Beauty News & Gossip 10/07/16: Kat Von D, Colourpop, Anastasia & More!

Posted on July 10, 2016

Hi Guys!

Things have actually been a bit quiet in the beauty world this last week, well in comparison to previous weeks anyway! I’ve rounded up some of the beauty news and gossip for you that’s caught my eye…

You’ve probably heard by now, but AT LAST – Kat Von D has announced her makeup line will be stocked in Debenhams from October! I mean how long have we been waiting for this?

She’s also just brought out some brand new products – Lock-It Concealer Cream and Setting Powder, new face brushes, and the Seprentina Eyeshadow Palette, which all look amazing!

And on that note, favourite US budget beauty brand Colourpop will also be shipping internationally from July 12th – woo hoo!! I have no idea how much shipping will be to the UK, but I know I’ll be there on the 12th to check it out.

Jeffree Star (yep again, sorry) has just announced some fab new limited edition lip shades for summer, there are five new shades coming up with limited edition packaging in yellow and hot pink, they also have a juicy watermelon scent (except 714). The new shades will be available individually or as a set of 5 from July 21st –

  • Watermelon Soda – a bright watermelon coral.
  • Nude Beach – a light nude peach.
  • Virginity – a light nude lilac.
  • Queen Bee – a bright intense yellow.
  • 714 – an almost neon, light coral pink. (re-release)

Anastasia is also bringing out two gorgeous new Glow Kits – Moonchild is a cool toned kit including six icy highlighter shades, and Sweets is full of warm pastel shades…

And of course it’s Christmas in July right now, unfortunately I haven’t been able to make it to any events, but I’ve been stalking all my favourite bloggers’ social pages to see what Christmassy goodies they’ve been tweeting, Instagramming and Snapping. Caroline Hirons shared this rather gorgeous looking palette from Hourglass. This is the limited edition Surreal Light Palette, containing all new shades of Ambient Lighting Powders, which will be available for Christmas 2016 –

  • Surreal Light – largest pan.
  • Surreal Glow – top middle pan.
  • Surreal Effect – top right pan.
  • Surreal Bronze – bottom middle pan.
  • Surreal Strobe Light – bottom right pan.

Oh and lastly, I should probably mention that I’ve been nominated for four awards in the We Are 30 Plus Blogger Awards! That counts as news, doesn’t it? Ok it’s a bit of a shameless plug I know! But please do give me a vote if you enjoy reading my blog, it’ll take less than 30 seconds of your time and would mean the world to me 🙂 You can vote here.

Beauty News & Gossip 01/07/16: Jaclyn Hill SUED, Urban Decay, Jeffree Star & More!

Posted on July 1, 2016

Hi Guys!

Sorry for the late post, this should have been published earlier last week – I hope you enjoy!

Ok so the biggest beauty goss of the last couple of weeks has to be that Jaclyn Hill is being SUED – OMG! Things are not looking too good for the Youtube star after the Becca Eyeshadow palette controversy, and now it’s emerged that a former close friend is suing her over copyright infringement. I won’t go into too much detail as you can easily Google it and take a look yourself  – and I’m not going to speculate who’s in the right and who’s in the wrong here, I just hope it gets sorted fast.

In better news for Jaclyn, a whole new load of products have now been added to Becca’s Champagne collection, including four Champagne Split compacts which contain one half Shimmering Skin Perfector and one half Blush, as well as Shimmering Skin Perfectors in highlighter pen form – the Slimlight pens will be available in shades Topaz, Champagne Pop and Pearl. These are a must have for fans of the Champagne Pop range, and I’ll hopefully have more news on availability in the UK soon.

urban-decay-autumn-launches Urban Decay are always coming up with amazing products, and just look at all the awesome goodies they’re bringing out for A/W! Apart from the highly anticipated Moondust palette, there’s also an Allnighter full coverage, long wearing and water proof foundation range, Perversion is now launching in an Eye Pen, and the Razorsharp Liquid Eyeliners look AMAZING – 20 vibrant shades of water resistant long wear liquid eyeliners. I can’t wait for all of these products to launch!

Jumping back across the pond again, Anastasia Beverley Hills are also launching a brand new twist up stick foundation, in a massive range of shades to suit all skin tones. I’m really loving the look of these!

And Jeffree Star – again. This time a BLACK HIGHLIGHTER. How even is this supposed to work? I have no idea but I’m looking forward to finding out!

Too Faced are great with their sneak peeks on Instagram – and now we finally know what the Too Faced X Nikki Tutorials palette will look like, and though I think it looks nice, I must admit I’m not overly wowed by it. What do you think?

And while I’m on the subject of Too Faced, Jerrod Blandino, owner of Too Faced has been teasing a lot lately with some super close up product shots on his Instagram, the latest being this close up of what looks like a multi-toned blush…

Fans of NARS’ Dual Intensity formulas will be very pleased indeed with the news of a new Dual Intensity Blush Palette. How gorgeous is this!? It includes a highlighter, two blushers and a contour shade. I can’t wait to see swatches!

And I’m also pretty excited that Colourpop are adding to their already extensive liquid lipstick range with four new Ultra Metallic Lips. These shades are way more ‘Autumnal’ than what I was expecting, but I think they look lovely none the less. I’ll definitely be snapping at least a couple of these up on my next US order 🙂

I’m trying REALLY hard not to buy any more palettes, but as soon as I heard Viseart were launching a new palette in the Autumn, I absolutely must have to have it. The shades look beautiful, and this is now top of my wish list!

And lastly Laura Geller have just launched their Easy Illuminating Sticks… their Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators were to die for, and these Illuminating Sticks come in two of the the same shades: Ballerina and Gilded Honey, and Ehereal is very similar to the Charming Pink Gilded Highlighter. These are available in the US now and will be coming to the UK very soon.

I’d love to hear which new launches you’re excited about?

ColourPop Lippie Stix – Worth The Hype?

Posted on July 21, 2015

Hi Guys!

Ever the one to covet beauty goodies that are impossible to get hold of, as soon as I heard about ColourPop Cosmetics, I had to get hold of some of their products! And I say they’re pretty much impossible to get hold of, because they’re currently only available in the US…

If the brand ColourPop means nothing to you, they’re a new cosmetic brand launched only last year, based in LA. This is their ethos –

We take the phrase “if you can dream it, you can do it” to a whole new level and specialize in making killer makeup in every shade imaginable at prices everyone can afford. We think that whole barrier between fancy and affordable is absolute nonsense. That’s why all of our products have luxury formulas at prices that won’t break the bank.

So what’s so special about ColourPop? Well, the most obvious thing is their price point – with $5.00 (£3.20) for a lipstick or eyeshadow, and $8.00 (£5.12) for a highlighter, blush or bronzer, you’d be crazy not to pick some of these products up, given the opportunity.

So what’s the catch? We’ll the catch is that ColourPop makeup is only available in the US, which in itself isn’t the end of the world (hello, Sephora) but… they only ship within the US too. They only offer international shipping to Australia and New Zealand – SAD FACE! (Don’t worry though, I’ll tell you how you can get hold of these beauties at the end of the post)

So I have three of their Matte Lippie Stix – which I actually bought these from someone selling them in my #Bbloggers Beauty Swaps and Sales Facebook group!

From left to right the shades are –

  • Pinch – A light pinky beige with a matte finish.
  • Brink – A warm dusty taupe with a matte finish. Curated by Brittany Suleiman. Inspired by the insta-famous Kylie lip.
  • Lumiere – A dusty mauve pink with a matte finish created by the lovely Kathleen Lights – “I wanted a color that both bold and shy people could wear. It’s not a nude..it would look great on EVERYONE!

Pinch, Brink and Lumiere are three mid toned nude shades, with Pinch having a brown / beige base, Brink having coral and Lumiere having mauve. I actually love all three shades but now I’ve tried them I know Pinch doesn’t look that great on my pale skin tone. Lumiere is definitely my favourite!

All three shades have a matte finish, but they apply really creamy, and have fantastic pigmentation. As with any matte lipstick, the formula can still be drying on the lips, but I find as long as I make sure my lips are moisturised and in good condition before applying, there’s no problem at all. Considering these lipsticks are boxed, and have decent (i.e. not cheap looking) plastic packaging, I really am beyond impressed!

I should also mention that ColourPop have an absolutely massive range of shades available, in their Lippie Sticks, matching Lippie Pencils and eyeshadows too. I may just plan a big order soon 😀

So are you tempted yet!? If you are and you fancy trying some of these gorgeous products out for yourself, there is a sneaky way you can get them shipped to the UK. If you go to mymallbox and sign up, they’ll assign you with your very own US postal address – which is actually a mail box address at their warehouse. They then forward your package on to you. Easy! Prices vary depending on how much you spend and the weight of your parcel, and of course there’s the possibility you could receive customs charges too which you should be aware of. Either way, ColourPop products are so cheap, in my opinion it’s definitely worth it, and I know a few people that have already used this service so I know it definitely works!

I’d love to hear what you think of these Lippie Stix? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
