Valentine’s Luxury Beauty Gift Guide for Her

Posted on February 11, 2018

Hi Guys!

Valentine’s day is almost upon us, so I thought it was about time I shared my Luxury Beauty Valentine’s Gift Guide! As you can probably guess, this gift guide is packed full of wonderfully luxurious beauty treat, from makeup, to skincare to fragrance – I hope you enjoy!

Ok so this isn’t exactly a beauty product, but I wanted to include this gorgeous Culti Room Spray in Fuoco (£34.00 at Harrods) – described as mysterious and magical, this room spray includes notes of Rose, juicy Citrus, Clove and romantic Patchouli – the perfect room scent for a romantic night in.

Onto fragrances you can wear now, I have a couple of niche fragrance to tantalise your senses! Dear Rose Come Une Fleur EDP is an evocative Eau de Parfum combining the delicacy of sweet Turkish Delight with the vibrancy of zesty Lemons. For the sensual yet vulnerable, the graceful yet strong, the alluring Comme Une Fleur is a stunning masterpiece in perfumery.

Opening with a fresh and breezy combination of Petitgrain and Orange Blossom, the perfume has a heart of sweet, dark and earthy Patchouli and a rich woody base of Ambergris effect and Cashmere Wood. This fragrance is both distinctive and feminine.

  • Top Notes: Petitgrain and Orange Blossom
  • Heart Notes: Patchouli
  • Base Notes: Ambergris and Cashmere wood

I also have the beautiful Mizensir Edition de Veronique  – this scent opens with soft White Musk, leading to a fresh Rose Infusion with Sambac Jasmine and an added hint of Citrus. Iris Absolute and smoky, woody notes of Cade Oil make up the heart, and finally, warm Amber Wood and soft Musk round off the fragrance at the base.

  • Top notes: Fresh Rose Infusion and Sambac Jasmine Tea.
  • Heart Notes: Iris absolute and Cade Oil.
  • Base Notes: White Musk and Amber Wood.

When it comes to fragrance, Tuberose is one of my favourite notes, and the beautiful Aerin Tuberose Luxuriant Body Cream (£70.00) is just Tuberose at its finest. It’s described as a rich body cream that hydrates, smooths, and softens with the delicate scent of a luxurious Tuberose blend, which perfectly complements both the Aerin Tuberose Le Jour and Tuberose Le Soir fragrances.

If rose scents are more your thing, the Maison Francis Kurkdjian “A La Rose” Scented Body Cream and Shower Cream could be perfect for you. These beautifully scented bath and body products make the perfect addition to the Maison Francis À la rose range, adorning the body with a dazzling floral scent with notes of of Centifolia and Damascena roses – just beautiful!

And what would a luxury gift guide be without a bit of Tom Ford? The Tom Ford The Ultimate Bronzer (£75.00) really is the height of luxury, and for the price, you’d expect nothing less than the very best. The packaging is of course beautiful, and this bronzer is also super sized, so you know it’s going to last. The Tom Ford Ultimate Bronzer features a silky, lightweight texture with an exclusively formulated mineral blend of Sunstone, Amber and Black Tourmaline Crystals, combined with unique pigments to flawlessly highlight your skin’s natural radiance.

I also have a matching Tom Ford Ultra Rich Lip Color in shade 04 Aphrodite (£40.00) – I mean you really can’t beat Tom Ford lipsticks, and the Ultra Rich Lip Color’s are just what you need if you’re looking for full coverage, vibrant, moisturising high shine colour – what more does a girl need?

From Chantecaille I have the stunning Chantecaille Philanthropy Cheek Colour in ‘Bee’. This is one of those products that’s just so pretty and special, that you don’t actually want to use it!

Chantecaille’s Philanthropy Cheek Colour is a finely milled, featherweight pressed powder blush, designed to deliver a light veil of naturally flushed colour. Inspired by magical creatures of the wild, the Philanthropy collection is dedicated to six charities that work to support endangered species around the world, reflected in each intricate, shimmering embossed design. With this cheek colour, your morning makeup routine becomes a mindful, reflective act, brushing on lightly and blending in seamlessly to create a rosy glow.

And I also have a Chantecaille Lip Chic Lip Colour in shade Hyacinth – This beautiful hybrid lip colour combines the high shine and plumping effects of a gloss with the rich, even coverage of a lipstick. The formula also contains hyaluronic acid, giving a soft, lightweight texture that helps to soften and condition the lips.

And lastly I have the ever-so-luxurious Rodial Rose Gold Skincare Collection. This collection is possibly Rodial’s most lavish yet, and comprises of three products – a moisturiser, serum and deep line filler, each promising to deliver both immediate and long term anti-ageing skin benefits. The products in this collection contain Fresh White Rose Cells to oxygenate the skin, increasing cellular respiration and renewal for a radiant, bright complexion, and 24 Carat Gold Technology to stimulate powerful vertical and horizontal wrinkle smoothing action. Each product includes only the finest ingredients to promote smoother and luminous looking skin.

I’d love to hear if you have any plans for Valentine’s day? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: New Benefit BADGal Bang Mascara

Posted on February 10, 2018

Hi Guys!

I have the brand new Benefit BADGal Bang Mascara to share with you today! The latest mascara launch from Benefit promises a massive 36 hours of volume, without weighing down the lashes – the whole idea here is that you can get a super voluminous look, without feeling like you have a heavy product on your lashes, which can feel quite uncomfortable as the day goes on.

The new BADGal Bang formula promises to be smudge-proof, water-resistant, and volumising. It contains aero-particles, which are one of the lightest known materials derived from space technology, as well as ProVitamin B5 to aid thickness & strength. It also comes with a custom Slimpact! brush – streamlined to reach root-to-tip, corner-to-corner, upper & lower lashes for big volume with 360 degree reach.

Benefit advise you to ‘Wiggle the Slimpact! brush from base of lashes to tip. Apply one coat to both eyes, repeat as desired to build BIGGER and BIGGER volume.’ So let’s see if it actually works…

Ok so the Slimpact! wand head is quite long and has teeny tiny spikes, rather than traditional bristles. They’re flexible and easily grab even the tiniest of lashes. When I first saw the brush, I thought I really wouldn’t like it, as I’ve used mascaras before with similar looking brushes that have been so spiky and sharp they actually hurt my eyes! These bristles though are soft and flexible, so this wasn’t a problem.

I have to say I actually love the style of the brush. I have very short, straight lashes and larger brushes with longer bristles can be a nightmare to use precisely. I loved how the Slimpact! brush is long in length, but not chunky, and you can easily get right to the edges of the eyes and coat those tiny fine hairs that larger brushes seem to miss.

I know what you want to know – but is it clumpy? Well the answer is, yes it can be, but not necessarily. It really depends on how you apply your mascara, how thickly you put it on and how many coats. I found it quite easy to apply this in a way that gave fantastic volume, without any clumpiness. The formula does seem to want to stick the lashes together, so you just need to take a moment to go over the lashes a couple of times to makeup sure they’re separated. I didn’t find this mascara to help with curl at all – so you’ll definitely want to curl your lashes before hand, and it was slightly lengthening but not noticeably so.

Overall I actually really like this mascara, it definitely feels lightweight as advertised, and it gives a really dramatic look. You just need to take a bit more time with application to separate the lashes. This is a must have if you’re specifically looking for volume!

Benefit BADGal Bang Mascara is £21.50 and available now at Debenhams. Debenhams are also currently offering a free gift plus £5 worth of points when you purchase the BADgal Bang Mascara.

Beauty: The Revlon Lip Wardrobe

Posted on February 5, 2018

Hi Guys!

I have a few new lip releases from Revlon to share with you today! Now I must admit, Revlon isn’t a brand that I’d usually gravitate towards – for no other reason than I’m just not really familiar with their products. So when they offered to send over their ‘Lip Wardrobe’ including a selection of their new lip launches, I jumped at the chance and thought this would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the brand…

Firstly I have the Ultra HD Gel Lip Color (£5.99) – these are kind of half way between a lipstick and a balm, in a long twist up tube. The Ultra HD Gel Lip Colours include hyaluronic acid for an ultra hydrating formula, and the gel stick promises to be intensely hydrating, offering lightweight colour pigments suspended in a clear gel base, with a creamy mango and whipped vanilla scent.

I think these are probably my favourite products out of the bunch. My problem is I more than often have dry lips, and I love wearing matte liquid lipsticks, which really don’t help. So a nice lightweight hydrating lip product is just what I need – I love that these have a decent amount of pigment for a light hint of colour, and feel moisturising and super comfortable to wear.

  • 720 HD Pink Cloud – a sheer petal pink.
  • 700 HD Sand – a sheer light apricot.

Next I have the Ultra HD Matte Lip Color (above top product, £6.99) and the Ultra HD Matte Lip Color Metallic (bottom two shades, £6.99) – these products are both described as lightweight, high definition gel matte lip colours, offering a moisturising, velvety feel. They have the same light mango and vanilla fragrance as the above products. The original Matte Lip Colour comes in 7 shades, and the Matte Lip Colour Metallic comes in 5 shades.

The formula of these lipsticks is nothing like a traditional matte finish liquid lipstick, the product itself is very thick, yet it feels very light, smooth and moisturising on the lips – it really feels like you’re wearing a lip balm! They look particularly shiny on my swatches above but are way more matte when applied on the lips. I should also mention that they don’t ‘set’ or dry down like a traditional liquid lipstick, which is why they feel so hydrating. These products will move around and you’ll probably want to wear a lip liner too for definition.

  • 675 HD Infatuation – a deep burgundy
  • 705 HD Shine – a metallic mauve pink.
  • 690 HD Gleam – a metallic light peach.

For fans of a more traditional lipstick, there’s also the Super Lustrous Lipsticks (£5.49) – these are formulated with microfine pigments, promising high-impact colour, with a smooth moisturizing feel.

These lipstick actually feel very similar on the lips to the Ultra HD Gel Lip Colors. They’re moisturising, and have more pigment, but a similar sheeny finish. I really like these and I think they’d definitely make great affordable day to day lipsticks.

  • 045 Naughty Plum – a mid muted plum.
  • 046 Bombshell Red – a slightly blue toned red.
  • 044 Bare Affair – a light peach toned beige.

And lastly the Colorstay Lipliner (£4.29) – promising longwearing definition, these lipliners help lip colour last longer and prevent feathering and bleeding. There’s not really too much I can say about these lip liners – they do the job! They’re not drying in any way, and they come with a built-in sharpener, which is very handy.

  • Plum – a mid toned pinky plum.
  • Nude – a light beige nude.

The above Revlon products are all available now at Boots.

I’d love to hear if you use Revlon products, and what you’d recommend? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Fragrance: Shay & Blue Black Tulip EDP

Posted on January 31, 2018

Hi Guys!

I have the latest offering from niche fragrance brand, Shay & blue to share with you today. I only had my first experience Shay & Blue fairly recently, when I visited their beautiful Mayfair Flagship Store last Autumn, and I was absolutely blown away by their fragrances! I left with my two favourites at the time, which were Salted Caramal and Blood Oranges (you can read my full write up here)

Shay & Blue have now added a brand new fragrance to their collection for 2018 – Black Tulip. I must admit I wasn’t too sure what to expect from this scent, but I was more than pleasantly surprised to find that Black Tulip is absolutely beautiful! The fragrance is described as a modern floral, but it’s really so much more than that. It has the most wonderful combination of white florals, juicy fruits, smooth woods and delicious creamy white chocolate. I honesty don’t think I’ve tried another fragrance like this before.

Black Tulip is most definitely a unique modern floral scent. It opens with notes of Snowdrops and Cyclamen offering an inviting hit of crisp floral freshness, leading to a juicy heart of Plum with intense and velvety Black Tulip. The base rounds the fragrance off beautifully with warming notes of deliciously creamy vanilla White Chocolate and Soft Woods.

To me this is very much a wintery scent, that’s both elegant and refined, yet offers a cosy warmth – it makes me think of evenings by the fire, snuggling in cosy soft blankets and long winter walks. The freshness of at the top of Black Tulip is perfectly counterpinned by the warming and indulgent base, give a fantastic new statement floral EDP. This is just a beautiful scent all round, and in my opinion a must try!

  • Top NotesSnowdrops and Cyclamen.
  • Heart Notes: Black Tulip and Plum.
  • Base Notes: White Chocolate and Soft Woods.

Black Tulip is very reasonably priced at £55.00 for 100ml and available now at Shay & Blue.

Beauty: Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip Collection & Rose Skincare Products

Posted on January 29, 2018

Hi Guys!

Just before Christmas I received the most gorgeous PR package from Pixi Beauty – it was a beautiful locked box (that I’m totally keeping for storing pretty things in!) containing their brand new MatteLast Liquid Lip Collection, as well as a couple of their new rose themed skincare products. Let’s take a look a the lipsticks first…

The new MatteLast Liquid Lipsticks (£16.00) promise to be extremely longwearing & comfortable to wear, they’re infused with rosehip oil to leave lips feeling hydrated, whilst giving lips intense pigmentation with a matte finish.

Firstly, the shade selection is beautiful. Pixi have launched this collection with five nude pink shades that are all easy to wear, perfect day to day colours, for a ‘your lips but better’ natural look. The formula is excellent, it feels lightweight on the lips and it’s intensely pigmented, with only one ‘dip’ needed to fully cover your lips. It also dries down quickly to a full matte finish which pretty much lasts all day. I have to say this is one of the best matte finish liquid lipsticks I’ve tried!

There are currently five natural shades available (left to right) –

  • Au Naturelle – a light nude peach.
  • Matte Beige – a warm toned beige.
  • Pastel Petal – a pink toned beige.
  • Really Rose – a mid rose pink.
  • Evening Rose – a deep rose pink.

You can see that some of the shades are quite similar – Matte Beige has slightly more of a caramel tone compared to Pasted Petal, and Really Rose is slightly lighter in colour than Evening Rose. Really Rose is definitely my favourite!

Just a side note – I’ve just quickly looked at the Pixi site and noticed they’ve now added another shade to the collection – Prettiest Pink, which looks to be a cool toned Barbie pink shade.

I also have the brand new Rose Caviar Essence (£26.00) – this is a gel-like serum that has been designed to soften, refine and tone the skin. It contains tiny encapsulated flower oil spheres suspended in the serum, which burst on contact, melting into the skin to hydrate and restore brightness, for optimum radiance.

I really love the texture of the Rose Caviar Essence, it’s super lightweight, and turns into a hydrating liquid once applied to the skin. The flower oils penetrate the skin without any greasiness, and it just leaves your complexion feeling smooth and hydrated, with a lovely light rose scent.

And lastly the Rose Flash Balm (£26.00) – this is a radiance-boosting balm, perfect for giving life to tired and dull skin, and for helping with signs of fatigue. It has an oil-free, quick absorbing formula that promises to instantly moisturise and brighten – it can be used either as a primer before you apply makeup, or as a revitalising face mask.

Personally, I prefer to use this as a primer – you only need a small amount, and I found it really helped to even out my complexion, making my pores appear smaller, as well as giving my skin a much needed over all brightening effect due to the slight pink tint of the balm. This is definitely another must have!

The above products are available now at Pixi Beauty, M&S and Cult Beauty.

Beauty: Too Faced Peaches & Cream Collection

Posted on January 22, 2018

Hi Guys!

Before Christmas I was fortunate enough to be invited to the launch party for the brand new Too Faced store at Carnaby Street, London. This is pretty big news for the brand as it’s their first ever stand alone store worldwide – and the party was SO much fun! We got to check out loads of new products which are only available in the UK exclusively in store, and we were then transported (via rickshaw!) to the after party, it was the best night!

I was also given the most amazing goody bag at the event, containing absolutely loads of Too Faced products. The bag included pretty much the whole new Peaches & Cream Collection which I want to share with you today…

Starting with the Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette (£33.00) – this gorgeous looking palette contains 12 matte eyeshadows in a selection of beautiful warm tones. The eyeshadow formula is infused with Too Faced’s exclusive Comfort Matte Technology, promising an easily bendable finish with intense colour payoff – and of course the whole palette smells of Peaches & Sweet Fig Cream! I’m so pleased that these eyeshadows applied just as nicely as I’d hoped – I won’t lie, the formula was a little on the stiff side, but not so bad that it caused a problem. If you’re looking for a warm toned matte-only palette this is definitely worth checking out.

I have a few of the cheek products too – the three above are all housed in similar peach shaped packaging, and all have a melting powder formula. This means they have a creamy texture which transforms into a lightweight powder on application. All three promise buildable, bendable colour, and have the same light peaches and cream scent.

The Peach My Cheeks Blush in So Peachy (£25.00) can be used on both the face and lips, and I found it was easiest applied with fingers rather than a brush. The formula is creamy and velvety soft on the skin, giving a subtle and very pretty hint of colour on the cheeks. The Peach Frost Highlighter in Happy Face (£25.00) again has a creamy texture that turns powdery soft on application, and again I found application with fingers definitely worked the best. This highlighter is a light champagne colour, and gives a subtle shimmery highlight. And the Bronzed Peach Bronzer in Toasted Peach (£25.00) – just like the previous two, I applied this with my fingers but found this one a bit harder to work with. I felt like this was harder to blend out and look even, though somebody more skilled than me could probably make it work pretty easily!

If you prefer powder formulas to creams, Too Faced also have a Sweetie Pie Powder Bronzer (£25.00) which honestly is the prettiest product I’ve ever seen! The compact includes four blendable shades which combine to give a radiant complexion and a soft, flawless look. The compact has a light gold overspray, which only lasts for a few uses, and the actual product underneath has a really nice pearly satin finish with buildable colour that’s very flattering. This worked really well on my pale skin and gave my complexion a lovely natural looking glow.

And there’s also a Peach Blur Finishing Powder (£25.00) – this is a translucent smoothing finishing powder with opal-correcting spheres to smooth harsh lines and blur imperfections. Though this powder appears peach coloured, it applies translucent and gives a super smooth, blurring effect that makes your skin look amazing! This powder also eliminates shine and just generally smoothes out the complexion – and I’m happy to say it doesn’t cling to dry areas. This is probably my favourite product out of the collection!

There is also a Peaches & Cream Foundation, which I don’t have, but I do have the Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder (£20.00) – this is a universal peach tinted setting powder designed to brighten the skin and create a silky smooth matte canvas. This product is oil and shine free, transfer-resistant, and promises 14 hours of wear. The formula is talc based and is super finely milled, making it feel amazingly soft and silky on the skin, and thought it didn’t live up to the 14 hours as promised, a light dusting of this did keep my nose matte for over half the day, and it didn’t cling to my dry skin, so this is a winner in my books!

Now on to the Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray (£27.00) – this is described as a refreshing, oil-controlling setting spray to keep makeup in place. It promises a matte finish, decreased shine and a soft-focus finish to blur imperfections, and it’s also supposed to last up to 16 hours. Again, the wear time has definitely been embellished here, but I did find that this gave my skin a lovely matte finish, which lasted around six hours or so.

And the Primed & Peachy Primer (£27.00) – this is a cooling primer that helps to blur flaws and smooth the complexion with a brightening peach tint. It gives a soft-focus finish that’s lightweight and comfortable. It also promises 12 hours of shine control, which again I think is reaching a bit, but it is a nice primer that definitely gives your foundation a decent matte base.

And lastly, I have a couple of the Peach Kiss Lipsticks (£19.00) – these lipsticks are of course packaged beautifully, and promise an intensely pigmented matte finish with eight hours of wear. The shades I have are Got Peach? a nude terracotta pink, and Where My Peaches At? which is a bright tangerine orange. Both shades are amazingly well pigmented and feel very comfortable and creamy on the lips. The finish isn’t a full on matte like you’d get with a liquid lipstick, but it’s still a very good demi-matte. These shades are really very nice but you’ll want to make sure your lips are in tip top condition before applying.

So what are my final thoughts? Well to begin with, the packaging is spot on. It’s cute, yet grown up and luxe feeling – definitely dressing table worthy. I absolutely loved the Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette, Sweetie Pie Bronzer and Peach Blur Finishing Powder, and I’d highly recommend these if you’re looking to pick up a couple of items from the collection. Nothing was hideously bad in my books, though a couple of products could have been slightly better in terms of formula – and as a final thought, you should just be wary if you’re sensitive to or just not keen on scented products, as the whole collection is scented, with some products stronger than others. Personally I love the peachy scent, and I definitely think this collection is worth checking out of you’re a fan of Too Faced!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
