Christmas Gifts Ideas for Jewellery Lovers

Hi Guys!

When it comes to jewellery, I really am a magpie. I started collecting 70’s and 80’s jewellery many years ago, and though I don’t pick any vintage pieces up these days, I still have to look at jewellery whenever I go shopping, I’m like a moth to a flame. I’ve put together a few ideas for Christmas jewellery gifts today, they’re all affordable and definitely won’t break the bank, and some are from well known brands while some are lesser known. I hope you enjoy!

silver-bunny-ring-holder

Ok let’s start with this Silver Bunny Ring Holder (£8.95), isn’t it just the sweetest thing? The perfect gift for anyone that likes to swap between different rings on a regular basis, this Bunny Ring Holder will keep rings safe and sound whilst looking gorgeous displayed on any dressing table. I love that it’s a functional item whilst being quirky yet chic – oh and under a tenner too!

Glittering-Double-Wrap-Bracelet

Or what about this lovely Glittering Double Wrap Bracelet (£19.95) – this bracelet is just so pretty, and in neutral colours so it’s easy to wear too. It wraps around the wrist twice, featuring two different types of beads so it actually looks like two bracelets. It’s made of leather so it’s hard wearing, and will look fantastic as a casual or dressed up accessory.

Rio-Grande-Lavender-Quartz-Ring

I’m in love with this stunning Rio Grande Lavender Quartz Ring (£65.00) it’s such an unusual colour and catches the light beautifully. The stone is massive – and it’s such a gorgeous shape for a cocktail ring. I just need an event to go to so I can wear it now! 🙂

Freya-Necklace-in-Sterling-Silver

Or if you prefer necklaces, what about this Freya Necklace in Sterling Silver (£45.00). This necklace is simple, beautiful and yet somewhat unusual. It features two organic shapes, inspired by dried up autumn leaves, which I think is a lovely concept.

ted-baker-arrow-earrings

And lastly, I just had to include some rose gold! These Ted Baker Arrow Small Drop Earrings (£25.00) are really dainty and pretty, and a complete bargain at only £25.00! Ted Baker produce some of the most gorgeous clothing and gifts, but I hadn’t really taken much notice of their jewellery range before – I’m so glad I have now though as I’ve added a few more pieces to my Christmas list! Definitely check out their jewellery range if you’re a fan of TB!

I’d love to hear if any of these pieces have caught your eye? Or if there’s any jewellery on your Christmas list this year?

Cinderella Nails and Nude Jewellery

Hi Guys!

Unless you’ve been living on a desert island without any internet connection, you’ll have noticed the world has been going a bit Cinderella crazy of late. Personally I love the original Disney movie which was a favourite of mine as a child, and now Disney have released their new live-action Cinderella film to re-ignite our love for the fairy-tale once again. Plenty of brands have jumped on this as a theme and used it as an exciting and interesting selling point for their products – of course I’m talking about the MAC collection that everyone and their dog went crazy about. I noticed it didn’t include any nail colours though, and this is where Morgan Taylor comes in.

To me, the colours that represent Cinderella are definitely pale and mid blues with irridesence, to portray her amazing sparkly ball gown. There are six shades in the Morgan Taylor Cinderella collection, and I have the most ‘Cinderella-y’ of them all (in my opinion). I have Best Ball Gown Ever, descried as an iridescent periwinkle shade and If The Slipper Fits, a light blue holo glitter, and they are both just so beautiful!

I used Best Ball Gown Ever across my nails, and this shade took three coats for full opacity. I then added a coat of If The Slipper Fits to my ring finger for added sparkle!

The full collection includes six new shades:

  • Party at the Palace – Iridescent teal
  • My Carriage Awaits – Coral crème
  • Watch Your Step, Sister! – Hot pink crème
  • If the Slipper Fits – Light blue glitter
  • Ella of a Girl – Light pink crème
  • Best Ball Gown Ever – Iridescent periwinkle

I love how my nails catch the light and look different shades of blue 🙂 The Cinderella collection from Morgan Taylor will be available from Sally stores or Sally Express from 01/03/15, oh and did you happen to notice my sparkly new silver bracelet..?

Yesss! Just look at it!! Nude Jewellery kindly sent me this stunning Multi Chain Silver Bracelet from their Chain Reaction Collection to show you, and I am just in love with it. I thought the Morgan Taylor nail polishes would accompany it perfectly – and possibly turn me into a princess?? Ok well they gave me princessy hands at least! 🙂

The Chain Reaction bracelet has a medium sized silver chain as the base, with finer chains wrapped around and woven through it to create a stunning effect. It’s so pretty and delicate, yet interesting and easy to wear with a whole load of different looks. I’ve been wearing this pretty much every day since it arrived and I’ve had so many compliments already! Nude Jewellery stock a massive range of contemporary jewellery in styles to suit every taste, so even if this isn’t up your street, do check their site out if you’re on the hunt for some gorgeous new jewellery.

So I’m pretty sure I’ll never want to take this bracelet off, and I think I’m going to get a lot of use out of my pretty new polishes too now! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any Morgan Taylor polishes, or if you own any Nude Jewlellery?

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Professional Gel Nails at Home with NYK1

Posted on October 21, 2014

nk1-nail-set

Hi Guys!

I’ve never really been a ‘lets go to the salon and get a mani’ type. It always seems like a real luxury and expense, where I could use the money for other things such as makeup! Ha ha! I did, however have my nails done in a local salon for my wedding last year, the whole ‘gel’ thing was a brand new concept to me. I was impressed by the process, and even more by the staying power of the polish. My salon mani did not budge, at all. It didnt peel and eventually started to grow off. It got to a point where I either had to have it removed or re-done, and it turned out that both cost pretty much the same price (sneaky) so I decided to remove it myself in the end. The nails cost £25 to be done, then £20 to be professionally removed or £25 to be removed and re-done. So you’re looking at basically £25 a month to have them done continuously. This is where NYK1 come in. They are a fabulous new company that offer everything you need to get the perfect professional salon manicure from the comfort of your own home, and once you’ve bought the kit, you can buy whichever polishes you like – just think of the savings!

NYK1 kindly sent me a kit with everything I needed to get going – it included the same products as what salons use so I knew it was going to be top quality!

The kit includes everything you see in the image above –

  • Acetone Remover
  • Nail File
  • Base Coat & Top Coat
  • Cuticle Sticks
  • Lint Free Wipes
  • Prep&Shine Sticky Residue Remover
  • Nail Buffer

As well as a large UV light lamp shown below –

I got to choose two nail colours to go with my set, so I went with Fudge, a pretty beigy brown shade and Helena, a mid toned purple. The set comes wit full instructions for applying the polish, which are really straight forward and easy to follow.

nk1-gel-nals-first-layer

Above is after one coat – the instructions advise a minimum of two coats of polish, but you can build them as much as you see fit to get your required finish.

nk1-nails-3rd-layer

The Helena shade of polish needed three coats for full opacity. You literally put the polish on, ‘cure’ under the light for 2 minutes and repeat until you’ve built up the coverage, easy! I couldn’t quite get used to the fact that the nail polish was instantly dry at the end, I’m used to flapping my arms around for half an hour!

nk1-nails-with-bracelet

I really like this colour with my gorgeous Coast bracelet from House of Fraser which I haven’t had a chance to wear yet! 🙂

nk1-finished-nails-helena

The final test is to see if my polish lasts the advertised 14 days, fingers crossed! I’ll keep you posted 🙂

You can purchase complete kits from as little as £64.95 from NYK1.com.

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any pro nail products at home and how you got on? I hope you enjoyed my review xxx

Hi Guys!

I just have a quick post for you today – I’ve come across some amazing jewellery and had to share it with you! Lily Kamper’s AW14 collection is simply stunning. It’s futuristic, it’s unusual, it’s luxe, and oh so colourful – it ticks all the boxes for me! Lily creates pieces with classic marble and contemporary dyed perspex to produce a striking, futuristic trademark look.

Inspired by the iridescent outer glow of the moon, photographs of the Earth at night and elaborate marble stairways, Lily has created a range that’s as curious as it is cutting edge. Lily’s hand dyed columns have been updated with some gorgeous colour ways including; matte emerald green with cracked black marbling, purple mixed with grey, yellow and midnight blue.

The range is fabulously diverse, with a considered collection of bracelets and rings as well as Lily’s column pendants in a range of shapes and sizes, from tiny to more robust, to create a collection that’s varied yet wearable. I have to say I really can’t get enough of this collection! Please let me know what you think! xxx

Urraca Vintage Kaleidoscope Bracelet

Posted on April 22, 2014

urraca

Hi Guys!

I hope you’ve had a fab Easter and bank holiday, back to the grindstone now hey! (At least it’s not too long till the next bank holiday!) I have a lovely piece of jewellery to show you today – I was completely over the moon last week when Urraca Vintage offered to send me one of their amazing Kaleidoscope bracelets to share with you guys…

irridescent bracelet

Firstly here’s a bit more info about Urraca Vintage –

Each unique piece of Urraca jewellery has a story to tell….

We take timeless, beautiful and interesting details from vintage and antique jewellery dating from the 1800´s through to the 1990´s and juxtapose them to create pieces reborn with show stopping charisma and contemporary appeal while still reflecting the history and multitude of eras from which they were born.

Much of our time is spent searching for treasured items and each piece has been hand picked for its character, style and versatilty. We then transform these little gems and give them a new lease of life to create mesmerising ensembles that will seduce those that seek individuality.

The beauty of jewellery is that it can compliment the body as well as enrich an outfit whatever the occasion. The Urraca range embraces this with a selection of unisex statement body chains for those attention grabbing moments, intricate necklaces for every day wear, our ´Kaleidoscope´range of eye catching bracelets as well as whole host of other stand out from the crowd accessories.

irridescent packaging

The package arrived in a printed cardboard box and inside was the bracelet wrapped in some awesome iridescent wrapping paper, and an original vintage black and white photo with the Urraca Vintage logo printed on the back, this was such a lovely personal touch 🙂 And not to go into it too deeply, but this photo of a mother and her children enjoying the sunshine was once someone’s memory… maybe once treasured, maybe lost, or just forgotten about. I find it very thought provoking.

urraca bracelet

That’s enough about the packaging, just look at the bracelet! How gorgeous is this!? You know I’m a sucker for anything holographic or shiny so this is right up my street!! Here is my exact bracelet if you’d like to check it out.

bracelet

The stone catches the light and reflects different colours depending on how you look at it, I’m mesmerised!! I definitely have my eye on Urraca’s vintage jewellery now, the Cascading Necklace is gorgeous!

What do you think? Do you love this bracelet as much as I do!?  xxx
