Cohorted July 2018 Beauty Box: Skin Chemists / Laura Geller / Nails Inc & More!

Posted on July 25, 2018

I’m so glad to be reviewing Cohorted’s boxes again, and July’s box really does look fantastic!

This months’ box contains quite a variety of products –

  • Anne Semonin Botanical Milk 40ml (worth £8.00)
  • Anne Semonin Botanical Toner 40ml (worth £8.00)
  • Nails Inc Mermaid Duo Nail Polish Set ( worth £15.00)
  • Skin Chemists Advanced Lip Plump (worth £96.90)
  • Laura Geller Beach Matte Baked Bronzer (worth £26.00)
  • Laura Geller Retractable Powder Brush (worth £12.00)
  • Vintage Cosmetics Powder Puff (worth £5.00)

Total value = £170.90

Ok so the main product here is the Skin Chemists Advanced Lip Plump – this is actually worth £96.90 which is crazy! It’s essentially a clear gloss designed to actively plump the lips, improving shape, texture and volume. It contains Volulip to improve the shape, texture and volume of the lips, whilst leaving them hydrated, and Corum 9230 which provides both warming and cooling sensations. Also, Peppermint Oil which gives a refreshing taste and plumping sensation upon application. This was nice as a gloss, it gave my lips a nice shine and a tingly sensation, and a slight plumping effect.

There are also a couple of mini products from Anne Semonin – The Botanical Milk is described as a light and absorbent cleanser, formulated with seaweed and hazelnut oil to help gently remove makeup, impurities and traces of pollution whilst maintaining the skin’s natural balance. And the Botanical Toner, which is a gentle antioxidant-rich toner, infused with naturally astringent witch hazel to help complete cleansing, reduce the appearance of pores, and balance and soothe the skin. These are really nice, no frills products that do just what they say.

Cohorted have also included Nails Inc Mermaid Duo Nail Polish Set. When I looked this up, the shades in this set appear very different to the ones I have. I have Strobe of Genuis and Queen Contour, which look to be two out of the three shades that make up the Living the Dream set – so I’m not sure what happened there! The colours are lovely though so I’m happy!

And there’s also a couple of gorgeous products from Laura Geller – the Beach Matte Baked Bronzer & Retractable Powder Brush. The Beach Matte Baked Hydrating Bronzer gives skin a sunkissed glow without any shimmer. It’s enriched with skin-conditioning ingredients, and applies and blends seamlessly. The Retractable Powder Brush is also a really handy product, it’s perfect for using with the Baked Bronzer for touch ups on on the go.

And lastly, there’s a Vintage Cosmetics Company Powder Puff – I’m not sure this is something I’d really reach for myself, as I pretty much only use brushes for applying powder. However it could come in handy for applying loose bronzers or shimmers to the body.

Cohorted boxes are £35.00 per month, and you can sign up here.

Cohorted Beauty Box June 18 / Doucce Beauty

Posted on June 25, 2018

It’s been a really long time since I’ve reviewed Cohorted’s monthly beauty boxes – but today Cohorted are back on the blog with their latest box for June 2018!

This particular box is brand specific, containing a selection of colour cosmetics from New York beauty brand, Doucce Cosmetics. Personally I hadn’t heard of Doucce before, so if like me you’re new to the brand, here’s a bit of background info –

Doucce was born in New York, and its name was inspired by the French word “douce”, meaning soft and elegant. Each one of Doucce’s innovative products embodies the underlying ethos of the brand’s name and ideals, by combining high fashion hues and contemporary packaging, to create the perfect combination of trendy and très chic.

The Cohorted X Doucce beauty box contains a selection of six Doucce products, valued at a total of £146.00. On first look, the products appear high quality, weighty and have an overall luxurious feel. Let’s take a closer look…

The Freematic Pro Palette (£50.00) is definitely the stand out product here. This palette has been designed specifically for Cohorted and contains a selection of face and eye colours. The Freematic palette itself is essentially an empty magnetic palette that’s specifically made to fit Doucce’s corresponding eyeshadows, blushers, bronzers and highlighters.

Cohorted’s Freematic Pro Palette includes one large highlighter pan in shade Ember, a light champagne shimmer, two medium blusher pans in 52 Delightful Peach, a light peach with a hint of shimmer, and 55 After Party, a muted matt pink. There are also four eyeshadows – shade 89 Gracie, a matte taupe grey, 58 Nadia, an intense bronze-gold shimmer, 77 Julia, a pink-bronze shimmer, and 86 Sophia, a muted matte Burgundy. All shades are soft and well pigmented, and I’d say the shimmers are more impressive than the mattes, but all are very nice to use and easy to blend.

The Fierce and Fine Graphic Pen is described as a deeply pigmented waterproof graphic pen that is both easy to use and creates precise, sharp lines. And I have to say I absolutely love this pen! The formula is inky black, dries down quickly and doesn’t move throughout the day. I’d say it’s on par with my Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner which I use all the time.

And to finish your eye look, the Maxlash Mascara promises to intensify your lashes with outrageous volume and length. Unfortunately this didn’t really do much for me. The XL brush was too large for my short and fine lashes, and the mascara itself did give a bit of volume, but no curl or length. If you’re lucky enough to have longer lashes though this could work well for you.

On to lips now, Cohorted have also included a Doucce Matte Temptation Lipstick in 103 First Date – I must admit I thought the lipstick bullett looked incredibly matte, and I really though it was going to be drying, but actually it was nicely creamy, giving a matte finish that gave full coverage colour as well as feeling smooth and comfortable on the lips. The shade didn’t really suit me, bit I’d definitely be interested in trying some of their other colours – this is a great alternative to a matte liquid lipstick.

The Lip Definer Pencil in shade 470 Lyra has been chosen to match the above lipstick. It gave a smooth, pigmented line that definitely helped keep my lipstick in place – no complaints here!

And lastly the Brow Filler Pencil in Ash Brown. This was another winner for me – the shade was perfect for my light brown brows, and the firm formula gave nice sharp lines which were great for drawing individual lines as well as filling in the brows.

If you’re interested in subscribing to Cohorted’s monthly beauty boxes, you can do so here. Make sure you use code #COHORTEDGIFTME which gives first time subscribers a free Huda Beauty lip Strobe in shade Angelic (worth £17.00) with their first box.

Cohorted September 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on October 2, 2016

cohorted-september-2016-review

Hi Guys!

I’m a bit late with Cohorted’s September box – I’ve been so busy lately it’s unreal! Let’s take a look inside!

  • Cargo Land Down Under Palette, worth £35.00.
  • Percy & Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo, worth £12.00.
  • Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm, worth £18.00.
  • Kure Bazaar Nail Polish in French Rose, worth £14.00.
  • MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara, 3ml worth about £7.00.

Total value of box = £86.00.

Ok so on first glance, I feel like this box isn’t too bad, but I must admit the Cargo Land Down Under Palette, being the main attraction feels a bit ‘same old’ to me. Cohorted have included so many different Cargo palettes over the months – it would have been nice to see a different brand really. If this is your first Cohorted box though, or your first with a Cargo palette, I think you’ll be happy. The palette itself is a lovely product. It contains a selection on 12 shadows, in mostly neutral shades with a couple bright summery tones too. There is also a black eyeliner pencil and a double ended brush included in the palette.

Next the Percy & Reed products. I haven’t tried this brand before so I was happy to find these in the box. The No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo is a ‘no frills’ dry shampoo that promises to soak up excess oil, cleanse the scalp and leave hair looking fresh and shiny. And the Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery Balm is an overnight treatment that you apply to dry hair before going to bed – then wash off in the morning. I love the sound of this as it’s supposed to help strengthen the hair and combat brittleness and breakage. I’m looking forward to trying this out!

The Kure Bazaar Nail Polish is a nice addition to the box too. Shade French Rose is a pretty pale baby pink – unfortunately though, I haven’t been able to unscrew the lid! I’ve tried a few times with no luck – does anyone have any tips for opening stuck nail polish bottle lids??

And lastly the MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara sample. I put the value of this as ‘about £7.00’ as thats what it works out at when you consider a full size tube at 8ml is £19.00. BUT – those that purchase from MAC will know that these samples are given free with your online orders, so I feel that this is kind of devalued because of that. I guess it depends how you look at it really! It’s a nice mascara though, and a great way to try a sample before you go for the full sized product.

So I think overall this box has been a bit hit and miss really – I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I hope you enjoyed my post xx

Cohorted August 2016 Beauty Box Review

Cohorted-August-2016-Beauty-Box-Review

Hi Guys!

Cohorted’s August beauty box has just arrived, so let’s take a look inside…

  • NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette, worth £45.00
  • Smith & Cult Nail Polish in xx, worth £19.00
  • Nunzio Saviano Anti-Frizz Sheets, worth £14.00
  • Cohorted Ovali Brush, worth £18.99
  • Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream, 2x 3ml tubes, worth £24.00

Total value of box = £120.99.

Ok so overall this looks like a great box – let’s start with the NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette. Now I’m going to be completely honest and admit I feel a bit on the fence about this one. On the face of it this is an excellent product, it’s a limited edition Andy Warhol palette, and though unboxed, it’s a really nice eyeshadow palette of high value. My only niggle is that this product was launched in 2012 – making it four years old. Now some people might not have a problem with this (and personally I don’t in this case, but of course this depends on the product as well as personal preference) but I think this is definitely a point worth mentioning. You can see what the inside of the palette looks like here.

Next the Smith & Cult Nail Polish – now this really is a gorgeous product! I have a few Smith & Cult polishes (check them out here) and they really are fab polishes, as well as being presented in stunning packaging. This shade is Regret The Moon, it’s a lovely warm white, with the slightest tint of pink to it. In contrast to the above NARS product, this is actually a brand new shade which is great news! 🙂

Next we have Nunzio Saviano – a brand that I haven’t heard of, but their Anti-Frizz Sheets do sound rather appealing, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having lately. The box contains 15 individually wrapped sheets which promise to instantly smooth hair and eliminate frizz, while controlling static ad taming flyways. I think I’ll be taking a few of these to New York with me next week!

Next the Cohorted Ovali Brush. I’ve already done a comparison post on an original Artis brand oval style brush, compared to an Ebay dupe – and in my opinion you definitely don’t need to spend a fortune on ‘oval’ brushes. Cohorted’s own branded oval brushes come with a really nice rose gold and matte black finish, with the Cohorted logo printed on the handle. These are available to order now from Cohorted as either single brushes or sets.

And lastly, the Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream – I couldn’t actually believe it when I worked out that the two tiny 3ml samples included in the box are actually worth £12.00 each! If you look the product up online you’ll see a 20ml tub is £80.00, so this is a great opportunity to try a product that many of us wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to due to the high price. This product promises to firm, nourish and reduce wrinkles. I’ll be interested to see if it makes any difference to my rather large eye bags!

Overall I think this is a great box, and definitely well worth the £35.00 price tag. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Cohorted July 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on August 8, 2016

cohorted-july-2016-review

Hi Guys!

I’m a bit late with this one but I finally have Cohorted’s July box to share with you – and in my opinion it’s one of their best yet! Let’s take a look inside the box –

  • NARS Monoi Body Glow 2, worth £25.00.
  • HD Brows Sculpt & Glow Palette, worth £45.00.
  • Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil, worth £10.00.
  • Vintage Cosmetics Company Blending Sponge, worth £5.95.
  • Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Envy, worth £17.05.
  • Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Lipliner in Cinnamon, worth £17.05.

Total value of box = £120.05. WOW! So this box is basically worth a fortune, and includes some fantastic sounding products…

The NARS Monoi Body Glow 2 is a lightweight, multipurpose oil, with the most gorgeous warm tropical fragrance – it just smells like holiday! It contains Monoï de Tahiti oil infused with a variety of nutrients, to leave skin glowing, hydrated and radiant. The bottle also contains a sweet little tiare flower for an added element of luxury.

Next, the HD Brows Sculpt & Glow Palette – this handy palette contains two easy to use shades to contour and highlight the face. It promises to create a naturally highlighted effect that will leave the face looking radiant and illuminated. It’s also infused with Argan Oil to deliver moisture to the complexion, whilst remaining gentle to the skin.

The Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil is described as an indulgent way to cleanse skin, containing a blend of Jasmine Flower Extract, Kukui Nut Oil and botanical oils it dissolves surface impurities and makeup without disrupting the skin’s natural balance. Leaving skin feeling soothed, supple and comfortable.

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Blending Sponge – just like a Beauty Blender, the Vintage Cosmetics Company Blending Sponge promises to help you apply makeup such as foundation, concealer and highlighter with ease, giving a flawless, no-streak finish. The sponge is also infused with Vitamin E, which is renowned for its moisturising properties.

And the Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Envy is the most gorgeous muted dusky rose shade – this really caught my eye just because the colour is so beautiful! The lipstick formula contains a blend of iron oxides with vitamins C and E to protect and moisturise lips, while the natural mineral pigments and waxes allow the colour to glide on effortlessly for a smooth and long-lasting finish.

And lastly, the Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Lipliner in Cinnamon – this is a waterproof lip pencil with a creamy texture, formulated with minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants to give perfect definition, that you can apply with ease.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Cohorted June 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on June 14, 2016

cohorted-beauty-box-review-june-2016

Hi Guys!

As ever it doesnt seem like a week has passed since the last box arrived, and now June’s Cohorted box has just landed on my doormat! Let’s take a look what’s included in this months box –

  • HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy, worth £25.00.
  • NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, in Sierra, worth £20.00.
  • James Read Instant Bronzing Spray, worth £25.00.
  • Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner, in Smart Blue, worth £12.00.

Total value of box = £82.00.

Ok, so this box probably isn’t the most exciting I’ve seen from Cohorted (it would have been nice to receive five products rather than four) never the less at £82.00 it is a high value box, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and trying everything out…

I’m a big fan of NARS lip products, especially their Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, so I was really happy to find one in this months box! The shade Sierra is not really my colour though unfortunately – it’s kind of a burnt sienna / orange shade, which I think would look amazing on darker skin tones, but it doesn’t really do much for my pasty complexion! The booklet does say ‘mixed’ for the shade though, so it looks as though there will be a variety of shades on offer. I should also point out that though I’m not keen on this particular colour, I definitely think NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are one of the best matte lipsticks you can buy.

The Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner also caught my eye – you know how I love a blue eyeliner! Shade Smart Blue is a deep midnight blue with a metallic matte finish. It applies nicely and the formula is smooth and soft, but not too soft – I’m really happy this was in the box!

The HD Brows Palette also looks pretty good – this palette contains a highlighter, three brow shades (all matte pressed powder) and a clear wax for setting the brows, as well as a double ended brush. It’s also great that the shadows are dual purpose, so you can use them both as eyeshadow and for your brows.

And lastly the James Read Instant Bronzing Spray – I must admit I’m usually quite wary when it comes to fake tan as I’m pretty pale. The James Read Instant Bronzing Spray promises to deliver an all over golden tan with ease. I’ll be trying this out over the next few days so keep an eye on my snapchat (tsncblog) to see how I get on!

I’d love to hear if you picked up this box and what you thought of it?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
