Every Single Beauty Advent Calendar for Christmas 2018!

Posted on August 17, 2018

I know it’s only August, but news of 2018’s beauty advent calendars has already started to spread, so I thought it’s about time I gathered information on every single one so you can have a (hopefully) fully comprehensive list to refer to over the coming months.

The below list is in price order, starting with the groups (where a brand has more than one calendar) and then the lowest, and I’ll update info, dates and links as soon as I have the info myself – enjoy!

New In Beauty: Products Worth Checking Out!

Posted on September 13, 2016

new-in-beauty-products-worth-checking-out

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

loccitane-candle

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

clarins-lancome-pur

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

sleek

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

chantecaille-espa

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

loreal-french-girl-body-shop-tea-tree

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

soap-and-glory

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

erborian-w7-kiehls-new

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

Well there we have it, I hope you found this post useful – please do let me know if you have any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts! xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #13

Posted on July 26, 2015

the-weekly-top-5-no-13_edited-1

Hi Guys!

Happy Sunday! This week has been a bit of a funny one for me – I feel like I say that a lot actually! My son has been poorly with a virus and now he’s better he’s passed it to my husband and I, thanks! We’ve both now got some weird lump thing on our tongues which is pretty strange, and it hurts to talk and eat, which is never fun! So I’ve been feeling a bit rotten for the last few days really! In better news though, we also went to a good friend’s wedding yesterday which was a lot of fun, the weather held out and Fred had a great time playing with the other children. By the end of the night all the girls were on the dance floor doing the Macarena, and now I’m left with a slightly fuzzy head today 🙂

I’m also off to London next week with some exciting things planned – all will be revealed soon, and I’m planning to visit one of my blogger chums, Ting from The Ting Thing in Birmingham soon too which is really exciting! It’s basically going to be two full days of shopping, eating and gossiping about makeup!

Here’s this week’s top five

L.A.B.2 Strokes Of Genius Eye Brush Set (£18.99) – This is a brand new brand to me, and even though I’ve only just started using these brushes, I’m super impressed already! This Eye Brush Set includes five must have eye brushes, including an Eyeshadow Brush, Crease Brush, Pointed Eyeliner Brush, Brow & Liner Brush, and Brow & Lash Groomer. Each brush comes with soft touch handle and includes FiberLuxe Technology, which is described as ‘the softest and highest quality filaments for professional results every time’. They promise superior pigment pick-up and release, even colour distribution and precise makeup application. For the price of this set, I’m really impressed so far!

Next is the Palm Skater Dress by Simply Be (£45.00) – I decided last week that I’d better buy a new frock for my friend’s wedding, and ended up in one of my favourite shops – Simply Be. Apart from stocking some gorgeous clothes, I can honestly say the Norwich store has some of the nicest shop floor staff I’ve ever some across. I purchased the super pretty Palm Skater Dress as apart from having a lovely pattern, it’s also the perfect style for my bottom-heavy shape. I love the print, and the fact that it’s black and white so you can accessorise with pretty much any colour imaginable!

The Book of Summer Beauty by ESPA (£24.99) – You can’t beat a surprise in the post! And I was over the moon when I received a beautifully packaged parcel from ESPA this week. The Limited Edition Book of Summer Beauty includes ESPA’s three summer beauty essentials – including the Optimal Skin ProSerum to even skin tone and restore radiance, 24 hour Replenishing Moisturiser to prevent the early signs of ageing and Pink Hair and Scalp Mud to condition hair and scalp. Expect a full review coming up within the next month or so.

Be Legendary Matte Lipstick by Smashbox (£16.00) – I’m a big fan of a matte lip, and Smashbox’s new collaboration with Instagram star and artist, Donal Richardson includes a new matte shade collection that’s just spot on for the summer. I have the shade Paris Pink, which is a beautiful and wearable matte pink shade. The formula includes vitamins and antioxidants to nourish and protect the lips, with an lovely creamy formula.

And lastly, this week’s TV obsession has been Big School. If you haven’t heard of Big School, it’s a new comedy series on Netflix, starring a couple of my favourite comedy actors – David Walliams and Catherine Tate. Big School tells the story of school life from the teacher’s point of view, and the antics they get up to. I won’t tell you anymore, you’ll have to watch it!

In case you missed it – I’m currently holding a giveaway with QVC where two winners will win two Soapsmith sets each, and I’ve also just reviewed some beautiful new Autumn releases from Clarins on the blog too…

clarins-autumn-collection-review

Other things worth mentioning –

I’ve ben doing a *little* bit of shopping lately, and I’m really excited because I’ve signed up to a new subscription box, which should arrive in early August. Keep your eyes peeled to find out which one it is! And I also have plans in place to finish off my office (which I know I keep going on about) but I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere this time, so I’ll tell you all about it as soon as it’s done 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #5

Posted on May 10, 2015

the weekly top 5 no 5

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend? I went out for a very rare night on the town last night, and ended up sleeping in all morning, oops! I had the best time though, and it does make me wonder how I used to do it every weekend when I was younger, I’m knackered today! I really needed it as haven’t had the best week. My anxiety has flared up again, seemingly out of nowhere and I’ve been feeling pretty rotten, so last night was just what I needed to help me feel like me again! I also decided to cut my hair off before I went out, as you do – I’ll have a post on that later in the week! So here are the things I’ve been loving this week…

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil (£85) I’ve been really really good and haven’t bought any beauty products for a while now, ok except for a couple of bits from MAC’s Wash and Dry collection, but apart from that, I really have been restrained. I then happened to notice that Sunday Riley’s Luna Night Oil was on pre-order at Space NK, now this really has been top of my wish list ever since I read Caroline Hirons rave review, so I decided to treat myself! If you haven’t heard of it, this oil is described as ‘A next-generation retinoid oil to reduce pore size, improve appearance of damaged skin and help fight wrinkles.’ It sounds AMAZING – I’ve only just started using it and I’m loving it so far, I’ll save the details for my full review which will be up in the next 2-3 weeks.

La Montana Candle in First Light (£35) This beautiful collection of candles are inspired by the founders’ new life in a Spanish mountain village – so if you’re a fan of the Mediterranean, you’ll be sure to like these scents. The First Light candle is described as ‘A unique, intoxicating blend of wild, aromatic mountain herbs: fennel, bergamot, rosemary, mountain pepper, and rockrose.’ This is La Montaña’s signature fragrance, representing the scent of their new mountain home. This candle has a beautiful scent that’s comforting yet fresh, I’ve been burning it all week and my house smells divine.

Skins. My latest Netflix obsession. I watched Skins when it originally aired on TV in 2007, and I guess I kind of forgot about it till I noticed it last weekend when it popped up on my Netflix recommendations. I’ve literally been watching it all week, it’s really additive! If you haven’t seen Skins, it’s basically a teen drama with lots of drugs and sex, and a good helping of comedy. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new series to get stuck into!

Dirty Works Stay Cool Cucumber Eye Pads (£4.00) These sweet little eye pads arrived only yesterday morning, and I’ve already used two sets! The box contains 10 sets of pads – which are printed to look like cucumber slices, and they’re infused with cucumber extract and aloe vera to soothe and cool the eye area. I popped mine in the fridge before using them so they felt amazingly cool and comforting on my troublesome puffy eyes. After 2-5 minutes you’re then left with a brighter and rejuvenated eye area!

ESPA Naturally Radiant Tinted Moisturiser (£32) I was actually surprised with now much I loved this product. I’m usually a medium to full coverage kinda gal, so tinted moisturisers are not something I would automatically reach for. I was sent a sample to try though, and even though you don’t get much coverage – as expected, this tinted moisturiser leaves your skin with a really healthy looking glow. I actually love it! If you’re after coverage then this product won’t be for you, but if you have decent skin and you’re just looking to even out your complexion and add radiance, this is definitely worth trying. I have the two lightest shades Nude and Blush, which both worked fantastically well on my fair skin tone.

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

The Weekly Top Five #1

Posted on April 12, 2015

the-weekly-top-five-no-1

Hi Guys!

I always have good intentions, but I seem to constantly forget to do my end of the month favourites posts, so I thought it might work out better to do a weekly top five instead! The plan is every Sunday I’ll put together five things I’ve been loving from the previous week. This can be anything from beauty to fashion to food to TV, just anything I love. So let’s kick off week one!

1. Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Foundation (£30) I reviewed this foundation a while ago, and though I said it was a pretty fantastic foundation, I did also say it’s not going to be great for you if you have dry skin – which I do. But since I’ve been using my new ARK Skincare products I’ve noticed the dryness on my face improving, and because my skin has improved I’ve been using this powder for the last week or so and I just love it. It gives amazing coverage and only takes a few seconds to apply, so it’s perfect for when I’m rushing around in the morning.

2. Sanctum Soho Rose Slouching Wash Bag (£26) I’ve had this was bag for a while, and apart from the fact that it’s a pretty awesome looking bag for a wash bag, with it’s faux snakeskin effect finish and rose gold hardware, it’s also massive so you can fit all your stuff in it. Also because it’s so pretty it can double up as a clutch if you fancy. I’ve actually found it really useful for carrying my makeup and skincare around in lately – I have a LOT of makeup though. It would be way too big for most people to carry around as a makeup bag, but if you’re on the hunt for a fancy new wash bag for your travels, I’d highly recommend this.

3. ESPA Energising Shower Gel (£19) I actually won this from ESPA at Christmas time. They sent out a email and said the first x amount of people to reply would win a surprise, so of course I typed as fast as I could and I won one if their Energising Sets, yay! I’ve only just dug it out if the cupboard and started using the shower gel and I love it! It’s fresh and zesty, with eucalyptus and peppermint to revitalise and wake you up in the morning.

4. House. I don’t really watch TV as such, I’m mostly to be found on the laptop doing blog related stuff or working, but since discovering Netflix I’ve been binge watching some of their most popular series’. I started off with Orange is the New Black, then Gossip Girl, then more recently Hemlock Grove, and I’m now addicted to House, the grumpy doctor! It’s basically a medical version of CSI, so if you like CSI you’ll like House.

5. Rodial Super Acids X-treme Pore Shrink cleansing Pads (£38) I’ve been trialling these pore shrink pads out as well as some other brands’ targeted products to see which works the best at reducing the appearance of my enlarged pores. So far I’m absolutely loving these pads, I won’t go into too much detail as I’ll be writing up a full review soon, but they gently remove makeup and leave skin with a matte finish, and they also instantly reduce pores. I mean this is an instant, visible effect. I noticed it straight away and so did my husband. This stuff is good!

So that’s it for this week! What do you think of my new Weekly Top Five series?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
