Hair: The Beautiful Miranda Wig from Joseph’s Wigs

Posted on April 27, 2017

Hi Guys!

You may or may not know by now that I regularly wear wigs – I know I don’t often share pictures of myself, but when I do I’m usually wearing a wig. I love them! It’s been a while since I’ve tried any new ones though, and I always seem to gravitate towards the same ones in my collection. So when Joseph’s Wigs asked if I’d like to review one of their wigs, of course I jumped at the chance.

They have a great selection available, but I went for the Miranda Wig by Amore at Renee of Paris as it just looked so effortless and natural…

Well I have to say it didn’t disappoint when it arrived! The Miranda wig was just as beautiful as I was hoping, and I’m SO happy with how well made it is – it literally needed no styling and zero effort. With this wig you can just throw it on in under a minute and you’re ready to go.

I should probably point out that some wigs require a lot of work before you wear them – they might need cutting, styling, adjusting etc. All I did with this before wearing it was spray a bit of dry shampoo through the lengths, which helps to dull down any shine so it looks more like real hair.

This wig comes with a wefted back and sides and a double monofilament top, which basically means the parting isn’t set in one place, and you can move around it to suit your style. I love that it’s so versatile and and the monofilament top also makes it look very realistic as it allows the hair to fall more naturally.

The cap itself is very lightweight, and made of soft, breathable materials. If you haven’t worn a wig before, they can really make your head quite hot, so it’s important that the cap is as light as possible. You can also adjust the sides on the inside of the cap for a really snug fit – there’s no chance of this falling off!

You can see the style is long and layered, and doesn’t feel heavy at all. And considering the hair is non-human, it really is fantastic quality, both in terms of the texture and the colour. There are a massive 24 shades to choose from for the Miranda wig, and I went with Toasted Brown which is a lovely warm toned light brown, with natural looking highlights.

You can probably tell by now that I’m absolutely thrilled with my new wig – I think it might be my new favourite! I’d love to hear what you think? And do let me know if you’d be interested to see more wig reviews on TSNC moving forward. I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

New In Beauty: Products Worth Checking Out!

Posted on September 13, 2016

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

Well there we have it, I hope you found this post useful – please do let me know if you have any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts! xxx

Introducing the NEW Kardashian Beauty Hair Range

Posted on February 6, 2016

Hi Guys!

When it comes to the Kardashians, I must admit I find them to be a bit of a guilty pleasure. I would absolutely say I’m not interested in them to anyone that asked me, that I’m not bothered about what they do, what makeup Kylie is wearing, or what outfit Kim is posting on Instagram… but the problem is that I can’t not look. The fact is as much as I don’t want to admit it, I AM interested. I will click on that clickbait magazine link to see what the new shades in Kylies lip range look like, just out of curiosity. And I will click on that link to see what dress Kim is wearing. And that my friend, is the Kardashian effect.

So it was no surprise to me when I heard about the first hair range launched by three of the uber glamorous Kardashian sisters. Kim, Kourtney and Khloe – who are the faces of the range as well as ambassadors. The three sisters have had their own input into the products, as well as testing and approving the collection themselves.

The Kardashian Beauty Hair range utilises the sisters access to luxury ingredients, creating a prestige product range with high quality formulas at surprisingly accessible prices. The products are priced from £5.50 for a comb up to a reasonable to £11.50 for their K-Body Volume Foam.

I have a few of the products to show you today, including the Volume Foam, Blow Dry Cream and a small sample of the Black Seed dry Oil.

The Volume Foam comes in a massive bottle holding 284g of product, and it promises to give your hair an all-over boost without weighing it down. It contains nourishing Black Seed Oil and volumising proteins to provide strength and elasticity to thicken and lift even the finest of hair.

My hair is super fine and it’s a complete pain to do anything with. I’m always on the hunt for products that give volume and make my hair feel thicker – without giving that heavy, clumpy feeling you can often get with thickening products. So, the Volume Foam sounded perfect for me. I followed the instructions and applied a small amount to damp hair, focussing on the roots, and it really did give my hair a boost of volume and lift.

The Smooth Styler Blow Dry Cream is a light styling and smoothing cream made to restore shine and beautifully finish your style. Again, formulated with Black Seed Oil, this cream combines intense moisture with a light hold, helping eliminate frizz and tame flyways while protecting against humidity and heat styling damage.

Similar to the Volume Foam, you apply this to damp hair before blow drying. I was pretty cautious and used quite a small amount, and it worked really well! My hair felt super smooth and sleek after I’d blow dried, without a flyaway in sight!

And lastly the Black Seed Dry Oil – this is easily the stand out product for me, apart from the amazing scent, this wonder treatment is also a styling product packed full of nutrients to nourish hair from within, leaving it looking glossy, strong, and full of volume. I love that the formula is super lightweight and easily absorbed. This is a fantastic all-rounder product that’s perfect for daily use. I’ve used this a few times now and it always leaves my hair feeling sleeker, stronger and beautifully shiny.

I’m really pleasantly surprised with these products, they all worked well on my fine hair – as well as smelling SO good, but the Black Seed Dry Oil is definitely a must have in my books!

The Kardashian Beauty Hair Range is available now exclusively at Cloud 10 Beauty.

Sponsored: 10 Top Tips For Using Dry Shampoo

Posted on September 19, 2015

Hi Guys!

In my opinion, dry shampoo is one of the best beauty inventions in recent years. Previously you only had two options for greasy hair: wash it, or put up with it until you get an opportunity to wash it. But now I love that you can get away with an extra day by just spraying some dry shampoo on! It’s also handy that dry shampoo is so universal, it’s not just for reviving greasy hair. You can use it to add volume, or add texture to hair to help hold your styles in place.

With this in mind I’ve put together a list of 10 top tips for using dry shampoo. I hope you find them useful!

1. Ok so the point of dry shampoo is because you don’t have time / can’t be bothered to wash your hair, and you want it to look decent enough so you can go out in public, right? So my first tip is to stop touching your hair! Grease, oils and sweat from your hands will transfer to your hair and just add to that lovely oil slick you’re trying to cover up.

2. If you’re organised enough and know you won’t have time in the morning to wash your hair, apply dry shampoo the night before. This gives the shampoo all night to soak up any grease, leaving you with a fresh looking barnet in the morning.

3. For easy, effective and most importantly fast dry shampoo application, part your hair into sections and spray it in at the roots, then just rub in with clean fingers and brush out. Simple!

4. On the other hand, if you have the time I’d also recommend not to rush! Once you’ve sprayed your dry shampoo on, wait up to five minutes if you can. This gives the shampoo time to absorb the oils in your hair. Brushing your hair through after also removes most of the shampoo, so don’t forget to give your hair a good once over with the brush to remove the oil soaked shampoo.

5. If you have a fringe, dry shampoo can keep it from sticking to your forehead and separating throughout the day. Spraying a small amount of dry shampoo on the under side of your fringe only will keep your hair from picking up and sticking to any oil on your forehead.

6. If you’re planning a fancy up-do, spray your bobby pins with dry shampoo before using them. This will give them some added grip to help prevent them slipping out of your hair. Your ‘do should then stay in place all evening 🙂

7. If you’re into backcombing, dry shampoo is definitely your saviour. Just spray some dry shampoo onto the section you’re working with before backcombing to add volume as well as hold.

8. Dry shampoo is also perfect for adding texture and preventing hair from falling flat. A spritz of dry shampoo can make hair easier to work with, especially if you’re trying to achieve a particular style.

9. On that note, to help with volume and texture, flip your head upside down before application. Spray your dry shampoo in at the roots and gently massage in. Apart from soaking up excess oils, this will add volume and texture to the root area, making your hair big, bouncy, and easier to style when you’re the right way up.

10. Did you know dry shampoo is also a great alternative to hairspray? If you’re looking for a light hold you can run your fingers through, without the stiffness of a hairspray, definitely give it a try.

Posted on November 20, 2014

Hi Guys!

Following on from the totally amazing Harvey Nichols limited edition Glossybox, I received a surprise parcel in the post, which happened to be November’s Glossybox! I’m sure you’ve heard of Glossybox but just incase you haven’t, it’s a monthly subscription box containing a mixture of full sized and trial size beauty products. You can buy a one off box for £10, or subscribe which works out less per month depending on which subscription option you choose.

Here’s what’s in November’s box –

  • Umberto Giannini Miracle Worker (125ml full size) £8
  • Monu Skincare Refining Capri Facial Oil (30ml sample) worth £7.80
  • H20+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment (8ml sample) worth £4.40
  • Lollipops Makeup Eye Pencil (full size) £11.18
  • Burt’s Bees Lip Shine (full size) £6.99

Total value of box – £38.37

I think this box contains a great mixture of products, I imagine there would definitely be at least a couple of items everyone would be happy with. My personal favourite is the H20+ Hydrating Treatment, I’ve used this once and it’s really soothed my super dry skin. I’m also a big fan of Monu products and I love the super cute packaging of the Lollipops Eyeliner! I’ve never heard of this brand before, I’ve just taken a look at their site and I love the look of the products, they kind of remind me of Paul & Joe cosmetics, I hope Glossybox will be including them in future boxes! I also think it’s great that Glossybox have included three full size items in this box, I’m really impressed!

I should also mention that November’s box contained a ‘Best Secret’ invitation card with a £20 voucher. Best secret is a site similar to Secret Sales, where you can grab loads of designer bargains! I’m going to take a good look around the site when I get a chance!

I hope you enjoyed my review, I’d love to hear what you think? xxx

Autumn Hair Styles with ghd & LauraJaneStyle

Posted on October 4, 2014

Hi Guys!

Well autumn is most definitely upon us, and apart from the excitement of new makeup shades hitting the shelves, what about trying some new hair styles too!? I invited Laura from LauraJaneStyle over to mine for some girly time – I was desperate for some hair inspiration and thought we could have a little photo sesh while we were playing hairdressers! Firstly we used the ghd V Coral Professional Styler to straighten – this styler is officially the prettiest electrical hair product I’ve ever seen! I have the Coral version (which has £10 going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity) which is from the new Bird of Paradise Limited Edition collection.

The Coral Professional styler is a lovely pink colour fading into orange and comes with a coordinating ombre heat resistant mat. Here’s a bit more info about it –

  • It has advanced ceramic heat technology for enhanced shine and versatile style.
  • Smooth, contoured, floating plates with a gloss finish for salon shine and snag-free styling
  • Sleep mode: switches off if not used for 30 minutes
  • Universal voltage for consistent performance when travelling
  • Round barrel to create perfect curls and waves
  • Professional-length 2.7m power cable

I put in my amazing Hairtrade extensions and then straightened my hair. I can’t believe how fast the styler heated up, I’ve never used ghd products before so I was like WOW! My hair is also really fine so I find it quite difficult to style by myself but luckily I had my personal hairdresser to hand (Laura) who helped me create some pretty autumn looks 🙂

ghd-hair-straighteners-2 autumn-hair-style

Firstly we have the ‘half up half down’ messy look. Here’s how it’s done –

Lightly tease the top of your hair, loosely gather the sides and bring to the back, push up slightly on your crown to create some volume before pinning with grips. For a more messy approach pull slightly on both the sides and top to create some fall out.

And next the messy bun –

Split your hair into three sections, starting with the middle tie into a pony tail and plait. Twirl round the base of the pony tail to form a small bun. Plait both sides and loosely twirl around middle bun, pinning sections as you go. Remember mess is the key, so don’t waste time perfecting it, just grab, twirl pin and go!

I love both of these looks so much, and when my other half came home he told me I looked pretty, aww! I couldn’t have done this post without the help of my amazing chum Laura, I’ve added one of the pics of Laura’s hair above, but please check out her own post for more pics and info. She’s also coming up to her blog’s first anniversary, which will be celebrated with a giveaway, so make sure you give her a follow so you don’t miss out!

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear if you have any hair style ideas for autumn? xxx

Eat Yourself to Healthy Hair + Giveaway!

Posted on October 3, 2014

Hair is the one thing you wear every day and it’s no wonder that people spend lots of money to make sure it is looking its best. While it’s nice to splurge on a beautiful haircut every now and then, there is so much more out there that can do wonders for your hair to keep it looking healthy and strong.

Eating nuts is not only important for your hair but also for your skin. Walnuts should be at the top of your list as they contain a healthy dose of omega-3, vitamin E and copper. Vitamin E is perfect to protect your hair against sun damage and copper helps to maintain your natural colour. This means that you’ll be able to keep your gorgeous brunette hair looking vibrant and fresh. They are also so easy to eat too so switch your afternoon treat for a handful of mixed nuts or add them to your salad or pasta.

3% of your hair is made up of the fatty acids contained in omega-3 but it’s not something that your body actually produces. Omega-3 found in salmon, mackerel and walnuts, contain the same oils as the natural ones found in your scalp and hair. This means that consuming more omega-3 in your diet will make your hair feel more hydrated.

Hair is essentially made of protein so food like eggs, fish, Greek yoghurt and chicken work wonders for your locks. The protein within these foods help to replace the hair that sheds naturally, keeping it strong and moisturised. Eggs are one of the best types of food to eat as they contain biotin and vitamin B12 which assists with hair regrowth. Rather than growing new hair, biotin renews the hair currently growing, making them much stronger. You can also try applying a raw beaten egg to your hair for a bit of added protein.

Iron & Vitamin C

Chicken not only provides a good dose of protein, it also contains iron which helps to get blood supply and oxygen to your roots and scalp. Low iron levels often leads to anaemia which means your hair follicles and roots are not getting the oxygen it needs. Spinach is another food that contains a lot of iron and other beneficial ingredients such as omega-3 and vitamin C. One of vitamin C’s biggest properties is that it strengthens hair capillaries and increases circulation to your scalp. Vitamin C can also be found in food such as blueberries and sweet potatoes.

Sheer Blonde Competition

John Frieda have kindly offered my readers a chance to win this fab hair kit! One lucky person will win 1 x Sheer Blonde bag, 1 x Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo and 1 x Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Conditioner. All you have to do is enter via the rafflecopter widget below. The giveaway will run for one week and is open to UK residents only. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
