Graphik Autumn 2017 Make-Up Collection

Posted on September 7, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have one of my favourite brands, Clarins back on the blog again today with their brand new Graphik Autumn Winter 2017 collection…

This Autumn, discover instant beauty perfection with Clarins Graphik collection. Eyes are enhanced with magnetic colour and shaped with graphic lines, whilst lips and cheeks are dressed with a pink glow.

Starting with the 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette (£34.00) – Clarins’ classic 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palette is back for AW17 offering a collection of wearable autumnal tones. The palette is 06 Forest includes two rich green shades, one subtle with a satin finish, the other a deep shade with a glimmering finish, as well as a dark matte grey shade complimented by a soft pink which is perfect for highlighting the inner corner of the eye and under the brow bone.

Next the Ombre Matte Single Eyeshadow (£19.00) – I really can’t get enough of this shade, 10 Midnight Blue is a stunning iridescent midnight blue which is perfect for a more colourful take on the classic smoky eye. The Ombre Matte formula is gorgeous too, offering the comfort and smoothing effect of a cream with the fine quality and hold of a powder.

And the collection also includes three beautiful Joli Rouge Lipsticks (£20.00) – I have 756 Guava (above centre) which is a slightly orange toned pink, and 754 Deep Red (above right) which is a gorgeous intense red. I’m a big fan of the Joli Rouge lipstick formula, which feels smooth and moisturising on the lips thanks to the added organic marsh samphire extract and mango oil, whilst providing a lovely satin finish with wonderful pigmentation.

There’s also two new shades of Lipliner Pencil (£17.50) – I have 06 Red which is a classic true red shade that will suit most red lipsticks. The Clarins Lipliner Pencil has a firm and sharp enough point to give the definition you’d want from a lipliner, with soft and smooth formula that feels comfortable on application.

And lastly the Graphik Ink Eyeliner (£21.00) – this comes in one shade, 01 Intense Black which promises an intense black line in one stroke thanks to its pure “carbon black” pigments. This eyeliner really does give a fantastically sharp line – I love the pointed felt tip which is makes application super easy, as well as incredibly accurate. The formula is both long wearing and transfer proof, meaning that no matter what look you go for, you know It’s going to last all day.

The Clarins Graphic Autumn 2017 Collection is available now at Clarins and House of Fraser.

Beauty: MAC Rollerwheel Eyeliner, Bold & Bad Lash Mascara & Metallic Lipsticks

Posted on September 5, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have a few of the latest launches from MAC to share with you today – starting with their rather exciting Rollerwheel Eyeliner…

You’ve probably heard about the Rollerwheel Liquid Eyeliner (£16.50) or ‘pizza cutter’ eyeliner by now, as it’s been talked about quite a lot recently. This completely new and innovative approach to eyeliner has got beauty fans across the globe excited – the idea being that a teeny tiny wheel is ran across the lash line to give a perfectly even and straight line – but does it actually work?

Well, rather like the Benefit They’re Real Push Up Eyeliner, which was quite a weird and wonderful concept at the time of launch, the roller wheel does take a bit of getting used to. The tiny spinning disc does give a nice sharp line, which is very fine indeed, and would take most people quite a few goes to get it to a decent thickness. However, if you like a super thin line applied close to the lash line, this could be the product for you. Be prepared to practice though as the applicator does take a bit of getting used to.

This is available in Black, Brown and Blue, in both matte and shine finishes.

Next I have the new Bold & Bad Lash Mascara (£19.50) – this mascara is basically two products in one. It has a dual chamber which contains a large brush for the upper lashes, and a mini brush for lower lashes – with each having different mascara formulas to suit the upper and lower lashes too.

The formula promises to do everything you’d expect, apart from being flake proof and smudge proof, the larger brush delivers customized volume to the top, whilst separating the lashes, while the smaller brush creates smudge-proof definition to the bottom.

Though personally my super short lashes find the large main brush a bit on the big side, I love the mini brush for the bottom lashes, and the formula is fantastic too.

And lastly I have a few of the new limited edition Metallic Lipsticks to show you. There are 18 shades to choose from offering rich colour with smooth pearlized chrome finish, in a wide range of colours. The 18 shades are as follows –

  • Royal Hour – a deep royal purple with blue pearl.
  • Foiled Rose – a brightened blue pink.
  • Hades Fire – a cool red burgundy.
  • Silver Spoon – a multidimensional silver.
  • In Lust – a light warm neutral.
  • Jupiter – a bronzed neutral.
  • Pearly One – a confetti’ed white frost.
  • Disobedient – a deep burgundy red wine.
  • Anything Once – a blackened blue with multi-colored pearl.
  • Metalwork – a pale beige with golden shimmer.
  • Love’s A Gamble – a light pink with peach and silver shimmer.
  • Rose-Dipped – a mid-tone pink with gold and silver shimmer.
  • Wild Nectar – a rose with silver shimmer.
  • Optix – an orange with gold pearl.
  • Ionized Iris – a bright fuchsia with multi-color pearl.
  • Forbidden Romance – a brick red with multi-dimensional pearl
  • Pale Rose – a cool muted neutral pink.
  • Cold Front – a frosted periwinkle blue.

I have a few of the more out-there shades, as well as a more wearable pink, swatched from top to bottom above –

  • Anything Once – a blackend blue with multi-colored pearl.
  • Rose-Dipped – a midtone pink with gold and silver shimmer.
  • Royal Hour – a deep royal purple with blue pearl.
  • Cold Front – a frosted periwinkle blue.

You can see all the shades offer decent pigmentation, but are still on the sheer side. If you’re looking for full coverage then these are not for you! However, they do look great worn on top of a liquid lipstick, which gives a nice base to set off the shimmer and sparkles.

All the above products are available to purchase now at MAC and Selfridges.

Beauty: New Dior Products at Feelunique

Posted on August 22, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have the pleasure today of trying out, and sharing with you a few exciting new products from Dior Beauty at Feelunique. I have a gorgeous eyeshadow palette, a new lip tint, and a cushion foundation, as well as a couple of new fragrances – lets get stuck in!

Starting with the Dior Addict Lip Tattoo (£25.00) – described as the first long wear lip tint by Dior, the Lip Tattoo promises 10-hour hold with a comfortable, weightless formula, as well as a no transfer finish.

Though it looks like a normal lipstick, the Lip Tattoo is far from what you’d expect from a traditional liquid lipstick – the Lip Tattoo has a light liquid texture that feels barely there on the lips, and it applies with a sheer finish that gives lips a light flush of colour while boosting their natural tone. I have shade Natural Rosewood 491 which is a pretty muted rose shade that’s subtle in terms of colour and slightly deepens the shade of my natural lips – it’s the perfect lip stain for the coming Autumn.

I also have one of the many 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes (£45.00) – this gorgeous palette is in option 767 Inflame, and it contains five beautiful eyeshadows in both matte and satin finishes. I’m beyond impressed with both the pigmentation and the texture of these eyeshadows – they’re buttery soft and really do blend like a dream. I particularly love the middle shade which is a pretty matte coral pink, and the bottom left shade which is a deeper rose toned pink with a lovely shimmer finish.

And lastly for makeup, the Diorskin Forever Cushion Foundation (£35.00) – promising a perfect complexion for up to 16hrs, the Diorskin Forever Cushion Foundation contains fine mattifying powders to instantly create the perfect luminous matte finish, as well as a combination of two Wear-Lock polymers which adorn the skin in a stretchy veil to set the texture and pigments.

I have the lightest shade available, 011 Cream. Initially I thought this may be slightly on the yellow side, but on application it actually suited my neutral skin tone well. It was also lighter coverage that what I was expecting, which is fine but personally I like a little more coverage than what this foundation offers. The finish however, was really nice. It was definitely matte, yet velvety rather than an intense matte, and it also gave my complexion a slight luminosity which I loved. This is definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a base with a light, natural matte finish.

On to fragrance now, I have the beautiful Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming EDP (from £49.50 for 30ml) – Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming is the new olfactory variation of Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, and it’s a wonderfully joyful floral scent that’s easy to wear every day –

The fragrance opens with tangy and striking top notes of Red Berry Accord, with Raspberry, Pomegranate and Blackcurrant Accord heightened by the spicy teasing tingle of Pink Peppercorn. At the heart the magnificent Grasse Rose Absolute unfurls in perfect harmony with the beautifully spirited Rosa Damascena, while the exquisite May Rose embraces a radiant Peony Accord. The base of White Musk notes envelops the entire composition to leave you with a fresh and rounded finish.

  • Top Notes: Raspberry, Pomegranate, Blackcurrant and Pink Peppercorn.
  • Heart Notes: Grasse Rose Absolute, Rosa Damascena, May Rose and Peony Accord.
  • Base Notes: White Musks.

And lastly J’Adore In Joy EDT (from £59.00 for 50ml) – whenever I see a J’Adore fragrance bottle, I always imagine Charlize Theron strutting towards the camera whilst ripping off her jewellery fin the iconic TV advert… anyway, J’Adore In Joy is the latest fragrance in the J’Adore family.

For this scent, Dior perfumers have created an original note – Fleur de Sel that seems to sit on the tip of your tongue. Described as both joyful and fresh, this note is instantly charming and equally compelling. At the heart shines tropical and solar Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine Sambac, leading to a base of a fruity, juicy Peach note, giving the fragrance velvety softness that renders the composition even more delicious.

  • Top Notes: Fleur de sel.
  • Heart Notes: Ylang Ylang and Jasmine Sambac.
  • Base Notes: Peach.

All the above products and more are available now at Feelunique.

Beauty: Real Techniques Powder Bleu Brush Collection #PowderBleu

Posted on August 1, 2017

Hi Guys!

It seems like a really long time since I’ve mentioned Real Techniques on the blog – as in years. Even though I actually use their standard brushes quite frequently, it’s been a while since they’ve launched any products that have caught my eye – so I was really excited when I heard about their brand new Powder Bleu collection…

The Powder Bleu range of brushes have been specifically designed by Real Techniques to apply, blend, buff and set powders without disturbing the make-up underneath. They have the signature Real Techniques long sleek handles, similar to the Bold Metals range, but this time the colour-way is navy blue, bleeding into black for an ombre effect on the brush handles.

You probably wouldn’t have guessed, but this brush collection is in fact based on blue squirrel hair, which is known for its fine filaments, luxurious softness, and flawless powder application. It’s said to be quite rare, and used in only the most expensive makeup brushes. Real Techniques have re-created their own synthetic version of blue squirrel hair with their new FauxBleu™ Technology – they promise their synthetic bristles perform just as well as the real thing.

Starting with the B05 Soft Kabuki Brush (£25.00) – This super large kabuki brush has been designed to buff and blend powders into the skin, anywhere on the face and body. The handle is solid and easy to hold, and the bristles are super soft. Personally for me I find this a little too large for use on the face, but it’s perfect for buffing in both bronzer and highlighter on the neck, chest and shoulders.

Next the Plush Powder Puff (£12.00) – This soft, velvety powder puff has been designed to help tap on just the right amount of powder to set any makeup look. Again this is pretty large, but it’s also flexible so I don’t mind the size. The finish is amazingly soft, almost like velvet, and it does a great job of pressing loose powder into the skin for both baking and setting your makeup.

And now on to the brushes, from left to right above starting with the B03 Soft Complexion Brush (£22.00) – this brush has a domed, soft yet dense head that has been designed specifically to blend and buff powder foundation into skin for buildable, customizable shine-free coverage.

Next the B01 Soft Powder Brush (£22.00) has has a large tapered head and is perfect for applying powder bronzers and highlighters, as well as loose powder foundations and finishing powders. Again as this is quite a large brush, it will work really well on both the face and body.

The B04 Soft Shadow Brush (£15.00) is the only eyeshadow brush in the collection. This is perfect for layering and blending out powder eye shadows. The long soft bristles help to gently spread powder eyeshadow while blending it into the skin for a naturally diffused look. You can also use this brush for applying more detailed powder highlighter to smaller areas of the face such as the brow bone, tip of the nose, or chin.

And lastly the B02 Soft Finishing Brush (£22.00) – this is very much like a mini version of the B01 Soft Powder Brush, but this time with a small tapered head. This brush is perfect for sweeping on powder blush or highlighter without upsetting any product underneath. This brush is just the right size to apply a light cheek contour too.

The Real Techniques Powder Bleu Collection is available now exclusively at Boots.
