must-have-spring-beauty-products

Hi Guys!

I know it’s a bit late, but Happy International Women’s day for yesterday!.. 🙂

As you can probably guess, this post was supposed to go live yesterday, but if you follow me on Twitter you may have noticed I wasn’t having the best day – pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong! So between trying to get everything sorted out and work shifts and seeing to Fred, I didn’t get a chance to finish this post.

Anyway, onwards and upwards hey! I’ve been trying out some gorgeous new beauty products lately, and I’ve put together my recommendations for a few ‘must have’ products for Spring – enjoy!

L'Occitane-Ultra-Soft-Balm-review

So to start with, I had to include the L’Occitane Ultra Soft Balm (£4.00) – fans of the brand will know that every year, to mark International Women’s Day L’Occitane launches an exclusive product to support women in developing countries. They’ve actually been working with women of Burkina Faso for over 30 years now to produce the fantastic shea butter used in their products.

The Ultra Soft Balm is this year’s product. It’s a fab little multi-purpose moisturiser, containing 98.6% shea butter, it’s super nourishing and can be used pretty much anywhere on the body. It lt also has a lovely light rose scene and comes in a pretty tin which is the perfect size to keep in your bag for application on the go.

L’Occitane will be donating 100% of profits from this product to fund special local projects to support the women of Burkina Faso – so this is definitely a must have.

No.7-Skin-Illuminator-Nude-review

I don’t know about you, but now we’re moving into the spring, I’m all about glowing, healthy looking skin. And this No.7 Skin Illuminator in Nude (£12.50) is perfect for giving your complexion a lovely light sheen. If you’re not a fan of foundations or coloured bases, you can wear this on it’s own to give skin a healthy glow, or if you wear foundation, its also great as a primer. Personally I’ve been mixing it with my current base to give my skin a touch more luminosity.

Urban-Decay-NAKED-SKIN-concealer-review

Though I love the idea of natural, glowing skin, unfortunately my complexion is less than perfect right now, so I still like to conceal blemishes and my under eye dark circles. Lately I’ve been loving the Urban Decay NAKED SKIN Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (£17.50) – this concealer gives fantastic buildable coverage that doesn’t settle into fine lines. The formula is super lightweight and demi-matte to give a ‘second skin’ feel too, which I love. There’s nothing worse than cakey looking and feeling concealer!

Highlighters are also really popular right now – and I’ve literally just fallen in love with the Too Faced Candlelight Glow (£25.00) – it’s a gorgeous duo powder created specifically to warm and brighten the complexion. The formula is not glittery or sparkly in any way, this is pure ethereal glow in a compact and I can’t get enough of it! Both powders actually look pretty similar on my swatch above, but one is more of a pale gold, which is fantastic for adding warmth to the complexion, and the other is a light rose pink which is great for adding brightness and luminosity.

No.7-Glistening-Coral-Blush-Palette-review

On to blusher now, and this No.7 Glistening Coral Blush Palette (£12.50) is just perfect to add a touch of sun kissed glow to paler complexions. The swatch above is a swirl around the pan mixing the gold and coral shades together – you can see the colour is very subtle, and has a touch of shimmer. This works really well applied a bit heavier on the apples of the cheeks, or lightly applied over the face almost like a bronzer to give skin a radiant glow.

On to lips now, and I’m very pleased to say I’ve been trying out one of the rather fabulous and highly anticipated Lancome Juicy Shakers (£18.00) – I mean, it’s a lip product that looks like a cocktail shaker, need I say any more?

Ok I will, so as a teen of the 90’s and coming of age around the 2000’s, Lancome’s Juicy Tubes were a must have for makeup enthusiasts – my friend actually bought me one for my 17th or 18th birthday and I was absolutely made up! Lancome have now launched their latest product in the Juicy range – the Juicy Shaker! This combines the juicy lip look from their original Juicy Tubes but in the style of the Shaker, one of Lancome’s early products from 1946 based on a cocktail shaker.

So basically this product has a biphasic formula, meaning it has two phases, which need to be shaken up and mixed before application. Juicy Shakers combine a special blend of oils with an infusion of pigments, that when shaken, gives a sheer vibrant lip colour that feels silky, smooth and comfortable on the lips with no stickiness. It’s also worth mentioning the interesting looking cushion applicator – it’s short and stubby, and velvety soft to touch. Kind of like a pointed velvet sponge which absorbs the product ready for application.

I love how this feels on my lips, it’s basically like a coloured lip oil – and there are also 14 shades available which each have different fragrances too. This is definitely a spring beauty must have!

Whilst on the subject of fresh and rosy lips, I also have the rather aptly named FRESH Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment (£18.00) – this fantastic balm moisturises, protects and soothes lips, with added SPF 15 and an exclusive blend of moisture-preserving sugar, nourishing precious oils and antioxidant-rich polyphenols to leave lips feeling wonderfully soft and supple with a pretty rosy tint.

And lastly, at the other end of the spectrum to glossy, shiny and silky lips, we have matte liquid lipsticks – another trend which has shown no signs of slowing down. Everyone wants gorgeous pigmented matte lips that won’t budge – including me, so I’ve included two of my favourite brands here – LA Splash and Coloured Raine. Both brands are US based (sorry) but they do both offer fantastic liquid lipsticks in a massive range of colours, that are really quite reasonably priced. I definitely recommend checking both sites out if you’re looking for a liquid lipstick.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear which products you’d recommend for spring? xxx

Coloured Raine: Marshmallow, Soul & Sugar Matte Lip Paints

coloured-raine-lip-paints-review

Hi Guys!

Following on from my Jeffree Star post, I’ve got some more fabulous liquid lipsticks to share with you today! This is the Coloured Raine Matte Lip Paint Nude Bundle Pack, including three nude shades (top to bottom) Soul, Marshmallow and Sugar.

I first came across Coloured Raine on Instagram. You know how it is when you’re looking at someone’s profile, click on a picture, then form there click on someone else, and next thing you’re looking at your ex boyfriend’s divorced aunt’s, friends’ cat pictures…

Anyway I randomly came across Coloured Raine and I liked what I saw. Lot’s of matte liquid lipsticks in fantabulous colours, as well as normal lipsticks and a few other bits. I was instantly drawn to these shades though as I love nudes. I can’t get enough of them, and these shades are really unusual. Also I’ve got a zillion bright purples and pinks going on already (i.e the Jeffree Star ones) so I went for the Nude set.

The Nude Bundle Pack cost $45.99 plus $9.99 shipping to the UK. I didn’t get charged for customs or taxes (YES!) so they ended up costing $55.98 / £37.23 in total, so about £12.41 each which I think is really reasonable considering Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipsticks are £13 each and Anastasia Beverley Hills Liquid Lipsticks work out at £13.30 each before considering shipping and potential charges.

Left to right – Soul, Marshmallow and Sugar.

I love that the shades are such unusual colours. They all have a muted, grey tone to them, which I decided on purchasing would either look totally awesome on, or maybe just make me look a bit dead… It was 50 – 50 so of course I bought them anyway!

Soul is dark, very very dark. I really liked it on some of the Instagram pictures I saw but I think it’s too dark for my pale skin. It’s kind of a muted deep purple, that’s been mixed with a dab of grey. Definitely goth’s dream!

coloured-raine-marshmallow-lipstick-review

Marshmallow is lovely though, it’s a mid tone mauve / purple / grey mix and I’m really happy with it. This is definitely the most easy to wear shade of the three and I just can’t get enough of it at the moment!

coloured-raine-sugar-lipstick-review

Initially I thought Sugar might be a bit light for me, but actually it’s fine, it just gives a light nude lip look, in a nice muted beige shade. Time permitting, I’ll hopefully be doing some makeup looks with these shortly so you can see what they look like with a full face of makeup on too.

I’m super impressed with these Matte Lip Paints. Once they’re on, they. are on. They don’t budge at all. You can eat, drink, or do whatever else you might like to do with your lips… and the lip paint isn’t going anywhere. Also, I still have the remains of the arm swatches on my arm – because I couldn’t get them off. Just so you know!

So what do you think of these shades? Have you tried any Coloured Raine products before? I’m definitely going to grab some more of these when my funds allow it – the shade Mars looks gorgeous – and maybe some normal lipsticks too 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

*UPDATE* Coloured Raine products are now available at Beauty Bay*
