Christmas: The Best Beauty Gifts Under £25.00

Posted on December 12, 2016

Hi Guys!

Can you believe it’s only a couple of weeks until Christmas! I really need to get my house organised – we finally have a tree – but no decorations yet! 😀 I’m also now starting to publish my gift guides, which I’m kicking off today with a beauty guide including a fantastic selection of gifts under £25.00. Enjoy!

Let’s start with the very festive looking Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Christmas Set (£15.50) – most people will be familiar with this iconic product, as it’s literally one of the most popular cleansers ever. Did you also know it’s won over 120 awards too! This gift set contains everything you need to get super clean skin in mere minutes – there’s a 100ml tube of Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, 2x Pure Muslin Cloths, and a Cleansing Guide included, all beautifully encased in a specially-designed luxury Christmas gift box that’s just perfect for gifting.

Next we have the Mini Moderns Festival of Light Candle Collection (£26.00) – Ok I know this is over £25.00, but only by a smidge so I’ve allowed it to sneak in this post! This super cute candle set contains four of Mini Moderns’ classic print designs on four wonderfully scented mini sized candles. The fragrances included are – Whitby (Sea Spray), Pavilion (Gin Fizz) Darjeeling (Tea and Fig) and Paisley Crescent (Eastern Orange Blossom).

And on to the Ted Baker Sweet Treats Gem Trio Gift Set (£22.50) – I absolutely love Ted Baker for Christmas gifts, they always come up with beautifully packaged goodies, and this Sweet Treats Gem Trio set would make either one fantastic gift, or three individual stocking fillers. Each ‘gem’ contains a travel sized Ted Baker perfume and a full sized nail polish. The fragrances included are really lovely and wearable, including Mia, Polly and Lyla scents – perfect for any girl who is constantly on the go.

Next we have the Orla Kiely Geranium Purse Spray Gift Set (£22.00) – This beautiful set from Orla Kiely includes a mini cosmetic bag and a 25ml Geranium Purse Spray, housed in a pretty, decorative gift box, with a classic Orla Kiely print.

Next, the Makeup Forever Artistic Smoky Eye Kit (£14.00) – this is a fab little gift set containing a selection of Makeup Forever minis. There’s an Excessive Lash Mascara, Aqua XL Eye Pencil in M60 (brown) and also one in M10 (black) – so you can create some gorgeous smoky eye looks this Christmas.

If lips are more your thing, the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector Collection (£25.40) is a definite must have. I love Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors, they leave your lips feeling incredibly silky smooth and nourished, with a natural tint of colour and a glossy shine. This set includes shades 01 Rose shimmer and 02 Apricot shimmer.

Moving on to fragrance, the brand new Accessorize Lovelily Perfume (£19.00) has recently caught my attention. I have to tell you I’m completely in love with this scent. It’s super feminine with notes of raspberry, orange, jasmine and sweet vanilla, and it really reminds me of my youth, I think because it’s quite a young and sweet fragrance. This scent is a fantastic bargain at only £19.00 for 75ml – if I didn’t have this already, it’d definitely be on my Christmas list this year!

Continuing with scent, another bargain fragrance is the new Monsoon Rose Gold EDP – which is currently on offer for only £19.33. Rose Gold EDP has top notes of sparkling lemon, soft fruit and ozonic scents, heart notes of velvety rose, tuberose, neroli and cyclamen, and a base of Eastern woods, vanilla, mosses, musk and balsamic amber. This is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a new reasonably priced fragrance.

And the Jo Malone Geranuim & Walnut Hand Cream (£22.00) – We all know Jo Malone makes some of the best and most beautifully packaged products, but if you’re looking something at the cheaper end of the spectrum, this Geranium & Walnut Hand Cream would make the perfect gift for any Jo Malone fan this Christmas, without breaking the bank. This cream has a lightweight, delicately scented formula including Apricot Kernel oil which absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving hands soft and moisturised.

Next the Pixi by Petra Rosy Radiance Palette (£19.00) – I often think Pixi makeup is quite underrated, and this palette is a very reasonably priced considering how much product is included. The Rosy Radiance Palette Rosette from Pixi is an all-in-one colour kit including an array of rose, crème and taupe hues that are able to sculpt and enhance cheeks, add a wash of colour to eyes and fill in sparse brows. The Palette Contains: 8x Eye Shades, 3x Brow Shades, 3x Face Shades and a Duo Applicator.

And lastly, the L’Occitane Delightful Floral Hand Cream Trio (£22.00) – this lovely little set would make the perfect Christmas gift for any L’Occitane fan. It contains 3x 30ml hand creams in scents Cherry Blossom, Arlésienne and Pivoine Flora – which is a real bargain at only £7.33 each!

I’d love to hear what’s top of your Christmas list this year? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Christmas: Must Have Candles inc Diptyque, Jo Malone, Etta French & More

luxury-christmas-candles

Hi Guys!

What is Christmas without a beautiful scented candle? I love nothing more than filling my home with festive scents to really get me into the Christmas spirit – and as there are so many wonderful wintry fragrances candles around right now, I’ve gathered together a selection of the best luxury scented candles to share with you today – enjoy!

diptyque-epice-et-delices-candle-review

Starting with the Diptyque Epice et Delices Candle (from £28.00) – Diptyque is the brand that really does tick all the boxes when it comes to candles. Their packaging is always striking and distinctive, and the scents are also to die for. This ‘Epice et Delices’ (Spices and Delights) candle is part of a trio of limited edition candles for winter 2016. Epice et Delices is a wonderfully warming spicy scent with notes of gingerbread, cinnamon, honey and star anise. It’s just perfect for a cost night in by the fire.

jo-malone-incense-and-embers-candle-review

Next we have the Jo Malone Incense & Embers Candle (£42.00) – Another favourite brand of mine, Jo Malone’s Christmas products are always on my wish list, and this Incense & Embers scented candle is just as gorgeous as I expected. The scent is sophisticated, relaxing and calming with notes of smoky incense, silver fir and white pepper. An element of sensuality is added with notes napa leather layered on a base of elegant vetiver and golden amber. This really is a must have candle for winter.

voluspa-spruce-cuttings-candle

I also have this absolutely stunning Voluspa Classic Maison Luxury Candle in Spruce Cuttings (£45.00) – now Voluspa is a brand I’ve never tried before, and I’m so glad I’ve discovered them! This candle is just so beautiful, with a striking festive green iridescent polished glass finish and matching lid – it really does feel luxurious and special. Their Spruce Cuttings scent is woody yet crisp and fresh, and instantly transports me to a winter wonderland. And though high in price, this candle will also last up to 100 hours, so it’s definitely worth the splurge.

la-montana-three-kings-candle-review

The La Montana Three Kings Candle (£35.00) is another beautiful, warming winter fragrance. This scent includes notes of cedarwood mingled with trampled pine needles, while frankincense and myrrh, mix with traditional, homemade turrón (almond nougat) and a brightening tot of brandy. The scent is heavy and evocative, and slightly masculine with almost an element of cologne to it. I really love this scent and this would also make a wonderful Christmas gift.

etta-french-nutmeg-orange-and-cinnamon-candle-review

Next we have the Etta French Nutmeg, Orange and Cinnamon Candle (£34.00) – if you haven’t heard of Etta French, they’re basically like a high end version of Jewel Candle – yes they have little packages of jewellery inside their candles! I really love this idea – I haven’t dug mine out yet so look out for another post in the coming weeks where I’ll show you what’s hidden inside this beautiful candle.

Onto the fragrance now though – Nutmeg, Orange & Cinnamon is a limited edition Christmas Fragrance; it’s described as the perfect seasonal soothing scent, evocative of cold winter days, fire lit nights and Christmas Cheer. I’m a big fan of cinnamon so this fragrance really appealed to me, it’s spicy, comforting and just smells exactly like Christmas!

Next The White Company Mistletoe Candle (£34.00 – behind reindeer) – This is a new limited edition scent, with notes of aromatic spruce, woody cedar, sweet muguet and rich amber. This scent encapsulates the essence of festive flirtation and kisses the air with its warming heart. This lovely candle is housed in a pretty ribbed glass vessel, with no visible logo, and its outer packaging is a beautiful white drum finished with a metallic ribbon. The whole look is elegant and understated – perfect for gifting a loved one this Christmas.

annick-goutal-noel-candle-review

And lastly the Annick Goutal Noel Candle (£44.00) – this is a classic Christmas candle from Annick Goutal. The fragrance is instantly recognisable – fresh, fresh and full-bodied, spicy and fruity. The flavour of citrus fruits, orange and mandarin from Brazil, the slightly acid bark of the pine from Siberia, heavy with an unforgettable scent of resin. A scent with the clarity of snow and the warmth of a house filled with impatient, excited children on Christmas Eve. This candle would make a wonderful Christmas treat!

And lastly I also wanted to mention this guy I picked up from Paperchase – Minty, as I’ve called him, is an awesome mint green coloured decorative reindeer – I love him!

I’d love to hear which candles you’ve been enjoying this winter? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Jo Malone Black Cedarwood & Juniper Cologne

Posted on June 10, 2016

Jo-Malone-Black-Cedarwood-&-Juniper-Cologne

Hi Guys!

A few weeks ago now I met up with the lovely Holly from Jo Malone to hear all about their upcoming releases. They have SO many gorgeous products launching this summer which you may have heard of by now, including the gorgeous limited edition Nishi Blossom fragrance, a collection in collaboration with Marthe Armitage, as well as limited edition boxes designed by Judy Blame.

Black Cedarwood & Juniper is one of Jo Malone’s latest fragrance releases, and it’s just everything I want out of a JM fragrance…

Midnight rain. Seductive with the carnal touch of cumin and chilli leaves. Dark with cedarwood. Humid with moss. Modern and urban.

  • Top Note: Cumin – Aromatic and compelling with an animalic character, evocative of
    warm skin, wet with rain.
  • Heart Note: Juniper – Cool and green, the aromatic, resinous quality of juniper brings vibrancy to the heart.
  • Base Note: Black Cedarwood – Complementing the Virginian cedarwood in the heart, this brings a deeper woodiness to the base with a touch of supple leather.

And fans of Jo Malone will know all about their love of combining fragrances. There are almost limitless combination of bespoke fragrances you can create by layering individual scents. Jo Malone recommend you layer Black Cedarwood & Juniper with Lime Basil & Mandarin for a fresh woody fragrance, that’s seductive with an addictive citrus twist. Or combine it with Wood Sage & Sea Salt for an aromatic woody fragrance, spirited with sea salt and juniper.

Jo Malone Orris & Sandalwood Cologne Intense

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a lovely day? I’m been making the most of the sunshine this morning, and I have the latest beautiful Cologne Intense fragrance from Jo Malone to share with you now…

For those not too familiar with the Cologne Intense range, this is a rather special collection of scents created by Jo Malone focussing specifically on rich and precious ingredients, such as oud and incense, as well as florals including rose and tuberose (Tuberose Angelica is a must-try). Jo Malone felt that the woody and powdery qualities of iris were missing from this collection, so they decided to create a fragrance around orris – and Orris & Sandalwood was born.

Now I must admit, I wasn’t completely sure what orris was to begin with, so just to give a bit of background info, orris actually comes from the roots of the Iris Pallid, rather than the flower. It grows near Florence and is renowned as a very rare and precious substance. Rather surprisingly, orris takes up to five years to to produce, from harvesting, to drying, through to extraction – though the length of time and depth of process goes a long way to explaining why orris is so precious. Jo Malone wanted to remain true to the traditional approach of harvesting, to bring the unique qualities of the orris to their latest fragrance.

And yes, the gorgeous fragrance! On first try, you’re hit with a wonderful bouquet of violet – and I know violet isn’t to everyones taste, but this isn’t overly floral as you might expect. It also has an interesting unisex appeal due to the woody nature of the orris, which is emphasised by the depth of Sandalwood at the base. Apart from being distinctively violet in nature, this scent is definitely warm, inviting and hinting on powdery.  I think lovers of violet and sandalwood will be in heaven with this perfume.

If you like layering your scents, which I highly recommend by the way, Jo Malone recommends layering Orris & Sandalwood with Blackberry & Bay to create a compelling woody floral – this sounds right up my street so I may need to treat myself to Blackberry and Bay now!

Orris & Sandalwod is available now from Jo Malone at £105.00 for 100ml.

Jo Malone Christmas Gift Collection 2015

Posted on October 13, 2015

JML-Christmas-2015-Press-Brochure-1

Hi Guys!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have noticed I had a rather exciting meeting at Jo Malone yesterday. I went to Jarrold department store in Norwich to hear all about their Christmas collection – whilst having a much appreciated hand and arm massage.

I’m not going to give away all the details about their gorgeous gifts just yet, because where’s the fun in that!? Instead I thought I’d tell you a bit about what to expect this Christmas from Jo Malone, and to whet your appetite for the gifting collection with some of their amazing lifestyle images!

JML-Group-Party-Image-1

So for holiday 2015, Jo Malone have gone vintage luxe, with a glamorous 1950’s Christmas party theme. The models are dressed in fabulous 50’s party dresses, but with a modern twist.

Green is also the colour for this collection, with mistletoe featuring heavily throughout, as well as green candy stripes and a pretty green velvet ribbon replacing Jo Malone’s traditional black ribbon.

I had a good sniff of the beautiful Roasted Chestnut Candle, and it just smells like Christmas. This is definitely top of my wish list!

And you may have seen the amazing Jo Malone Town House Advent Calendar featured in my Every Single Beauty Advent Calendar post. Yes it is pricey at £260, but you get a fantastic selection of miniature products for every day in December until the 24th, so I think it’s definitely worth it!

And lastly, what about this guy? Jo Malone also offer a same-day delivery service for all your emergency give giving needs. (This is in London only though) So if you know someone that tends to leave buying presents till the last minute, Jo Malone should be able to save their bacon – in style, in the vintage Morris Minor van pictured, or a Jo Malone Vespa! Unfortunately I’m pretty sure this guy is just a model, but even so, what a fantastic service to offer!

I’ll have some more information about all of the gorgeous gifts coming up soon. In the mean time though I’d love to hear what you think – are you a Jo Malone fan?
