Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend 🙂 Just before Christmas I received a rather lovely surprise package from Beauty Bay, which was filled with a selection of their skincare favourites for me to try out and share with you. They included a fantastic range of brands covering varying price points – I hope you enjoy!

colleen-rothschild-cleanser-and-coconut-oil

First up we have the Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm (£46.00) – Colleen Rothschild is a new brand to me, and this luxurious sounding cleansing balm promises to melt away daily impurities, waterproof makeup and decongests pores – which is exactly what my skin needs.

The Radiant Cleansing Balm has a lovely aromatic scent which helps to calm and decongest, whilst soothing and rejuvenating the senses. It contains Lipexel to combat dehydration, Black Seed Oil for antioxidant protection and Moringa Oil to restore luminosity to the complexion. I’ve tried this a couple of times now and I have to say I love it! The balm is wonderfully thick and rich feeling, and it does a great job of removing makeup, leaving skin feeling cleansed and soft to the touch.

And the Sister & Co Cold Pressed Raw Coconut Oil (£6.95) – now I must admit I never quite got on the Coconut Oil bandwagon when the fad first started a couple of years ago. I know you can use coconut oil for pretty much anything – a moisturiser, makeup remover, an additive to cooking, you can spread it on your toast, or even use around the house for various things (just Google it and you’ll see there are endless uses for coconut oil). I have to say I love the fact that this is a single, simple, natural product, that offers so many varying uses. It’s naturally high in Vitamin E, and also contains Lauric and Capric Acid which provide anti-ageing, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. I’ve started using this on some dry patches of skin on my arms and it really is working wonders!

body-blends-and-oandm

And while we’re talking about coconuts, I also have the Body Blendz Coconut Delight Scrub (£19.95) – it seems that body scrubs are having a bit of a moment right now, and this scrub from Body Blendz is perfect for those who suffer with cellulite, eczema, acne and dehydrated skin. I should mention that though this is named ‘Coconut Delight’ it’s actually a coffee based scrub, and smells like coffee – which really is very nice as I LOVE the smell of coffee.  This scrub promises to nourish the epidermis without leaving a greasy residue, whilst lifting away traces of impurities and diminishing the signs of ageing.

And I also have the Original Mineral 7 day Miracle Moisture Masque (£28.00) – ok so it’s not skincare, but it’s not every day I get to try out a £28 hair mask so I wanted to mention it! The O&M Day Mircale Moisture Masque is a deeply hydrating treatment mask designed for damaged and dehydrated hair. You’re advised to use this on a weekly basis to keep your locks silky smooth and feeling fabulous, and the formula contains Argan Oil to smooth away frizz and soften hair, Macadamia Oil to moisturise, and Natural Silica to give hair a glossy finish.

antipodes-nugg-skincare

Next we have the Nugg Lip Mask (£9.49) – now I’ve used this product before, so I already know it’s a winner! The Nugg Intense Lip Boosting Mask contains Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Liquorice Root Complex to nourish, moisturise and plump the lips, whilst diminishing the appearance of fine lines, creases and wrinkles. If you suffer with dry lips like I do, I highly recommend you try this!

And the Cellex-C Hydra 5 B Complex (£44.00) – this rather unassuming looking bottle has actually turned out to be one of my favourite products. The Cellex-C Hydra 5 B-Complex is an oil-free clear gel containing an extremely high percentage of hyaluronic acid, as well as Vitamin B-5 to instantly give your skin a silky smooth texture, and therefore providing a perfect base for make-up. This gel promised to give you noticeably smoother, more radiant looking skin within 3-6 weeks. I’ve been using this for around a month now and my skin is absolutely loving it, and I actually think I can physically see the difference it’s made. This is definitely a winner in my books.

The award winning Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream (£29.75) is a natural anti-ageing treatment which promises to resurrect the skin whilst you sleep. This Nourishing Night Cream stimulates collagen production by up to 92%, and replenishes the skin with essential Fatty Acids and naturally high contents of Vitamins A & C. It also contains active Manuka Honey to soothe the skin, and Vinanza Grape helps to neutralise free radical damage whilst improving elasticity and firmness and preventing moisture loss.

And the Colleen Rothschild Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum (sample) – back to Colleen Rothschild, this complexion perfecting serum works to rid the skin’s surface of imperfections. It delivers an intense hit of naturally enhanced hydration which absorbs quickly into the epidermis releasing an array of skin perfecting benefits such as reduced fine lines, diminished dark spots and anti-inflamed acne.

charcoal-face-wipes

And lastly the Yes to Tomatos Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes (£5.00) – now I know this isn’t going to go down well, but I am a fan of face wipes… I just love how handy they are. But I have to say, black charcoal wipes are a new one to me! These Detoxifying Charcoal Wipes are exclusive to Beauty Bay and promise to help rid the complexion of impurities as well as stubborn makeup and dirt, leaving you looking and feeling completely refreshed. The charcoal helps to remove impurities, and tomatoes offer antioxidant properties – and they really do work well, leaving skin feeling cleansed and fresh.

beauty-bay-products

Hi Guys!

As a complete beauty fanatic – with a special place in my heart for makeup in particular, there’s nothing like discovering and trying out new beauty brands – whether they’re actually new on the market, or just new to me.

So I was very excited indeed, when Beauty Bay sent over an amazing box including some of their top selling products for me to try out and share with you – I couldn’t wait to get stuck in!

spectrum-a01-large-domed-powder-brush-review

Starting with the Spectrum A01 Large Domed Powder Brush (£9.00) – Spectrum really do make the prettiest, most colourful brushes – and they’ve been on my wish list for a while so I was really pleased to find one in my box. The Large Domed Powder Brush is a generously sized brush, perfect for buffing powder-based products into the skin. It has a fun baby pink handle and purple and blue bristles – this is definitely a brush that stands out from the crowd! I’ve been using it with the Artdeco Fixing Powder (coming up next) and it does a fab job of applying the powder and buffing it in to the skin.

The Artdeco Fixing Powder Box (£11.75) – is basically a translucent setting powder. It was originally designed to set and waterproof the Artdeco Camouflage Cream but it’s also great as an all round setting powder for any skin type. The powder is super finely milled, and though it looks white, it applies translucent whilst giving makeup a waterproof finish to ‘lock in’ your look.

I was also pleased to find a couple of pen style eyeliners in the box – the Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner (£15.00) was the first I tried – it has a firm, long pointed nib, that’s great for creating sharp, thick lines, and it gives highly pigmented colour that boasts longevity and refuses to smudge. And the LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Waterproof Slim Eyeliner Pen (£11.25) is basically the opposite of the EOH liner – this one has a small, fine, flexible tip, that’s perfect for creating slim, feline flicks with precision. It’s also waterproof, budge proof and lasts all day.

nailberry-nail-polish-review

There were also a couple of Nailberry L’Oxygene Oxygenated Nail Lacquers (£14.50) in the box – these polishes are ‘free from five’, vegan friendly and cruelty free, and come in generous sized 15ml bottles. Shade Elegance (shown above) is a sheer baby pink shade, perfect for a tint of colour and to give the nails shine. And I also have shade Simplicity which I love! This is a light nude beige – perfect for fairer skin tones like mine, and only takes a couple of coats for full opacity.

ga-de-basica-matte-eyeshadow-palette

Next I have the Ga-De Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette (£19.00) – now this is a brand that I haven’t tried or let alone even heard of before! The GA-DE Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition product containing a collection of sophisticated matte eye shadows – and I have to say I absolutely love it!

This palette contains a selection of eight neutral matte shades, which are all easy to wear and perfect for daily use. The compact is basic but sturdy and has a mirror in the lid, and the shadows are just so amazingly soft and fantastically well pigmented – this is going straight in my makeup bag and will definitely give my Urban Decay Naked Basics a run for its money!

ga-de-true-color-satin-lipstick-review

I also have the Ga-De True Color Satin Lipstick (£11.00) – another lovely product from Ga-De, this True Color Satin Lipstick in shade 232 Plum Noir is a lovely deep plum colour that’s perfect for autumn. The formula feels creamy and moisturising, and leaves a highly pigmented satin finish that is long wearing and feels lightweight and non-drying on the lips.

Next I have the Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara (£16.50) – which is said to be perfect for fine, brittle lashes (this is basically my eyelashes) – so I had high hopes for this product!

The Goddess Mascara has been formulated with Natural Waxes and Oils, Antioxidants, Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamins to protect and nourish lashes whilst lengthening and volumising. It has a silicon brush with short, dense bristles that work really well on my short lashes. The finish isn’t  an out there ‘false lashes’ look as such, but it nice, non-clumpy and natural enough for every day wear.

stila-stay-all-day-matteificent-lipstick-review

I was also really excited to try the Stila Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick (£15.00) – again, Stila is another brand that I haven’t used for a very long time – I think their Eyes are the Windows palette was the last item I used actually. The Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick is a lightweight, long wearing matte finish lipstick, utilising a Flexible Film Long-Wear Complex which delivers a soft, gel like film that hydrates and protects the lips whilst ensuring maximum adhesion of colour.

Shade Coquille is beautiful muted, dusky pink, which I completely love. The formula feels comfortable and creamy to wear, and even though the finish is matte, it’s not drying on the lips, and lasts for hours on end.

la-splash-lipstick-review

And lastly the LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Lipstick (£9.95) – I LOVE LA Splash Matte Lipsticks, and this one in shade Ghoulish is the perfect partner for my Stila lipstick – the shades are almost identical!

If you’re looking for a matte liquid lipstick that literally lasts all day, then look no further. LA Splash’s Lip Couture lipsticks offer amazing pigmentation, with a super lightweight formula that feels velvety matte and smooth once it’s dried – and it won’t budge at all throughout the day.

So there we have it! You can probably guess that my favourite item from the box was the Ga-De Matte Palette! Though it’s not much to look at – and I mean that in the nicest way possible – there are no frills, no shiny sparkly designs or packaging with this palette – but it doesn’t matter, this is a fantastic every day matte palette that’s very likely to become my go-to from now on.

And as far as Beauty Bay goes as a whole, I love that offer such a fantastic range of brands – many of which you can’t find anywhere else in the UK. I don’t expect I’d have ever come across the likes of Ga-De especially if it wasn’t for this box. They also stock brands such as Makeup Geek, Coloured Raine, Jeffree Star, Violet Voss and Dose of Colours to name but a few.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

A Mini Haul From Beauty Bay…

Posted on January 12, 2016

beauty-bay-makeup-haul

Hi Guys!

I’d never shopped with Beauty Bay before, so when they asked me to pick a few things I liked from their site, I jumped at the chance! What better way to discover brands I hadn’t tried before? Beauty Bay stock a massive range and brands and products, so it was really hard to narrow down my list, but in the end I went for a Missha BB cream, a Gerard lipstick and a Laura Gellar highlighter. All are brands I haven’t used before, so I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and try them!

gerard-lipstick-underground-review

gerard-lipstick-underground-swatch

The Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in shade Underground (£11.50) isn’t the easiest colour to wear, I’ll happily admit that. I’m just instantly attracted to those autumnal browny 90’s shades we’re seeing everywhere at the moment. Underground is also verging on what you might call greige, but not quite. The shade in the bullet looks quite dark and intense, but it actually comes out a bit lighter than you’d expect which is slightly more forgiving on the complexion. Underground is a medium to full coverage lipstick, that’s creamy and comfortable to wear. I’d say its slightly drying, but this is nothing a good dose of lips balm won’t sort out. It’s also good to know that Gerard Cosmetics are a cruelty free brand too.

missha-bb-cream-review

MISSHA-M-Perfect-Cover-BB-Cream-SPF-42-21-Light-Beige

MISSHA is one of those brands I’d heard of, but wasn’t really sure about their products. My initial thought is they were Eastern – maybe Korean, and I was right. I’d definitely come across them before when browsing Korean beauty sites.

The M Perfect Cover BB Cream (£17.50) appealed to me because I’m a big fan of BB creams. As much as I love foundations, BB’s just seems to look a bit more natural, and I love that you can quickly apply and rub them in with fingers when I’m in a rush in the morning.

I went for shade 21 Light Beige – which was a bit of a guess, as it is anywhere you purchase base colour products online without seeing them in the flesh. This shade is actually the opposite of what I expected. With many BB creams I’ve tried leaning towards the side of being quite intense (orangey) in colour, this is a very subdued, almost grey tinged shade.

It’s a lovely BB cream though, even though it’s not quite the right shade for me, it gives a gorgeous almost full coverage, dewy complexion, while feeling lightweight on the skin. It also includes SPF 42, and the formula is infused with Camomile Extract and Rosemary Extract to soothe and rejuvenate the skin whilst offering anti-inflammatory benefits and shielding against UV damage and environmental aggressors.

I think I might try mixing it with my Dior Hydralife BB, which is my absolute favourite, but the lightest shade 01 is slightly too ‘colourful’ for my pale skin. I think these two combined could be just perfect for me!

Laura-Geller-Baked-Gelato-Swirl-Illuminator-Ballerina-review

Laura-Geller-Baked-Gelato-Swirl-Illuminator-Ballerina

And lastly the stunning Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Ballerina (£21.00).

Laura Geller is one of those brands I’ve heard about, but again I just hadn’t picked anything up from them. This highlighter though was just so pretty, I couldn’t resist. Ballerina is a lovely warm champagne colour with a hint of peach, and it’s as gorgeous to use as it is to look at.

The Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator has a fabulous texture that’s kind of creamy, but applies to the face like a fine powder. Its gives the most gorgeous glowy highlight, that’s not shimmery or sparkly in any way. I think I may have just found my holy grail highlighter! 🙂

I also wanted to mention that Beauty Bay have just launched their brand new Makeup Map! Beauty Bay actually undertook an in-depth analysis of over half a million sales transactions across the UK, with the aim of highlighting women’s beauty trends up and down the country. Take a look at the map to see the results!
