too-faced-new-products

Hi Guys!

You may have noticed that things have been a bit quiet on the blog lately – well I’ve moved house! It all happened a bit suddenly but we’re finally in our gorgeous new house, and I’ll have a post up shortly telling you all about it 🙂

Back to beauty now though – I am just LOVING all the new beauty releases that are launching lately, and I’m so glad that all the gorgeous Too Faced products I’ve been lusting over for God knows how many months have finally arrived in the UK. Let’s take a look at some of their newest products…

too-faced-sketch-markers-review

Starting with the Sketch Markers (£17.00) – I’ve been dying to get my hands on these from as soon as I first heard about them. As an eyeliner fan, I love anything that’s colourful, quirky and fun – and these Sketch Markers definitely tick all these boxes! Described an advanced liquid eyeliner inspired by Japanese Calligraphy Pens, the formula of these pen style eyeliners promises to create an exceptionally smooth, vivid, and waterproof line.

too-faced-sketch-markers-swatches

Firstly, the packaging is SO on point. These eyeliners are just super cute and really look like colouring pens, and have cute little heart shaped details on the lids which I love. The pens themselves have a typical flexible felt-pen style tip, which allows you to easily create very fine as well as thick lines.

Shade Candy Pink was actually more pigmented than I expected. I imagined it to be quite sheer and watery but luckily I was wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, these aren’t the most pigmented eyeliners I’ve ever used, but for a baby pink shade, I think this came out really well, as well as having a nice matte finish when dry. I really want to grab a few more of the coloured shades now – there are 12 to choose from which include pastels as well as brights, and I have my eye on shades Steel Blue and Deep Lilac next.

too-faced-lip-injection-glossy-review

Next we have the Lip Injection Glossy Lip Gloss (£17.00) – Ok so you know when you buy a ‘lip plumping’ product, and you don’t really get your hopes up. You apply it, your lips tingle a bit and that’s it? I must admit I was kind of expecting that with the Lip Injection Glosses, but how wrong was I! I’m not even kidding you when I say my lips were visibly plumper – I mean you could actually easily tell they looked bigger. I was completely shocked!

The new Lip Injection Glosses come in six shades, of which I have two nudes – Angel Kisses, and Milkshake. Both are very sheer with just a tint of colour, and as I already said, they really do plump the lips – better than any other product I’ve tried so far!

too-faced-matte-lipsticks-review

too-faced-melted-matte-swatches

And lastly the Melted Matte Lipsticks (£19.00) – I’m a big fan of Too Faced’s original Melted Lipsticks, so I couldn’t wait to try out their new Melted Mattes. These liquid lipsticks promise to glide over lips like a gloss but dry down to an ultra-matte opaque finish – and indeed they do exactly that!

The formula comes infused with a no-sting lip plumper and filler, to ensure the colour always looks rich, full, and kissable. I have shades Bend & Snap! and Who’s Zoomin Who, both you can see are fantastically well pigmented – the above swatches show them in the process of drying down, which only takes a couple of minutes. I’m in love with Who’s Zoomin Who, it’s just such an unusual, deep inky blue. I’m thinking of putting together a makeup look with this, and maybe the pink eyeliner? Let me know if you’d like to see that!

too-faced-melted-matte-lipstick-review

Overall I’m really impressed with Too faced’s latest selection of products – I can’t wait to try out some of their Christmas releases next, and word on the street is they’re collaborating with one of my favourite accessory brands, Skinnydip, in early 2017 – I’m really excited for that!

Too Faced products are available in the UK at Debenhams.

Beauty: The Beauty Bay Colour Cosmetics Box #BBDaretoShare

Posted on October 9, 2016

beauty-bay-products

Hi Guys!

As a complete beauty fanatic – with a special place in my heart for makeup in particular, there’s nothing like discovering and trying out new beauty brands – whether they’re actually new on the market, or just new to me.

So I was very excited indeed, when Beauty Bay sent over an amazing box including some of their top selling products for me to try out and share with you – I couldn’t wait to get stuck in!

spectrum-a01-large-domed-powder-brush-review

Starting with the Spectrum A01 Large Domed Powder Brush (£9.00) – Spectrum really do make the prettiest, most colourful brushes – and they’ve been on my wish list for a while so I was really pleased to find one in my box. The Large Domed Powder Brush is a generously sized brush, perfect for buffing powder-based products into the skin. It has a fun baby pink handle and purple and blue bristles – this is definitely a brush that stands out from the crowd! I’ve been using it with the Artdeco Fixing Powder (coming up next) and it does a fab job of applying the powder and buffing it in to the skin.

beautybay-haul-review

The Artdeco Fixing Powder Box (£11.75) – is basically a translucent setting powder. It was originally designed to set and waterproof the Artdeco Camouflage Cream but it’s also great as an all round setting powder for any skin type. The powder is super finely milled, and though it looks white, it applies translucent whilst giving makeup a waterproof finish to ‘lock in’ your look.

artdeco-fixing-powder-box-review

I was also pleased to find a couple of pen style eyeliners in the box – the Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner (£15.00) was the first I tried – it has a firm, long pointed nib, that’s great for creating sharp, thick lines, and it gives highly pigmented colour that boasts longevity and refuses to smudge. And the LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Waterproof Slim Eyeliner Pen (£11.25) is basically the opposite of the EOH liner – this one has a small, fine, flexible tip, that’s perfect for creating slim, feline flicks with precision. It’s also waterproof, budge proof and lasts all day.

nailberry-nail-polish-review

There were also a couple of Nailberry L’Oxygene Oxygenated Nail Lacquers (£14.50) in the box – these polishes are ‘free from five’, vegan friendly and cruelty free, and come in generous sized 15ml bottles. Shade Elegance (shown above) is a sheer baby pink shade, perfect for a tint of colour and to give the nails shine. And I also have shade Simplicity which I love! This is a light nude beige – perfect for fairer skin tones like mine, and only takes a couple of coats for full opacity.

ga-de-basica-matte-eyeshadow-palette

Next I have the Ga-De Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette (£19.00) – now this is a brand that I haven’t tried or let alone even heard of before! The GA-DE Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition product containing a collection of sophisticated matte eye shadows – and I have to say I absolutely love it!

This palette contains a selection of eight neutral matte shades, which are all easy to wear and perfect for daily use. The compact is basic but sturdy and has a mirror in the lid, and the shadows are just so amazingly soft and fantastically well pigmented – this is going straight in my makeup bag and will definitely give my Urban Decay Naked Basics a run for its money!

ga-de-true-color-satin-lipstick-review

I also have the Ga-De True Color Satin Lipstick (£11.00) – another lovely product from Ga-De, this True Color Satin Lipstick in shade 232 Plum Noir is a lovely deep plum colour that’s perfect for autumn. The formula feels creamy and moisturising, and leaves a highly pigmented satin finish that is long wearing and feels lightweight and non-drying on the lips.

beauty-bay-products-review

Next I have the Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara (£16.50) – which is said to be perfect for fine, brittle lashes (this is basically my eyelashes) – so I had high hopes for this product!

The Goddess Mascara has been formulated with Natural Waxes and Oils, Antioxidants, Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamins to protect and nourish lashes whilst lengthening and volumising. It has a silicon brush with short, dense bristles that work really well on my short lashes. The finish isn’t  an out there ‘false lashes’ look as such, but it nice, non-clumpy and natural enough for every day wear.

stila-stay-all-day-matteificent-lipstick-review

I was also really excited to try the Stila Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick (£15.00) – again, Stila is another brand that I haven’t used for a very long time – I think their Eyes are the Windows palette was the last item I used actually. The Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick is a lightweight, long wearing matte finish lipstick, utilising a Flexible Film Long-Wear Complex which delivers a soft, gel like film that hydrates and protects the lips whilst ensuring maximum adhesion of colour.

Shade Coquille is beautiful muted, dusky pink, which I completely love. The formula feels comfortable and creamy to wear, and even though the finish is matte, it’s not drying on the lips, and lasts for hours on end.

la-splash-lipstick-review

And lastly the LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Lipstick (£9.95) – I LOVE LA Splash Matte Lipsticks, and this one in shade Ghoulish is the perfect partner for my Stila lipstick – the shades are almost identical!

If you’re looking for a matte liquid lipstick that literally lasts all day, then look no further. LA Splash’s Lip Couture lipsticks offer amazing pigmentation, with a super lightweight formula that feels velvety matte and smooth once it’s dried – and it won’t budge at all throughout the day.

beautybay-products-post

So there we have it! You can probably guess that my favourite item from the box was the Ga-De Matte Palette! Though it’s not much to look at – and I mean that in the nicest way possible – there are no frills, no shiny sparkly designs or packaging with this palette – but it doesn’t matter, this is a fantastic every day matte palette that’s very likely to become my go-to from now on.

And as far as Beauty Bay goes as a whole, I love that offer such a fantastic range of brands – many of which you can’t find anywhere else in the UK. I don’t expect I’d have ever come across the likes of Ga-De especially if it wasn’t for this box. They also stock brands such as Makeup Geek, Coloured Raine, Jeffree Star, Violet Voss and Dose of Colours to name but a few.

Beauty: Guerlain Autumn 2016 Collection

Posted on September 26, 2016

guerlain-autumn-2016-collection

Hi Guys!

Autumn is most definitely in the air now – and it’s probably my favourite time of year. I love that the weather is getting cooler and the nights are starting to draw in, and one of my other favourite things of course is all the Autumn Winter beauty collections!

One of my favourite high end brands, Guerlain, has recently sent over a selection of products from their Autumn 2016 collection – and I think I’m in love! Guerlain A/W 2016 is all about quick, easy and spontaneous make-up. This collection contains ready-to-wear shades for eyes and lips, in chic and easy to apply colours, allowing you to effortlessly customise your look however your mood takes you. This is a collection where there really is something for everyone.

guerlain-eyeshadow-palette-rose-barbare-review

guerlain-eyeshadow-palette-02-tonka-imperiale-review

Starting off with the brand new range of Palette 5 Coleurs (£43.00) – Guerlain have launched six essential and comprehensive eye palettes for AW16. Each including a base to illuminate and even the lid, two mid nude tones to subtly enhance, and two smoky, more sophisticated shades to intensify the whole look. The six palettes are as follows –

  • 01 Rose Barbare – a cool lavender and purple toned palette.
  • 02 Tonka Imperiale – a warm chestnut brown palette.
  • 03 Coque D’Or – a warm gold and bronze themed palette.
  • 04 L’Heure De Nuit – a light and mid grey toned palette.
  • 05 Apres l’Ondee – a cool blue and silver themed palette.
  • 06 Bois Des Indes – a warm pinkish brown toned palette.

The palettes I have above are – 01 Rose Barbare at the top, and 02 Tonka Imperiale – and I’d highly recommend checking the shades out on the House of Fraser site (link at the bottom of the post) as my camera has made the eyeshadows look quite a lot lighter than they are. Trust me when I say it’s worth a look!

I also wanted to point out that Guerlain have included ultra-fine light-reflecting pigments in these shadows, to give brighter, more radiant colour, and the packaging is also rather nice! Being a fan of smaller sized palettes that can easily fit in a makeup bag and be transported – these really do tick all the boxes for me. The Palette 5 Coleurs come in an ultra slim black case, which has a handy panoramic mirror on the inside lid, as well as a couple of dinky brushes included too.

guerlain-lart-du-trait-precision-felt-eyeliner

And next we have the gorgeous L’Art Du Trait Precision Felt Eyeliner (£27.00) – this precision eyeliner pen has been designed to be both long-lasting and water-resistant. It features a long, sharp, flexible tip to ensure a precise line, and it has a super fine tip, making thin, fine lines as easy to draw as thicker, graphic lines on the eyes.

The product formula is the blackest black – which is obviously a must in a black eyeliner – and I can confirm that it’s completely smudge proof, so this will now live permanently in my makeup bag 🙂

guerlain-kisskiss-lipsticks-review

And lastly, Guerlain have included two brand new shades of KissKiss Lipsticks (£27.00) to finish off your autumn look. The two new shades are Fall in Nude – the perfect beige nude, and Fall in Red – a delicate rosy red, which have been created specifically to compliment the new eyeshadow tones. These two subtle shades easily adapt to any skin tone or occasion, from midday to midnight.

Beauty: Illamasqua Extinct Collection

Posted on September 22, 2016

illamasqua-extinct-collection

Hi Guys!

I have Illamasqua’s brand new Extinct collection to share with you today – and it’s probably one of my favourites yet. The Extinct collection has been inspired by the natural beauty of insects, the reality of climate change and the fearlessness of punk. It includes iridescent beetle tones, dark glittering purples and fantastic reflective finishes which can be use to create makeup looks that really go outside the box.

The Extinct visual focuses on brave, unique shapes that emphasise the eyes, lips and nails to inspire creativity and push boundaries. This powerful collection provides you with the tools and expertise to create your own kind of beauty that challenges the expected.

illamasqua-demise-palette-review

illamasqua-demise-palette-swatches

Starting with the Demise Palette (£34.00) – I love the name of this palette, it’s so dark and dramatic! This eyeshadow quad contains four intense autumnal shades, perfect for creating a striking smoky eye. Illamasqua have brought back previous shade Gimp, a deep black-blue to include in this palette, but I have to say I’m in love with Interitus, a rich burgundy that’s perfect for this season.

  • Wilt – Red Gold
  • Gimp – Black Blue
  • Lost – White Gold
  • Interitus – Burgundy

illamasqua-pure-pigment-axolotl-review

There’s also a Pure Pigment (£17.50) – this is a finally milled pigment that can be worn alone to softly reflect a translucent blue or layered over a deeper product to give it a 3-D punch. This shade is called Axolotl and though it’s describe as holographic, I wouldn’t say it is. It’s very similar to MAC’s Reflects Teal pigment.

illamasqua-eyeshadow-jubilance-review

illamasqua-eyeshadow-cascade-review

The collection also includes two Powder Eyeshadows (£16.50) – Jubilance first caught my eye, this is a wonderful light copper shade, almost like a shiny penny. It has the most amazing high shine finish, and it’s incredibly soft and easy to apply.

The other shade, Cascade, I thought was just an average white when I first saw it. How wrong I was though! Cascade though innocent looking actually has a luminous blue frost finish that looks pretty awesome when you catch it in the light!

illamasqua-extinct-collection-swatches

Here’s some swatches starting with Jubilance at the top, then Cascade, then Axolotl.

illamasqua-extinct-nail-polish-review

And lastly, I have two Nail Varnishes (£14.50 each) – the Extinct collection offers two exciting shades with high shine finish. Shade Remains is a deep merlot injected with glitter particles and Quagga is a two-toned green that mimics iridescent beetle wings. Illamasqua recommend to wear these over a black polish to intensify the colour, which I’m going to try myself very soon.

The collection also includes a Matte Lip Liquid (£18.50) in shade Exoskeleton – a dusky Plum, and a Gel Liner (£20.00) in shade Quixotic, a deep emerald green.

New In Beauty: Products Worth Checking Out!

Posted on September 13, 2016

new-in-beauty-products-worth-checking-out

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

loccitane-candle

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

clarins-lancome-pur

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

sleek

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

chantecaille-espa

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

loreal-french-girl-body-shop-tea-tree

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

soap-and-glory

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

erborian-w7-kiehls-new

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

Well there we have it, I hope you found this post useful – please do let me know if you have any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts! xxx

The Lipsticks (£17.00) come in four different shades, with frost and lustre finishes for a real sci-fi look! I have Kling-It-On, a sheer purple frost with a fine pink glitter – it’s a really unusual shade that I was initially quite unsure of, but I actually think it looks great on.

  • Kling-It-On deep purple with fine pink glitter (frost)

  • Pleasure Planet – muted gold shimmer
  • Khaaannnn! – berry with red reflect
  • Set to Stun – light silver with gold pearl
  • Warp Speed Ahead – plum with blue and pink reflects

And I also have one of the Superslick Liquid Eyeliner’s (£17.50) – Now I’m personally not the biggest fan of liquid eyeliners, but I absolutely love MAC’s liners and Pure Show really is a must have! It’s a gorgeous shimmery golden shade, and once it dries it literally won’t budge all day.

  • On the Hunt – true black
  • Nocturnal – bright silver pearl

There are also a load more products in the range which are definitely worth checking out –

zoeva-black-box-eyeliner-set

The Black Box contains a selection of four Zoeva eyeliners – of course all are black, but they’re also all very different –

  • Calli Graphic Liquid Eyeliner in Black.
  • Cat Eye Pen in Blackest Black.
  • Graphic Eyes+ in Black to Earth.
  • Soft Kohl Eyeliner in Noir.

zoeva-black-box-eyeliners-review

Starting with the Calli Graphic Black Liquid Eyeliner – Inspired by classic calligraphy, the Calli Graphic Black Liquid Eyeliner promises to achieve pitch black definition – and it really does. The formula is amazingly well pigmented, and gives an intense matte black line. It also has a fine, flexible tip that’s easy to use.

Next the Cat Eye Pen Longlasting Stylo Liner – This is an ultra precise and long-lasting eyeliner pen, that provides smooth and easy application with a superfine and flexible brush tip. You can use the very tip of the pen for the finest line imaginable, or press down slightly for a thicker, more intense line.

And the Graphic Eyes + Black To Earth Waterproof Eyeliner – The powerfully pigmented and waterproof eyeliner pencil combines the smoothness of a liquid liner with the ease of a traditional pen. The formula is amazingly soft, and easy to apply and blend if you wish.

And lastly the Soft Kohl Noir Eyeliner – An essential in every makeup bag, the Soft Kohl Eyeliner was especially designed for effortlessly floating along the inner rim of the waterline, creating instant drama and defining your eyes with its long-lasting formula. This is a fantastic jet black shade that stays put all day.
