Lifestyle: Moi-Meme October Hygge Box Review

Posted on November 6, 2016

moi-meme-october-hygge-box-review

Hi Guys!

If you haven’t heard of Moi-Meme, this is a brand new quarterly lifestyle box which launched earlier this year, and I think this is only their second box. I love that each box has a theme – and I have to admit I did google ‘hygge’ to find the exact meaning as well as how to pronounce it. I knew it was Danish, and it was some sort of new lifestyle trend, but wasn’t sure of the exact meaning…

So for those as in the dark as I was, Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) roughly translates to ‘cosiness’ but it actually means much more than that. Hygge is a whole lifestyle concept, where you take simple every day tasks and make them more meaningful –

Hygge; noun – a fundamental quality of Danish culture, Hygge cannot be translated using a single word. Rather, it includes many of the pleasures associated with everyday living – relaxing with friends, enjoying good food, and creating a cosy evening by lighting a candle or two.

The Mio-Meme Hygge box contains a fab selection of products aiming to help you feel warm and cozy this winter, as well as a couple of skincare and jewellery treats too –

  • Cosy Sleep Socks (£18.00)
  • Lavender Bag (£5.00)
  • Nuori Vital Foaming Cleanser 100ml (worth £25.00)
  • Nuori Vital Eye Cream 5ml (worth £16.66)
  • Edblad Monaco Bracelet (worth £26.00)
  • The Bath Candle Company Somerset Apple & Cinnamon Candle (worth £25.00)

Total value of box = £115.66. Considering the box is £49.95 per quarter, you’re definitely getting good value for money.

the-bath-candle-company-somerset-apple-cinnamon-candle

My favourite product in this box has to be The Bath Candle Company Candle – apart from looking super chic it also smells amazing! The scent is Somerset Apple & Cinnamon and it really smells to die for. I’ve just taken a look at their site and their other scents sound wonderful too. I think I’ll be popping their Orange & Chilli candle on my Christmas list!

cosy-sleep-socks

Next are the Cosy Sleep Socks from Love Yawn. These socks are wonderfully soft and include a small amount of cashmere in the material, to give an element of luxury and comfort. Now the weather has gotten colder I’ve been wearing them in bed, and my toes have been super toasty and warm.

edblad-monaco-bracelet

I was really surprised to find a gorgeous bracelet in the box – this gorgeous Monaco Bracelet from Edblad of Stockholm is just so delicate and pretty – and even if it’s not your style, it would make a fabulous Christmas gift.

nuori-vital-foaming-cleanser

There’s also a couple of skincare products in the box from Nuori. I haven’t heard of this brand before so looked them up and found out that they are in fact Danish, which of course goes nicely with the Hygge theme. What makes them different to every other skincare brand is they make small batches of products every 12 weeks – therefore each product is fresh and includes less additives and preservatives thank your average skincare. You can read more about them here.

Their Vital Foaming Cleanser is a luxuriously creamy cleanser that removed makeup and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils, and the Vital Eye Cream sample is a lightweight eye cream that promises to hydrate the eye area whilst reducing the signs of ageing.

nuori-vital-eye-cream-and-lavender-bag

And lastly the Rainy Days Lavender Bag from Love Yawn. This super cute fabric bag is filled with fragrant lavender, which is known for its calming and relaxing effects. You can with put this under your pillow to help you get a good night’s sleep, or throw in a drawer to keep your clothes smelling fresh.

I’m really impressed with the Moi-Meme Hygge Box – though it is on the expensive side, the products included are of fantastic quality, and it’s also worth remembering that this box is quarterly – which (when you consider shipping costs) makes it a similar cost to most monthly beauty boxes when you add up the price over a quarter.

moi-meme-october-hygge-box-2016

The Hygge box was so popular that unsurprisingly it has now sold out. So if you think this looks good and fancy signing up for Moi-Meme’s next box – if you subscribe before December 31st you will receive your first box in January. I should mention however, that most of the items from the Hygge box are still available to buy individually in the Moi-Meme shop, so definitely check that out if you like the look of these products.

You can also use code TSNC5 to get £5 off your first box – this has no expiry date 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

New In Beauty: Products Worth Checking Out!

Posted on September 13, 2016

new-in-beauty-products-worth-checking-out

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

loccitane-candle

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

clarins-lancome-pur

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

sleek

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

chantecaille-espa

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

loreal-french-girl-body-shop-tea-tree

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

soap-and-glory

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

erborian-w7-kiehls-new

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

Well there we have it, I hope you found this post useful – please do let me know if you have any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts! xxx

Hi Guys!

When it comes to Christmas gifting, or any gifting for that matter, NEOM Organics really is where it’s at. I guarantee if you go on their site looking for gifts, you’ll end up picking at least something up for yourself! I just can’t get over how beautiful their products are, as well as the fragrances they use – and their packaging is everything. I think I’m in love!

If you’re not aware of NEOM Organics, they’re pioneers of wellbeing, relaxation and calmness, things I think all of us covet in the era of 24/7 social media. They have specific product ranges which are perfect if you need to de-stress, if you’re looking for tranquility or to boost energy. ‘Scent to make you feel good’ is their motto, and Neom aims to help you get where you want to be with the aid of their fantastic bath, body and home products.

It’s also great to hear that NEOM’s products are 100% natural, ethically sourced and finely crafted in Britain from sustainable origins with no artificial ingredients. So there’s nothing synthetic in their products, no petrochemicals, SLS, parabens, PEGs or silicone.

Can we just take a moment to look at the packaging? NEOM have some of the prettiest packaging I’ve ever seen, with pastel watercolour splashes and gold detailing on a crisp white background, this is definitely gifting at its finest.

neom-organics-christmas-sets

I have the Instantly De-stress Gift Collection and the Christmas Wish Candle to show you today.

The limited edition Christmas Wish Candle is just beautiful, I have the large three wick version which has an impressive 50 hours burn time. The Christmas Wish fragrance contains 13 of the purest possible essential oils including mandarin, cinnamon and tonka bean, expertly blended to help reduce stress levels whilst evoking the comforting feeling of a traditional Christmas.

The candle is also available in the Perfect Peace fragrance, which is from the Scent to make you happy range.

When I was taking these photos in my kitchen, my husband came in and said ‘Wow, it smells like Father Christmas’ Girlfriend in here!’ – yes he actually said that. And I have to say he’s right! The Christmas Wish Candle definitely smells ‘Christmassy’ but also very soft and feminine. I love it!

neom-de-stress-set

And not forgetting the Instantly De-Stress Gift Collection – what a gorgeous set for gifting hey! This set contains a Real Luxury Travel Candle, a 10ml Daily De-Stress Bath & Shower Oil, a 5ml De-Stress On The Go Mist, and a bonus £20 spa voucher.

The Real Luxury™ Travel Candle contains 24 essential oils including lavender, jasmine and Brazilian rosewood, expertly blended to help reduce stress levels. This is a beautifully relaxing scent which is perfect for a chilled out evening or a pampering bath.

The Daily De-Stress Bath & Shower Oil is a beautifully scented oil that accompanies the candle perfectly for the most relaxing bath of your life! It is a small bottle but you only need a capful of oil poured into your bathwater to turn your bathroom into a lovely aromatic and tranquil space.

And lastly the De-Stress On The Go Mist. I’m a big fan of facial mists and spritzes. Sometimes it’s jus the thing you need to give you a boost during the day. This one is slightly different though, rather than energising, following the theme of the set this mist is designed to evoke feelings of calm and relaxation. NEOM advise you to slowly breathe in through your nose for 7 seconds and out through your mouth slowly for 11 seconds after spraying the mist above your head. I’ve done this a few times now and it really does help to de-stress and relax your body and mind.

So there we have it, and I know I’m going on, but aren’t these really just the most beautiful products? Get them on your Christmas list now! 😀

Jo Malone Christmas Gift Collection 2015

Posted on October 13, 2015

JML-Christmas-2015-Press-Brochure-1

Hi Guys!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have noticed I had a rather exciting meeting at Jo Malone yesterday. I went to Jarrold department store in Norwich to hear all about their Christmas collection – whilst having a much appreciated hand and arm massage.

I’m not going to give away all the details about their gorgeous gifts just yet, because where’s the fun in that!? Instead I thought I’d tell you a bit about what to expect this Christmas from Jo Malone, and to whet your appetite for the gifting collection with some of their amazing lifestyle images!

JML-Group-Party-Image-1

So for holiday 2015, Jo Malone have gone vintage luxe, with a glamorous 1950’s Christmas party theme. The models are dressed in fabulous 50’s party dresses, but with a modern twist.

Green is also the colour for this collection, with mistletoe featuring heavily throughout, as well as green candy stripes and a pretty green velvet ribbon replacing Jo Malone’s traditional black ribbon.

JML-Lifestyle_Roasted-Chestnut-Deluxe-Candle

I had a good sniff of the beautiful Roasted Chestnut Candle, and it just smells like Christmas. This is definitely top of my wish list!

JML-Lifestyle_Advent-Calendar-Open

And you may have seen the amazing Jo Malone Town House Advent Calendar featured in my Every Single Beauty Advent Calendar post. Yes it is pricey at £260, but you get a fantastic selection of miniature products for every day in December until the 24th, so I think it’s definitely worth it!

JML-Driver-with-boxes-1

And lastly, what about this guy? Jo Malone also offer a same-day delivery service for all your emergency give giving needs. (This is in London only though) So if you know someone that tends to leave buying presents till the last minute, Jo Malone should be able to save their bacon – in style, in the vintage Morris Minor van pictured, or a Jo Malone Vespa! Unfortunately I’m pretty sure this guy is just a model, but even so, what a fantastic service to offer!

I’ll have some more information about all of the gorgeous gifts coming up soon. In the mean time though I’d love to hear what you think – are you a Jo Malone fan?

The Weekly Top 5 #3

Posted on April 26, 2015

the weekly top 5 no 3

Hi Guys!

It’s the end of another week already, and I can’t believe this is my third Weekly Top 5! This week I’ve been on a complete health kick, I’m feeling positive and focussed and I’ve been eating well and exercising ALL WEEK. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any weight come off yet, which is a bit disappointing, so I’m just assuming I’m putting on muscle! Here’s the run down of this week’s favourites –

Beautylab Instant Renewal Eye Complex (£28.00) – I’ve just started using this new eye cream from Beauty Lab with the hope that it will improve the general appearance of my eye area. It promises to lift and restore the delicate eye area, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkes. Luckily I don’t have any actual wrinkles as yet, but the fine lines are just starting to appear, as well as puffy eye bags which I’ve suffered from for a long time, so I’m hoping this product will tackle them too. It’s too early for results to show as yet, but time will tell!

NYX Butter Lip Glosses (£5.00) I have a few Butter Glosses which I’ve had for a while, but I’ve found myself reaching for the Apple Strudel shade quite a lot this week. It’s such a pretty spring peach that’s easy to wear and helps brighten the complexion. I love peaches and corals for spring so I’ll hopefully be featuring some more of these shades on the blog soon.

Years & Years. Since being lucky enough to get Saturday tickets to Radio One’s One Big Weekend in Norwich, I’ve been looking into which bands are playing. I’m so out of the loop with music at the moment I literally have no clue about who’s who, so I’ve been browsing youtube looking up all the acts so I at least have some sort of idea, and I’ve decided that Years & Years are officially my new favourite band! Check them out on Youtube, and you can also pre-order their album which is out in June.

Double Chocolate Virtue Bars (£8.99 per box) I’ve been really focussing on fitness and eating well this week and I have a few food bits from My Protien to help me on my way. I’ve been absolutely loving their Double Chocolate Virtue Bars, they’re basically a quick and convenient snack bar that’s high in protein and fibre and less than 95 calories per bar. It’s a great way to satisfy my chocolate craving without undoing the good work I’ve done so far.

Boujies Candle in Pink Pomelo (£16.00) – This sweet little candle arrived last week too, and I’ve been lighting it every day since. Boujies create 100% natural wax candles, blended with their unique blend of essential oils and fine fragrances. This one – Pink Pomelo is a clean and crisp citrus blend, described as ‘a sparkling and uplifting citrus fragrance with top notes of yuzu, grapefruit, sweet lemon and effervescent pink pomelo. Lifting from a bright floral heart of jasmine blossom, elderflower and muguet, gently resting on a musky base of amber infused with a twist of white tea’. This fragrance is light, bright and beautifully refreshing.

Five Things I’m Loving Right Now…

Posted on February 25, 2015

five-things

Hi Guys!

I was in two minds about waiting to put together an end of month favourites, or whether to share some things that I’m currently loving today – but I thought where’s the fun in waiting!? So I’ve put together five things I’ve been really loving lately…

Flamingo Candles Rose & Marshmallow scented candle – £12.00. I LOVE Flamingo Candles, after stocking up on their winter scents in the sale – and I still have a couple of those candles left – I was completely ready for some fresh new spring scents, and then Flamingo happen to announce their brand new Spring collection, perfect timing! There are six fresh new scents availing now ranging from Raspberry & Salted Caramel to Green Apples – and I have Rose & Marshmallow, which is a beautiful light and sweet scent. I can imagine it won’t last me very long!

Lime Crime Velvetine Liquid Lipstick in Cashmere. I’ve been a big fan of Lime Crime’s Velvetines since they were released many moons ago (You can see my very old review of Pink Velvet here) Cashmere happens to be the shade on everyone’s want list at the moment though, it’s kind of a beige with a hint of grey – greige maybe? Anyway, I thought it was either going to look awesome, or give me ‘dead’ lips. Either way I really wanted it and ended up paying over the odds on ebay as it’s constantly sold out. (Also, there have been quite a few problems with Lime Crime lately, you should read about the recent hacking scandal if you haven’t already) So I wouldn’t have bought from their site anyway. So, it turns out Cashmere is actually an awesome colour, it’s really unusual and didn’t give me dead lips after all! I’ll have a full post coming up on it shortly.

Benefit Roller Lash – £19.50. Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that Roller Lash is Benefit’s latest hyped up product to hit the shelves, and I told myself I wasn’t going to buy in to the hype. I said I WOULD NOT BUY IT. But then… my family were all poorly, and on the way back from taking Fred to the out of hours doctors we stopped at the supermarket and there it was, free with Elle magazine, I was weak and in need of a treat, so I bought it. And I’m actually really glad I did. This mascara is perfect for my super short lashes, in both the formula and the size / shape of the wand, yippee! (Elle, on the other hand, was quite a let down, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many adverts in one mag)

BD Trade Secrets Flawless Primer – £9.99. BD Trade Secrets is the brand new and re-vamped Barbara Daly range which is exclusive to Tesco. To be honest, ‘Barbara Daly’ wasn’t that appealing as a brand, but BD, along with the name has also had a formula re-vamp across the range. I’ve tried a few BD products out and so far and the stand out one for me has definitely been the Flawless Primer. It has a thick silicone gel type texture and does a fantastic job of ‘filling in’ my face and creating a super smooth makeup base.

And lastly, Pretty Honest By Sali Hughes – £14.96. I got this book for Christmas, and I’m sad to say that I’ve just been so busy, I haven’t had time to just sit down and read it properly. But the good thing about this book, is it’s super easy to pick up and read snippets and sections whenever you feel like it, which is exactly what I’ve been doing. Sali is just the most amazing beauty guru, there isn’t anything she doesn’t know and it’s all in this book. If you’re a makeup, skincare or general beauty fanatic like me, this is your bible and you need to purchase a copy now!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? Or what you’ve been loving lately?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Gift Idea – Penhaligon’s Samarkand Classic Candle

Posted on December 17, 2014

penhaligons-christmas-gifts

Hi Guys!

You know I love a good candle, and I’m a big fan of more niche scents and brands too, so today I’m really excited to let you know all about the newest addition to my collection – the Penhaligon’s Samarkand Classic Candle.

Penhaligon’s have been on my radar for a while but I hadn’t had the pleasure of trying out any of their products until now. I started reading on their site to learn a bit more about the company and the first thing that I read really struck me – We strive to create original scents for the discerning eccentrics of today.

This statement is just perfection to me! It’s pretty much my aim in life to be eccentric – I want to be a cross between Lord Bath, Russell Brand and Lady Gaga! Does that sound a bit odd? I hope so! 😀

I was going to throw in a few more quotes about Penhaligon’s, but if you’re interested, have a read here to learn more about the history behind the company, I’d definitely recommend it.

penhaligons-samarkand-candle

Anyway, onto the candle! The Samarkand candle is in fact the official scent of London Fashion Week for Spring / Summer 2015 which is rather exciting. The scent is described as an exotic oriental awash with sweet flowers, spices and wood, and it was inspired by the ancient city of Samarkand, one of the oldest cities in the world. The Samarkand fragrance combines clove, jasmine and lily on a warm base of sandalwood & vanilla, and it really is a beautiful scent. It’s also worth mentioning that Penhaligon’s luxurious hand blended candles are packed with essential oils, made with a naturally derived soy wax and also feature a cotton braided wick for a clean & smoke free burn.

I’m thrilled with the Samarkand candle, and now I can’t wait to try out some more Penhaligon’s products, I’ve got my eye on a few of their fragrances and bath oils next!

The Samarkand Classic Candle is £32.00, and the Brighton Collection Matches which are also pictured are £30.00.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried anything from Penhaligons? xxx
