The New Beauty Subscription Box – Little Known Box

Posted on June 6, 2016

little-known-box-beauty-box

Hi Guys!

Have you heard, there’s a brand new beauty box on the scene! Little Known Box is bringing something slightly different to the table though – they specifically offer lesser known, niche and emerging beauty brands in their boxes.

In a world where beauty boxes seem to be offering many of the same brands time and time again (I’m not going to name names but if you subscribe to any beauty boxes you’ll probably know what I’m talking about!) it’s great to see a beauty box offering something new and different to beauty lovers.

Little Known Box will also offer products from niche beauty fields such as natural/organic, vegan friendly, cruelty free and free-from brands, which is great to hear.

When you sign up for a Little-Known Box subscription, every month you will receive a box of carefully selected luxurious beauty products and gifts. We are passionate about featuring ‘little-known’ products, from independent, niche, upcoming and emerging brands. Chosen with ethics and wellness in mind.

You can expect to see a massive range of beauty products in these boxes too, including skincare, makeup, hair, body and grooming products, nail care, nail art, lifestyle and beauty accessories (with the occasional surprise thrown in). You may also see some well known brands, but we’ve been promised the products will always be either little-known or brand new launches.

The first ever Little Known Box contains the following products –

  • Flint + Flint Moisturiser 3x, full size 50ml, worth £42.00.
  • The Vintage Cosmetics Company Rose Gold Eyelash Curlers, full size, worth £7.00.
  • Medusa’s Makeup Lip Gloss in Bite Me, full size, worth £6.25.
  • Dirtea Tea Scrub, single bag worth £2.15.
  • Thumbs up Designer Nail Wraps, 1 set, worth £7.99.

Total value of box = £65.39.

On first glance this is a nice collection of products – I must admit though, if it wasn’t for the Flint + Flint Moisturiser, this box would be of fairly low value. There are some nice products in there though and it’s great to see brands such as Medusa’s Makeup and Thumbs Up that are most definitely ‘lesser known’ in the beauty world.

Each month LKB promises to include 5-6 beauty products in their boxes. Their monthly subscription is £14.95 per month including shipping if you pay per month, and there are also options for 3 month, 6 month and 12 month single payment subscriptions where you save money the longer the term. In addition to their monthly subscriptions, they will also be offering one-off boxes and gift subscriptions too.

I think this is a great first box, though I must admit I’m not overly wowed by it, I’m definitely excited to see which brands and products will be included in the coming months. I think this is definitely one to watch.

The first Little Known Box is available now at Little Known Box – I’d love to hear what you think of this?

Glossybox August | Review

Posted on August 18, 2015

glossybox-august-review

Hi Guys!

It’s time again for another Glossybox! And this month’s box contains five full sized items, which is pretty unexpected!

  • MeMeMe Lipglide in Playful Peach. Full size worth £6.95.
  • Manna Kadar Lash Primer. Full size worth £14.55.
  • Emite Artist Colour Powder Blush. Full size worth £20.59.
  • Naobay Calming Face Toner. Full size 200ml worth £10.65.
  • Sass Intimate Purifying Cleanser. Full size 100ml worth £7.00.

Total value of box = £59.74.

Well I definitely think this is one of the most impressive looking boxes in a while from Glossybox. It’s very rare to find five full sized items enclosed!

I have a few MeMeMe products now and they’re usually quite good, the Lipglide in Playful Peach is basically a lip pencil with a balmy texture that gives a matte finish to the lips. Playful Peach is a pretty, summery coral peach shade that’s quite forgiving so it should suit most skin tones.

Manna Kadar is a brand I’ve never heard of before, their Lash Primer is supposed to be applied before mascara to prime and plump as well as nourish the lashes. It’s basically a base coat for lashes to improve the way your mascara looks when applied on top. I haven’t noticed any difference with my own lashes, but I know others’ swear by a lash primer, so this could work wonders for you.

Emite Artist Colour Powder Blush in 108. I must admit, before reading the product details I thought this was a bronzer! The shade is pretty intense terracotta, which unfortunately doesn’t really suit my colouring. If you have a darker, warmer skin tone though, this could be perfect for you. The formula has a lovely soft texture that’s easy to apply, and I’ve just stated using this sparingly as a bronzer and it’s working really well!

Naobay calming Face Toner. This is the second Naobay product I’ve received in a Glossybox over the last few months. This refreshing citrus-scented lotion provides 4-in-1 skincare action to effectively remove traces of makeup and impurities from the skin. It also cleanses, tones and soothes the skin thanks to Chamomile and Gotu Kola extracts.

And lastly, the Sass Intimate Purifying Cleanser. At first I thought this was a face cleanser, but noooo, it’s an intimate cleanser, or shower gel. This product has been specially created to help you feel fresh throughout the day, with a gentle formula containing special Ecodermine technology that acts as a probiotic to maintain intimate harmony, soothe skin and help you be at your best.

Overall this is a great little bundle of beauty and skincare goodies – and I love that they’re all full sized too. I think I’ll get the most use out of the Naobay toner though!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Cohorted August Beauty Box | Review

cohorted-august-box-review

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend so far? We’ve been having lots of family fun this week, and I’m extra happy because the latest box from Cohorted has just landed on my doorstep, yay! This month’s box contains a lovely selection of products, including skincare, makeup and beauty accessories…

  • Bare Minerals BareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper, worth £15.00
  • Laura Geller Baked Impressions Duo Eyeshadow in Fine Wines, worth £15.00
  • Bare Minerals Soft Focus Face Brush, worth £20.00
  • Cargo Eye Colour Quad Palette in Bermuda, worth £10.00
  • Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Body Cream (30ml), worth £4.00

Total value = £64.00

cohorted-august-beauty-box-review

Ok so the first product to jump out at me is definitely the Cargo Palette. The Eye Colour Quad in Bermuda is a really good size, with four large square pans and a full size mirror. The shadows all have a shimmer finish, and come in a range of warm neutral shades including a light olive green with gold sparkly flecks, a mid brown with the slightest hint of sparkle, a lighter shimmery brown, and a pretty pinkish brown with gold sparkly flecks. Cargo eyeshadows are always really good quality, and this palette is no exception, I’ll definitely be getting some use out of these shades!

Next is the Laura Geller Baked Impressions Eyeshadow Duo in Fine Wines – I’ve been wanting to try Laura Geller products for a while now so I was excited to find this in the box! The lid of this eyeshadow has a tiny half mirror on the inside, personally I’d rather get rid of the clear section on the lid and have a full size mirror that’s easier to use. The shadows though are gorgeous, both shades have a matte finish, and there’s a muted light pink shade, and a dark greyish purple included, with a pretty embossed pattern on top. Both shadows are super soft and finely milled, I love the purple shade especially 🙂

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that Bare Minerals products are a popular choice with the Cohorted crew. There was a Heavenly Face Brush in the April box, and a Pure Transformation Night Treatment in the March box. So if you’re a fan of Bare Minerals, you’re in for a treat with August’s box, as there are two products included this month, including a Skin Rev-ver Upper skin primer and a Soft Focus Face Brush. Bare Minerals brushes really are fantastic quality, and the Soft Focus Face Brush is just lovely to use. The bristles are soft and flexible, and this brush is perfect for applying Bare Minerals’ Mineral Veil and All Over Face Colours. The Skin Rev-ver Upper is a primer designed to rejuvenate your complexion like a daily multivitamin supplement, with the added benefits of glycolic and salicylic acids to prepare skin for flawless makeup application.

And lastly the Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Body Cream. I LOVE Molton Brown products, I have a few of their shower gels that I like to throw in the bath like there’s no tomorrow, but I haven’t tried any of their moisturisers before. The Yuan Zhi scent is a beautiful, relaxing fragrance with ylang-ylang, rose and vanilla, to soothe the senses. I’ll be trying this out after my bath tonight!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

The Libbie Club July Beauty Box Review

Posted on July 13, 2015

the-libbie-club-july-box-review

Hi Guys!

Yep it’s already time again for another Libbie Box! If you missed the first two, you can check out my previous posts for May and June to find out what they’re all about. (Also, my beloved marble tray has now gone, what do you think of me new blogging accessories? Let me know if you like!)

Ok so July’s Libbie box contains three lovely beauty products, including a cleansing balm, exfoliator and cheek tint. Let’s take a closer look…

Skin & Tonic Steam Clean Cleansing Balm (15g) This is a brand I haven’t heard of before – the Steam Clean Cleansing Balm is described as a nourishing balm made with organic ingredients including British Thistle, aromatic Eucalyptus and refreshing Spearmint oils to lift dirt and rejuvenate dull and tired skin. You’re advised to apply a small amount into your palms and gently massage onto your face. Then soak the cotton face cloth provided in warm water and hold against your face for a minute to steam and activate the essential oils.

Bioeffect Volcanic Exfoliator (60ml) This clarifying facial exfoliator contains Icelandic micro-crystalline lava, which deep-cleanses and smoothes the skin, leaving it soft and refreshed. The exfoliating particles are of suitable size to gently remove dry and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.

BECCA Beach Tint – Watermelon (7ml) Ahh my first Becca product! BECCA’s Beach Tint is in fact an award-winning editors’ favourite and BECCA bestseller! This cream tint offers a sheer light matte finish for lips and cheeks, which can be blended with fingertips or a brush.

As usual The Libbie Club have some fantastic offers available on these products right now, check out my page to read my reviews and take advantage of these fab deals!

N.B. – Each of these offers run for a limited time and has limited stock, so be sure to snap them up if you’re interested!

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? xxx

Glossybox June | Review

Posted on June 8, 2015

glossybox-june-review

Hi Guys!

This month’s Glossybox has a very apt Festival Edit theme, and it includes a mixture of products to help you look and feel your best in time for the summer’s festivals! This is what’s in the box –

  • Monu Spa Rosewood Reviving Mist. 50ml sample size worth £5.97
  • Kueshi Anti Cellulite Booster. 150ml worth £14.55
  • Halo Fragrance Free Facial Wipes. Pack of 10 worth £1.09
  • Essence Gel Nail Polish. Full size worth £1.71
  • Glossybox Flash Temporary Tattoos. Worth £6.50

Total value of box = £29.82

glossybox-june

Ok so on first glance, this is probably not the most exciting box Glossybox has come up with, but it does contain a good varied range of products to try out. So first up I’ll start with the Essence Nail polish in 31 Electriiiiiic, I’m a big fan of blue nail shades so this definitely caught my eye. Essence is one of those brands I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had a chance as they’re not stocked near me – I’m pretty sure their products are available in Wilko? Anyway, this polish is a gorgeous shade, and comes with a wide brush which is great to see, so application is easy, and it took me three coats to get full opacity. For under £2 this is a great little polish!

Jumping to a product at the other end of the spectrum that doesn’t really appeal to me – the Kueshi Anticellulite Booster is supposed to combat existing cellulite whilst preventing the formulation of new cellulite using flavenoids to inhibit the formation of fat cells, ruscogenin to facilitate blood flow, and naringin and rutin to reduce swelling. It has a light, pleasant fragrance, and the texture is similar to a light moisturiser. I personally don’t believe anti-cellulite creams work. I’ll give this a go though and will definitely report back if it does!

Next up is the Monu Spa Rosewood Reviving Mist, this has been created using a blend of zesty essential oils from Lemon and Rosewood to Sandalwood, Petitgrain, Geranium and Clary Sage, to leave skin feeling cool and refreshed whilst providing an irresistible fragrance to tantalise the senses. You can use this spray to instantly refresh tired skin as well as to set your makeup. I don’t often use facial sprays but this has a really nice fresh scent – I think I might also keep it in the fridge for extra refreshment!

The Halo Fragrance Free Facial Wipes come in a handy mini pack of ten, which is perfect for your handbag. They are obviously fragrance free, and also suitable for sensitive skin. I was impressed that they removed all my makeup with minimal rubbing – including eyeliner and mascara. These would definitely be a must have if you’re heading off to a festival this summer.

And lastly Glossybox’s own brand of flash temporary tattoos. I’ve actually been wanting to get my hands on some of these gold and silver tattoos, I’ve seen them in many an Instagram snap sported by bronzed Goddesses and I think they look great! There are eight strips of tattoos here which you can cut up and place on your body as required – one row of them being the Glossybox crown logo in gold, if you fancy wearing that on your body! These tatts are really easy to use, you just press on your skin, cover the back with water and peel the backing off. They’re not going to be everybody’s cup of tea but I think they’re pretty cool!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

My Little Box – Provence Edition

Posted on May 18, 2015

my little provence box

Hi Guys!

I’ve seen My Little Box feature in plenty of blog reviews lately and I’ve always thought what a fantastic subscription box it is. If you haven’t heard of it, My Little Box is basically France’s offering into the world of beauty boxes, with the added touch of lifestyle too. As well as beauty products, My Little Box also includes fashion and lifestyle accessories plus some extra illustrated goodies. Each monthly box has a theme too, and this month’s theme is Provence. I’m also really excited as My Little Box has teamed up with with L’Occitane on this box too – what a perfect collaboration!

my-little-provence-box-review

So this month’s box is jam packed full of interesting things, including an illustrated card, a mini magazine, fridge magnets, a DIY bracelet and a bag full of mini L’Occitane products!

my-little-provence-box-magazine

The magazine opens up to reveal an article on fab beauty blogger Really Ree, and more information on the L’Occitane brand and it’s products. There’s also a large L’Occitane poster on the back of the mag.

my-little-provence-box-contents my-little-provence-box-bracelet-review

My Little Box usually contains at least one jewellery item, and I love the idea of this bracelet! It’s a really heavy, quality feeling gold tone cuff bracelet, with punched holes across the centre. You’re also provided with two shades of blue thread so you can make your own DIY bracelet! There’s a handy article in the magazine showing you how to stitch the cuff.

my-little-provence-box-cuff

my-little-provence-box-l'occitane

And lastly the best bit – the beauty products! There are four mini L’Occitane products included in the bag, and one makeup item by My Little Beauty which is My Little Boxs’ own beauty brand.

This is what’s included –

  • Mer & Mistral Shower Gel (50ml) – This is a lovely fresh and aquatic unisex scented shower gel. I think my other half would love this!
  • Roses et Reines Hand and Nail Cream (10ml) – Enriched with shea butter and vitamin E, this light cream helps nourish, soften and protect the hands while helping to strengthen the nails. It has a lovely delicate scent with the velvety, floral fragrance of Roses et Reines.
  • The Amazing Pencil – This is a fantastic little brown shimmer eye pencil. It’s chunky enough to be used all over the lid as a shadow, but can also be used as an eyeliner too. It has a smooth creamy formula that doesn’t tug at the skin at all, and I must admit it’s surprisingly good!
  • Verbena Leaf Soap (25g) – Crushed verbena leaves gently exfoliate as you wash or shower. This rich and creamy bar won’t dry your skin out, and has a light citrus scent.
  • Verena Body Lotion (30ml) – Enriched with organic Verbena extract and grape seed oil, this body light lotion gently moisturises, nourishes and softens the skin, leaving it delicately fragranced with a uplifting zesty aroma.

My Little Box is £11.00 per month plus £3.95 shipping – as this is shipped from France, £3.95 isn’t actually that bad at all!

Have you tried My Little Box before? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Glossybox | The Iconic Hollywood Edition‏

Posted on April 22, 2015

glossybox-iconic-april-box

Hi Guys!

I just love a limited edition – a limited edition anything. It’s just a bit special and a bit of a treat. I also love when beauty box companies bring out their themed or limited boxes, and Glossybox have done just that. For April Glossybox has returned to Hollywood’s golden age of glamour. Taking inspiration from the great and the glorious, Glossybox presents the Collector’s Edition Iconic Hollywood box.

GLOSSYBOX has captured the allure of Audrey, the marvel that is Marilyn and the wonder of Grace Kelly to curate the Iconic Hollywood Box. The classic red lipstick, the essential black eyeliner and a warm nude nail polish take over this month‘s box. GLOSSYBOX have hand- picked the best in beauty, promising products from brands including Darphin, Lord & Berry and Color Club, to help you capture the look of your favourite Hollywood heroes.

So what’s in the box?

  • Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil in Kiss – Full size worth £10.00
  • POP Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen – Full size worth £6.50
  • Darphin Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream 5ml – 50ml is £65 so 5ml is £6.50
  • Color Club Barely There Nail Polish – Full size worth £4.10
  • Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls – 35ml worth £6.00

Total value of box = £33.10

lord-and-berry-lip-pencil-review

The Lord & Berry Lip Pencil instantly grabs my attention – this is easily the star product in the box. It’s a bright orange toned red shade that definitely isn’t for the faint hearted. This pencil gives a matte finish that doesn’t budge, smudge or move from the lips – I think this shade is perfect for a statement lip this summer.

pop-kajal-pen-review

The Pop Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen, isn’t actually a pen – I just wanted to point that out! It’s a double ended eyeliner with a Kajal pencil at one end to create a killer feline flick, and a smudger at the other if you want to smudge your eyeliner out for a smokey look. It gives a great line that’s well pigmented and didn’t seem to budge after wearing it for a day.

color-club-nail-lacquer-review

The Color Club Nail Lacquer in Barely There is the perfect nude shade for fairer complexions – but – I have to say I was actually quite disappointed with this polish. It was just so sheer. On first application it might as well have been a clear polish, and I was still nowhere near full opacity after three applications. I guess it just depends what you’re looking for in a nail polish. I personally like a full and intense colour. If you prefer a very sheer colour that just gives shine, then this is for you.

nougat-london-bath-beads

Next the Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls in Cherry Blossom – they smell just beautiful. You’re directed to sprinkle a handful into your bath and leave to dissolve to release their soothing scent. It’s a pretty small bag (35g) so I think you could get 2-3 baths out of it. I think this is a great introduction to Nougat London products though.

darphin-exquisage-cream-review

And lastly the Darphin Exquisage Beauty Revealing Cream. This comes in a dinky little 5ml pot – which is perfect for trying the cream out as it’s a massive £65 for the 50ml full size jar. This cream uses the CelluVie™ Complex” and skin strengthening Probiotics to rapidly replenish skin with comforting moisture and protection. It aims to visibly improve skins elasticity, soften lines and wrinkles and improve radiance.

The April Collector’s Edition Iconic Hollywood GLOSSYBOX is £10 (+P&P) and will be available throughout April 2015 from www.glossybox.co.uk while stock lasts.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
