Beauty: New Spring 2017 Lip Launches

Posted on March 29, 2017

Hi Guys!

There have been SO many new lip launches over the last few months, I really didn’t know where to start with them! So I decided in the end I’d just group everything together and talk you through them all. Some are pretty decent, some are really good, and a couple really are excellent. Let’s get stuck in!

Starting with the new Lord & Berry Timeless Kissproof Lipstick (£15.00 at HQ Hair) – now I must admit, Lord & Berry isn’t a brand that I’d usually gravitate towards, for no other reason than I’m just not overly familiar with their products. But I have to say their new Timeless Kiss Proof Lipsticks really are fantastic!

They have a lovely, creamy formula that contains a nourishing blend of Neem, Sesame and Indian Frankincense Essential Oils, making them super comfortable on the lips, whilst being incredibly pigmented with a transfer-resistant matte finish. I really was impressed with these and they’re definitely worth checking out. I have shades –

  • Brave Red – a true red
  • Pop Pink – an intense magenta
  • First Lady – a mid brown with gold sparkle

(I should just mention that I took my photos before the products had a chance to dry, so just letting you know they do dry down matte)

Next we have the Chantecaille Matte Chic Lipsticks (£33.00 at Space NK) – you probably won’t be surprised to hear these are the most expensive products in this round up. The Matte Chic lipsticks have a light, whipped texture that’s very similar to the new Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets. I love that they feel barely-there on the lips, whilst being moisturising and also long wearing. They’d make a great treat if you’re a fan of Chantecaille products. I have shades –

  • Jerry – a nude pink
  • Carmen – a true deep red

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, the Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick in Wild Strawberry (£17.50 at Selfridges) is perfect if you’re looking for a nourishing lip product with just a hint of colour. The formula contains mango and shea butters to keep lips feeling comfortably soft and smooth, and the Crayola theme is really fun and playful.

Back to liquid lipsticks now, the LA Splash Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks (£9.95 at Beauty Bay) have been a long time favourite of mine. I picked some up direct from LA Splash in the US a while ago now, and I was beyond impressed with how well they lasted on my lips.

Their Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick collection is inspired by desserts, and comes in a range of muted, neutral shades. The formula is full coverage, and completely transfer proof, and it’s also worth mentioning that you don’t want to apply this too thickly, as I’ve found it wears off the lips quicker if it’s applied too generously. I have shades –

  • Dark Mocha Mousse – a light warm brown.
  • Buttermilk Cheesecake – a natural nude with pink undertones.
  • Macaroon –  a deep rosy pink.

The Ciate London Pretty Stix Lipstick (£16.00 at Lookfantastic) is another new product that’s now a favourite of mine. This is more along the lines of a sheer lipstick, offering a moisturising formula which combines Brazilian Murumuru butter and Amino Acid to give the soothing and conditioning properties of a balm, combined with the pigmentation of a lipstick. I love that the Pretty Stix make my lips feel so smooth and moisturised. I’ve been wearing Vintage Blush quite a lot this week!

  • Vintage Blush – a light coral nude
  • Romcom – a bright magenta
  • Heartbreaker – a deep purple

Next we have the brand new Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks (£19.00 at Smashbox) – it’s been quite a while since I’ve used Smashbox products so I wasn’t too sure what to expect with these, but the Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks are some of the most highly pigmented lip products I’ve ever tried – I was so impressed!

They promise to stay put for up to 8 hours, and contain Advanced Polymer Technology and Primer Oil Complex to give a super smooth, intensely pigmented, budge-proof finish. I have shades –

  • Let’s Dance – a bright purple toned magenta
  • Shockaholic – a super bright magenta pink
  • Big Spender – an intense rose pink

For those looking for a budget product, I always recommend checking out Sleek Cosmetics. The Sleek Cosmetics Matte Lip Cream (£4.99 at Superdrug) is a great product for less than a fiver, and they’ve now brought out a selection of fun and bright pastel shades for spring. The formula isn’t the most pigmented in the world, but it’s decent enough to give good coverage with a couple of swipes, and it lasts for a good few hours before you need to think about touching up. Overall this is a great budget product. I have shades –

  • French Fancy – a pretty mid cool toned pink
  • Crushed Lavender – a light lavender purple
  • Apricot Blooms – a light coral-apricot

If you’re not a fan of liquid lipsticks, the new Makeup Forever Artist Acrylip Glosses (£17.50 at Debenhams) could be right up your street. Inspired by bold, high-pigment artist acrylic paints, the MUFE Artist Acrylips give lips the most intense, glossy color with just one swipe. I really love the smoothness of the formula, as well as the amazing pigmentation. I should reiterate that these are glosses and do not dry down or set in any way shape or form – but they also don’t move around the mouth at all which is great news. I have shades –

  • 202 Coral Pink – an intense petal pink
  • 400 Iconic Red – an intense true red
  • 600 Dark Purple – a deep aubergine purple

And the Pixi Beauty GelTint & SilkGloss (£14.00 at ASOS) – Pixi is one of my favourite beauty brands, and I love that their products are always so interesting and innovative. This double ended tint and gloss is just a fantastic idea that I’ve never seem before. One end contains a gel formula lip stain, and the other holds a glossy top coat.

And lastly, MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick (£17.50 at Selfridges) – this collection includes some really beautiful shades, and I was drawn to ‘So Me’ which has a real 90’s vibe about it. I’m not actually a fan of MAC’s original Retro Matte Lipsticks as I find them to be incredibly drying, so I was interested to see how the liquid version fared. Well I have to say I was impressed! As expected the formula was richly pigmented, but it was also pleasant to wear and lasted all day. I definitely want to pick up some more shades now!

I’d love to hear which lip products you’ve been loving lately?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

New For Spring: Clinique Pop Artistry Collection

Posted on April 22, 2016

clinique-pop-artistry-collection

Hi Guys!

Happy Friday 🙂 I have some gorgeous products from Clinique’s latest Pop Artisty collection to share with you today – Pop Artistry is all about pops of colour for eyes, lips and cheeks, including new Pop Lacquers, Glazes, Oils and Eye Shadows. The newest lip additions to the Clinique Pop collection range from pretty pops of sheer colour to full coverage and high shine, creating endless ways to make lips pop!

clinique-pop-artistry-collection-review

Left to right –

  • Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer in 09 Nude Pop
  • Pop Lip Colour + Primer Rouge Intense in 02 Bare Pop
  • Pop Lip Colour + Primer Rouge Intense in 01 Nude Pop
  • Pop Lip Colour + Primer Rouge Intense in 04 Beige Pop
  • Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in 07 Sugar Plum Pop

You can see there are three different types of lip product here – a gloss, a lipstick, and a sheer lipstick. Starting with the gloss – the Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer (£16.00) – this is a wonderfully thick lacquer with high intensity colour. I love that it moisturises lips leaving them feeling silky smooth, without any stickiness whatsoever. This product comes in 10 shades from creamy nudes to bold red, sweetheart pink and deep purple.

The Pop Lip Colour + Primer (£16.00) includes a massive selection of 24 shades, again ranging from nudes to more intense pinks and reds. The Pop Lip Colour + Primer lipsticks have a beautiful lightweight formula that applies easily with one sweep, leaving bold colour with a velvet finish. Clinique promise this product will keep lips comfortably moisturised for up to 8 hours – I haven’t worn them for that long myself but they definitely make my lips feel supple and moisturised, which is always a winner if you’re prone to dry lips like I am.

And the Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer (£16.00) – this is basically a sheerer version of the above Pop Lip Colours. Perfect for those looking for a touch of colour that isn’t too intense, the formula contains Shea and Murumuru butters to provide superior moisture, and a combination of emollient oils to provide shine, slip and cushion. Inspired by candy, this lineup includes six pretty shades that give a beautiful shine and sheer colour payoff.

And lastly, the simply stunning Lid Pop in 08 Petal Pop (£15.00) – the Lid Pop collection includes a range of eight nude to bold coloured eye shadows with a silky, long-wearing formula, designed to deliver an instant pop of colour. I’m completely in love with 08 Petal Pop, apart from the beautiful almost iridescent peachy sheen this gives, the formula is wonderfully buttery as well as luxuriously lightweight and silky smooth to the touch. This eyeshadow applies like a dream, and this particular shade would also be perfect as a highlighter too.

Overall I’m beyond impressed with these products, I may have to snap up a couple more of the eyeshadows I think!

House of Fraser have very kindly sent me a few of these gorgeous products to try out. I’ve given a brief overview of them below, and full reviews will be coming up shortly –

YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint in BD10 – You can probably guess this by the name, but YSL have taken the technology used in their cult Touche Eclat highlighter, and incorporated it into their latest foundation. The lightweight fluid of Touche Eclat Le Teint aims to illuminate the complexion with its magic light infused formula, whilst erasing imperfections, leaving skin looking natural, radiant and perfected.

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch in Shade 1 Rose lumiere – Would you believe it if I said touché Eclat has been around for 20 years now? Twenty years!! Most of you will know what Touche Eclat is, so I’ll only touch on this one briefly (See what I did there?) This is the gold clicky pen of dreams, is brightens, highlights, and adds luminosity to your complexion – definitely a must have!

NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint Foundation in shade Groenland – This is a rather fabulous sounding oil-free matte foundation which offers SPF30 protection with a soft velvet-matte finish. The formula contains NARS’ innovative Velvet Illusion Complex to instantly transform the look of skin, creating an immediate soft-focus effect that helps to blur imperfections and minimise the look of pores.

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream 15ml – This sounds exactly what I could do with right now, a cream to ‘pep up’ my ever puffy and dark-circled eye area. You just use twice a day to hydrate, brighten, and generally perk up your under-eyes, leaving you feeling refreshed, and looking wide awake.

Estee Lauder Revitalising Supreme Global Anti-Aging Cream – This is a high-performance and multi-action creme to help significantly reduce the appearance of the signs of ageing, including lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dullness and dehydration. This products aims to instantly give skin a smoother, clearer, more radiant appearance.

Kiehl’s Turmeric and Cranberry Seed Energizing Masque – This is an invigorating, energising and exfoliating mask, perfect for targeting a dull and fatigued complexion, giving skin a natural and healthy appearance – I really think I’m going to love this! It’s formulated with cranberry & turmeric to even the skin tone, while crushed cranberry seeds gently exfoliate for smoother, brighter, illuminated-looking skin.

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? Or if you’re hoping to pick any up in the Beauty Event?

The Best Luxury Beauty Stocking Fillers

Posted on December 7, 2015

luxury-beauty-stocking-fillers

Hi Guys!

If you saw my Budget Beauty Stocking Fillers post a couple of days ago, you’ll know I’d been planning to follow up with a luxury version of this post 🙂 You’ll probably know by now that I’m a complete sucker for high end beauty products, I’m just drawn to anything with beautiful or eye catching packaging like a magpie! So I’ve gathered together some of the best of the more expensive beauty goodies I have, that I think any beauty lover would be thrilled to find in their stocking this Christmas…

Lancome-La-vie-est-belle

Lancome La Vie Est Belle Intense EDP (£69.00) – This is Lancome’s latest version of their much loved original La Vie Est Belle fragrance. La Vie Est Belle EDP Intense includes tuberose and gourmand notes to add depth and intensity to the scent. This was music to my ears as I love tuberose, and I’m usually a fan of ‘intense’ versions of fragrance – and I love this!

The theme of La Vie Est Belle is beauty, joy, and happiness, and I think this definitely comes through in the beautifully sweet fragrance. It’s fruity, creamy and definitely intense – if you’re a fan of sweet perfumes such as Viktor & Rolf’s BonBon, this is a must have for your fragrance wardrobe.

lancome-guerlain-nars

Guerlain Gloss D`Enfer Intense Colour & Shine Sensation (£23.00) – Firstly I must apologise for my photo. The Gloss d`Enfer Intense Colour & Shine Sensation is the most beautiful sparkly gloss I’ve probably ever seen, and no matter how I tried, I just couldn’t capture this for you.

Guerlain’s Limited Edition Maxi Shine Reflects Etoilés makes your lips sparkle like there’s no tomorrow. It’s described as a top coat, but it also looks amazing on it’s own. It has a clear non-sticky base that’s full of multi coloured glitter particles!

Lancome Lancome Vernis In Love – 425 Rouge Midnight (£13.50) – This polish really is everything you need for the perfect Christmas mani. It’s red, check, sparkly, check, and just gorgeous, check! Lancome have launched three new shades of Vernis In Love for Christmas ’15, and Rouge Midnight is the most beautifully glamorous deep red shade, packed full of gold and red micro glitter.

NARS Rouge A Levres Lipstick (£20.00) – NARS lipsticks are just fantastic, I own quite a few of them now in varying shades and I’ve never been disappointed with a purchase. I highly recommend their Semi Matte and Audacious ranges. They come in a massive range of shades too, so there will definitely be something to suit everyone.

Guerlain-Terracotta-Joli-Teint-Natural-Healthy-Glow-Powder-Duo

Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder (£35.50) – I have a special relationship with Guerlain, this brand was my first ever high end beauty purchase way back when (around 2005 I think) it was a Divinora Eyeshadow palette, it was beautiful, and I fell in love with the brand instantly.

Guerlain’s Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder Duo is the perfect compact to give your complexion a healthy glow this winter. It comprises of a softened sun-kissed powder, lighter than the legendary Terracotta bronzing powder. Its pigments are less intense and works with the skin to make it glow without overloading it. And there’s also a coloured shade that blends with the sun-kissed powder to deliver a beautiful burst of radiance to the skin.

alaia-fragrance

ALAIA Alaïa Paris Eau De Parfum 50ml (£62.00) – The first fragrance from Alaïa, Alaïa Paris EDP is a stunning evening fragrance. Azzedine Alaia wanted to create a fragrance akin to ‘the smell of cold water falling on hot chalk’, and funnily enough I do actually pick that up from this fragrance. There’s a distinct freshness, with aquatic mineral notes, but there’s also the warming depth of musk, making this a rather unusual yet beautiful scent. Alaia Paris EDP has fresh and airy top notes of pink pepper, floral heart notes of freesia and peony, and animal base notes of musk.

luxury-stocking-fillers

Diptyque Liquidabmbar Scented Candle (From £28.00) – Diptyque has introduced three new limited edition candles to light up the holiday season, and this years’ limited edition trio is dedicated to the olfactory attributes of trees.

Liquidambar is in fact a North American tree, and it’s name originates from the aromatic resin that seeps from the tree. The Liquidambar scented candle smells deliciously warm and intense. It embraces the redness of this large autumnal tree, with enveloping liquid amber, spiced nutmeg and cinnamon sand, cloaked in the scent of brown sugar, providing a sweet and warm veil of gourmand accents. I’ll be featuring this candle more closely in an upcoming post too!

Benefit Feelin’ Dandy Perk Me Up Lip And Cheek Kit (£25.50) – I love Benefit’s makeup sets, they look amazing and make perfect Christmas gifts! The pocket size Feelin Dandy lip and cheek set includes an iconic tint, award-winning cheek color, luscious lip gloss and beautiful highlighter so you can add a pop of colour to your look this season. The set includes:

  • Posietint – Poppy-pink tinted lip & cheek stain
  • High Beam – luminescent complexion enhancer
  • Dandelion – brightening face powder
  • Ultra Plush Dandelion Lip Gloss

urban-decay-eyeshadows-and-nars-brush

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow (£14.00) – These eyeshadows are just so gorgeous, you couldn’t actually ask for more sparkle! I have shades Ether (top) and Scorpio (bottom). Ether is a stunning lavender shade packed full of lavender and teal micro glitter particles, and Ether is an intense deep khaki green shade, with golden / green glitter sparkles. These can be used wet or dry, and there are 11 high shimmer shades to choose from in the collection.

NARS #23 Wet / Dry Blush Brush (£31.00) – NARS makeup brushes really are where it’s at, and this beautiful #23 Wet / Dry Blush brush would make a fantastic addition to any makeup lovers collection. Designed for versatility, featuring a compact, domed nylon brush head for perfectly applying and blending product either wet or dry. This brush is beautifully weighted, so it feel fantastic to hold, and just oozes quality.

clinique-chubby-sticks

Clinique Chubby, Chubbier, Chubbiest Collection (£17.00) – This sweet little gift box contains three of Clinique’s top selling products – the Chubby Stick! Perfect for those that want to try Chubby Sticks for the first time but aren’t sure which to go for, this set contains formulas from sheer to intense, filled with good-for-skin ingredients and no fragrance at all. The set contains –

  • Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Super Strawberry 1.2g
  • Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Mightiest Maraschino 1.2g
  • Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in Budding Blossom 1.2g

New in from Clinique – What’s Your Line?

Posted on September 30, 2015

clinique-whats-your-line-collection

Hi Guys!

Now you know I’m all about the eye makeup. So when I heard about Clinique’s new (or actually, not quite so new now) What’s Your Line? range, I had to find out what all the fuss was about.

What’s Your Line? is a new collection of eye products, including the fantastic new Skinny Stick – a super slimline eyeliner pencil, a Pretty Easy Eyeliner pen, and a Chubby Lash Mascara.

clinique-whats-your-line-products

clinique-chubby-lash-mascara

Ok, so let’s take a look at the Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara £17.50.

This is a super chunkily packaged mascara – to fit with the ever popular ‘Chubby’ theme which we all know and love Clinique for. The brush on this mascara is rather curious though… it’s pretty large, yet has very short, densely packed bustles. My instant thought was I’m either going to love it or I’m going to hate it. I have short and fine eyelashes, so choosing a mascara that works well for me can often be problematic. Well I can happily say that I love this mascara! Though the wand is large, the short bristles mean I can easily coat my lashes with pretty much one application. I like to go as bold as I can when it comes to lashes though, so I find two coats works well. The formula is fantastic, as well as being really well pigmented. This definitely does the job for me!

clinique-pretty-easy-eyeliner

Next is the Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen £19.00.

This super fine eyeliner pen is perfect for creating precise, clean lines with one steady sweep. As far as liquid eyeliners go, I definitely prefer pens to brushes, as I find them a lot easier and quicker to work with. The ‘Pretty Easy’ eyeliner pen really does do what it says on the tin. The tapered nib has a super fine yet flexible point which works amazingly well when creating a beautiful cat-eye flick. The formula is also 24-hour smudge and budge-resistant. This is definitely one of the best eyeliner pens I’ve tried so far.

clinique-skinny-stick

Next is the Clinique Skinny Stick in Silver Black, £15.00.

Now I’m liking the look of this! This is easily one of the thinnest eyeliner pencils I’ve ever seen, in a twist up style so you don’t need to worry about breakage. If, like me, you can’t live without eyeliner, but you’d like a more natural look, the Skinny Stick is perfect for creating the finest line along the lash line, for a natural yet pretty no-makeup look. I have super fine and pretty sparse eyelashes, so this is wonderful for when I want a lighter look for day time. The colour Silver Black isn’t the darkest shade of black – which could either be a good or a bad thing depending how you look at it. But it is a really wearable shade, with tiny silver sparkles. There are also eleven more shades in the range, including a deeper black without any sparkle, so there should be a colour there to suit everyone.

clinique-Just-Browsing-Brush-On-Styling-Mousse

And lastly, I also have the Just Browsing Brush-On Styling Mousse £16.00.

Out of all of my facial features, I find my brows to be the most problematic when it comes to applying makeup. They always look wonky, or uneven or just not right in some way. This Just Browsing Brush On Styling Mousse – though the wrong colour for me – is fantastic for a brow novice like me. It tints, tames any stray hairs and fills in any sparse areas with a quick swipe of the brush. The mousse also has a 24 hour long wearing formula that’s resistant to smudging, sweating and humidity. So you don’t need to worry about your brows wearing off throughout the day!

Overall I’m really impressed with this collection of eye products. I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these?
