Beauty: The Universal Makeup Beauty Box #POWEREDBYFEELUNIQUE

Posted on October 5, 2017

Hi Guys!

I must admit a while ago I thought beauty boxes had had their day. There seemed to be lots of products being regurgitated time and time again, and I think BB fans were getting a bit bored. Well how wrong was I! (Though I still think that was true in terms of repeated products) – but beauty boxes are now more popular than ever, and I can’t keep up with how many new ones have popped up, even over the last 6 months.

One of the newer offerings is from FeelUnique, who have just launched a trio of carefully curated Beauty Boxes and On-the-Go Kits. These special edits have been hand selected in-house by their beauty experts, and given their Powered by Feelunique stamp of approval…

Feelunique Best of Beauty boxes are designed to take the hard work out of finding game-changing beauty at amazing vale. Each edit contains expert selected beauty products all packaged up into one beauty box. Kicking off with Universal Makeup, Powered by Feelunique will launch more exciting boxes over the coming months.

I’ve checked the FeelUnique site and at the moment there are three different beauty box options available –

The Universal Makeup Beauty Box, which is what I have, includes a specially selected range of makeup products from some of FeelUnique’s favourite brands. The Skin Glow Edit Box, which includes everything you need for radiant, glowing skin. Each box contains deluxe or full size products, plus leaflet with tips & advice on how best to use them, as well as a Discount Code to get 10% off these products on your next purchase. And the Nichola Joss Beauty Box – Nichola Joss is a celebrity facialist as well as Feelunique’s very own Skincare Ambassador. Her box contains a curated selection of skincare essentials, including everything you need for a healthy and glowing complexion.

The Universal Makeup Beauty Box contains a fantastic selection of makeup, from both well known brands as well as a couple of lesser-known ones too (which I think is great as I love discovering new brands in beauty boxes) Included are four full size products and two travel sizes –

I was particularly happy to find the Nude By Nature Translucent Finishing Powder in the box, this is a really underrated brand that should definitely get more love! The Laura Geller Spackle Primer is a classic product that every beauty love should own, and Pro Hygiene Collection is a brand that I hadn’t heard of, so I’m looking forward to trying out their Makeup Spray.

I make out the box to roughly be worth £72.91, so with it costing only £28.00 and including four full sized products, I think this a really good deal.

The FeelUnique Universal Makeup Beauty Box is £28.00 and available at FeelUnique now.

Latest In Beauty Launches Beauty & The Beast Box #BeautyAndTheBeast

Posted on March 15, 2017

Hi Guys!

It seems like beauty box companies have started to look to more interesting and innovative ways to promote their boxes of late – which I’m really pleased to see. And most recently the Beauty & The Beast Box from Latest in Beauty has definitely got everyone talking.

Their collaboration with the upcoming Beauty and The Beast movie actually includes two different boxes, one ‘Beauty’ box for her, and one ‘Beast’ box for him. I have the Beauty box which has been beautifully designed to look like a Beauty & The Beast Book. Let’s see what’s inside the box –

  • Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage Exfoliator (75ml, worth £19.99)
  • L’Occitane Roses Et Reines Hand & Nail Cream (10ml, worth £2.66)
  • Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo (43ml, worth about £4.00)
  • Soigne Betteraves Rouges Nail Polish (full size, worth £11.00)
  • Burt’s Bees Lipstick (full size, worth £9.99)
  • Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet (10ml worth £5.75)
  • Latest in Beauty Gold Compact Mirror

Total value of box = £53.39 (Though Latest In Beauty say it’s worth over £80 on their site)

On first glance, this looks like a really good selection of products – and there appears to be more included than you get in a standard beauty box too which is great. The packaging is also on point with the box opening on one side like a book, and Latest in Beauty have also added faux rose petals inside the packaging. These are really nice touches that definitely make the box feel special.

Starting with the products that caught my attention – it’s great to find the Burt’s Bees Lipstick in the box, as this is literally a brand new product, and many of you will know that beauty subscription boxes have quite a reputation for including less than new products, so this was a welcome surprise. The colour is also really nice, I have shade 501 Blush Basin which is a pretty nude pink which will suit most skin tones.

The other product which I’m looking forward to trying is the Soigne Nail Poilish. I’ve tried a few nail polishes from them in the past and remember being very impressed. Betteraves Rouges is a show stopping true intense red shade that looks gorgeous.

The Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet and L’Occitane Roses Et Reines Hand & Nail Cream minis are also nice additions. I love both of these brands and have used both products before, so I know these products will definitely get used.

I’m slightly less excited by the Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo – though again this is something I will use, it’s just not the most exciting product, you know? And the same goes for the Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage Exfoliator. I’ve actually heard good things about this product though, so I’m interested to see if it works on my sensitive skin. Please do let me know if you’ve tried this!

Overall I think this is a really good box, and definitely worth £20.00. But – it doesn’t really have much to do with Beauty and The Beast, apart from the LIB mirror with the rose logo on, and the outer packaging which would make a nice keepsake box. The actual products could have been in any box really. However, I do think it’s a really fun collaboration, and I’m looking forward to finding out what Latest in Beauty will come up with next.

The Beauty and The Beat box is available now for £20.00 at Latest in Beauty.

Lifestyle: Moi-Meme October Hygge Box Review

Posted on November 6, 2016

moi-meme-october-hygge-box-review

Hi Guys!

If you haven’t heard of Moi-Meme, this is a brand new quarterly lifestyle box which launched earlier this year, and I think this is only their second box. I love that each box has a theme – and I have to admit I did google ‘hygge’ to find the exact meaning as well as how to pronounce it. I knew it was Danish, and it was some sort of new lifestyle trend, but wasn’t sure of the exact meaning…

So for those as in the dark as I was, Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) roughly translates to ‘cosiness’ but it actually means much more than that. Hygge is a whole lifestyle concept, where you take simple every day tasks and make them more meaningful –

Hygge; noun – a fundamental quality of Danish culture, Hygge cannot be translated using a single word. Rather, it includes many of the pleasures associated with everyday living – relaxing with friends, enjoying good food, and creating a cosy evening by lighting a candle or two.

The Mio-Meme Hygge box contains a fab selection of products aiming to help you feel warm and cozy this winter, as well as a couple of skincare and jewellery treats too –

  • Cosy Sleep Socks (£18.00)
  • Lavender Bag (£5.00)
  • Nuori Vital Foaming Cleanser 100ml (worth £25.00)
  • Nuori Vital Eye Cream 5ml (worth £16.66)
  • Edblad Monaco Bracelet (worth £26.00)
  • The Bath Candle Company Somerset Apple & Cinnamon Candle (worth £25.00)

Total value of box = £115.66. Considering the box is £49.95 per quarter, you’re definitely getting good value for money.

the-bath-candle-company-somerset-apple-cinnamon-candle

My favourite product in this box has to be The Bath Candle Company Candle – apart from looking super chic it also smells amazing! The scent is Somerset Apple & Cinnamon and it really smells to die for. I’ve just taken a look at their site and their other scents sound wonderful too. I think I’ll be popping their Orange & Chilli candle on my Christmas list!

cosy-sleep-socks

Next are the Cosy Sleep Socks from Love Yawn. These socks are wonderfully soft and include a small amount of cashmere in the material, to give an element of luxury and comfort. Now the weather has gotten colder I’ve been wearing them in bed, and my toes have been super toasty and warm.

edblad-monaco-bracelet

I was really surprised to find a gorgeous bracelet in the box – this gorgeous Monaco Bracelet from Edblad of Stockholm is just so delicate and pretty – and even if it’s not your style, it would make a fabulous Christmas gift.

nuori-vital-foaming-cleanser

There’s also a couple of skincare products in the box from Nuori. I haven’t heard of this brand before so looked them up and found out that they are in fact Danish, which of course goes nicely with the Hygge theme. What makes them different to every other skincare brand is they make small batches of products every 12 weeks – therefore each product is fresh and includes less additives and preservatives thank your average skincare. You can read more about them here.

Their Vital Foaming Cleanser is a luxuriously creamy cleanser that removed makeup and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils, and the Vital Eye Cream sample is a lightweight eye cream that promises to hydrate the eye area whilst reducing the signs of ageing.

nuori-vital-eye-cream-and-lavender-bag

And lastly the Rainy Days Lavender Bag from Love Yawn. This super cute fabric bag is filled with fragrant lavender, which is known for its calming and relaxing effects. You can with put this under your pillow to help you get a good night’s sleep, or throw in a drawer to keep your clothes smelling fresh.

I’m really impressed with the Moi-Meme Hygge Box – though it is on the expensive side, the products included are of fantastic quality, and it’s also worth remembering that this box is quarterly – which (when you consider shipping costs) makes it a similar cost to most monthly beauty boxes when you add up the price over a quarter.

moi-meme-october-hygge-box-2016

The Hygge box was so popular that unsurprisingly it has now sold out. So if you think this looks good and fancy signing up for Moi-Meme’s next box – if you subscribe before December 31st you will receive your first box in January. I should mention however, that most of the items from the Hygge box are still available to buy individually in the Moi-Meme shop, so definitely check that out if you like the look of these products.

You can also use code TSNC5 to get £5 off your first box – this has no expiry date 🙂

Cohorted September 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on October 2, 2016

cohorted-september-2016-review

Hi Guys!

I’m a bit late with Cohorted’s September box – I’ve been so busy lately it’s unreal! Let’s take a look inside!

  • Cargo Land Down Under Palette, worth £35.00.
  • Percy & Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo, worth £12.00.
  • Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm, worth £18.00.
  • Kure Bazaar Nail Polish in French Rose, worth £14.00.
  • MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara, 3ml worth about £7.00.

Total value of box = £86.00.

Ok so on first glance, I feel like this box isn’t too bad, but I must admit the Cargo Land Down Under Palette, being the main attraction feels a bit ‘same old’ to me. Cohorted have included so many different Cargo palettes over the months – it would have been nice to see a different brand really. If this is your first Cohorted box though, or your first with a Cargo palette, I think you’ll be happy. The palette itself is a lovely product. It contains a selection on 12 shadows, in mostly neutral shades with a couple bright summery tones too. There is also a black eyeliner pencil and a double ended brush included in the palette.

Next the Percy & Reed products. I haven’t tried this brand before so I was happy to find these in the box. The No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo is a ‘no frills’ dry shampoo that promises to soak up excess oil, cleanse the scalp and leave hair looking fresh and shiny. And the Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery Balm is an overnight treatment that you apply to dry hair before going to bed – then wash off in the morning. I love the sound of this as it’s supposed to help strengthen the hair and combat brittleness and breakage. I’m looking forward to trying this out!

The Kure Bazaar Nail Polish is a nice addition to the box too. Shade French Rose is a pretty pale baby pink – unfortunately though, I haven’t been able to unscrew the lid! I’ve tried a few times with no luck – does anyone have any tips for opening stuck nail polish bottle lids??

And lastly the MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara sample. I put the value of this as ‘about £7.00’ as thats what it works out at when you consider a full size tube at 8ml is £19.00. BUT – those that purchase from MAC will know that these samples are given free with your online orders, so I feel that this is kind of devalued because of that. I guess it depends how you look at it really! It’s a nice mascara though, and a great way to try a sample before you go for the full sized product.

So I think overall this box has been a bit hit and miss really – I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I hope you enjoyed my post xx

Cohorted August 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on August 15, 2016

Cohorted-August-2016-Beauty-Box-Review

Hi Guys!

Cohorted’s August beauty box has just arrived, so let’s take a look inside…

  • NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette, worth £45.00
  • Smith & Cult Nail Polish in xx, worth £19.00
  • Nunzio Saviano Anti-Frizz Sheets, worth £14.00
  • Cohorted Ovali Brush, worth £18.99
  • Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream, 2x 3ml tubes, worth £24.00

Total value of box = £120.99.

Ok so overall this looks like a great box – let’s start with the NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette. Now I’m going to be completely honest and admit I feel a bit on the fence about this one. On the face of it this is an excellent product, it’s a limited edition Andy Warhol palette, and though unboxed, it’s a really nice eyeshadow palette of high value. My only niggle is that this product was launched in 2012 – making it four years old. Now some people might not have a problem with this (and personally I don’t in this case, but of course this depends on the product as well as personal preference) but I think this is definitely a point worth mentioning. You can see what the inside of the palette looks like here.

Next the Smith & Cult Nail Polish – now this really is a gorgeous product! I have a few Smith & Cult polishes (check them out here) and they really are fab polishes, as well as being presented in stunning packaging. This shade is Regret The Moon, it’s a lovely warm white, with the slightest tint of pink to it. In contrast to the above NARS product, this is actually a brand new shade which is great news! 🙂

Next we have Nunzio Saviano – a brand that I haven’t heard of, but their Anti-Frizz Sheets do sound rather appealing, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having lately. The box contains 15 individually wrapped sheets which promise to instantly smooth hair and eliminate frizz, while controlling static ad taming flyways. I think I’ll be taking a few of these to New York with me next week!

Next the Cohorted Ovali Brush. I’ve already done a comparison post on an original Artis brand oval style brush, compared to an Ebay dupe – and in my opinion you definitely don’t need to spend a fortune on ‘oval’ brushes. Cohorted’s own branded oval brushes come with a really nice rose gold and matte black finish, with the Cohorted logo printed on the handle. These are available to order now from Cohorted as either single brushes or sets.

And lastly, the Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream – I couldn’t actually believe it when I worked out that the two tiny 3ml samples included in the box are actually worth £12.00 each! If you look the product up online you’ll see a 20ml tub is £80.00, so this is a great opportunity to try a product that many of us wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to due to the high price. This product promises to firm, nourish and reduce wrinkles. I’ll be interested to see if it makes any difference to my rather large eye bags!

Cohorted-August-2016-Review

Overall I think this is a great box, and definitely well worth the £35.00 price tag. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Cohorted July 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on August 8, 2016

cohorted-july-2016-review

Hi Guys!

I’m a bit late with this one but I finally have Cohorted’s July box to share with you – and in my opinion it’s one of their best yet! Let’s take a look inside the box –

  • NARS Monoi Body Glow 2, worth £25.00.
  • HD Brows Sculpt & Glow Palette, worth £45.00.
  • Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil, worth £10.00.
  • Vintage Cosmetics Company Blending Sponge, worth £5.95.
  • Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Envy, worth £17.05.
  • Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Lipliner in Cinnamon, worth £17.05.

Total value of box = £120.05. WOW! So this box is basically worth a fortune, and includes some fantastic sounding products…

The NARS Monoi Body Glow 2 is a lightweight, multipurpose oil, with the most gorgeous warm tropical fragrance – it just smells like holiday! It contains Monoï de Tahiti oil infused with a variety of nutrients, to leave skin glowing, hydrated and radiant. The bottle also contains a sweet little tiare flower for an added element of luxury.

Next, the HD Brows Sculpt & Glow Palette – this handy palette contains two easy to use shades to contour and highlight the face. It promises to create a naturally highlighted effect that will leave the face looking radiant and illuminated. It’s also infused with Argan Oil to deliver moisture to the complexion, whilst remaining gentle to the skin.

The Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil is described as an indulgent way to cleanse skin, containing a blend of Jasmine Flower Extract, Kukui Nut Oil and botanical oils it dissolves surface impurities and makeup without disrupting the skin’s natural balance. Leaving skin feeling soothed, supple and comfortable.

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Blending Sponge – just like a Beauty Blender, the Vintage Cosmetics Company Blending Sponge promises to help you apply makeup such as foundation, concealer and highlighter with ease, giving a flawless, no-streak finish. The sponge is also infused with Vitamin E, which is renowned for its moisturising properties.

And the Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Envy is the most gorgeous muted dusky rose shade – this really caught my eye just because the colour is so beautiful! The lipstick formula contains a blend of iron oxides with vitamins C and E to protect and moisturise lips, while the natural mineral pigments and waxes allow the colour to glide on effortlessly for a smooth and long-lasting finish.

And lastly, the Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Lipliner in Cinnamon – this is a waterproof lip pencil with a creamy texture, formulated with minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants to give perfect definition, that you can apply with ease.

QVC Tili (Try It, Love It) Beauty Box #TiliBeauty

Posted on July 20, 2016

qvc-tili-beauty-box-july

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re not melting too much in the heatwave? I definitely am! 🙂

I have a brand new and really rather awesome beauty box to share with your today – this is QVC’s TILI box…

TILI stands for Try It, Love It, and the idea is that the box includes luxury samples of some of QVC’s most popular beauty products, giving customers the opportunity to test out new launches from the brands you love, as well as discovering the brands you never knew you needed. It contains QVC’s beauty buyers favourite picks, across skincare, make-up, tanning and body care, and full size versions of all the products in the box are also available at QVC to purchase.

I should point out that there isn’t a subscription service, but there will be a new box available every 3 months. Each box will cost £20.00 and the products will be different each month, with the next box being available in October.

So let’s take a look at what’s included –

  • Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers, full size worth £8.95.
  • Nexxus Shampoo and Conditioner, 89ml each, worth £5.34 each.
  • Vita Librata Phenomenal Mousse, 25ml, worth £6.25.
  • Alpha H Liquid Gold, 50ml, worth £16.75.
  • Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water, 50ml, worth £6.00.
  • BareMinerals Skincare Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion, 7.5ml, worth £8.33.
  • Becca Backlight Priming Filter, 6ml, worth £5.62.

Total value of box = £62.58.

qvc-tili-beauty-box-july-review

On first impression I’m really impressed with the contents of the first TILI box. QVC have included some amazing high end brands, as well as covering a range of beauty including skincare, hair care and makeup. Let’s take a closer look at the products –

Alpha H Liquid gold: Arealy a cult product, this powerful revitalising lotion is designed to help dull, tired and ageing skin appear brighter, as well as improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Vita Librata Phenomenal Mousse: This self-tanning mousse is fast-drying and is designed to last for up to two to three weeks – which really is amazing! It also has a tailored-to-you formula allowing you to choose your desired level of colour.

BareMinerals Skincare Skinlongevity Vital power Infusion: This first-of-its-kind modern serum essence by bareMinerals unleashes your skin’s vitality, youthful resilience and radiance. With the brand’s patented Long Life Herb Extract at its core, this formula leaves your skin feeling empowered, renewed and fortified.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter: This is another must-have cult product, due to the recent popularity of the Becca brand – it’s also been on my wish list for a while so I’m really pleased to find this in the box! The Becca Backlight Priming Filter acts as an instant filter on the skin, creating a diffused, soft-focused radiance that allows your complexion to catch light for a glowing look. It’s also infused with Becca’s blend of crushed pearls, giving the complexion a lit-from-within, healthy-looking glow.

Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers: A classic shade that all nail enthusiasts will be aware of – Ballet slippers is a beautiful pale pink polish with a subtle, sheer finish. This beloved award-winning essential is an iconic colour for all seasons.

qvc-tili-beauty-box-review

Nexxus Shampoo and Conditioner: This shampoo and conditioner duo is perfect for re-balancing and hydrating dry or damaged hair. They contain 100% pure elastin protein and a precious caviar complex to help restore the hair’s natural protective barrier, leaving hair balanced and flexible.

Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water: This refreshing and clarifying micellar water effectively cleanses the skin, removing make-up and the daily build-up of skin pollutants. Cleansing micelles are combined with a complex of natural surfactants to lift impurities from the skin, revealing a clear, radiant complexion.

I have to say I’m really impressed with QVC’s first TILI box. I think the price is fantastic considering the brands included as well as the decent sizes of the luxury samples. This is definitely a must have for beauty box fans!

The QVC July TILI Beauty Box is available from 22/07/16 at QVC.
