Posted on August 14, 2015

Hi Guys!

You should know by now that I love a good giveaway, and I’ve got an extra special one for you today, just because it’s Friday 🙂

It’s not exactly beauty related, but I hope you’ll be excited none the less – today I’m giving away a pair of tickets for Festival No. 6 as well as a pre-pitched tent. These have a total prize value of £520!

festival no.6 2

If you haven’t heard of Festival No.6, it sounds completely amazing. Based in Wales, and very much off the beaten track, Festival No. 6 prides itself on offering a unique, bespoke line up, as well as plenty of other exciting activities and attractions.

Last year Festival No.6 won Line Up of the Year at the UK Festival Awards as well as Best Festival and Most Unique Festival Site. Bands, DJs, musicians and string ensembles will be playing in every available space, from the historic town hall to the Castell gardens, from dance tents overlooking the white sandy bay to the picturesque Estuary Stage. The diverse bill will range from rock’n’roll to house, balearic to folk, seashanties to Welsh male choirs.

(Take a look here to check out a fun quiz where you can find out what sort of festival-goer you are!)

The amazing lineup includes Metronomy, Grace Jones, Belle & Sebastian, Mark Ronson, and my absolute favourite group at the moment, Years and Years!

Arts and Culture is also an integral part of Festival No.6. In and around the village, unique venues like the Piazza, Town Hall, Estuary Stage and the magical Gwllyt woods play home to a range of bespoke performances. Portmeirion comes alive with intimate readings and talks, exclusive film screenings with live soundtracks, stand up comedy, art trails through the woods, storytelling in clearings, pop up theatre and installations.

And there’s still so much more to do!

Alongside the award winning music and culture programme, there is a myriad of unique and intriguing experiences found within Number 6. Paddle Board on the Estuary, take a dip in the pool, or embrace the many activities on offer throughout Gwyllt Woods such as woodland walks, foraging or the Pirate Workshop for kids and become an active component within Carnival Number 6. Emerge yourself fully in everything that Number 6 has on offer and your weekend will be far richer for it…

And not forgetting the food…

Festival No.6 offers a handpicked tantalising food menu for all tastes. Replace standard festival lager with proper real ale and a pulled pork sandwich while watching your favourite band. Festival Fashion Inspiration with Lyst.co.uk

lyst festival wishlist

Hi Guys!

I have to admit, I an officially the queen of procrastination. I can while away hours on Pinterest looking at pretty pictures and tutorials and pinning until the early hours, if you’ve used the site you’ll know the addiction is very real. But I’ve now discovered a brand new distraction site – Lyst.co.uk. It basically offers a unique shopping experience where you can create wish lists (or lysts) for anything and everything where it comes to fashion and accessories.

So how does it work? Well you might want to make a lyst to plan an outfit if you have something particular mind, so you just search for what you’re looking for and start adding the items you like to your lysts, it’s as simple as that! Or if you’re like me, you might just like looking at gorgeous clothes and accessories and creating wish lists! It’s also worth mentioning that the site coveres a whole range of brands, from high end designers like Burberry and Valentino, to easily accessible high street brands such as ASOS and Topshop.

I’ve been playing around with the site for a little while and used it to come up with a ‘Festival Fashion’ lyst. I’m in love with the beautiful Diane von Furstenberg Pink Ombre Silk Kaftan and the Madewell Arrow Flip Necklace especially, and both are included in the image above. DVF is a bit out of my price range unfortunately, but the Madewell necklace is well within what I can afford at only £36, and I never would have come across it if it wasn’t for this site!

What I love is that Lyst.co.uk has made me aware of so many more brands and companies than I ever knew existed, and one of the best things is if you add something to one of your lysts and it’s out of stock, you will also be alerted via email when that item comes back in stock, or even if one of your choices goes on sale – which is super handy if you have your eye on something specific.

If you love fashion and discovering new things, I’d highly recommend you check out Lyst.co.uk!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Festival-Collection1

Hi Guys!

For those that know me, you’ll know I love anything bright, loud and as crazy as possible. I actually went out in a neon orange kimono to a Hen party on saturday night, and my ‘galaxy cats’ dress, it was immense! Anyway, as soon as I heard that Models Own latest collection had a festival theme and was based around the brightest colours you could imagine, I couldn’t wait to try some of these exciting new products out! The Festival Collection consists of four outrageously bright capsule collections, including nail polishes, coloured hair sprays, face paints and lipsticks, all in louder than life neon and dazzling metallic shades. They sound right up my street!

There are five Festival Lipsticks to choose from, which come in a range of bright reds, pinks, oranges and one light pink shade. I have Daisy Chain which is a super light baby pink shade and Gone Glamping, an intense bright pink. Daisy Chain is definitely the hardest shade to wear as it’s so light, it’s also very matte so you’ll need to make sure your lips are in tip top condition before applying this one. Gone Glamping is slightly more forgiving in terms of formula, it wasn’t quite as matte, but still had fantastic pigmentation. I love this colour! These shades are both highly pigmented and long lasting, and they’re only £4.99 each which is a complete bargain!

There are also five Festival Nail Polish shades in this collection including four ‘main’ colours (which are all neons) and one glitter top coat. I have Purple Bandana, which is a neon purple shade, and the Colour Explosion top coat. Purple Bandana is a gorgeous opaque neon purple, it applies like a dream and I just love the vibrancy of this colour. The Colour Explosion top coat has a clear base with yellow, orange, blue and holographic hexes suspended through the bottle. Again I love this, it works really well on top of Purple Bandana and I think it would look great on darker nail polish shades too.

The Festival Face Paints are just amazing. (I was going to insert some pictures here from Magaluf 2008 where my friends and I had lots of fun with neon body paints just like these, but I decided better of it – I’m sure you can imagine!) These body paints are a first for Models Own and come in neon pink, orange and yellow, and metallic silver and gold shades. They paints are packaged in handy little squeezy tubes so you can apply them direct to the face and body, and these really are the brightest colours ever. I can’t wait to use them when I go to Radio 1’s One Big Weekend in May!

And lastly there’s the Festival Coloured Hair Spray. Another first for Models Own, the coloured hair spray comes in four neon shades – pink, blue, orange and violet. It’s highly pigmented so you can create some super colourful looks, but don’t worry, they wash out so you can start all over again the next day 🙂

The Festival collection is available from £3.99 at Models Own and Superdrug stores.

I’d love to hear what you think of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Summer Festival Survival With Kiehl’s‏ & Zara Martin

kiehls-festival-survival

I’m one of those people that has a love / hate relationship with festivals. I love the idea of a festival, the sunshine, the music, the atmosphere, but I’m not a big fan of the reality, which can be summed up with one word – portaloos. I went to the Isle of Wight Festival a few years ago, and despite my dislike for all things grubby, I have to say it was actually fantastic. Yes there were rather unsavoury portaloos, yes the food prices were extortionate and yes we had incredibly noisy neighbours in the tent next to us. But I actually wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was all part of the experience and I had the time of my life!

I also managed to burn my armpits. Yes you read that correctly, I burnt my armpits. We were chilling out in the arena, and it was in fact the hottest day of the year (of course) so I covered myself in suncream. Being super fair I’m always careful in the sun. What I didnt bank on though, was falling asleep, on my back with my arms folded behind my head, exposing my pits to the full midday sun. Excellent. You can imagine how it felt when I woke up. (Oh yes and thank you lovely friends for waking me up, eventually!) I then realised just how sensitive your pits really are! What an idiot!! Lesson learned though. And with this delightful experience in mind, I’ve put together a few skincare survival tips for those of you heading off to festivals this summer…

1. Use sun protection. Everywhere. See above for good reasons.

2. Take wipes. If you’re a seasoned festival goer then this needs no explanation, if not then be prepared to get very grubby very quickly. Most festivals have shower facilities now but you will need to queue for a looong time just to get a quick wash, so wipes are super handy for keeping clean in the meantime.

3. Stay hydrated. I’m talking abut your body as well as your skin. You’re going to be outside for most of the day, and especially if you’re not used to it be sure to drink plenty of water and keep skin moisturised.

4. Remove Makeup Properly. I’m a big fan of festival makeup, I love the bright colours, glitter, face paints, everything like that. Just remember to remove it all before you go to sleep – your skin will thank you for it in the long run.

5. Don’t skimp on skincare. Just ’cause you’re roughing it in a field for a couple of nights doesn’t mean your skincare routine needs to go completely out the window! Luckily Kiehls have you covered for every eventuality with their Festival Survival Kit, it contains a selection of must-have products to survive not only the hectic festival scene but also perfect for lounging on a beach or beating the heat in the city. Here’s what’s included in the set –

Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer (75ml) – This is a stress-minimizing daily hydrator that combats the appearance of the visible signs of stress on the skin such as fatigued, dull-looking skin and uneven skin tone.

Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector (30ml) – This lightweight formulation instantly refines the appearance of skin texture and minimises the appearance of pores for improved skin quality.

Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 (60ml) – This ultra light formula intensely moisturizes the skin and utilizes a high level of sun filters to provide the skin with effective UVA and UVB broad-spectrum sunscreen protection. It also helps protect against the appearance of dark sports and wrinkles, and is safe for sensitive skin.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser (75ml) – This gentle, pH-balanced liquid cleanser produces a foaming lather that cleanses skin of excess oils, dirt and debris. It’s formulated for all skin types, will not over-dry or strip skin of natural moisture and is tested for safety and gentleness.

Kiehl’s Creme De Corps (30ml) This all over body moisturiser is enriched with the finest ingredients known to Kiehl’s, and continued use for 10 days will improve the skin texture. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps is the most hydrating body moisturizer in the Kiehl’s line.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (4ml) This instantly replenishes skin with moisture and contains 99.8% naturally derived Ingredients. Use at night to wake up with radiant skin.

This lovely bunch of products come in a handy zipped bag, and even though the set is on the expensive side, it really does include everything you need whether your going to a festival or on holiday. I’m really excited to be going to Radio One’s Big Weekend in Norwich this year! Luckily for me there’s no camping as it’s just a day event, but I’ll be sure to take my Kiehls’ products with me 🙂

The Kiehl’s Summer Festival Survival Kit is £94.00 and available now from Kiehl’s.

I’d love to hear if you’re going to a festival this year? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
