Three Fragrances Guaranteed to be Loved this Christmas

Posted on December 24, 2015

Hi Guys!

Happy Christmas Eve! The big day is almost upon us, and today is literally your absolute final chance for picking up some last minute gifts. Personally, I think you can’t go wrong with fragrance – well you can go wrong, but fragrance in itself always makes a fantastic present.

The question is though, would she prefer an oud? Or is she more floral? Or maybe fruity? Is she a fan of tuberose? (I am!) Or musk or leather? The fact is that buying fragrance is hard. Scent is such a personal thing, it’s difficult to get it right.

I love nothing more that trying out weird and wonderful perfumes, the more niche the better, I just enjoy the experience. But if you’re looking for a fail-safe fragrance this Christmas, I’ve put together three perfumes that I personally have and love. These are all off the shelf, reasonably priced and very popular. I haven’t met a person that didn’t like them –

Starting with Jean Paul Gaultier Classique, this was one of my first ‘grown up’ fragrances. I remember checking this out in store many many years ago and I was instantly captivated. It’s an intense, sensual feminine scent, yet easy to wear. Classique has top notes of rose and rum essence, heart notes of vanilla orchid and daffodil and base notes of sweet amber, sandalwood absolute, tonka bean and velvety bourbon vanilla. This is probably one of the most distinctive off-the-shelf fragrances you’ll find.

Next is Viktor & Rolf Flower Bomb, not a new fragrance by any means, but new to my personal fragrance wardrobe. I couldn’t wait to try Flowerbomb out. I’ve been using V&R’s Bonbon for a while now as my go to day to day fragrance, so I really had high hopes for Flowerbomb – and I wasn’t disappointed. Flowerbomb contains top notes of tea and bergamot, middle notes of sambac jasmine, orchid, freesia, and rose, with a base note of patchouli. It’s a beautifully soft and sweet floral scent, it’s a pretty yet sophisticated fragrance, that’s right up there with Bonbon now as one of my daily favourites.

And lastly, the newest of the bunch, Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium. I haven’t tried the original Opium fragrance, but I picked up Black Opium about a year or so ago when it first launched, and it’s just such a stunning fragrance so I wanted to include it today. Black Opium is warm and sweet, floral and fruity yet definitely intense and glamourous. An obvious evening scent, it oozes confidence and sensuality. Black Opium has top notes of pink pepper and orange blossom, mid notes of jasmine and coffee, and base notes of vanilla, patchouli and cedarwood.

I also wanted to use this opportunity to let you know that House of Fraser have a fantastic new offer coming up. Starting midday today and ending on 3rd Jan 2016, they will be bringing you a different beauty offer every day! Starting with 10% off all Mascaras (24th – 26th December) there will be amazing new deals coming up every day, including Eye Palettes, Serums, Moisturisers and much more. Make sure you keep an eye on the site to see which deals are on!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Fragrance Favourites!

Posted on July 16, 2013

Today I’ve joined forces with the lovely Livi from Beau Maquillage to let you know five of our favourite fragrances right now! I’ll give you a brief scent description of each perfume and let you know a bit about how I discovered them 🙂

1. Recently DiscoveredMarc Jacobs Daisy – ‘Daisy is radiant and enchanting fragrance with a floral femininity. Wild strawberry and ruby red grapefruit give the scent a luscious natural freshness, while the base notes of musk and vanilla give a warm sensuality.’

This is such a lovely fragrance, I recently discovered this as my friend was wearing it and I just thought ‘Wow! I need that!’, I’ll hopefully be getting my hands on a bottle shortly!

2. Daytime favouriteJean Paul Gaultier Classique Summer – ‘An oriental floral fragrance for contemporary women, Light, crisp, sweet, powdery & enlivening. Top notes of orange blossom, Clementine & Sicilian lemon. Heart notes of Sambac jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, white iris & ylang-ylang. Base notes of vanilla, musk & amber.’

I discovered this a few years ago at Stanstead Duty Free, I already had a bottle of Classique which I loved so thought I’d give this a sniff. It’s like a more citrussy, daytime version of Classique. It reminds me of holidays 🙂

3. Evening Favourite – Jean Paul Gaultier Classique – ‘A totally seductive fragrance…
Sensual, sophisticated, bewitchingly seductive rose. Jean Paul Gaultier Classique reveals your sensuality, just as lace reveals your skin. A fragrance with sensual, ultra-feminine notes. The ideal fragrance for a seductive, dominant woman with sensual curves.’

This perfume has been my long term best friend, I discovered it in Boots many years ago and instantly fell in love.

4. Best Value for MoneyLady Gaga Fame – ‘The perfume envelops a DARK ACCORD inspired by Belladonna, the deadly nightshade possessed by haunted beauties since the 18th century. Burning incense veils the aura of forbidden fruit and creates a sweet, fatal seduction. From this heart of darkness, the fragrance evolves to a SENSUAL ACCORD of opulence, a fusion of dripping honey, saffron and apricot nectar. A LIGHT ACCORD whispers magnificence. The rich floral layer of crushed tiger orchidea & jasmine sambac embody timeless beauty.’

Trust Lady Gaga’s perfume to have a massive description, ha ha! And this was only part of it! I actually bought this on pre-order as soon as it was available, I hadn’t tested it but I thought at only £24 for 30ml it would be worth a punt. I love this for a daytime fragrance and wear it most days – it’s really fruity on me! The only negative I would say is that the scent doesn’t have great staying power so you have to keep re-applying. You can buy this now for as little as £16 for 30ml.

5. All time favouriteTom Ford Black Orchid – ‘Tom Ford`s luxuriously indulgent signature scent, sure to captivate your senses like no other. The attention is captured by a sensuous blend of Black Truffle and Ylang mingled with fresh Bergamot and delectable Black Currant. A dramatic signature unfolds with the custom-made Tom Ford Black Orchid blended with dark, tempting florals and rich fruit accords. The heart is deepened with the intoxicating Lotus Wood. The decadent Noir Gourmand Accord is balanced by Patchouli-incense and Vetiver. Vanilla tears add a fluid creaminess to warm Balsam and smooth Sandalwood.’

Doesn’t the description just make you want to run out and try it!! Black Orchid has to be my absolute favourite scent – discovered from a sample in a magazine. I always feel fabulous when I wear this and I try to save it for special occasions, though I actually wear it quite often. I’m so excited that the full range of fragrances will be available at Jarrolds in Norwich later this year, I can’t wait to try them all!

I hope you enjoyed this post – I’d love to hear your favourite fragrances! xxx
