Beauty: MAC x Steve J & Yoni P Limited Edition Collection

Posted on June 12, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have another limited edition collection from MAC to share with you today – this time it’s in collaboration with Korean contemporary womenswear designers Steve J and Yoni P – I must admit I hadn’t heard of them before, but after looking them up I’ve pretty much fallen in love with their designs. Think high end casual wear, with an injection of youthful humour and colour…

Korean design duo Steve J. and Yoni P. strike a spunky balance between flirty frills and sporty thrills. Now, the couple introduces a M·A·C collection as cheeky and progressive as their fashion! Pinks, smoky-warm neutrals and playful, graphic packaging tap into the vibe of Seoul street style.

The Steve J & Yoni P Mac collection is quite extensive, including a large range of colour cosmetics as well as brushes and a makeup bag, all featuring a playful limited edition print.

Starting with the Lipstick (£16.50) – there are four lipsticks in this collection in a range of warm hues with two finishes. I have shade Yoni Crush, which is an intense red that’s truly beautiful. This one also has an amplified finish, which is one of my favourite MAC lipstick finishes as it gives fantastically rich colour that feels comfortable and moisturising on the lips. The four shades are –

  • Spotlight Me – light peachy nude (amplified)
  • Yoni Crush – bold orange-red (amplified)
  • Candy Yum-Yum – neon pink (matte)
  • A Killing Smile – bright pinkish red (matte)

I also have this super cute Eyeshadow X2 Duo (£20.00) – there are two sweet little eyeshadow duos available in this collection, I have Touch Me Baby which includes shades Keep on Twinkling, which is a really pretty light frosted pink, and Soba, which is a light brown with a hint of golden shimmer. Both shades are well pigmented, and are very easy to wear, light neutral colours.

And lastly the Lip & Cheek X6 in Yoni Attraction (£36.00) – this special-edition palette includes six varied pink shades for both lips and cheeks. There are five Casual Colour shades for cheeks plus one Lipstick shade –

  • Keep It Loose Casual Colour – warm pink
  • Secret Admirer Casual Colour – bright coral
  • Young at Heart Casual Colour – bright pink
  • Weekend Getaway Casual Colour – cool rose
  • Lazy Sunday Casual Colour – baby pink
  • Show Orchid Lipstick – very hot pink (amplified)

The other products in the collection include –

Zoom Lash (£15.50) in Zoomblack – a rich black.

Studio Eye Gloss (£16.00) in Pearl Varnish – a white gloss with pearl.

Dazzleshadow X2 in Midnight Fever (£20.00) including shades Let’s Boogie (black with sparkles) and Sparkling Moment (black with purple & red sparkles)

Powder Blush (£19.50) in shades Peony Petal – a bright blue-pink (satin) and Sugar or Syrup – a light yellow-pink (satin)

Beauty: NEW MAC Limited Edition Fruity Juicy Collection

Posted on May 25, 2017

Hi Guys!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had anything from MAC on the blog, but I’m back today with some gorgeous products from the new Limited Edition Fruity Juicy Collection.

Think hot summer nights, tanned, glowing skin, and bright warm tones contrasted with sizzling nudes. The Fruity Juicy collection is described as a frootilicious collection of sun-kissed succulence…

Take a sweet vacation of tropical colour for lips and eyes, including the online-exclusive Eye Shadow x 6: Oh My Banana. Featuring special packaging throughout! Love at first bite. Sail away on sweet scent-sation of frootilicious tropical colour. Go bananas in vibrant lipsticks, or zest up your life with Cremesheen Glass and three new Eye Shadow x 6 palettes. Sundream the days away with Bronzing Powders or Pearlmatte Face Powder. Then chase those last rays with Lustre Drops, while the evocative coconut scent of Prep + Prime Fix+ sets the mood for whatever the evening heat may bring.

This collection includes a selection of bronzing and highlighting products perfect for beautiful, glowing skin, including Bronzing Powders, a pretty PearlMatte Face Powder, and Lustre Drops for highlighting, as well as accessories. Unfortunately I don’t have any of these, but I do have a few of the gorgeous colour cosmetics to share with you today –

There are four Lipsticks (£16.50) in the Fruity Juicy collection, including two nude shades and two brights. I have Calm Heat, which is a light nude beige with a matte finish, and Love at First Bite, which is a bright coral toned pink with an amplified finish. I’m in love with Love at First Bite, it’s such a pretty summery shade.

  • Calm Heat – a mid-tone nude (matte)
  • Shy Girl – a creamy neutral coral beige (cremesheen)
  • Love at First Bite – a bright fuchsia (amplified)
  • Si, Si, Me! – a deep violet (satin)

There are also four Cremesheen Glass lip glosses in the collection (£18.00). I have Cha-Cha-Cha which is a mid toned peach. It has a sheer, creamy finish that feels moisturising and nourishing on the lips.

  • Cha-Cha-Cha – a warm peachy pink
  • Shake, Shake, Shake! – a bright apricot orange
  • La Salsa – a soft purple
  • Summer Succulence – a cool beige

Next onto my favourite product, the Eyeshadow Palette – the Fruity Juicy Eyeshadow X6 palettes come in three fun and bright options. Interestingly, the palette is really quite heavy and made of metal, which I haven’t seen before from MAC (but please correct me if I’m wrong). I really like the thin, sleek case, and it also comes with a mirror inside the lid which is a bonus.

I have the Eyeshadow X6 Palette (£24.50) in Fruit a La La, which is just beautiful. I didn’t choose this myself as I was sent it to review, but I’m so glad I received this one. The shades are all warm in tone and intense in pigment, in mostly matte and satin finishes. There’s also a lovely high shimmer copper-orange frost shade included which looks great on the centre of the eyelid.

  • Cocktai Black – a deep brown grey with pearl (satin)
  • Fuchsia Fury – a bright blue pink (satin)
  • Carnal Charm – a bright burnt orange red (matte)
  • Arriba! – a frosty rose (frost)
  • Soleil, So Lovely – a dirty grey nude (matte)
  • Glamour Light – a warm beige (satin)

I’m extremely impressed with these products, the Fruity Juicy Collection is just spot on in terms of my aesthetic and the colour selection is perfectly on trend right now. A couple of items have sold out already, but theres still quite a few products in stock – so be sure to snap then up fast if you’d like to get your hands on some of the collection before is all sells out!

The Fruity Juicy Collection is available now at MAC Cosmetics.

Beauty: Illamasqua May Queen Collection

Posted on May 17, 2017

Hi Guys!

Illamasqua’s brand new collection May Queen has just launched, and it includes an edited selection of colour products for eyes, lips and face, in pretty muted hues, as well as a couple of popping bright shades which are perfect for Spring. I have the lowdown on some of the products for you today…

Hark back to beauty’s folklore, with Illamasqua’s new Spring collection. Beckoning the start of a new season, the May Queen captures the spirit of transformation. Leading the May Day procession away from Winter’s grasp into the rebirth of Spring, her floral crown is the embodiment of hope and prosperity. Use this annual renaissance to excite the imagination. Reincarnate your look. Become your own May Queen.

For the eyes, Illamasqua have included a new Pure Pigment to this collection in shade Muse (£17.50) – this is a beautiful light peach shade with an intense metallic shimmer finish. Due to both the shade and the high shine finish, this product can easily be used as a highlighter on fair to medium skin tones too. I’m looking forward to trying this on my cheekbones!

There are also three new Powder Eyeshadows (£17.00) in this collection. They all have a shimmer finish which looks pretty similar to the finish of the Pure Pigment; it’s a high-shine metallic that catches the sun beautifully. I have shade Invoke, which is described as a ‘zinc bronze shimmer’ and I’m completely in love with it. It’s a taupe bronze that’s easy to wear and will look gorgeous on tanned skin in the summer. The shades available are –

  • Ritual – a pink shimmer.
  • Invoke – a taupe bronze shimmer.
  • Maiden – a soft gold shimmer.

And lastly, I have two new Antimatter Lipsticks (£20.00) – this is my first experience with Illamasqua’s Antimatter lipsticks, and I’m definitely not disappointed. They offer long lasting intense colour, with a comfortable finish that’s a cross between a satin and a matte. The two new shades are Binary, a warm coral, and Charge, a hot pink. Charge feels slightly more satin to me, with Binary having more of a matte finish. Both are creamy and comfortable on the lips, and last for a good few hours before you need to re-apply.

There’s also a new Beyond Powder highlighter in this collection too, in shade Deity (£34.00). Unfortunately I don’t have this but you can Google it if you want to check out swatches. Deity looks like a stunning golden green, and if you like more unusual highlighters I definitely recommend you check it out.

The May Queen collection is available now at Illamasqua.

Beauty: Paul & Joe Limited Edition 15th Anniversary Makeup Collection

Posted on April 28, 2017

Hi Guys!

If you know Paul & Joe beauty, you’ll know they’re all about the cute and kitsch – and of course cats. Their new limited edition 15th anniversary collection has just arrived at TSNC HQ and it’s simply BEAUTIFUL.

The 15th Anniversary Makeup Collection brings together some of Paul and Joe’s best selling beauty products in one handy collectible set – of course featuring their iconic feline design throughout, contrasted on a pretty floral background. The set includes a selection of colours for the eyes in pretty spring shades, as well as a couple of other lovely treats…

The large outer box opens to reveal a pretty pink and gold two tier vanity case, with a flip lid on the top and a drawer below. Paul & Joe haven’t skimped on the details here. The box itself is of high quality and even features a gold cat head as a drawer pull. This could easily be used as a trinket or jewellery box if you so wished.

The top of the case lifts up to reveal a six individual 3D cat shaped eye colours. They all have a pearl finish and come in a range of pretty pastel shades. There’s a mint green, metallic copper brown, shimmery pink, a yellow gold, deep purple and a light pastel pink. They’re so cute and so perfect, I can’t bear to touch them!

In the below drawer, you’ll find a Lipstick in Petit Princess – this is a soft peachy coral shade that was originally seen in the Spring 2012 collection, and of course the bullet has been moulded into a super cute cat head shape with a hat – I would expect nothing less. There’s also a mini Face & Eye Colour Case tin, which opens to reveal an eyeshadow brush and three spaces to house your top three kitty cat pearls from the eye colours, making them both portable an easy to use.

And as if all of this wasn’t enough, the outer box also contains a cat head shaped makeup bag pouch, with a floral cream and pink pattern to match the design on the vanity case.

In my opinion this is a collection to be loved and cherished, and definitely not used (even though everything included is of course fully functional). This collection has been designed to the finest detail to make it as special, and precious as possible. As a child that always collected ‘special things’, like little trinkets and shiny stones, and kept them safe in a little tin – so this collection just really appeals to me. This is a truly stunning set that makeup collectors will absolutely love. I just want to sit and look at the cats forever!

The Paul & Joe Anniversary makeup Collection is £55.00 and available at ASOS now.

Beauty: Stila Glitter Underground Collection

Posted on February 14, 2017

Hi Guys!

When it comes to glitter makeup, you must admit that historically it hasn’t really been known for its quality. From the spray on hair and body glitter of the 90’s (I’ve been there and I have no regrets) to glitter nail polish and sparkly lip glosses, it all has a child-like quality that’s cute and fun, but not necessarily known for being the highest standard of cosmetics.

This is where Stila comes in with their new Glitter Underground collection for SS17, which is inspired by the fabulous glitzy glamour of the ’70’s disco era. This collection is full of rich warm tones, with high quality metallic and glitter infused finishes. These products are all about grown up glamour, in warm shades of golds, coppers, browns and purples.

Starting with the Matte N Metal Eye Shadow Palette (£39.00) – this is a twelve colour eye palette with a mixture of matte and metallic shadows. Very similar to Stila’s popular Eyes Are The Windows Palette in Soul, this palette isn’t what I’d call groundbreaking in terms of the shade selection, but though I say this the shades are very lovely, as well as being highly pigmented and easy enough to wear in terms of colour on a daily basis. If you’re in need of a new go-to palette this one is definitely worth checking out. The shades are as follows –

  • Vintage – A matte, neutral pink.
  • Velvet – Matte pale pink.
  • Feathered – Matte pale sand.
  • Fringe – Matte light taupe shade.
  • Suede – Matte mauve pink.
  • Velour – Matte warm tan.
  • Bohemian – A metallic pewter.
  • Retro – Rose gold metallic.
  • Sequin – Metallic gold.
  • Smolder – Smoky metallic gunmetal.
  • Sizzle – Metallic rosy copper.
  • Flare – Cool bronze metallic.

The Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow (£23.00) is definitely my favourite product from the collection. This is a high-shine metallic, liquid formula eyeshadow that’s infused with SO much glitter. The formula is super light and applies effortlessly to the lids, leaving a stunning shimmery finish that catches the light beautifully. It’s worth noting that this product also gives pretty much zero fallout – which is always an issue when working with glitters. This is available is eight beautiful shades –

  • Rose Gold Retro – A shimmering rose gold and silver.
  • Kitten Karma – A copper toned champagne with flecks of silver.
  • Smouldering Satin – Deep tan with silver.
  • Diamond Dust – Sheer silver & multicolour.
  • Gold Goddess – Antique gold & silver.
  • Smoky Storm – Pewter & silver.
  • Molten Midnight – Black, silver & gold.
  • Bronzed Bell – Deep bronze with silver.

Stila have also introduced five new shades of their Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (£16.00) into this collection. In case you’re not familiar with these, the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick is a fantastic long lasting matte liquid lipstick that’s designed to last for up to six hours of wear.

I have shade Perla from the new collection, and I’m absolutely in love with it! Perla is described as a soft rosy nude, and it’s just the prettiest muted nude pink shade that’s really easy to wear for fair to medium skin tones. The formula offers amazing pigmentation whilst feeling lightweight and comfortable – and this is the type of liquid lipstick that won’t budge once it’s on. The new shades available are –

  • Angelo – A soft peachy nude.
  • Biscotti – Taupe Brown.
  • Notte – Blackberry.
  • Perla – Soft rosy nude.
  • Rubino – Deep red.

Stilla also have a range of three Heavens Hue Highlighters (£28.00) – these are ultra-fine highlighters designed to give skin a natural glow. I have shade Bronze which though lovely, is way too dark for my complexion. If you have a darker skin tone though I think this could look stunning. These come in three shades –

  • Transcendence – Opalescent pink.
  • Kitten – Shimmering nude pink.
  • Bronze – Radiant sun-kissed shimmer.

And lastly, there’s the Glitterati Lip Top Coat (£18.00) – this is a shimmering top coat for application over matte lipsticks. I don’t have a sample of this but I did try one at the event and they look absolutely mesmerising! I know this sounds a bit OTT but this top coat has a really thin watery consistency, which you can see swishing around in the tube and it just looks amazing (sorry I’m easily excited by glittery things) – these basically add a glitter top coat to your matte lipsticks, without a having glossy finish.

  • Transcend – Transparent pink with multi-coloured sparkle.
  • Ignite – Transparent berry sparkle.

I’ve already shared swatches on my Instagram Stories, but if you missed this and would like to see swatches of anything above please do let me know and I’ll be more than happy to share.

Stila’s Glitter Underground Collection is available now at StilaBeauty Bay and ASOS.

Beauty: Paul & Joe SS17 Limited Edition Collection

Posted on February 8, 2017

Hi Guys!

I thought I’d follow the beautiful Penhaligon’s fragrance from earlier today with some equally beautiful makeup for you to feast your eyes on this evening.

You probably know by now that I’m a complete sucker for pretty packaging. If it’s cute, colourful, sparkly, weird or just plain unusual then I need it in my life. So quite obviously Paul & Joe’s makeup range ticks all the boxes for me – and when some samples of their new SS17 collection arrived at TSNC HQ last week, I actually squealed with delight! (I mean I literally did. If you saw my Instagram Stories that day you’ll have seen how happy I was!)

The Face & Eye Colour Palette (£25.00) is easily the stand out product in the limited edition SS17 collection. I wasn’t really sure what it was exactly when I saw the outer packaging which said ‘Eye and Cheek CS’, but on opening it up I found literally THE CUTEST little box inside, with the sweetest cat print on top, and a pouffy ‘cat paw’ applicator on a stick, adorned with a sweet little bow. I mean these cats are wearing glasses and ties, what’s not to love!? This is most definitely the most adorable makeup product I’ve ever seen.

The box opens to reveal a stunning eye and cheek palette in the shape of a cat, with a background of white hearts. There are three options to choose from, and the one I have is shade 109 Mon Petit Chat. Personally I would say this is more of a collectors item, rather than a makeup product you’d actually use – that’s just because I hoard pretty things though 🙂 The shades available are –

  • 107 Smitten Kitten – Terracotta and deep rosy red.
  • 108 Poupounette – Shimmering orange bronze and pink.
  • 109 Mon Petit Chat – Bright and dusky pinks.

Fans of the brand will know that Paul & Joe are ALL about the cats. Cats and flowers and cute quirky patterns. And their cat head lipsticks are definitely another must have product. I should also mention here that many of Paul & Joe’s products come in separate parts and are interchangeable. So for the lipsticks you can buy individual outer cases with separate lipstick bullet refills, and mix and match as you please.

Their spring print Lipstick Cases (£7.00) come in three options, and I have the Bold Flower print one above. And the individual Lipstick Refills (£14.00) for this season come in two colour options with a 3D cat face tip –

  • 103 Russian Blue – Clear coloured lipstick that turns slightly different shades of pink on different skin.
  • 104 Persian Pink – Bright pop of pink.

And lastly the Eye Colour Trio (£23.00) – again the actually trio of eyeshadows comes as a separate component to the Compact Case (£7.00) that you put them in. This dinky little eyeshadow trio comes in three different options for SS17. The shadows are highly pigmented and smooth on application, and the mini size of the palette means it’s perfect for throwing in your makeup bag when you’re on the go. The shades available are –

  • Mon Prince – Naturals, light pink, purple and red brown.
  • Mon Nounours – Salmon pink, gunmetal and black.
  • Mon Coeur – Golden sand, bright light pink and deep pink.

The empty outer Compact Cases will also fit any of Paul & Joes other eyeshadow trios or blushers, and come in three super cute designs. I think you can guess which one I have –

  • Floral – White and grey stripes with a floral pattern.
  • Swallows – Swallows on a light blue background.
  • Bold Flowers – White with a black, red and blue floral design.

Paul & Joe Cosmetics are available at Beauty Bay and ASOS, and both sites have sales on Paul & Joe right now so make sure you take a look!

Beauty: New Makeup Worth Checking Out – Feat. New CID Cosmetics, Chantecaille, Lancome & More

Posted on February 6, 2017

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! I’ve gathered a few products together today that I really think are worth checking out. There are a couple of brands such as New CID Cosmetics and Suqqu that I’ve included specifically today as you don’t really hear much about them, but the do make some fantastic products – enjoy!

Ok so starting with New CID Cosmetics, the New CID Cosmetics i-Gloss Light Up Lip Gloss (£19.50 at Feelunique) is such a fun product – I mean who could resist a lip gloss with an automatic light in the lid, and a mirror on the side? And this shade, Moonstone is such a beautiful pearlescent pink – it’s great as a gloss on its own, or also as a lip topper worn over a liquid lipstick.

The Limited Edition i-groom Eyebrow Grooming Pencil and Brush (£19.50 at Feelunique) is another great product, this is a sleek looking, simple yet effective wind up brow pencil, with a spoolie brush at the opposite end. It creates a fine, sharp line that’s perfect for drawing on natural looking brows, without looking too heavy.

And the i-Prime Mini (£16.00 at Feelunique) – this is a mini 10ml primer, perfect for keeping in your on-the-go makeup bag. The formula is a lightweight serum including Shea Butter and Vitamin E to help blur imperfections, leaving skin looking radiant and beautiful.

Next I have a few products from Rodial – firstly their new Baking Powder (£29.00 at Rodial) – this is is perfect for those that like to do a full on makeup routine and ‘bake’ their face to set their base. This is a silky smooth loose powder that mattifies skin to give it a creamy, suede soft-focus finish whilst blurring imperfections. Simply apply this loose setting powder over your concealer or foundation, leave to warm on skin for 10-15 minutes and dust off the excess – easy.

And Rodial have also introduced their new Baking Brush (£40.00 at Rodial) to go with the above powder. This brush has been specifically designed with soft, dense hairs to allow for easy application of loose powder. It’s also the ideal tool for buffing and dusting off excess powder so you can achieve a flawless matte finish to your complexion.

Rodial also have a new Instaglam Compact Deluxe Highlighting Powder in 02 (£52.00 at Rodial) – this is a beautiful creamy textured highlighting powder, in a light champagne shade. It contains soft powders and refined pearls which are blended together to create a beautiful creamy powder with an iridescent finish.

Continuing with highlighters, I also wanted to include the Estee Edit Flash Illuminator Fluid Powder (£22.00 at Selfridges) – this is very similar to the Rodial highlighter above but this one is slightly more gold / peach toned. It would be great for light to medium skin tones and has a lovely smooth almost creamy texture that’s really flattering when applied to the top of the cheekbones especially.

And for a more budget friendly highlighter option, the Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in Starlight (£9.99 at Boots) is definitely worth checking out. If you’re looking for a slightly deeper, more golden highlight, this stick formula has a wonderfully smooth consistency, and leaves the skin glowing with a golden sheen.

I also have a couple of the (fairly) new Lancome Cushion Blushers (£29.00 at Lancome) – these cushion blushers are perfect for giving the complexion a fresh, dewy glow. You only need a tiny amount to give a pretty flush to the skin, and the formula also offers intense hydration, and the cushion sponge allows you to easily build the intensity of the colour to suit your preference.

If you’re looking for a new eyeshadow palette, the Smith & Cult Book of Eyes Eyeshadow Palette (£34.00 at Beauty Bay) is one to add to your to-try list. There are four different quads available and I have Interlewd which contains some really pretty soft pinks and rich purple shades.

Or for single eyeshadows, the Chantecaille Mermaid Eyeshadow in Hematite (£29.00 at Space NK) is simply stunning. This is a crease-proof and water resistant product that can be worn either wet or dry and used an eye shadow or as an eyeliner. The formula is also infused with an anti-aging silk tree extract that helps lift the upper eyelid for a more youthful looking eye area.

And the Suqqu Extra Glow Lipstick (£23.00 at Selfridges) – Japanese cult brand Suqqu is another that you don’t see much of, but definitely worth a mention. Their Extra Glow Lipstick contains a blend of seven nourishing oils for long-lasting moisture, and creates the appearance of plumper lips with a natural sheen.

And going back to eyes, the Smith & Cult B-Line Eye Pen (£21.00 at Beauty Bay) is a richly pigmented, felt pen liner that’s both smudge-proof and waterproof. This innovative precision, felt tipped liner applies seamlessly along the lash-line giving highly pigmented colour with a quick drying finish. If you’re looking for a new pen style eyeliner I’d definitely recommend you check this one out.

For those looking to cover their dark circles, the Know Cosmetics No Dark Shadows Concealer in Wow (£15.00 at Superdrug) is just the product for the job. This is a multipurpose under eye concealer designed to conceal imperfections and dark circles, as well as highlight the complexion. This is available in two shades – Wow (rosy tone) and Pizazz (yellow tone) and offers medium coverage which is both long lasting and moisturising.

And back to Suqqu, their Gel Eyeliner (£20.00 at Selfridges) is a super thin 2mm precision tipped pencil eyeliner with a texture that seems to melt onto the skin, creating a wonderfully smooth and delicate line. This is perfect for those looking for a subtle and fine lined eyeliner.

You’ll probably notice I haven’t included many lip products today – when I was getting everything together I realised there are LOADS of amazing lip products that have recently launched, so I’ll be publishing a separate post just on them very soon.

I’d love to hear what you think? Have you tried any of these products yourself? I decided not to include swatches as I took some and they just weren’t doing the products justice. If you’d like to see swatches of anything though please do let me know and I’ll be happy to share on Insta Stories 🙂
