What’s New at The Body Shop?

Posted on June 19, 2016

Hi Guys!

It seems like hardly a month goes by without a new collection being launched by The Body Shop – not that I’m complaining! Their latest products include wonderfully scented bath and body goodies to leave your skin smelling like a tropical summer holiday, as well as a matching fragrance and some fab makeup products too…

Years ago, upon returning from a trip to the French Polynesian islands, I brought back with me an incredible flower: the exotically iconic tiaré flower. I remember falling under a spell as soon as I smelled it – it was totally unique and rare. Since then I have wanted to create a facetted, sensuous but modern solar fragrance from this classic white flower. – Elise Benat, Perfumer.

Starting with the Pinita Colada collection – the Body Butter (£14.00) and Shower Gel (£5.00) smell simply divine! The Body Butter is a rich yet lightweight cream, perfect for intensely hydrating normal to dry skin. And the soap-free formula of the Shower Gel promises to refresh and revitalise skin with a deliciously tropical scent.

The Polynesian Island Tiare EDT (£18.00) is a beautiful summer scent, floral, warm and exotic, it’s perfect for both day to day wear as well as balmy summer evenings.

At the top, a sparkling dash of juicy orange enhances the warm solar accents of a bouquet of sun-loving flowers – exotic Polynesian Tiaré blossoms, frangipani blossom and ylang-ylang at heart, warmed with a sensuous blend of creamy coconut and addictive vanilla for a luscious island scent.

The Body Shop has also recently launched some new makeup items – the Instaglow Bright Glow CC Cream (£14.00) is one of three new CC creams, suitable for fair, medium and dark complexions. Bright Glow for lighter skin tones offers SPF20 protection, whilst minimising the appearance of pores, reducing shine and illuminating the complexion. It works really well for a natural no-makeup look, or as an illuminating foundation primer.

And the Honey Bronze Drops of Sun (£12.00) – the easy way to fake that sun-kisssed glow we all love to have in the summer. You just blend one drop into a small amount of your daily moisturiser or foundation to keep your tanned look topped up, or even if you fancy a ‘one day’ holiday glow. Its matte-shimmer free finish makes your tan look natural, and it’s commitment free too as it washes off with your makeup.

Though all these products are fantastic – as expected from The Body Shop. My favourite has to be the Polynesian Island Tiare Perfume. This scent is just gorgeous and yummy basically summer in a bottle – and not to mention a complete bargain at £18.00 for a 50ml bottle, or only £24.00 for a massive 100ml. You’d be a fool not to snap this up!

All products shown above are available now at The Body Shop.

L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Collection

Posted on April 7, 2015

Hi Guys!

I hope you had a lovely Easter and bank holiday? Back to the grindstone now hey! I’ve got the most gorgeous collection from L’Occitane to share with you today. I’m not overly familiar with L’Occitane products to be honest, so when these little beauties arrived in the post I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and try them out! This is the Pivoine Sublime Collection, meaning ‘Sublime Peony’.

After five years of research, L’OCCITANE have created an innovative line of perfecting skincare products suitable for all complexions. The Paeonia lactiflora – a species of peony historically used for it’s therapeutic properties – has been harnessed for it’s skin-perfecting properties, which L’Occitane have integrated into their patented Perfecting Peony Complex. Its aim is to hydrate the skin, correct uneven skin texture, act on pores and fine lines, and enhance the complexion.

The collection contains these naturally derived skin-perfecting ingredients –

  • Peony extract – Helps to correct skin-texture.
  • Hyaluronic acid – To intensely hydrate.
  • Horse chestnut extract – Gives skin a fresh glow and reduces the appearance of complexion irregularities.
  • Mineral-based pigments & interferential pearlisers – Reflects the light and adapts to all skin tones.
  • Natural powders – Have an instant smoothing effect; skin both looks and feels smoother.

And let’s take a look at the products…

First up we have the Skin Perfector (£38). This is an ultra light feeling serum that helps to visibly improve skin quality, giving your complexion a smooth and velvety soft feel, and leaving your skin even toned and luminous.

The Perfecting Cream (£32) has a patented formulation that contains an ‘intelligent’ texture agent with proven hydration-adjusting properties, meaning it can adapt it’s action the the climate and humidity levels – pretty clever hey? The cream feels luxurious yet supple, with a velvety finish. It also smells divine!

I’m in love the Skin Tone Perfecting CC Cream (£25). It’s formulated with the Perfecting Peony Complex, colour correcting pigments and pearly particles, which work together to perfect the skin and give a brighter and more even complexion. This is also a multi-use product, so whether you’re looking for an illuminating makeup base to use underneath your foundation, or for a more natural no-makeup look this can also be used on it’s own to add radiance to your complexion. The product itself is a silky white cream, which transforms on contact with the skin, giving a natural yet illuminated finish. If you suffer with a dull or lacklustre complexion I’d highly recommend you give this cream a go.

The Perfecting Mist (£14) is an ultra fine and delicate scented beauty mist that gives your skin an instant boost of refreshment. It’s alcohol free and aims to moisturise your complexion whilst leaving skin looking fresh and radiant. This can also be used to help your makeup last longer.

And lastly L’Occitane have included four Tinted Lip Balms (£12 each) into this collection. Enriched with Perfecting Peony Extract, the creamy balms glide onto lips with ease, to nourish, smooth, protect (SPF25) and give a subtle tint of colour. The fresh and natural shades are perfect to heighten the glow of a nude complexion.

I’m beyond impressed with all of these products, but my favourites are definitely the CC Cream for it’s brightening properties and the tinted lip balms which I’ve been using constantly over the last few days. I’d love to hear if you use L’Occitane products and if there’s anything you recommend I should try?

The New Beauty Brand You Need in Your Makeup Bag.

Posted on December 1, 2014

Hi Guys!

You may have seen my Glo & Ray Shimmer Shimmer Lip Colour Set review the other day, which I completely raved about. Now I have some more of their products to share with you. I’m beyond impressed with all of these products, especially considering the packaging and the price point. Read on to find out what I thought!

First up is the Mirage Mousse Eyeshadow in Tawny Dust (£11)

The revolutionary Multi Silky-Wax ComplexTM provides a seamlessly silky texture. A simple touch creates a misty mirage effect with a hint of shimmer.

I’ve never tried a mousse eyeshadow before so I’m afraid I have nothing to compare this to! The closest I can think of is Maybelline’s Color Tattoo eyeshadows, but they are more of a cream, and this is a mousse! I can tell you though that it has a super silky and smooth texture that’s a dream to use. I’ve been applying this with my fingers and I’m totally in love with this Tawny Dust shade. The finish is sheer and sparkly and pretty, and it looks amazing on blue eyes!

Next is the Sky Breaker Lasting Silky Eyeliner in Golden Age (£5.50)

Extraordinary soft and smooth glide achieves the perfect eyeliner with just one single strike. Ultra-adhesion formula technology makes the shades rich and intense, especially suitable for dramatic eyelines. Waterproof and budgeproof formula technology makes the eyelines long lasting and smudge-free.

You know I’m a massive eyeliner fan, if I was stuck on a desert island it would be the one beauty product I took with me, and I have to say its likely it would be a Glo & Ray eyeliner. After trying this product out for a few days I really cannot fault it. It’s amazingly pigmented, and the shade I have gives a lovely shimmery finish. I had no problems with smudging or it moving over my face.

And lastly the Colour Correction Luminous Base Foundation in 20 (£15)

With the innovative Water in Smoothie Gel Emulsion System, this CC Foundation offers a velvety touch with long-wear perfection. Just a small amount can instantly create a flawless foundation. The Micro-Shine Particle disguises pores and naturally brightens the skintone. Designed with high performance, this CC Foundation covers blemishes and luminates the skin with porcelain-like glow.

This is a medium coverage foundation that does what it says on the tin. You don’t need much product to cover a full face and it definitely brightened my skin tone. The coverage lasted all day with no problems.

I also need to point out how amazing Glo & Ray’s packaging is. The eyeshadow and eyeliner are both boxed, the cardboard is matte black and has a premium feel that makes me think of NARS. I can’t tell you how impressed I am with all of these products, and when you look at the packaging and then see the prices, it really is amazing! £5.50 for a fantastic, premium boxed eyeliner!

Glo & Ray are fast becoming one of my favourite cosmetic brands, I’d highly recommend you try their products out!

I’d love to hear what you think?I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx
