Home & Interiors: Choosing a Sofa with Sofology

Posted on October 30, 2017

Hi Guys!

As a blogger based near Norwich, it’s always incredibly exciting to hear about blogger events and opportunities that pop up in my local area – as these are very few and far between. So when I was invited to the opening of the new Sofology store in Norwich, and given the opportunity to choose my favourite sofa set, you can imagine how excited I was! I couldn’t wait to go along and check out their gorgeous bespoke ranges.

This amazing opportunity also came along at the perfect time for me – I’m currently panning room makeovers throughout my house, where some will be given a lick of paint and a bit of a sprucing up, and others will be given a full on decoration overhaul. Keep an eye out in the coming months for my room makeover posts 😉

So back to Sofology – a bit about the brand… Their sofas are all handmade, and promise to use only the very best materials available. They offer hundreds of different finishes in different colours and textures, as well as fine natural Italian leathers, and hand finished details such as studding, stitching and solid turned feet, so you can have your sofa made exactly how you want it.

Sofology currently offer over 200 exclusive sofa ranges that you won’t find anywhere else, and each range includes up to 30 different items, including sofas, sofa beds, corner sofas, chairs, footstools and more, making it super easy to find the right combination to fit your needs. Everything is of course safety and quality tested, allowing them to give you a generous 20 year guarantee on every range.

What makes Sofology different from other stores though, is there are no ridiculous sales and promotions – you know what I mean, the stores where the products are constantly half price (and nobody has ever seen them at ‘full’ price) – but there’s not messing around here. Sofology offer high quality sofas and fantastic service (which I personally experienced) all at a decent, fair price – permanently. Their sales people are very knowledgeable and helpful and it’s also nice to know that they don’t work on commission, so there’s no pressure for them to sell, or for you to purchase.

So we initially had a few different ranges in mind – firstly I should mention that we needed a three seater and a two seater, to replace the current old ones we have, and one of them needed to be a sofa bed, as ours is used frequently when we have people stay over.

The fact that we needed a sofa bed was helpful in a way as it narrowed down the available options. I quite liked the look of the Illusion range, and the Monarch range, but after a lot of deliberation, we decided to go for the Coco range above. The sofas on display were a light cream colour, and they were just SO soft and comfy, as well as having really deep seats that you can sink into. Ollie and I both love to lay on our sofas to watch TV in the evenings, so these were the perfect choice for us.

We chose this silver grey colour, called Medusa Silver, and I’m now waiting for confirmation of the delivery date, I’m so excited! When the sofas arrive, I’ll be sure to let you know, and when I get round to fully decorating the living room, I’ll also be blogging all about what I’m up to in terms of decoration and picking up new home accessories, so keep an eye out for these posts coming up very soon.

If you’re on the hunt for a new sofa, I highly recommend you check out Sofology’s extensive range online here.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Home & Interiors: My Conservatory Makeover (Part 1)

Posted on May 4, 2017

Hi Guys!

Welcome to my first ‘Home and Interiors’ post on TSNC!

When we moved house six months ago now (really, where has the time gone?) one of the main things that attracted me to our new house was the awesome conservatory. It’s bigger than the sitting room and is almost the full width of the house at the back. I envisioned this as my blogging haven, my workspace with sunlight coming in every direction, hopefully helping me to create some fantastic photos…

When we moved in, the conservatory had a horrible old brown carpet that had been there God knows how many years, but was otherwise open and airy, which is exactly what I wanted for my workspace. Clever me forgot to take ‘before’ photos, but I I found a picture online of what the conservatory originally looked like (above). It wasn’t that bad really, just not my style at all. There was lots of brown going on – brown carpet, brown wooden doors, brown windowsill and skirting boards, and it just had quite an old style and feel to it – which just wasn’t me at all.

I knew I wanted a white or near white, clean looking marble finish floor. But could I find marble look vinyl or laminate? No I could not. Apparently it’s not a thing – but I thought it would be really popular. I’d have liked vinyl or laminate just to keep the costs down, but as there was nothing even remotely like what I wanted available, I had to go for marble-look tiles instead.

Like I said, I wanted a light colour in a neutral or cool tone – too dark wouldn’t be right for the overall look I wanted, and too bright white and you’d literally need to wear sunglasses in there. After looking online for a long time, I finally found some tiles I liked! I ordered a couple of different samples from Walls and Floors, and after mulling them over, I ended up going with the Arabescato Veined White Marble Effect Matt Tiles.

As the space is pretty big, the tiles ended up costing £500- and that’s including a Black Friday discount! I waited until the weather got better to arrange the tiler to come over and lay them – and it took him four long days. Apparently they were a bit of a pain because the floor wasnt level, so he had to rectify this while he was laying them. I was SO HAPPY with the outcome I can’t even tell you. It’s exactly like I imagined it would look.

Next, I had to decide on what colour to paint the walls. I’m incredibly indecisive so this process actually took a few weeks. I went with a light peach colour which I had colour matched locally. I thought would complement the tiles well, and keep the look of the room feeling bright and clean.

We then primed and painted all the doors, windowsils and skirting boards so they were white, filled in the hairline cracks in the walls (you can see there were a lot of them) and finally painted the room…

And this is the finished product! (please ignore the dying plant, I was hoping to revive it!) I’m beyond happy with how well it all turned out!

The idea is that this half of the room (above) will be my work space. I also have a large chest of drawers and a few other bits and pieces in the room now too. And the opposite end, will be a play area for Freddy.

I’m hoping to come back with a Conservatory Makeover Part 2 very soon, as I want to add some more bits to Freddy’s area like a small table and a sofa, as well as some decorative items and wall art. I’m also looking to have curtain rails or blinds installed and hopefully some sort of sun protection on the glass ceiling to give the room some shade. So there’s still work to do, but the basis is completed now which is the main thing!

I hope you enjoyed my post – keep your eye out for more home and interior makeovers and features coming up soon! xxx

Yankee Candle Riviera Escape Collection

Hi Guys!

One of my favourite candles brands, Yankee Candle are back on the blog this evening with their latest collection, inspired by a sun-kissed escape to the Riviera…

The Riviera Escape collection contains four fresh, summery fragranced candles, as well as matching candle accessories –

Starting with Olive & Thyme – This is a wonderfully fresh and bright fragrance, it’s distinctly herbal in nature with a sharp citrus top note which you can’t fail to miss. This fragrance is inspired by the Mediterranean coast, including notes of olive leaf, citrus and musk, to whisk you away on an Italian adventure.

Next, Riviera Escape – This is definitely my favourite candle out of the collection. Riviera Escape is a beautiful clean and fresh coastal scent, evoking glittering promenades, full with hillsides of beautiful blossoms glowing in the sun. This scent instantly takes me to the coast and I can’t get enough of it!

And Sea Sage & Salt – Now this fragrance is described as ‘warm and inviting, sage mingles with the clean, fresh scent of sea salt…like a relaxing walk along the shore’ but I have to say I really don’t get this at all. To me, this candle smells like men’s aftershave! It really reminds me of my dad for some reason! This is definitely a masculine scent, and not really one for me unfortunately.

And lastly Summer Peach – This scent is almost mouthwateringly juicy – I mean my mouth literally nearly waters when I smell this candle! Fans of sweet scents will love the Summer Peach candle – echoing ripe peaches straight from the orchard, warmed by the sun and begging for that first juicy bite, this fragrance is the epitome of summer.

Oliver Bonas Home Accessories Haul!

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend?

I must admit I have gone a little bit crazy lately with buying home and photography accessories. I’ve been hitting my favourite online stores like a woman on a mission – and I haven’t left anywhere empty handed! I also still have most of my Christmas shopping to do too, oops!

I live not far from Norwich in a small town, and unfortunately we don’t have many decent shops at all, so I always do my shopping online. One of the first online stores I hit was the fantastic Oliver Bonas. I absolutely love this store, their aesthetic is just so me. They sell a massive range of products including home accessories, stationery, jewellery and even clothing.

So firstly, how could I resist these copper wire 3D letters, to spell out TSNC!? I thought these would make fantastic background accessories for my photos, I’m over the moon with them! And I know copper is everywhere at the moment, but I love it!

I also picked up a gold framed hanging glass terrarium, just because it was so pretty. I’m not gonna lie, I had to google what a terrarium was… so for those not in the know, it’s basically a glass container, traditionally used for displaying minature plants inside. One side of the terrarium has a space left free of glass so you have easy access inside. I wasn’t really sure what I’d put in it until I saw some copper string lights on the site – yes I know more copper! I thought I might play around with these as a photography accessory, putting them in the terrarium and wrapping them round things. I’ll see how it goes.

And you know how I feel about stationery… well I bought two more notebooks that I don’t really need. They’re just so awesome and bright! I also grabbed a lovely set of three coloured washi tapes – I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet but at least I have some now for when I’m feeling creative!

And lastly, I also picked up a multi coloured paper chain, this is such a simple yet effective idea for adding a bit of colour to a wall, shelves or anywhere you like really.

I’m over the moon with all my goodies, and if you haven’t heard of Oliver Bonas before, I suggest you check their site out now as they have a sale on 🙂

So what do you think? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Luxury Gift Ideas from Amara

Posted on November 2, 2015

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday!

So it’s officially now November, which means Halloween is over and I feel as though I can talk about the ‘C’ word without a being greeted with a collection of sighs and rolled eyes! (Mostly from my husband!)

If you’ve already starting to think about Christmas, I’ll have some fantastic gift ideas coming up on the blog in the coming weeks – and to kick off the season to be merry, I’m starting with fabulous homewares company Amara.

If you haven’t heard of Amara, they’re a luxury homeware, gift and accessory store, started in 2005 by husband and wife team Andrew and Sam Hood. Initially opening a shop in Chelmsford, stocking the best in home accessories and carefully curated interior must-haves, the shop helped to build their client base and relationships with the world’s most coveted luxury brands. Soon Andrew spotted a gap in the online market place for a distributor of luxury homeware, and taking an entrepreneurial leap of faith they created their online store, Amara.co.uk.

Today, Amara proudly houses over 300 of the world’s most luxurious home fashion brands. Many of which are exclusive, such as Ralph Lauren Home, who have carefully selected Amara as the only online store to distribute their home collections.

First up I have this beautiful glass vase by LSA International. Now I must admit, I thought the vase came with the (assumingly fake) flowers shown in the image on the site, but unfortunately – my own fault, I hadn’t read the description properly, and the flowers weren’t included. So I picked up my own fresh flowers from a local shop – and I’m really glad I did. They smelled beautiful and really brightened up my kitchen!

The vase itself is fairly short and wide, at 11.5cm high, making it suitable for a thick bunch of flowers – or artificial flowers which I think I’ll try and pick up once these have died. This vase makes for a beautiful display or table centrepiece.

Next up I have this super sweet mini notebook by Kate Spade New York. I love pretty much every single thing made by Kate Spade, but this dinky little notebook really caught my attention. It has a metallic rose gold faux leather cover with cream ‘The Devil’s In The Details’ text. It’s only 10cm tall so it’s perfect for popping in your bag for when you’re on the go. It has 160 lined pages with a gilded edge and a ribbon bookmark. Kate Spade has a massive selection of products available at Amara (including more gorgeous stationery pieces) so if you’re a fan you should definitely check them out.

And lastly this amazing ‘Samba’ A5 journal by Christian Lacroix. This beautiful hardback journal has 128 ruled pages, with a fantastically bright and colourful front cover, featuring jewels, palm leaves & tropical blooms with shots of metallic detailing. I LOVE this journal so much – it’s the perfect addition to my desk.

If you’re looking for gorgeous luxury gift ideas – or even something for yourself, I’d highly recommend checking out Amara!

Vera La Lune Cards and Prints

Vera-La-Lune-Cards-and-Prints

Hi Guys!

I’ve got some fabulous cards and artwork to show you this morning from etsy store Vera La Lune.

Vera La Lune is a small, family run business that creates stationery and home décor products. The shop name ‘Vera la lune’ was inspired by founder, Rebecca’s grandmother’s name ‘Vera’ and her love of the moon and the night sky – what a lovely concept! (I love this especially because my Nanny was also called Vera too!)

Vera-La-Lune-Cards-and-Prints-etsy

Vera La Lune’s cards are just beautiful. They’re of course perfect for giving as cards, but also for framing and giving as gifts. Quotes such as ‘Throw kindness around like confetti’ and ‘What if I fall?, ‘Oh but my darling, what if you fly?’ are printed on fabulous quality card to give a luxe feel to the products. Unfortunately I was quite limited for frames at my local shops, but I managed to find a decent enough A4 one to display the print. The smaller A5 cards would look great displayed in pretty frames and they’d make perfect Christmas gifts too!

And this has to be one of my favourites – the Elf quote card! Elf is officially my favourite ever Christmas film, I just love it so much, and this card would be perfect for any fan!

I’d highly recommend checking out Vera La Lune if you’re looking for special cards and gifts, for christmas or any other occasion. I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Stationery Just Got Sexy…

Posted on July 29, 2015

stationery just got sexy_edited-1

Hi Guys!

Ok so I’ve been on a complete stationery binge lately, and there really is no better word to describe it than a BINGE. I’ve been so good for ages (and by ages I mean weeks) only window shopping and not actually buying anything, then the other day I just snapped, and I bought ALL THE THINGS. Which haven’t actually arrived yet, so I’ll post about them when they do! Apart from makeup, stationery is something I really just can’t help buying. I love anything that’s brightly coloured, patterned, gold and while. Any combination of these features and I’m pretty much guaranteed to buy it! Even though I already have pens and pencils and notepads coming out of my ears, as soon as I see a pretty new stationery product I HAVE TO BUY IT. I’m sure I’m not the only blogger that has this problem, so if you’re like me, please feel free to tell me all about your stationery addiction too in the comments so I don’t feel so bad 🙂

So on my latest stationery hunt, I discovered quite a few awesome brands, including Kate Spade, Hay and ban.do to name but a few. I thought I’d put together a little wish list so I could share some of my lustings with you…

Do any of these gorgeous goodies take your fancy? Let me know what you think!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
