Beauty: New Spring 2017 Lip Launches

Posted on March 29, 2017

Hi Guys!

There have been SO many new lip launches over the last few months, I really didn’t know where to start with them! So I decided in the end I’d just group everything together and talk you through them all. Some are pretty decent, some are really good, and a couple really are excellent. Let’s get stuck in!

Starting with the new Lord & Berry Timeless Kissproof Lipstick (£15.00 at HQ Hair) – now I must admit, Lord & Berry isn’t a brand that I’d usually gravitate towards, for no other reason than I’m just not overly familiar with their products. But I have to say their new Timeless Kiss Proof Lipsticks really are fantastic!

They have a lovely, creamy formula that contains a nourishing blend of Neem, Sesame and Indian Frankincense Essential Oils, making them super comfortable on the lips, whilst being incredibly pigmented with a transfer-resistant matte finish. I really was impressed with these and they’re definitely worth checking out. I have shades –

  • Brave Red – a true red
  • Pop Pink – an intense magenta
  • First Lady – a mid brown with gold sparkle

(I should just mention that I took my photos before the products had a chance to dry, so just letting you know they do dry down matte)

Next we have the Chantecaille Matte Chic Lipsticks (£33.00 at Space NK) – you probably won’t be surprised to hear these are the most expensive products in this round up. The Matte Chic lipsticks have a light, whipped texture that’s very similar to the new Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets. I love that they feel barely-there on the lips, whilst being moisturising and also long wearing. They’d make a great treat if you’re a fan of Chantecaille products. I have shades –

  • Jerry – a nude pink
  • Carmen – a true deep red

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, the Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick in Wild Strawberry (£17.50 at Selfridges) is perfect if you’re looking for a nourishing lip product with just a hint of colour. The formula contains mango and shea butters to keep lips feeling comfortably soft and smooth, and the Crayola theme is really fun and playful.

Back to liquid lipsticks now, the LA Splash Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks (£9.95 at Beauty Bay) have been a long time favourite of mine. I picked some up direct from LA Splash in the US a while ago now, and I was beyond impressed with how well they lasted on my lips.

Their Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick collection is inspired by desserts, and comes in a range of muted, neutral shades. The formula is full coverage, and completely transfer proof, and it’s also worth mentioning that you don’t want to apply this too thickly, as I’ve found it wears off the lips quicker if it’s applied too generously. I have shades –

  • Dark Mocha Mousse – a light warm brown.
  • Buttermilk Cheesecake – a natural nude with pink undertones.
  • Macaroon –  a deep rosy pink.

The Ciate London Pretty Stix Lipstick (£16.00 at Lookfantastic) is another new product that’s now a favourite of mine. This is more along the lines of a sheer lipstick, offering a moisturising formula which combines Brazilian Murumuru butter and Amino Acid to give the soothing and conditioning properties of a balm, combined with the pigmentation of a lipstick. I love that the Pretty Stix make my lips feel so smooth and moisturised. I’ve been wearing Vintage Blush quite a lot this week!

  • Vintage Blush – a light coral nude
  • Romcom – a bright magenta
  • Heartbreaker – a deep purple

Next we have the brand new Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks (£19.00 at Smashbox) – it’s been quite a while since I’ve used Smashbox products so I wasn’t too sure what to expect with these, but the Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks are some of the most highly pigmented lip products I’ve ever tried – I was so impressed!

They promise to stay put for up to 8 hours, and contain Advanced Polymer Technology and Primer Oil Complex to give a super smooth, intensely pigmented, budge-proof finish. I have shades –

  • Let’s Dance – a bright purple toned magenta
  • Shockaholic – a super bright magenta pink
  • Big Spender – an intense rose pink

For those looking for a budget product, I always recommend checking out Sleek Cosmetics. The Sleek Cosmetics Matte Lip Cream (£4.99 at Superdrug) is a great product for less than a fiver, and they’ve now brought out a selection of fun and bright pastel shades for spring. The formula isn’t the most pigmented in the world, but it’s decent enough to give good coverage with a couple of swipes, and it lasts for a good few hours before you need to think about touching up. Overall this is a great budget product. I have shades –

  • French Fancy – a pretty mid cool toned pink
  • Crushed Lavender – a light lavender purple
  • Apricot Blooms – a light coral-apricot

If you’re not a fan of liquid lipsticks, the new Makeup Forever Artist Acrylip Glosses (£17.50 at Debenhams) could be right up your street. Inspired by bold, high-pigment artist acrylic paints, the MUFE Artist Acrylips give lips the most intense, glossy color with just one swipe. I really love the smoothness of the formula, as well as the amazing pigmentation. I should reiterate that these are glosses and do not dry down or set in any way shape or form – but they also don’t move around the mouth at all which is great news. I have shades –

  • 202 Coral Pink – an intense petal pink
  • 400 Iconic Red – an intense true red
  • 600 Dark Purple – a deep aubergine purple

And the Pixi Beauty GelTint & SilkGloss (£14.00 at ASOS) – Pixi is one of my favourite beauty brands, and I love that their products are always so interesting and innovative. This double ended tint and gloss is just a fantastic idea that I’ve never seem before. One end contains a gel formula lip stain, and the other holds a glossy top coat.

And lastly, MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick (£17.50 at Selfridges) – this collection includes some really beautiful shades, and I was drawn to ‘So Me’ which has a real 90’s vibe about it. I’m not actually a fan of MAC’s original Retro Matte Lipsticks as I find them to be incredibly drying, so I was interested to see how the liquid version fared. Well I have to say I was impressed! As expected the formula was richly pigmented, but it was also pleasant to wear and lasted all day. I definitely want to pick up some more shades now!

I’d love to hear which lip products you’ve been loving lately?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: New Makeup Worth Checking Out – Feat. New CID Cosmetics, Chantecaille, Lancome & More

Posted on February 6, 2017

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! I’ve gathered a few products together today that I really think are worth checking out. There are a couple of brands such as New CID Cosmetics and Suqqu that I’ve included specifically today as you don’t really hear much about them, but the do make some fantastic products – enjoy!

Ok so starting with New CID Cosmetics, the New CID Cosmetics i-Gloss Light Up Lip Gloss (£19.50 at Feelunique) is such a fun product – I mean who could resist a lip gloss with an automatic light in the lid, and a mirror on the side? And this shade, Moonstone is such a beautiful pearlescent pink – it’s great as a gloss on its own, or also as a lip topper worn over a liquid lipstick.

The Limited Edition i-groom Eyebrow Grooming Pencil and Brush (£19.50 at Feelunique) is another great product, this is a sleek looking, simple yet effective wind up brow pencil, with a spoolie brush at the opposite end. It creates a fine, sharp line that’s perfect for drawing on natural looking brows, without looking too heavy.

And the i-Prime Mini (£16.00 at Feelunique) – this is a mini 10ml primer, perfect for keeping in your on-the-go makeup bag. The formula is a lightweight serum including Shea Butter and Vitamin E to help blur imperfections, leaving skin looking radiant and beautiful.

Next I have a few products from Rodial – firstly their new Baking Powder (£29.00 at Rodial) – this is is perfect for those that like to do a full on makeup routine and ‘bake’ their face to set their base. This is a silky smooth loose powder that mattifies skin to give it a creamy, suede soft-focus finish whilst blurring imperfections. Simply apply this loose setting powder over your concealer or foundation, leave to warm on skin for 10-15 minutes and dust off the excess – easy.

And Rodial have also introduced their new Baking Brush (£40.00 at Rodial) to go with the above powder. This brush has been specifically designed with soft, dense hairs to allow for easy application of loose powder. It’s also the ideal tool for buffing and dusting off excess powder so you can achieve a flawless matte finish to your complexion.

Rodial also have a new Instaglam Compact Deluxe Highlighting Powder in 02 (£52.00 at Rodial) – this is a beautiful creamy textured highlighting powder, in a light champagne shade. It contains soft powders and refined pearls which are blended together to create a beautiful creamy powder with an iridescent finish.

Continuing with highlighters, I also wanted to include the Estee Edit Flash Illuminator Fluid Powder (£22.00 at Selfridges) – this is very similar to the Rodial highlighter above but this one is slightly more gold / peach toned. It would be great for light to medium skin tones and has a lovely smooth almost creamy texture that’s really flattering when applied to the top of the cheekbones especially.

And for a more budget friendly highlighter option, the Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in Starlight (£9.99 at Boots) is definitely worth checking out. If you’re looking for a slightly deeper, more golden highlight, this stick formula has a wonderfully smooth consistency, and leaves the skin glowing with a golden sheen.

I also have a couple of the (fairly) new Lancome Cushion Blushers (£29.00 at Lancome) – these cushion blushers are perfect for giving the complexion a fresh, dewy glow. You only need a tiny amount to give a pretty flush to the skin, and the formula also offers intense hydration, and the cushion sponge allows you to easily build the intensity of the colour to suit your preference.

If you’re looking for a new eyeshadow palette, the Smith & Cult Book of Eyes Eyeshadow Palette (£34.00 at Beauty Bay) is one to add to your to-try list. There are four different quads available and I have Interlewd which contains some really pretty soft pinks and rich purple shades.

Or for single eyeshadows, the Chantecaille Mermaid Eyeshadow in Hematite (£29.00 at Space NK) is simply stunning. This is a crease-proof and water resistant product that can be worn either wet or dry and used an eye shadow or as an eyeliner. The formula is also infused with an anti-aging silk tree extract that helps lift the upper eyelid for a more youthful looking eye area.

And the Suqqu Extra Glow Lipstick (£23.00 at Selfridges) – Japanese cult brand Suqqu is another that you don’t see much of, but definitely worth a mention. Their Extra Glow Lipstick contains a blend of seven nourishing oils for long-lasting moisture, and creates the appearance of plumper lips with a natural sheen.

And going back to eyes, the Smith & Cult B-Line Eye Pen (£21.00 at Beauty Bay) is a richly pigmented, felt pen liner that’s both smudge-proof and waterproof. This innovative precision, felt tipped liner applies seamlessly along the lash-line giving highly pigmented colour with a quick drying finish. If you’re looking for a new pen style eyeliner I’d definitely recommend you check this one out.

For those looking to cover their dark circles, the Know Cosmetics No Dark Shadows Concealer in Wow (£15.00 at Superdrug) is just the product for the job. This is a multipurpose under eye concealer designed to conceal imperfections and dark circles, as well as highlight the complexion. This is available in two shades – Wow (rosy tone) and Pizazz (yellow tone) and offers medium coverage which is both long lasting and moisturising.

And back to Suqqu, their Gel Eyeliner (£20.00 at Selfridges) is a super thin 2mm precision tipped pencil eyeliner with a texture that seems to melt onto the skin, creating a wonderfully smooth and delicate line. This is perfect for those looking for a subtle and fine lined eyeliner.

You’ll probably notice I haven’t included many lip products today – when I was getting everything together I realised there are LOADS of amazing lip products that have recently launched, so I’ll be publishing a separate post just on them very soon.

I’d love to hear what you think? Have you tried any of these products yourself? I decided not to include swatches as I took some and they just weren’t doing the products justice. If you’d like to see swatches of anything though please do let me know and I’ll be happy to share on Insta Stories 🙂

Christmas: The Net-A-Porter Ultimate Beauty Kit

Posted on November 18, 2016

net-a-porter-ultimate-beauty-kit

Hi Guys!

I just happened to be browsing the Net-A-Porter site today and noticed this rather amazing set on sale. It’s not an advent calendar as such, in fact it’s much better as it contains 32 products rather than 24 or even 12.

The Ultimate Beauty Kit is described as an expertly curated set including 32 cult-favorite products covering makeup, skincare and hair, from top brands such as Hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury, Burberry Beauty, Sunday Riley and many more.

The kit contains 16 travel size and 16 full size products – now I don’t know about you but I think that’s pretty amazing really. When you look at the price of other luxury advent calendars, and consider that the majority of the products included are travel size, they make this looks like an amazing deal. I’m currently waiting on confirmation of which products are full size, and the size of the travel sized ones too, so as soon as I find out I’ll update the info below.

Here’s a list of everything that’s included – I’ve also added links to the individual products in case you want to look at them in more detail:

Ok so I’ve now got all the prices and details of which are the full sized products, and I’ve worked out that you’ve got about £574.98 worth of beauty goodness here. I mean how amazing is that!!

If you missed out on a luxury advent calendar this year, I’d definitely recommend checking this set out. You can purchase the Ultimate Beauty Kit for £150 now at Net-a-Porter.

new-in-beauty-products-worth-checking-out

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

loccitane-candle

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

clarins-lancome-pur

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

sleek

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

chantecaille-espa

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

loreal-french-girl-body-shop-tea-tree

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

soap-and-glory

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

erborian-w7-kiehls-new

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

Eight Gorgeous Beauty Products Perfect for Gifting

Posted on November 9, 2015

beauty-products-for-gifts

Hi Guys!

If you’re looking to give (or receive, ahem) some gorgeous beauty products this Christmas, I’ve put together a nice little selection today to hopefully inspire you. This little lot would definitely be on my Christmas list if I didn’t have them already!

I’ve tried to include a range of high and, luxury and just beautiful products to suit all beauty fans, focussing on eyes and lips – Enjoy xx

laura-mercier-eye-chromes-packaging

laura-mercier-eye-chromes-palette

First up I have the stunning limited edition Laura Mercier Eye Chromes Palette (£32.00)

What a beauty hey! Laura Mercier products are always gorgeous so there’s no surprise there. This palette contains four beautiful eyeshadow shades in Iced Nickel, Purple Chrome, Blue Steel and Aluminum Grey.

These gorgeous jewel colours would be perfect for anyone who loves a more intense statement eye. The shades shimmer in the light and have a a unique and innovative pigment emulsion which gives a stunning foil effect when applied dry. You can also apply them wet for a super intense high coverage metal chrome effect, with a soft velvety finish.

lipstick-queen-tom-ford-lipsticks

This Lipstick Queen lipstick is literally ‘lipstick heavean’ in every way. Just look at the casing! It’s packed full of shiny silver glitter, and it just says ‘Christmas!’ to me! Lipstick Queen All That Jazz collection (£24.00) contains four lipsticks with a silky, nourishing formula that gives a high shimmer molten metal finish. This shade is Paint The Town, a deep red with fuchsia pearls, and it’s just gorgeous.

I’m really loving darker red and mauve lip shades at the moment so I treated myself to this little Tom Ford beauty a few weeks ago. I’d been eyeing up the lipsticks on the Tom Ford counter for a while and finally thought I’d try a few out. I took the plunge and went for the Tom Ford Lip Colour in Moroccan Rouge (£38.00) – this is a beautiful deep plum with the slightest hint of shimmer. It’s wonderfully creamy and gives a lovely glossy finish.

zoeva-rose-gold-palette

And I had to include the beautiful, and not to mention affordable Zoeva Rose Golden Eyeshadow Palette (EUR17.50)

I picked this up with the Rose Gold 2 Brush Sets when they were first released as I was just drawn to the stunning warm shades. I can tell you they did not disappoint. The palette is large, with large round pans, and contains ten beautiful matte, metallic and satin shades.

Now I know this isn’t the most ‘wintery’ palette in the world, but it’s just so pretty, I think any beauty lover would be thrilled to open this on Christmas day!

chantecaille-compact

chantecaille-chrome-luxe-eye-duo

The Chantecaille Chrome Luxe Eye Duo (£48.00) is the perfect gift for any fan of luxury beauty.

I first became aware of Chantecaille a few years ago, when I treated myself to the Chantecaille Le Palette d’Olivia which cost me a pretty penny, but I didn’t mind because the quality was fantastic. Then pretty much straight away I managed to knock it off my coffee table, and most of the pans smashed. We don’t talk about that day…

Anyway, this sweet little Chantecaille duo is the perfect mini set to add to your makeup bag, it comes housed in high shine metallic gunmetal grey casing, with an internal mirror and two mini applicators. There are four different limited edition colour combinations to choose from, and I have Monte Carlo, which includes a pretty peachy pink and a warm mid brown shade. Both shadows have shimmer and offer a long wearing silky smooth stay-put application with a satin finish.

lipstick-queen

And I have another Lipstick Queen product for you, if you’re a fan of glosses this could be the perfect product for you – the Lipstick Queen Seven Deadly Sins Gloss (£22.00)

The new Seven Deadly Sins collection contains seven intense gloss shades that are super lightweight whilst being full of pigment. I have Anger, a bright fiery red-coral shade – it’s perfect for a glossy statement lip! The texture is super silky with no stickiness, and the formula is enriched with Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Moadowfoam for comfort and to help condition the lips.

eye-products

And lastly, I’ve included a couple of fantastic lash products – Lancome Hypnose Volume A Porter Mascara (£22.50) and Shiseido Full Lash Serum (£35.00)

I’ve been using this lash serum for a little while now and I really do think it’s starting to improve my lashes. Just a bit of background info here, my lashes are super short, and fine, and straight, and just everything you don’t want your lashes to be. So if a product promises to help lengthen and volumise, then I want to try it! Shiseido’s Full Lash Serum is formulated with natural ingredients to stimulate the growth of hair follicle cells, whilst conditioning the hair to retain moisture, and restoring damaged or snapped lashes caused by mascara use. Fingers crossed I’ll have full fluttery lashes in no time!

And Lancome’s Hypnose Volume A Porter Mascara really does everything it’s supposed to, giving instant volume with a no flake formula. This is easily one of the best mascaras I’ve used recently. I use two or three coats to give volume, and I love that it doesn’t clump or feel heavy, and you can build it up as much you wish. This definitely gets top marks from me!
