Must Have Fragrances To Add To Your Wish List!

Posted on November 14, 2018

I have a fantastic bundle of new high street fragrances that have launched over the last few months to share with you today. This is quite a long list, so I’ll try to keep the descriptions pretty short. I’ve added a list of notes for each fragrance, as well as information on similar scents and ‘you’ll like this if..’ for each scent too – enjoy!

Starting with the gorgeous Lancome La Vie Est Belle L’Eclat EDT – this fragrance is easily one of my favourite launches of 2018. La Vie Est Belle L’Eclat opens with wonderful zesty, sparkling notes of mandarin, grapefruit and bergamot, leading to a shimmering floral heart, and a bright and warm base of Iris, Patchouli and, Ambroxan. This is a must try and would make a fabulous Christmas present for Lancome fans!

  • Top notes: Bergamot Oil, Mandarin Oil, Tea Accord
  • Heart notes: Neroli Oil, Sambac Jasmine Absolute, Orange blossom absolute, Rose oil
  • Base notes: Iris Concrete, Patchouli oil, Ambroxan.
  • Smells like / is similar to: Lancome La Vie Est Belle (original)
  • You’ll like this if: you like zesty, fresh, feminine scents

Next, DKNY Stories EDP – this is a vibrant, oriental floral woody scent with a feminine edge, inspired by the dynamic pulse of the city. Stories is the perfect every day scent, that’s sweet, but not overly so, floral, feminine and captivating.

  • Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Pink Guava Mousse, Black Cardamom
  • Middle Notes: Jasmine Sambac, White Tea, Black Iris
  • Base Notes: Vanilla Bean, White Sandalwood, Grey Amber Accord
  • Smells like / is similar to: Mugler Womanity
  • You’ll like this if: you like sweet, floral, oriental fragrances

Elie Saab Girl of Now Shine EDP is next – this is a beautifully radiant gourmand fragrance that opens with edible notes of roasted pistachio and juicy pineapple, before a heart of sunny ylang ylang, jasmine, ormond flower, almond and orange blossom. In the dry down, the earthiness of iris and patchouli combines with fuzzy vanilla, creating a trail that lingers with sensuality.

  • Top Notes: Roasted Pistachio, Pineapple
  • Heart Notes: Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Ormond Flower
  • Base Notes: Iris, Vanilla, Patchouli
  • Smells like / is similar to: Elie Saab Girl of Now, but this is lighter and more floral.
  • You’ll like this if: you like iris, almond, gourmand scents.

Next up is Nina Ricci Bella EDT – a vibrant fruity gourmand fragrance, Bella opens with a mouth-watering acidic rhubarb accord and the fresh and bold zest of green mandarin. In the heart, a rose jelly blends with rich floral facets of luminous freesia, and an indulgent base of white musk and vanilla adds warmth and smoothness to the accord.

  • Top Notes: Rhubarb, Mandarin
  • Heart Notes: Rose Jelly, Freesia
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, White Musk
  • Smells like / is similar to: Nina Ricci Les Belles Liberty Fizz from wayyy back on the 90’s
  • You’ll like this if: you like syrupy sweet, fruity gourmand scents

Michael Kors Wonderlust Eau Fresh – think vibrant, carefree and endless possibilities. Wonderlust Eau Fresh is a luxurious interpretation of the original, opening with sparkling pink grapefruit, tart Granny Smith apples, and Italian bergamot. The lush petals of white peony evoke a softness at the heart, while pamplewood deepens the citrus effect as sleek woodiness adds dimension to the base.

Mugler Aura EDT – this is actually the first Mugler fragrance I’ve tried in a long time, and I absolutely love it! Aura EDP is a glowing, fresh oriental botanical scent created around three distinctive and addictive ‘hearts’. The instinctive heart contains the tiger liana plant which is the guiding thread and signature note of this fragrance and features fresh, green, sweet, animalistic and smoky notes for instinctive femininity. The botanical heart is a duo of green and floral notes with a blend of rhubarb leaves and orange blossom absolute for an explosive and intense freshness, and the animal heart is the combination of bourbon vanilla absolute and wolfwood, a new silky enveloping wood with a sensual texture.

  • Instinctive Heart: Tiger Liana
  • Botanical Heart: Rhubarb Leaf, Orange Blossom Absolute
  • Animal Heart: Bourbon Vanilla Absolute, Wolfwood
  • Smells like / is similar to: Aura EDP – this is basically a lighter version
  • You’ll like this if: you like fresh, dewy, clean scents.

Next up is Maison Margeila Mutiny – as a big fan of tuberose, I was excited to try this! Mutiny is described as a modern take on a timeless classic, it’s an oriental floral fragrance with ‘deconstructed’ tuberose, meaning different qualities of tuberose have been positioned in the top, heart and base notes of the fragrance. The result is a daring floral that reveals the true facets of the flower, combining tuberose with a warm leather accord.

  • Top Notes: Mandarin Oil, Pink Pepper, Saffron.
  • Heart Notes: Orange Flower, Sambac Jasmine Absolute, and Tuberose Absolute.
  • Base Notes: Leather Accord, Bourbon Vanilla, Oud.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Love EDT – the latest flanker in the Daisy collection is Daisy Love EDT, an addictive sparkling gourmand scent with care-free, radiant florals. This gourmand radiant perfume reveals its first notes in a vibrant burst of sweet cloudberries. Delicate daisy tree petals mingle with sparkling cashmere musks and driftwood to create a lasting and memorable gourmand twist. This is a beautiful, easy-to-wear, every day scent.

  • Top Notes: Crystalized Cloudberries.
  • Heart Notes: Daisy Tree Petals.
  • Base Notes: Cashmere Musks, Driftwood.
  • Smells like / is similar to: Marc Jacobs Daisy
  • You’ll like this if: you like sparkling, radiant, bright fragrances

Next we have Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal By Night EDP – the latest take on Scandal, Scandal By Night offers a deeper take on the original, where the creaminess of gardenia has been replaced with the sweetness of honeyed tuberose. Sticky and rich, the smoothness of tonka bean and sandalwood create an almond-like scent, kissing your skin with an addictive, almost-edible finale. This fragrance is wonderfully edible – a must try for fans of Jean Paul Gaultier!

  • Top Note: Tuberose
  • Heart Notes: Honey
  • Base Notes: Sandalwood, Tonka Bean

Jimmy Choo Fever EDP – the latest fragrance from Jimmy Choo offers a floral gourmand with rich, sensual facets. Fever is fun, glamorous and tempting, opening with juicy lychee and grapefruit and sticky black plum nectar, leading to soft side of heliotrope to powder down the wild florals in the core. As the scent warms of the skin, addictive tones of roasted tonka bean and sweet, resinous benzoin are what gives Jimmy Choo Fever its multifaceted personality, creating a beautiful lingering aroma.

  • Top Notes: Black Plum Nectar, Lychee, Grapefruit
  • Heart Notes: Heliotrope, Vanilla Orchid, Jasmine
  • Base Notes: Roasted Tonka Bean, Benzoin, Sandalwood
  • Smells like / is similar to: YSL Black Opium, Kenzo Elixir

  • Heart Notes: Jasmine Absolute, Wild Tuberose, Dewy Honeysuckle Natureprint
  • Base Notes: Techno Woods, Amber Resins, Captive Musks
  • Smells like / is similar to: Marc Jacobs Daisy
  • You’ll like this if: you like clean, fresh, girly scents.

And last but not least, the gorgeous Paco Rabanne Black XS For Her EDP – an electrifying floral oriental fragrance that’s both sensual and provocative. The scent opens with creamy ylang-ylang and tempting vanilla, before making way for a distinctive heart of warm popped puffed corn, musk and milkwood. The seductive base of sandalwood blends with hot ambrette seed to create an sensuous, intoxicating blend. This is the perfect evening scent, and the bottle is stunning too – be sure to add this to your Christmas list!

Posted on April 1, 2016

Hi Guys!

DKNY are back on the blog today with two of the tallest perfumes I’ve ever seen! 🙂

These are the brand new and limited edition Original Summer fragrances, for him and for her. And as expected from DKNY, both are fantastic, easily wearable summer scents – I love how DKNY continually come up with gorgeously wearable and not to mention affordable perfumes, time and time again…

So as ever with DKNY, the idea is it’s summer in New York City, and the heat is on! Think of the beautiful NYC skyline, and neon, saturated hues which are reflected in the bold DKNY logos used on the fragrance bottles. A heady intoxication is in the air and passion and optimism is on the horizon.

Intoxicated by the promise of all that is possible, DKNY lovers return to the fast pace of the concrete jungle for the sleekest new experience to rush the senses.

DKNY Original Women Summer Limited Edition – this is a bright and sparkling floral fruity fragrance, to me this scent takes me back to my early twenties, it’s a hot balmy night out in the city with the girls, cocktails and dancing, this fragrance is fun and youthful yet sensuous. Original Women Summer has juicy top notes of Goji Berry, Citrus Sorbet, and Peach Bellini, floral heart notes of Pink Water Lily, Violet, and Wet Rose, and base notes of Cashmere Woods, Musk and White Amber.

DKNY Original Men Summer Limited Edition – this is an exhilarating and woody yet refreshing scent. Original Men Summer has top notes of fresh Green Pineapple, Citrus cocktail of Bergamot and Lemon Italy, and Aquatic Solar Notes, heart notes of Green Violet, Cedarwood Virginia, and Vetiver Heart, and base notes of Modern Amber, Musk, and White Patchouli.

DKNY Women Limited Edition is RRP £41 for 100ml, and DKNY Men Limited Edition is RRP £37 for 100ml. Both will be available exclusively from Superdrug from April 6th 2016.

The Limited Edition DKNY Be Electric Fragrance Collection

Posted on February 8, 2016

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! Today I have a gorgeous collection of limited edition fragrances to share with you…

DKNY will shortly be releasing three limited edition flankers – the Be Electric collection, as the latest additions to their world renowned Be Delicious range. Inspired by the pulsating lights of the city that never sleeps – New York, the Be Electric trio are presented in brighter than bright, neon bottles, in the recognised apple shape of Be Delicious fragrances.

I knew I had to try these fragrances as soon as I saw them – apart from loving the last Be Delicious fragrance, Be Desired, I’m also a total sucker for neon colours, and these, though probably not to everyone’s taste, are bright, bold, and right up my street!

The Be Electric fragrances can all be described as sparkling, juicy and fruity, whilst being oh so wearable. The theme here is the energy of the bustling city and the optimism of exciting new beginnings, and I think the packaging as well as the fragrances sum this up really well.

So let’s take a look at the scents –

The Pink one  Loving Glow: This was the first fragrance I tried out of the three, and I instantly fell in love. Loving Glow has fruity top notes of juicy blackcurrant, tart grape and pineapple. Jasmine and purple violet blend with apricot for the heart, and vanilla, right amber wood and sensuous musk are at the base, giving this scent a depth of allure.

The Green one – Bright Crush: Keeping with the fresh and fruity theme, Bright Crush has sparkling top notes of bergamot and blackcurrant, sweet plum is enveloped at the heart by pretty florals of frangipani and peony, and base notes of golden amber, vanillia and creamy woods add warmth and femininity.

The Orange one – Citrus Pulse: With a nod to the freshness of oranges, without the sharpness, Citrus Pulse opens with a blend of nectarine, mandarin and passion fruit. A floral current also runs through the fragrance with notes of jasmine absolute, plumeria blossom and honeyed magnolia at the heart. Benzoin, warm musk and sandalwood are blended at the base to give a rich and creamy sweetness.

Just because the packaging is bold and neon, I think I expected these fragrances to be a lot sharper than they are – but they’re not actually sharp at all, they’re all very sweet, very feminine and like I originally said, surprisingly easy to wear. I really can’t decide which I love the most! If you’re on the hunt for a new spring fragrance I highly recommend you check these out!

The DKNY Be Electric Collection will have an RRP of £37 for each 50ml bottle, and they will be available nationwide from March 2016.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

New From DKNY: Be Desired EDP

Posted on October 2, 2015

Hi Guys!

I was so excited to be invited along to the launch of DKNY’s latest fragrance, Be Desired last week. I don’t want to go too much into the party details, but it was held in a beautiful rooftop garden, with the new fragrance dotted throughout the space so everyone could try it out – oh and they had real flamingos too, which I was amazed by. It wasn’t exactly your bog standard party…

Anyway, Be Desired is the latest addition to DKNY’s ‘Be Delicious’ range of fragrances – which I can’t believe launched over ten years ago now!

Be Desired includes top notes of orange, blackcurrant, violet leaf and iced grapefruit, heart notes of acacia flower, cassis absolute, Asian jasmine and Turkish rose, and base notes of Cedar, cashmere and amber wood. On initial spritz the fragrance is quite green – and a bit sharp (or so I originally thought) I was on the fence at first, but within moments it settles down to a beautiful fruity yet floral scent, definitely reminiscent of the original Be Delicious fragrance, but with a modern twist.

I’ve worn it a few times since the event and I actually love this fragrance now! It’s such an uplifting, fresh fragrance, it’s perfect for every day wear.

Be Desired features a new floral element, the lush and creamy sensual tones are infused with a green floral direction. The scent instantly draws you in with a sparkle of orange oil combined with tart blackcurrant and dewy violet leaves. Iced grapefruit teases the senses with a vivacious energy. Exotic elements bring a succulent texture to the bouquet of jasmine samba and turkish rose. Precious woody notes of cedarwood and vibrant amber wood create an unforgettable essence of the new fragrance.

DKNY Be Desired is £69 for 100ml, £50 for 50ml and £37 for 30ml. It will be available nationwide from 14th October 2015.

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx
