Autumn Hair Styles with ghd & LauraJaneStyle

Posted on October 4, 2014

Hi Guys!

Well autumn is most definitely upon us, and apart from the excitement of new makeup shades hitting the shelves, what about trying some new hair styles too!? I invited Laura from LauraJaneStyle over to mine for some girly time – I was desperate for some hair inspiration and thought we could have a little photo sesh while we were playing hairdressers! Firstly we used the ghd V Coral Professional Styler to straighten – this styler is officially the prettiest electrical hair product I’ve ever seen! I have the Coral version (which has £10 going to Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity) which is from the new Bird of Paradise Limited Edition collection.

The Coral Professional styler is a lovely pink colour fading into orange and comes with a coordinating ombre heat resistant mat. Here’s a bit more info about it –

  • It has advanced ceramic heat technology for enhanced shine and versatile style.
  • Smooth, contoured, floating plates with a gloss finish for salon shine and snag-free styling
  • Sleep mode: switches off if not used for 30 minutes
  • Universal voltage for consistent performance when travelling
  • Round barrel to create perfect curls and waves
  • Professional-length 2.7m power cable

I put in my amazing Hairtrade extensions and then straightened my hair. I can’t believe how fast the styler heated up, I’ve never used ghd products before so I was like WOW! My hair is also really fine so I find it quite difficult to style by myself but luckily I had my personal hairdresser to hand (Laura) who helped me create some pretty autumn looks 🙂

Firstly we have the ‘half up half down’ messy look. Here’s how it’s done –

Lightly tease the top of your hair, loosely gather the sides and bring to the back, push up slightly on your crown to create some volume before pinning with grips. For a more messy approach pull slightly on both the sides and top to create some fall out.

And next the messy bun –

Split your hair into three sections, starting with the middle tie into a pony tail and plait. Twirl round the base of the pony tail to form a small bun. Plait both sides and loosely twirl around middle bun, pinning sections as you go. Remember mess is the key, so don’t waste time perfecting it, just grab, twirl pin and go!

I love both of these looks so much, and when my other half came home he told me I looked pretty, aww! I couldn’t have done this post without the help of my amazing chum Laura, I’ve added one of the pics of Laura’s hair above, but please check out her own post for more pics and info. She’s also coming up to her blog’s first anniversary, which will be celebrated with a giveaway, so make sure you give her a follow so you don’t miss out!

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear if you have any hair style ideas for autumn? xxx

OOTD and a New Haircut at Penthouse Hair!

Posted on January 14, 2014

Hi Guys!

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know I was very excited about getting my hair cut at Penthouse Hair in Norwich on Sunday. They kindly contacted me (and a few others) offering a cut, style and blow dry – I’ve needed my hair cutting for a while as it’s such a state so I was really looking forward to see what I’d come out with! I met up with Dee from deesbeautifullife for our hair cut in the morning, then an afternoon of shopping and visiting Funky Skincare at The Forum! I’ll be blogging separately about this as there’s too much to fit in one post!

So this is me before the hair cut, this is an average day to day outfit for me – I’m wearing an aztec snood from ASOS, cardigan from ebay, vest from H&M, skirt and leggings from ASOS and boots from H&M courtesy of Bloggers Edit.

I haven’t worn my hair down for at least a year and a half now because it’s been falling out due to stress. This is most obvious at the front unfortunately, so I can’t even use extensions to cover it up, as there’s not enough hair to clip them on to! It’s finally stopped falling out now but I know it’s going to take a loooong time to grow back again. So every day I just tie it up and put a headband on to try and hold down the sticky out bits! And as you know, I wear wigs for going out and special occasions 🙂

Sunday was a lovely crisp day, I met with Dee and we walked to Penthouse Hair. We were greeted by the lovely Sharon and Rachael, and after a long discussion with Sharon (who is an expert in hairloss, just what I needed!) we decided it was best to go with a simple short bob, and I was advised to be patient with my hair and let it grow. I was so fed up with my hair, I was keen on having a drastic cut and dye (possibly lilac) but Sharon advised dyeing my hair would be the worst thing to do to it, as it will weaken it and cause more breakage. So I’m going to try to look after my hair more now and on Sharon’s recommendation I’ll soon be purchasing some Nioxin products to help my hair grow.

I had a good trim and my hair was styled into a short bob with a side fringe. Sharon used Tigi products including BedHead Biggie After Party which is a smoothing cream to tame frizz and flyaways, and Superstar Queen For A Day thickening spray, as well as Schwarzkopf Guardian Angel heat protection spray.

And this is what I ended up with! What an improvement hey! This is the first time I’ve been able to wear my hair down in such a long time, it felt great!

And this is the front (sorry for the terrible face!) I’m really pleased with my new hair, it’s just long enough to tie up too which is handy! Thank you so much Penthouse Hair! You can check out Dee’s blog post here and see her awesome new hair cut!

Look out for my next post on Funky Skincare coming up shortly 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
