Beauty: Liz Earle Skincare on Trial

Posted on July 10, 2017

Hi Guys!

I’ve been trying out a few products from Liz Earle over the last couple of weeks, and wanted to give you the low down today and let you know how I’ve been getting on with them. My skin is pretty dry and can often be sensitive, which means I have to be a bit careful when it comes to trying out new skincare products – if you have sensitive skin you’ll know what I mean! I’ve been trying out a new limited edition Cleanse & Polish, a Moisturiser for sensitive skin, and a few other skincare products. Read on to find out my thoughts…

Starting with the Cleanse & Polish Grapefruit & Patchouli (£22.75 for 150ml including 2x cotton cloths) – Liz Earle’s classic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser has been revamped into a fab limited edition for summer 2017. This new Grapefruit & Patchouli version is just the same as the original in terms of formula, but this is fragranced with an invigorating blend of zesty grapefruit and woody patchouli essential oils.

If you’re not familiar with Cleanse & Polish, this cult product is a thick, rich cream that does a fantastic job of removing dirt, grease and makeup from the skin, leaving your complexion feeling fresh and clean. It’s actually been quite a few years since I last use the original Cleanse & Polish, so I was looking forward to trying out this new scented version. Firstly, I have to say it smells heavenly! And after massaging into the skin, it really does deep cleanse and remove all traces of makeup, as well as lightly exfoliating – leaving skin feeling fresh, clear and bright.

The Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer (£14.75) is up next. This toner has a light floral fragrance, and contains naturally active ingredients including Aloe Vera to revitalise and soften and Calendula, Chamomile, Cucumber and Vitamin E to soothe and refresh the skin. You can use it directly after the Cleanse & Polish to soothe the skin, or just spritz over both face and body and time of day to refresh and revitalize.

I’ve also been trying the Superskin Moisturiser (£39.00 for 50ml) – I went with the unfragranced version for sensitive skin, which contains Cranberry, Borage and Rosehip Seed oils. I’ve been using this after the above Skin Tonic Toner, massaging into my face and neck, and I have to say my skin has been feeling fantastic!

Liz Earle have advised for optimal results to follow the specific facial massage techniques below. This should help clear toxins, reduce puffiness, boost circulation and aid lymphatic drainage:

Step 1: Apply to face with upward and outward movements using firm pressure.

Step 2: With your fingertips, lightly smooth in an outward circular direction along the cheekbones to above the eyebrows.

Step 3: Using the thumb and ring finger, gently pinch along the brow bone from the nose to the outer edge of the brow.

Step 4: Finish by gently sweeping your hands up the neck and over the décolletage.

For the body, I have the SuperSkin Dry Body Oil (£35.00 for 100ml) – I’m a big fan of skin oils, so this fast absorbing dry body oil sounded right up my street! The SuperSkin Dry Body Oil has been formulated with Liz Earle’s botanical blend of Cranberry, Borage and Rosehip Seed oils to visibly smooth, nourish and revitalise the skin. The oil itself if super lightweight, and I find it works well right after showering. It absorbs really quickly, leaving the skin feeling soft, supple and lightly scented.

And lastly the Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion (from £7.50 for 50ml) – as someone that suffers daily with dry, puffy and tired eyes, I was most excited about trying this product. The Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion promises to instantly revitalise and refresh tired and puffy eyes, and it contains Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera and Cornflower to cool and soothe the delicate eye area.

I have to say I was expecting a creamy lotion, but the formula is actually very thin and wet – just like water. You simply need to apply some product to a cotton wool pad (how much you use is up to you) and sweep lightly over the eyelids – or you can also soak two pads in the product and leave on for up to 10 minutes, for a revitalising, soothing compress.

I’ve used this a few times now, and it really does feel lovely and refreshing on the eye area – I’ve also found that keeping the bottle in the fridge works wonders as the liquid feels extra cool and soothing when you apply it. If you suffer from puffy eyes like I do, this is definitely one to try.

Overall I’m really impressed with all the products I’ve been trying out – the new limited edition Cleanse & Polish is a lovely revamp of a classic product, the SuperSkin Unscented Moisturiser is a fantastic every day moisturiser for sensitive skin especially, and the EyeBright Lotion really did work wonders to relieve my tired eyes.

I’d love to hear which Liz Earle products you use and enjoy? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

The Erborian Detox Collection – A Must for Sensitive Skin

Posted on February 2, 2016

Erborian-Detox-Collection

Hi Guys!

Those of you that have sensitive skin will know what a complete pain it can be. I have insanely awkward skin – awkward in the sense that mostly it’s completely fine, then I’ll have a reaction to something completely out of the blue. It’s pretty frustrating as I never know which products are going to disagree with me.

One of my main problems with having both dry and sensitive skin, is exfoliation. Most products seem to be way too harsh for my delicate complexion – even ones that are specifically marketed as non-harsh or irritating. So finding a way to suitably exfoliate my face without upsetting my skin has been a bit of an ongoing mission for me, until I recently discovered these products by Erborian.

erborian-solid-cleansing-oil

The products I have are from Erborian’s 1-2-3 Detox Ritual: Inspired by the Korean triple cleansing technique to reveal healthy and radiant skin.

So I’ve started using their Solid Cleansing Oil 2-In-1 Make-Up Remover And Face Cleanser Balm (£29.00) – based on the Korean double cleansing method, the Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil combines the performance of a cleansing oil with the gentleness of a cream. This product has a thick, balmy texture which transforms into an oil upon contact with the warmth of the skin, to help dissolve impurities on the face. When rinsing, it transforms again into a silky lotion, to cleanse skin perfectly and leave behind a protective film. As well as cleansing my skin and removing makeup, this product leaves my complexion feeling fresh and nourished with no tightness at all.

erborian-Double-Mousse-Cleansing-Foam-&-Pore-Treatment

And their Double Mousse Cleansing Foam & Pore Treatment (£22.00) is also fantastic. I was expecting this to feel like a shaving cream foam, but it has more of a light bubbly foam texture, with a lovely light and fresh, almost herby scent. This product gently cleanses the skin to help eliminate impurities, whilst visibly refining skin’s texture for a flawlessly smooth effect. Erborian says ‘Skin is visibly softer, more supple and more luminous.’ and I would definitely agree.

The instructions advise you to apply two pumps, leave on the face for 30 seconds, then rinse with water, I have been doing this but I’ve also been massaging the product in with the Natural Konjac Sponge…

The first image above is the sponge as you receive it out of the packet. It’s bumpy and hard, you then dip it in water for 3 minutes and as it soaks the water up, it ‘fills out’ and ends up in a half sphere shape as above.

When wet, the texture of the sponge is soft, yet has enough roughness to it to effectively exfoliate the skin without irritation. It also helps to stimulate microcirculation as it massages over the skin. I’ve used this a few times now with the above products and my skin is absolutely loving it. The cleansers do a fantastic job of removing makeup as well as making my skin feel squeaky clean, and the Konjac sponge is working fantastically well as a light exfoliator, I’ve only used these a few times so far and my complexion is looking better already!

All the above products are available now from Erborian.

Introducing ARK Skincare: The Age Maintain Range

Posted on March 23, 2015

ark-age-maintain-skincare

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! The sun is shining and I’m super excited that the lovely guys at ARK skincare have sent me a bundle of their gorgeous products to try out. I have most of the products from the Age Maintain range, which is aimed at those in their mid 30’s up to age 50. I’m coming up 31 in June but was advised that due to my skin being on the dry side, I’d benefit more from this range than the Age Prepare range which is aimed at those with oilier skins from teens to early 30’s.

The Age Maintain range targets skin that’s starting to show signs of ageing, such a fine lines, wrinkles and sensitivity. As much as I don’t want to admit it, I am starting to get fine lines around my eyes – and I know they’re only going to get worse! And my skin has always been on the sensitive side, so I’m hoping this range of products will work really well for my skin!

So lets take a look at the products –

Replenishing Moisturiser (£27) – This is ARK’s best selling anti-wrinkle treatment moisturiser. With Co-enzyme Q10, it’s packed with natural moisturising agents including Shea Butter and Olive Oil. It also contains clinically proven anti-ageing peptides, including Matrixyl, to smoothes out wrinkles, plump and tones the skin, and diminish signs of premature ageing.

Soothing Masque (£26) – This is a calming face mask for stressed and irritated skin. It helps to reduce the appearance of redness associated with dryness, and diminish the look of wrinkles. With an encapsulated blend of Vitamin A, C, E and F, it promotes skin firmness and elasticity.

Conditioning Cleanser (£24) – This is an ultra-nourishing cleanser that helps with skin’s natural exfoliation for a clear, radiant complexion. It removes make-up and excess sebum to leave skin exquisitely clean, plump and supple. This cleanser is perfect for sensitive skins as the natural ingredients soothe redness and inflammation too.

Renewing Exfoliator (£29) – This is a gentle, granule-free exfoliating mask that safely removes dead cells from the skin’s surface using Multifruit Acids. This super-smoothing skin saviour diminishes rough, flaky skin to promote a younger looking complexion.

De-Stress SkinResponse Serum (£42) – This soothing DeStress Serum reduces the visible signs of skin stress, diminishing the look of fatigue, slackness and loss of vitality. Created with a herbal complex, this anti-irritant serum calms redness and boosts hydration for beautiful, healthy skin.

I’m so excited now to get stuck in with these products, I feel like I’m completely kitted out so I can work on getting my skin to it’s best condition yet! I’m going to be giving these products a long term trial over the next couple of months, with updates along the way – so I can find out if they really work. Keep your eyes peeled for my first update in the next couple of weeks!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried ARK Skincare products before? xx

NEW Magnitone Lucid Cleansing Brush | Review

Posted on September 5, 2014

magnitone-lucid-review

Hi Guys!

I’ve recently been trying out one of the best skincare products (devices?) I’ve used in a long time, the Magnitone Lucid. If you haven’t heard of Magnitone, they offer the Pulsar and the Lucid, both are deep cleansing and exfoliating facial brushes, with the Lucid being Pulsar’s more fashionable, lightweight and travel friendly little sister!

The Lucid comes in a range of bright colours, it’s ergonomic, easy to use and light weight. I can’t compare it to the Pulsar as I don’t have this one but I can tell you the Lucid does everything it says on the tin! The Lucid is small enough to slip into your holiday washbag, it comes equipped with the exclusive Magnitone Active Clean brush head, has a choice of two skin settings (deep clean and sensitive), also a daily facial cleansing timer, which times 20 seconds for each facial ‘zone’, plus a handy wireless travel charger. Oh and did I mention it’s waterproof so you can use it in the shower too? Handy!

It really couldn’t be easier to use, after charging I applied one of my regular cleansers which happened to be Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish to my face, and simply dipped the Lucid in hot water and massaged it over my skin. I was slightly concerned initially that the bristles might upset my dry and sensitive skin, but I needn’t have worried, the bristles were soft – but not too soft – and flexible, making the experience very comfortable and not abrasive at all.

After rinsing my face it was slightly redder than usual but my skin felt completely fine and probably the cleanest it’s ever felt! After using this the first time I decided to double cleanse from then on, meaning I removed the majority of my makeup with a wipe before cleansing with the Lucid, I found this much quicker and easier than putting it straight on a face full of makeup!

As recommended by Magnitone I tried their #7daychallenge where I used the Lucid every day for seven days. By the end of the week I could really see the difference with my skin, as I already mentioned my skin really has never felt cleaner! My complexion was definitely more even and brighter, and my problem areas with dry skin were noticeably improved, this is definitely a winner all round for me!

The Magnitone Lucid is usually £69.99 but can currently be purchased from Lookfantastic for £49.99.

Have you tried the Magnitone Lucid? I’d love to hear your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed my review xx
