Fashion: Autumn 2016 Accessories Update – Kurt Geiger / Skinnydip / ASOS

Posted on October 3, 2016

autumn-accessories-update-2016

Hi Guys!

It’s that time of year again where it’s starting to get cooler, the nights are drawing in and we’re all looking forward to Halloween! Yes Autumn is upon us, and I thought it was about time I did a little accessories update…

carvela-rink-boots

The pièce de résistance of my latest bunch of goodies is without doubt my brand new Rink boots by Carvela Comfort at Kurt Geiger. I LOVE Kurt Geiger shoes and boots, and yes I know they can be on the expensive side but they’re well worth it. I’ve pretty much been living in a pair of glittery Carvela flats until they wore out, so now winter is looming, I’ve been on the hunt for some more season-appropriate footwear.

I was so pleased when I came across the Carvela Comfort range – I hadn’t even realised it existed until I started hunting around the site. It basically offers all the fabulous styling of the Carvela brand, whilst making comfort a priority.

carvela-rink-boots-review

The gorgeous Rink Boots just jumped out at me – they’re made of soft black suede, with an awesome gunmetal grey sparkly glitter heel. I love that the heel is quite low (I can’t walk in high heels) making the boots look more dressy whilst still being comfortable.

And just look at this gorgeous scarf from Bianca Elgar! I’m a big fan of oversized scarves and wear them every autumn and winter – but silk scarves are new to me. I feel like this is more sophisticated than other scarves I have, and it feels gorgeous to wear. I can’t wait to pair this with some outfits!

nali-bag-with-stickers

I also treated myself to a new Nali Bag from ASOS. When it comes to bags, I like something spacious (to hold all my precious things) and I also like a grab handle as well as a long strap – so you have plenty of options you know! This bag by Nali stood out to me because it pretty much ticked all the boxes for me, and it was also in the sale – bonus!

I then happened to come across some awesome stickers on the Skinnydip site, and thought they’d go perfectly with my new bag! If you’re a fan of customising your clothes and accessories, you can see all Skinnydip’s awesome stickers, badges and pins here.

skinnydip-nope-bag

I also picked up this awesome Nope Hannah bag from Skinnydip while I was looking around the site. I love it so much!

pink-cat-pencil-case

And yes I know it’s technically not a fashion accessory, but I had to include my new Paperchase cat pencil case from ASOS! It’s just so cute!

And finally I also picked up this sweet little Primark Necklace when I was last in London. Its rose gold coloured with grey sparkly triangles – and it was only £3.00!

I’d love to hear how you’ve been updating your wardrobe for autumn? I  hope you enjoyed my post xxx

ASOS Accessories Sale Haul!

Posted on July 1, 2015

asos-sale-picks

Hi Guys!

Ooh I do love a good bargain, and I’m pretty much guaranteed to grab something from ASOS’s regular sales every single time. They have SO MANY things on offer, from fashion, to accessories, to gifts to stationery (I actually just picked up some gorgeous stationery bits the other day!)

I’ve been part of Access All ASOS for a while now and they’ve kindly given me a £50 voucher to shop the sale – woo hoo! £50 isn’t really that much to go shopping with these days, but when there’s a sale on I think I’ll be able to grab quite a few bargains! I originally had my sites set on beauty, accessories and possibly shoes…

asos-sale-picks-acessories

asos-sale-stationery

Ok so you can see I didn’t end up picking up and beauty items, or shoes for that matter! Shoe shopping online can be a bit problematic for me as I’m a 5.5 so shoes often end up not fitting well. I decided to stay safe and went for accessories and stationery this time instead! Oh and I did cheat a little bit… the sale actually started on Monday at 8am, but as I’m part of ASOS Premier, ASOS often email their Premier customers with sale previews, so I sorted the whole of the sale into price order with cheapest first on Sunday evening (obv so I could get the best bargains) and added everything to my save list that I liked the look of. Then when Monday morning came I was all ready to purchase 😀

Here’s what I picked up!

asos-sale-bracelet

I’m a bit of a magpie and ended up with quite a lot of jewellery, but I snapped up some fantastic bargains – the Gorjana bracelet for example was originally £95, and I got it for less than £20! I’d also highly recommend signing up to ASOS Premier, it’s only £10 for a years’ subscription and you receive free next day delivery with all orders, no matter how small, as well as free courier collection returns – saving you going to the post office, and not forgetting sale previews so you get the best picks of the sale before all the good stuff sells out!

I’m really pleased with my haul, I hope you enjoyed my post and I’d love to hear if you picked up anything in the ASOS sale? xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #9 (Plus Exciting News!)

Posted on June 7, 2015

the-weekly-top-5-no-9new

Hi Guys!

It’s been a pretty crazy week for me, I was going to save this for a separate post but there’s no time like the present hey! Basically I was made redundant, which was pretty weird as I’d been at my job for nearly seven years, but it isn’t actually a bad thing because now I can blog full time! I also freelance in blogger outreach and social media management, so hopefully I’ll be able to do more of that too. It’s pretty scary being 100% self employed (rather than self employed and employed at the same time as I was before) but I think this is the push I needed to take things to the next level with my blog. I’m looking forward to working harder and dedicating more time to writing. Exciting times!! So basically this week I’ve been chilling out and having a much needed rest, tidying the house and getting used to my new found freedom!

I’ve been making good use of my Personal Planner Blog Planner, getting posts planned and scheduled in, making notes of things I need to remember and generally getting myself up to date with things. If you’re thinking about buying a blog planner you should definitely check this site out, I love that you can completely customise your planner so it suits your needs, as well as choosing your front cover, and they also come in a variety of sizes to suit everyone.

The sun has most definitely had his hat on this week, I’ve been having a great time playing with Fred and making the most of the weather. My ASOS Fine Frame Cat Eye Sunglasses With Flash Lens (£10.00) have been on my face all week, I LOVE these sunnies! You can’t see from the picture but they have asweome coloured mirror shine lenses.

I flirt constantly with coloured eyeliner, but found myself recently in a CBA mood and not wearing any makeup at all, I’ve been basically in a complete funk, but now (maybe because I’m ‘free’?) I’ve been feeling pretty awesome and starting busting out my trusty Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in Bleu Neon (£4.99) This is the most amazing electric blue eyeliner – everyone should own one.

This week I’ve found myself wearing a rather interesting scent – Eau Des Minimes Cologne (£19.00) This unisex scent really matches the current weather, it includes fresh sparkling citrus notes of lemon, blood orange and grapefruit, as well as seven plants chosen for their beneficial properties. This fragrance gives a feeling of freshness and wellbeing, boosting your mood and energising the skin.

And lastly I had a surprise package arrive from Neve Cosmetics, their brand new Yumtint Lip Balm (£TBC) This sweet little twist up balm hydrates while intensifying the colour of the lips with a pretty and easy to wear strawberry tint. Something about the packaging and the light strawberry scent reminds me of children’s makeup, you know the lip and nail ‘tints’ for little ones? This may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love the burst of nostalgia! This will be available from June 10th.

I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to this week? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Two New Looks For Spring…

Posted on February 26, 2015

Hi Guys!

I absolutely love fashion, and I’m now trying to add more fashion type posts to my blog – the thing I’m having a problem with though is the fact that I can’t take photos of myself! I don’t have anyone around that can take photos for me, so I need to look into a remote for my camera, and get a tripod! (If anyone can recommend a remote, please let me know) In the mean time I quite like putting looks and outfits together – on my kitchen floor for the time being! 🙂 Here are a couple I’ve done with some of the awesome new things I’ve acquired lately, I’ve put together one casual look and one for evening!

casual-accessories

I bought this lovely top in the F&F sale at Christmas, it was reduced to £6 or something and I wear it all the time, it’s slightly baggy so it covers everything up and I love the gold shoulder detail, it also has an exposed zip detail at the back. Wins all round!! I’m also obsessed with necklaces, and I love this pretty triangle stone necklace which I bought from Topshop ages ago, and I happened to recently stumble across in a drawer so I haven’t actually worn yet. For a toned down casual look I’ve started to wear these gorgeous Safari Boots from Calzados Victoria – they have the softest furry lining and I definitely prefer wearing them folded down rather than laced up to the top for a more relaxed look. I’m also part of Access All ASOS, they set up a secret santa blogger gift swap at Christmas, where they gave everyone involved a £15 voucher to spend on the site to buy gifts for someone else, what a lovely idea! Except my parcel never arrived 🙁 so they kindly gave me the voucher to buy something for myself, they’re good guys at ASOS! I treated myself to these awesome Cat Eye Sunglasses, a bargain at a tenner, and the scarf in the below pic 🙂 The pink and blue scarf is also from ASOS a looong time ago.

going-out-accessories

And this is my going out look! I’m in love with these amazing Cassie Cut out Ankle Boots from Online Avenue, they literally tick all the boxes for me – gold details, cut outs and a platform, check, check and check, and they’re a complete bargain at just over £20 too! I bought the Pieces Jine Oversized Floral Scarf from ASOS as it just has such a lovely pattern. I literally live in scarves most of the year! I also included this pretty Crackle Stone & Rope Chain Necklace from New Look (sorry it’s not available any more) and if you look closely you’ll see it’s missing a stone, arrgh!! I always manage to damage or break my necklaces!

And lastly, I had to include my gorgeous new Ingrid Medium Leather Bag from Baginc, ahh I can’t get enough of it! It’s pretty much a spot on dupe for the Chanel Boy which I’ve needed in my life and desperately lusted after for a long time now, but unfortunately my budget doesn’t quite fit with the £2.6k price tag, ouch! The beautiful Ingrid bag is made of real leather and apart from the lack of branding, which I really don’t mind (it also means it’s not a copy or fake) it’s SO similar to the Chanel. I think I can live without the designer version now, I can’t wait to take my Ingrid out!

I’d love to hear what you think of my two looks? And I promise I’ll have some full outfit posts coming up soon! xxx

Forgotten Fashion Brands of the 90’s…

Posted on December 15, 2014

Hi Guys!

Whilst chatting away on Twitter the other evening, I started talking about ASOS, and that I remember when it was originally As Seen On Screen – I wonder how many of you remember those days? They used to copy celebrity looks and you could search for clothing by celebrity. This is what their site looked like in 2000!

Screen shot 2009-10-19 at 23.35.35

This took the conversation onto other brands of our youth, and I also realised that next year it’ll have been 20 years since I started high school – arrrgh! I do love a bit of nostalgia, so on the back of this I thought I’d gather together some of the best forgotten brands and products of my youth.

If you grew up in the 90’s like I did, why don’t you take a little trip with me down memory lane…

Lets start with Global Hypercolor colour changing tshirts… these were simply magical. Who needed expensive gadgets and computer consoles when you could watch your hot and sweaty areas change colour. global hypercolor tshirt

School bags looked like this…  I managed to lose the key for the lock from my Head bag and had to cut it open with scissors, oops.

head bag 90s

They also looked like this…

nike 90s school bag

Or this… I had a bright orange World Dance record bag!

technics 90s record bag

And you carried your P.E kit in one of these… (or possibly an orange Jane Norman rope handle bag?) Anything else was not acceptable.

90s river island bag

We had Pod and Kickers school shoes. Those rubber soles didn’t last long though!

pod and kickers 90s shoes

Spliffy jeans and Jackets… The baggier the jeans the better, preferably black. Must have the little spiffy figure embroidered on the bum or don’t bother.

spliffy logo

Naf Naf and The Sweater Shop we the most coveted labels of the early nineties… I never owned either!

naf naf

the sweater shop

Adidas Poppers… Say no more.

adidas poppers

Jeffrey Rogers and Bay Trading were the shops to go to on a Saturday…

bay trading

As were these…

90s fashion logos

Chipie Trainers… These were the first ‘fashion’ trainers, that I can recall not being from a sport brand. I remember it like it was yesterday, seeing the beautiful silver leather pair in my mums Freemans catalogue. Of course I wasn’t allowed them 🙁

chipie 90s trainers

Kangol accessories… Hats, shoes, scarves, bags. I had a Kangol pencil tin. You needed that kangaroo logo on your outfit somewhere.

kangol oasis hat

Massive Fila American style basketball trainers… I had white Fila trainers and a blue and black Fila coat 😀

fila 90s basketball trainers

On that note, did anyone have a pair of these?? (Fila has had a bit of a resurgence lately, check them out on ASOS)

90s fila heels

This brings me on to Spice Girls style Buffalo platform trainers…

spice girls platform boots

Back to ‘normal’ trainers now… Hi Tec’s or Nicks if you were not so well off or if your parents hated you (mine did) and Reebok Pumps or Nike Air Max if you were A GOD.

nike air max

reebok pumps

Tommy Hilfiger was everywhere… That red, white and blue logo was instantly recognisable. The only Hilfiger that the kids round my way wore came from the Sunday market though. Not quite the same thing!

tommy hilfiger 90s

Kappa tracksuits… Those two thoughtful looking silhouettes sitting back to back became the emblem of a generation – and ‘ Kappa slappers’ across the country. I love the Vicky Pollard parody!

kappa vicky pollard

Massive Helly Hansen coats that made you look five times bigger than you really were… They also cost a fortune.

helly hansen coat

Helter Skelter bomber jackets and record bags… All the cool kids were into happy hardcore in the early to mid nineties; Helter Skelter, Dreamscape and World Dance were the names to wear. Somehow this branded clothing was the height of cool… even though it all came from the Sunday market.

helter skelter bomber jacket

(I had this Dreamscape poster in my bedroom)

dreamscape poster

I’ll leave it there for now, I could go on! Other brands worth a mention though were Joe Bloggs, Pepe jeans, Stussy, and Paul Frank. Let me know if you think of any more!

We didn’t have mobile phones, or internet (except in school) and we definitely didnt have social media. God I loved the nineties. I wouldn’t change a thing!

If you liked this, you might also like my Must Have Beauty Products From The 90’s post! I hope this brought back some memories! xxx

Autumn Accessories Update!

Posted on October 20, 2014

autumn-accessories-update

Hi Guys!

I’ve been attempting to tidy up my house and my ever growing stash of ‘stuff’ when I kind of noticed I’ve had a sudden influx of new autumnal accessories! So I thought it was about time I updated my wardrobe and put my summer bits and pieces away to make room for my gorgeous new things which currently have nowhere to live. Cue box packing of strappy sandals and vest tops all weekend! Read on to hear about my lovely new things…

melissa-spiked-flats

First up are these gorgeous Melissa Virtue Studded Flock Pumps from Logonstyle. They’re flat pumps which always get my vote as they’re super comfortable. They have a faux suede ‘flocked’ finish with gold pointed studs and I love that they’re simple enough to wear with a multitude of outfits, without being plain at all. Oh and did I mention they also smell of bubblegum?? No really, Melissa shoes are all scented, how cool is that! Logonstyle have loads of awesome designer pieces, and they have a sale on too right now so make sure you check them out!

lands-end-bag

Next I have a gorgeous Black Trellis Print Canvas Bowler Bag from Landsend. This is smaller than my previous go-to every day bag, which is actually a good thing as I often found myself carrying around junk I didnt realise I had. Only the other day I decided to sort out my bag and found two cans of diet coke rolling around at the bottom – I wondered why it was so heavy! This bowler style bag is surprisingly spacious, and it’s also made of coated canvas so it’s easy to clean too.

fiorelli-purse

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to win this gorgeous Fiorelli Emilie Claret Red Matinee Purse on Twitter! YAY! Fiorelli had a giveaway on where ten winners would get their hands on this purse, and I was chosen! Amazing! I’m in love with the claret red shade, it’s so gorgeous and perfect for this season. This purse is also pretty big, which is exactly what I need as I usually keep a pen and chewing gum in my purse as well as other bits and pieces. I think this may end up replacing my old and trusty Lady Dior wallet.

asos-watch-and-bracelet

And lastly this blue leather Ashiana Statement Leather Cuff with Studs – this was originally £30 then down to £8 in one of the many ASOS sales, what a bargain! I love anything with studs and spikes, and with this being real leather, and the studs being very similar to those on my Balenciaga bag, it has a definite luxe feel. Also not forgetting my ‘Fake’ watch from ASOS too, this was only £5 so another great bargain! I’m not really a wearer of watches, but I love them as accessories and I reckon this will be sported on my wrist for the rest of the season!

So there we have it, out with the old and in with the new. I’d love to hear if you’ve treated yourself to any new accessories for Autumn?

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx
