Christmas: Stunning Luxury Beauty & Fragrance Gifts

Posted on December 20, 2016

Hi Guys!

I’ve just finished the final instalment of my Christmas beauty gift guides – and I think I’ve definitely saved the best till last! This guide is all about luxury fragrance, makeup and skincare, where no price is too high. I hope you enjoy!

Starting with the Benefit Blushin’ Babe Set – this limited edition palette contains five of Benefit’s famous cheek & face powders, as well as signature tips and tricks leaflet to show you how to wear them, and also a They’re Real Mascara, Eyeliner and Watt’s up highlighter. Everything in this set is in mini form, making an affordable way to try before committing to purchasing full sized products.

For fragrance, Annick Goutal Les Absolus Rose Oud EDP is a stunning luxury scent, described as a new interpretation of some the finest raw materials in perfumery – Agarwood and Turkish rose, Les Absolus Rose Oud is both a unique and sensual fragrance. The perfume combines coriander and cardamom for a spicy freshness, leading to a sensual heart of Turkish rose. Oud and incense leave a woody, mysterious and enveloping trail, rounding out this captivating scent.

Another beautiful luxury scent is Elie Saab Nuit Noor – a perfume of contrasts. Beirut, the muse behind this new fragrance, is an icon of modernity in the Middle East and a city revered for its captivating contrasts. One of these is its light – noor in Arabic – that reflects off the sea and city, to set the velvety night sky aglow. Light shines through in a honeyed bouquet of soft Rose made still more radiant by the essence of Ylang-ylang. And, to conjure the night, an accord of spicy, woody notes run throughout the composition in Black Pepper and Incense, across a majestic backdrop of Indonesian Patchouli. This scent is simply stunning!

And Serge Lutens Baptême du feu EDP – translating to Baptism of Fire, this woody scent is a wonderful unisex accord, interestingly inspired by combat. Sitting somewhere between good and evil, this is a fiery scent with addictive notes of gingerbread, powdery notes, tangerine, castoreum and osmanthus. A must try for fans of Serge Lutens.

And I had to include the stunning, Penhaligon’s Oud de Nil EDP – part of Penhaligon’s Trade Routes Collection, Oud de Nil is most definitely a tribute to Ancient Egypt in all its fragrant glory. It takes you on an olfactory cruise down the Nile, with crisp notes of grapefruit and bergamot combined with rich jasmine, oud and papyrus. Not as heavy as you’d expect, this delicate fragrance is perfect for both day and night.

Back to makeup now, with the YSL Extremely Set – this stunning palette arrives housed in a glossy red case which can be re-used after the products are gone. Inside is a beautiful make-up palette offering enough products to give a full eyes, lips and cheeks makeover – there are four eyeshadows, a highlighter, two blushers, three lip shades, a lip gloss, a mini mascara and mini brushes included.

The NARS ASOS Exclusive Orgasm Blush & Illuminator Set really needs no introduction – with Orgasm being one of the most iconic blush shades ever made, this gorgeous set contains a full sized Orgasm Blush, as well as a mini Illuminator, in striking limited edition packaging.

On to skincare now with a couple more high end treats – the 111Skin Space Anti Age Emulsion is a powerful moisturiser that aims to combat signs of ageing and keep skin hydrated, leaving you with a radiant, revitalised complexion. Enriched with vitamins to repair skin, the luxurious moisturiser promotes collagen production and contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to retain moisture levels and plump skin for a youthful look.

And the 111Skin Space Anti Oxidant Booster utilises an advanced, anti-ageing formula that delivers an extra boost of vital antioxidants to revive your skin and protect from environmental aggressors. The concentrated blend combines vitamin C with flavonoid rich Grape seed extract to prevent premature ageing and create a defence barrier against daily pollution.

And what would luxury beauty gifting be without a high end lipstick? The YSL Rouge Pur Couture Matte Lipsticks would make fantastic Christmas gifts or stocking fillers. These beautifully packaged lipsticks promise to saturate lips with intense, stay-true colour, with medium to full coverage, and a radiant, satin finish for up to 6 hours wear.

The Nude By Nature Complexion Essentials Starter Kit is a fantastic set for those interested in trying out Nude by Nature products – which really are underrated. This set contains a selection of mini sized base products, giving you the perfect opportunity to get a feel for the brand. This beautifully presented set includes a Perfecting primer, Perfecting Concealer, Loose Powder Foundation, Loose Powder Bronzer, Translucent Loose Finishing Powder and an application brush – all housed in a leather look and rose gold case.

I just had to include the Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe in this guide – this gorgeous set opens to reveal three Christmas coffee scented palettes – Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Coffee, and Eggnog Latte. Each palette contains six eyeshadows in both matte and shimmer finishes, one large face product pan (either a blush or bronzer) and the set also contains a deluxe size Better Than Sex Mascara and a step-by-step how-to Glamour Guide with three beauty looks to get you started.

And finally back to NARS again. This is the gorgeous NARS Blame It On Nars Cheek Palette – this is a stunning exclusive palette containing four cult-favorite shades: the gilded Satellite of Love Highlighter, two limited-edition provocative pinks—Day Dream and New Attitude—and the iconic burnished Casino Bronzing Powder, paired with a mini Kabuki Ita Brush and expressive keepsake palette for literally turning cheeks!

luxury-christmas-candles

Hi Guys!

What is Christmas without a beautiful scented candle? I love nothing more than filling my home with festive scents to really get me into the Christmas spirit – and as there are so many wonderful wintry fragrances candles around right now, I’ve gathered together a selection of the best luxury scented candles to share with you today – enjoy!

diptyque-epice-et-delices-candle-review

Starting with the Diptyque Epice et Delices Candle (from £28.00) – Diptyque is the brand that really does tick all the boxes when it comes to candles. Their packaging is always striking and distinctive, and the scents are also to die for. This ‘Epice et Delices’ (Spices and Delights) candle is part of a trio of limited edition candles for winter 2016. Epice et Delices is a wonderfully warming spicy scent with notes of gingerbread, cinnamon, honey and star anise. It’s just perfect for a cost night in by the fire.

jo-malone-incense-and-embers-candle-review

Next we have the Jo Malone Incense & Embers Candle (£42.00) – Another favourite brand of mine, Jo Malone’s Christmas products are always on my wish list, and this Incense & Embers scented candle is just as gorgeous as I expected. The scent is sophisticated, relaxing and calming with notes of smoky incense, silver fir and white pepper. An element of sensuality is added with notes napa leather layered on a base of elegant vetiver and golden amber. This really is a must have candle for winter.

voluspa-spruce-cuttings-candle

I also have this absolutely stunning Voluspa Classic Maison Luxury Candle in Spruce Cuttings (£45.00) – now Voluspa is a brand I’ve never tried before, and I’m so glad I’ve discovered them! This candle is just so beautiful, with a striking festive green iridescent polished glass finish and matching lid – it really does feel luxurious and special. Their Spruce Cuttings scent is woody yet crisp and fresh, and instantly transports me to a winter wonderland. And though high in price, this candle will also last up to 100 hours, so it’s definitely worth the splurge.

la-montana-three-kings-candle-review

The La Montana Three Kings Candle (£35.00) is another beautiful, warming winter fragrance. This scent includes notes of cedarwood mingled with trampled pine needles, while frankincense and myrrh, mix with traditional, homemade turrón (almond nougat) and a brightening tot of brandy. The scent is heavy and evocative, and slightly masculine with almost an element of cologne to it. I really love this scent and this would also make a wonderful Christmas gift.

etta-french-nutmeg-orange-and-cinnamon-candle-review

Next we have the Etta French Nutmeg, Orange and Cinnamon Candle (£34.00) – if you haven’t heard of Etta French, they’re basically like a high end version of Jewel Candle – yes they have little packages of jewellery inside their candles! I really love this idea – I haven’t dug mine out yet so look out for another post in the coming weeks where I’ll show you what’s hidden inside this beautiful candle.

Onto the fragrance now though – Nutmeg, Orange & Cinnamon is a limited edition Christmas Fragrance; it’s described as the perfect seasonal soothing scent, evocative of cold winter days, fire lit nights and Christmas Cheer. I’m a big fan of cinnamon so this fragrance really appealed to me, it’s spicy, comforting and just smells exactly like Christmas!

Next The White Company Mistletoe Candle (£34.00 – behind reindeer) – This is a new limited edition scent, with notes of aromatic spruce, woody cedar, sweet muguet and rich amber. This scent encapsulates the essence of festive flirtation and kisses the air with its warming heart. This lovely candle is housed in a pretty ribbed glass vessel, with no visible logo, and its outer packaging is a beautiful white drum finished with a metallic ribbon. The whole look is elegant and understated – perfect for gifting a loved one this Christmas.

annick-goutal-noel-candle-review

And lastly the Annick Goutal Noel Candle (£44.00) – this is a classic Christmas candle from Annick Goutal. The fragrance is instantly recognisable – fresh, fresh and full-bodied, spicy and fruity. The flavour of citrus fruits, orange and mandarin from Brazil, the slightly acid bark of the pine from Siberia, heavy with an unforgettable scent of resin. A scent with the clarity of snow and the warmth of a house filled with impatient, excited children on Christmas Eve. This candle would make a wonderful Christmas treat!

And lastly I also wanted to mention this guy I picked up from Paperchase – Minty, as I’ve called him, is an awesome mint green coloured decorative reindeer – I love him!

I’d love to hear which candles you’ve been enjoying this winter? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Six Must Have Fragrances for Spring

Posted on May 9, 2016

fragrances-for-spring

Hello again, and happy Monday!

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend in the sun? We had some nice family time this weekend, with a lovely walk around Redgrave Fen, and I’ve also managed to catch a cold as well as hay fever… enough about me though! I have some wonderful and simply must-have scents to share with you today – let me talk you through my Six Spring Must Have Fragrances for 2016…

ysl-black-opium-niut-blanche-review

Let’s start with YSL black Opium Nuit Blanche – if you loved the original YSL Black Opium, Nuit Blanche is a definite must have for you. This is a gorgeously sensual, warm and intoxicating fragrance, and without a doubt this is an evening scent, it’s very similar to the original Black Opium though not quite as heavy, and definitely sweeter. It also has the familiar signature base of Black Opium – the White Coffee Accord which I absolutely love. Black Opium Nuit Blanche opens with notes of Rice Vapour and spicy Bourbon Pepper, it has a heart of exhilaratingly fresh and sharp Orange Blossom Absolute, and warming White Musk, Vanilla Absolute and sensual Sandalwood Essence at the base.

YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche is priced from £45.OO for 30ML, and available at YSL Beauty now.

ck2-review

Next, in a complete contrast to the above YSL scent, we have CK2 EDT. Described as ‘gender-free fragrance for a man or a woman, without prejudices’, CK2 is fresh yet warm, clean and energetic. I feel Calvin Klein have described the scent very well with the term gender-free. It’s almost like wearing clean clothing – there’s nothing sweet and feminine, nor musky and masculine in this fragrance. CK2 is a celebration of diversity –

We come together void of stereotypes and free of conformity; a youthful connection between two people to celebrate the differences that make our connections richer and define what makes us,  us. Life is better when we are 2.

The fragrance opens with top notes of Mandarin, Violet Leaf Absolute, and surprisingly, Wasabi. The heart of Orris Concrete, Rose Absolute and Wet Cobblestones combines a rich sensuality, with a wet, mineral splash to give a warming freshness to the fragrance. The base of Vetiver and Incense blends with creamy Sandalwood and Musks to give a complexingly fresh, yet magnetic warmth to the scent.

CK2 is available now priced from £30.00 for 30ml at House of Fraser.

annick-goutal-rose-pompon-review

Next we have Annick Goutal Rose Pompon – I often think Annick Goutal fragrances can be overlooked, it’s not necessarily the brand that might jump out at you the most from the shelves, but if you haven’t experienced her fragrances before, I strongly recommend you do. Rose Pompon is the latest rose based scent from Annick Goutal, and it’s a current favourite of mine. It’s easily one of the best rose fragrances I’ve tried – and I’ve tried quite a few! Rose Pompon is a gorgeously easy to wear fruity rose scent. It’s surprisingly complex, modern and bold, with spicy notes of Pink Pepper and green sparkling Blackcurrant, opening with the velvety rich notes of Raspberry. The heart carries a duo of rose extracts – Bulgarian Rose and Taïf Rose which is a rare flower with a suave and sensual scent. The fragrance is sealed with a hint of Peony, woody Cedar and powdery Patchouli, followed by an exquisite note of White Musk.

Annick Goutal Rose Pompon EDT is priced from £59.00 for 50ml, and available now from John Lewis.

must-have-fragrances-for-spring-2016

diptyque-eau-des-sens-rview

And I had to include Diptyque Eau Des Sens – you may have noticed my Eau Des Sens Soap post a while back, I just couldn’t get enough of this scent, and now I’m completely in love with the EDP. Eau Des Sens is a beautifully warm and refreshing scent that’s perfect for the warmer weather.

Diptyque Eau Des Sens promises to bring you “the scent of the orange tree in its entirety, from the white petals of the orange blossom to the dark green leaves to the juicy, bitter Seville orange hanging off the branches” – and that’s exactly what it does. It has a wonderful juicy citrus opening – taking you straight to Italy. The scent is fresh and summery, with top notes of Orange Flower and Bitter Orange blending with Juniper Berry at the heart, and Angelica and earthy Patchouli combine perfectly at the woody base.

Again this is a unisex, or gender-free scent. This could literally be worn by anyone. It’s summery, fresh and vibrant. Fans of citrus, fans of Italy and of course fans of Diptyque will no doubt fall in love with this scent.

Diptyque Eau Des Sens EDP is from £60.00 for 50ml, and available now from John Lewis.

barbour-for-her-review

Next is Barbour For Her EDT – this is the first fragrance from Barbour, and it’s definitely a winner. I really wasn’t sure what to expect with this scent – Barbour as a brand to me is high end outwear, wax jackets, quilted coats, horses… so how does that interpret into a fragrance? Well Barbour For Her is just the perfect every day scent, I completely love it. I’ve had numerous people ask me what I was wearing when out and about with this scent on. It’s sweet, fresh and sophisticated. Opening with fresh, sparkling fruity notes of Red Currant, contrasted by spicy Pink Pepper, this scent contains a beautifully floral blend of Rose, Jasmine and Blush Peony at the heart, and sweet Vanilla combined with rich notes of Vetiver at the base. This really is a must have every day scent – I dare you to find somebody that doesn’t like this!

Barbour for Her EDT is priced from £40.00 for 50ml, and available now at Selfridges.

carven-labsolu-review

And lastly we have Carven L’Absolu – this is another perfect day to day scent. Heavier than the above Barbour fragrance, L’Absolu EDP is floral and intense – yet not too much to put you off wearing in the day time. It’s voluptuous and sensuous, with an element of clean freshness that won’t go un-noticed.

L’Absolu opens with top notes of fresh Italian Green Mandarin Essence, combined with sensual Madagascan Ylang Ylang Essence. L’Absolu then moves into intense middles notes of Egyptian Absolute Jasmine, emphasised by beautiful Tuberose and Iris. The base comprises of rich oriental, notes, enhanced by Patchouli, Sandalwood and Spanish Absolute Cistus.

Carven L’Absolu EDP is from £42.00 for 30ml and available now at John Lewis.

spring-perfumes

So there we have it, what a gorgeous selection hey? I really can’t choose my favourite out of these scents! I’d love to hear if you have any of these? And what your favourite perfume is at the moment?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Four Luxury Candles Perfect for Winter

Posted on January 13, 2016

luxury-winter-candles

Hi Guys!

Ok so I’ll be the first to admit, I do have a slight candle obsession. This has only been in recent years though. If you’d have suggested me spending £20 plus on a candle 10 years ago, I’d tell you to pull the other one! Maybe it’s because I have my own home now, and I want it to look and smell gorgeous? I also love the atmospheric and therapeutic attributes a candle can offer – candles can change the ambience of a room in a matter of moments, as well as creating a calming and relaxing environment.

Winter is definitely my favourite season for candles, I love the warming notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and Christmas spices wafting around my house on a cold winter’s day. So today I want to share some of my favourite luxury winter candles with you –

petits-rituels-by-the-fire-candle-review

First up is the Petits Rituels By the Fire Candle (£35.00) – This beautifully packaged candle arrives housed in chic white glass, with the Petits Rituels logo printed on the front. It has the most gorgeously warming festive scent, including spicy Cinnamon & Clove, zesty Orange and Lemongrass, which blended together give an uplifting, happy and warm feeling – it reminds me of drinking hot mulled wine on a cold winter’s day.

annick-goutal-noel-candle-review

Next is the beautiful Annick Goutal Noel Candle (£40.50) – Annick Goutal make some of the most stunning fragrances you can buy, and their candles are no exception. The Noel Candle is also a limited edition, only available over the winter months – why you’d want a candle like this any other month though I have no idea!

Apart from being decorative, the Noel candle has a beautifully nuanced scent, with notes of citrus fruits, spices, siberian pine and a strong flavour of resin. It’s a clean and fresh scent, it makes you think of being outdoors in the snow, waling through a forest in bright sunlight.

arran-aromatics-nutmeg-embers-candle-review

Next is the limited edition Arran Aromatics Nutmeg Embers Luxury Candle (Now on offer for £12.50) – Firstly I must apologise for the photo, this candle is actually printed in metallic silver on the inside of the glass, and with the glass itself being red and frosted, it makes the pattern and logo look a little blurry – hence why it looks out of focus!

This is a wonderfully large 295g candle, with a gorgeous comforting and warming seasonal scent. Nutmeg Embers captures the delicacy of nutmeg around a heart of spicy cardamom, cinnamon and cedarwood. Crowned with top notes of subtle citrus and imbued with aromatic vetiver. This is definitely a must have for the winter season, and at ono £12.50 it’s a bargain too!

diptyque-liquidambar-candle-review

And lastly the stunning Diptyque Liquidambar candle (from £28.00). Part of the 2015 holiday collection, Liquidambar is one of three limited edition candles designed by the painter Julien Colombier. This collection is dedicated to the olfactory attributes of trees – the artist provides the flow, the light, and the colours, and the Perfume House provides the texture, the flavours, and the fragrances.

Liquidambar is quite a masculine scent, it reminds me of a cologne though I can’t for the life of me think which one. There’s a definitely warmth to this candle, like sitting by the fire when it’s cold outside. It’s beautifully spicy, with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon (two of my favourite seasonal scents) and there’s also muscovado sugar, to add sweetness. This is the perfect candle to burn on a chilly winter’s evening.

So what do you think? Do you have any of these candles? I’d love to hear which candles you love to burn in winter?

Four Beautiful Fragrances to add to your Christmas List

Posted on November 16, 2015

fragrances-for-christmas

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend?

If you’re like me and you’re really into fragrances, I have some beauties to share with you today. I love nothing more than a niche perfume – something a little different, something that makes you sit up and take notice. And I have a few of them on the blog for you this morning, as well as a more conventional scent that’s just beautiful as well as affordable…

annick-goutal-1001-ouds

Annick Goutal – 1001 Ouds.

I actually had the pleasure of listening to a talk by Annick Goutal’s daughter Camille and business partner Isabelle Doyen recently at a fragrance event in London. It was so interesting to hear the process of creating a fragrance from their point of view. It’s so so so much more that just making a scent that smells nice. The thought and effort that goes on behind the scenes really was an eye opener for me.

Annick Goutal’s 1001 Ouds really is a beautiful oud fragrance. Unmistakably intense, you’re instantly transported to a fantasy world reminiscent of Arabian Nights… 1001 Ouds is a stunning yet heavy Arabian princesses’ cloak, beautifully embellished with gold and precious stones.

This fragrance is not for the faint of heart, it covers you like a blanket with its intensity and depth. It’s mature, sophisticated and unapologetic. The opposite of a wallflower, sensual and refined.

Annick, intrigued by the Arabian princesses who come to Rue de Castiglione asking for oud, has always been charmed by this incredible substance. And Camille and Isabelle – who are fascinated with agarwood, crafted this ecstatic fragrance: a harmony of rose, papyrus, and myrrh infuses the wearer from head to toe. Oud is present in all of its authenticity, beating like a heart at the core of this fragrance. It fuses with the rose, is rounded out by the gaiac wood, vaporises with a touch of birch, and bites with a hint of pepper.

1001 Ouds EDP 75ml is available now from Selfridges.

jimmy-choo-illicit

Jimmy Choo – Illicit

I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Choo fragrances for a long time, and I’m so pleased to have discovered Illicit, it’s easily now one of my favourite fragrances from the brand.

Illicit is feisty and fun, daring and tempting. Evoking sensuality and confidence. It’s youthful – but not young – punchy and provocative yet sweet. She is a force to be reckoned with.

This tempting golden elixir exudes a confident and alluring character. Turning heads and igniting attention, it plays on the senses, teasing and tantalising in a swirl of playful seduction. Forget standing on the side-lines, Illicit is about taking centre stage and setting pulses racing. She is dancing till dawn, the heart and soul of every party, she lives in the moment.

Illicit brings an entirely unique olfactory experience, comforting ginger flirts with feminine rose and sophisticated jasmine before drying down to reveal the perfume’s pièce de résistance – a gourmand honey-amber accord. Intertwined with a thread of sandalwood to mellow and smooth the sweetness, it envelops the wearer in a swathe of sensory pleasure.

Illicit EDP is available from 40ml at Boots.

narciso-rodriguez-l'absolu-for-her

Narciso Rodriguez – L’absolu For Her

My first experience of Narciso Rodriguez fragrances, L’absolu For Her is a beautifully feminine fragrance, sensual with a hint of softness, elegant and rich.

In creating for her l’absolu, Narciso Rodriguez was inspired by modern femininity’s profound evolution and duality. The goal was to capture a more powerful intensity without being overwhelming. “I’ve always been transfixed by women who project strength with passion and radiate grace and beauty from the inside out,” says the designer.

Absolute of jasmin, a voluptuous floral, transforms the signature heart of musc in an intoxicating olfactive composition. Soft amber notes and smooth woody notes of sandalwood and patchouli add a rich depth that envelops tenderly.

“For this new fragrance, we chose a deep aubergine color, a rich tone that is very important in our story. Again there’s this sense of duality, an air of mystery, in the bottle which echoes the fragrance. The bottle is a pure beautiful object; you have to experience it, fall in love with it—just like the fragrance. ”

L’Absolu for Her 50ml is available at Boots.

etro-marquetry

Etro – Marquetry

The epitome of a niche fragrance – some will love and some will not be so keen on this fragrance. Either way, there’s no mistaking the beauty and craftsmanship here.

Marquetry is the art of mixing minuscule pieces of ivory and hard stone, fragments of mother of pearl, ebony and rosewood, slivers of precious metals and thin layers of lacquer, which combine to create incredible and extremely elaborate designs on tabourets, treasure chests and jewellery.

Marquetry the fragrance opens with an overture of bergamot, lavender and peach, with an iridescence like freshly-dyed silks laid out to dry in the wind before a storm. At its heart is the full-bodied sensuality of the rose, the aromatic cabochon gem surrounded by nuances of tobacco and the almond of the tonka bean, the green reflected light of galbanum – a bush whose leaves are refreshed by the nocturnal rains on the high plains of Persia – and the cocoa-scented accents of the Peruvian balsam which, according to the South American shamans, are considered to be a key ingredient in ointments which bring good luck.

At its base, Marquetry celebrates the triumph of resins: a duet of amber with sweet liqueur notes of labdanum, musk sweetened with a highlight of vanilla which opens the heart and mind. Like a talisman for the soul which opens up tender horizons of happiness.

Marquetry 100ml is available now from Harrods

I’s love to hear which fragrance is top of your Christmas list? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
