Beauty: NEW Lime Crime Diamond Crushers & Hi-Lite Opals Palette

Posted on June 15, 2017

Hi Guys!

You may have caught my post the other week letting you know that Lime Crime products are now available at ASOS – well I have a couple more exciting new launches to share with you today!

The new Hi-Lite Opals Palette (£33.00 at ASOS) is Lime Crime’s first ever highlighter palette – it’s literally just landed in at ASOS, and it looks SO good! Inspired by the magic of opalescent stones, this palette contains three beautiful iridescent highlighter shades in Pink, Gold, and Peach shift.

The three shades come in a finely milled, silky formula, which promises to melt seamlessly into skin and adapt to your complexion, lasting all day without the need for re-application. The powders are all really buttery smooth, with each giving a true glow highlight that doesn’t contain any glitter particles.

I think my favourite in terms of colour is the Pink, it’s such a striking true pink that looks amazing when it catches the light. But I do feel the Gold shade has a slightly better consistency, allowing it to give a slightly more intense shine compared to the other two shades. All three are fantastic though, and this palette is definitely worth the splurge!

And I also have three of Lime Crime’s new Diamond Crushers (£15.00 at ASOS) – these iridescent lip toppers can be used just as they are to add a reflective, shimmery look to lips – but for more of a dramatic look they work amazingly well on top of other liquid lipsticks, especially darker shades.

The Diamond Crushers Lip Toppers are available in five iridescent shades –

  • Choke – a pale pink/blue shift hue
  • Dope – a cotton candy champagne
  • Lit – a rose gold ‘on acid’
  • Fluke – a chill mauve
  • Trip – a delirium purple

The formula is surprisingly lightweight (also water-based) and is filled with light-reflective iridescent shimmer particles which shift and change and just look amazing when they catch the light. I thought the Diamond Crushers might feel a bit chunky and gritty, due to the nature of them, but surprisingly they don’t, they apply very smoothly and feel like there’s almost nothing on your lips.

The shades I have swatched above are (from the top) Dope, Trip, and Fluke. What you can’t see from the swatches is the beautiful iridescent glitter in each of the shades – I love them all!

So as I’ve said, you can wear these on their own, or on top of a matte finish liquid lipstick to add a whole new dimension. I’m pleased to say it doesn’t take off your liquid lipstick when you apply, and stays on for hours on end. Of course technically these are lip toppers, but you really can wear them anywhere you’d like to, such as on the eyes or on top of your cheekbone highlight for added intensity. I should mention that I can’t confirm if they’re safe for eyes though, the site doesn’t say either way.

Overall I think these are fab products, I haven’t seen anything else like them available on the market as yet – so if you’re a fan of iridescent and holo finishes in your makeup, these are definitely a must have.

Lime Crime products are available now at ASOS.

Beauty: My Picks from Lime Crime at ASOS

Posted on May 3, 2017

Hi Guys!

ASOS might not be the first place you think of when online shopping for beauty products – but it really should be. They stock so many amazing brands now, many of which are pretty hard to find in the UK, such as Beauty Bakerie, Winky Lux, NYX, and Paul & Joe to name a few of my favourites.

Today though, I wanted to share with you my picks from ASOS’s selection of Lime Crime products…

Lime Crime have recently launched an awesome range of fake nails. I’m not usually a fan of fake nails, simply because I’d never come across any styles that particularly excited me. The Chromatic Pop On Nails (£12.00 at ASOS) however, come in a variety of iridescent high shine finishes that just look so shiny and magical! I have a set in shade Oyster, which is an iridescent white which shines blue and pink in the light, very much like an oyster shell – they’re so pretty! The nails are also available in shades Camel which has more of a gold tone, and Lizard which has more of a greenish oil-slick coloured finish.

The Chromatic Pop On Nails sets contains 6 different sizes of nails, so you can select which suits each of your nails the best, with two of each size. There’s also a tube of nail glue included to stick them on with. I’m loving this set so much – if you’re a fan of iridescent or holographic beauty products, these are a must have!

Another of Lime Crime’s newer launches is their Metallic Velvetines Liquid Lipsticks (£15.00 at ASOS). There are six shades to choose from, and I have (starting from the top)

  • Posh – a metallic warm toned purple
  • Mercury – a metallic nude silver with a touch of lavender
  • Happi – a metallic light peach pink
  • Lana – a metallic orange bronze

The Metallic Velvetines are a matte liquid lipstick, with a gorgeous metallic high shimmer finish. They’re extremely well pigmented, just like the original Velvetines, and work really well on their own, or on top of other liquid lipsticks. They dry down to a true matte finish, and won’t budge or move around at all throughout the day.

And of course, ASOS also stock Lime Crime’s original Velvetine Liquid Lipsticks too (£15.00 at ASOS). There are 18 shades of original formula Velvetines available, including classics such as Pink Velvet and Cashmere, as well as newer shades too. I have a couple of gorgeous colours (the bottom two swatches above) –

  • Riot – a terracotta nude
  • Buffy – a warm toned caramel nude

I think Riot is my favourite, it’s a warm terracotta shade that’s surprisingly easy to wear. As expected, they dry down quickly to a super matte finish which lasts for hours and hours before you need to re-apply. As with any liquid matte lipstick, you’ll need to make sure your lips are in good condition before application, as it can be quite drying. They only require one coat though, and dry perfectly opaque – these are definitely some of the best matte finish liquid lipsticks you can buy.

I’m so excited by these latest products from Lime Crime, I can’t wait to try out some new makeup looks with them!

Beauty News & Gossip 14/06/16: Jaclyn Hill SCANDAL, Urban Decay, Colourpop, Lime Crime & More!

Posted on June 14, 2016

Hi Guys!

After last week’s first ever Beauty News & Gossip post I’ve decided to make it a (roughly) weekly feature  – enjoy! 😀

jaclyn-hill-becca-eyeshadow-palette-problem

So first up this week – I have to address the Becca X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette SCANDAL!

After the very exciting and hyped up release of Becca and Jaclyn’s range of collaboration products, including a face palette and an eyeshadow palette, all hell has broken loose. For those who haven’t heard, basically an eagle eyed beauty fanatic who’s particularly fond of Becca eyeshadows noticed that the shadows in the Jaclyn Eyeshadow palette just weren’t up to Becca’s usual high standards.

She then looked into it further and found that the Jaclyn Eyeshadow Palette was made in China, unlike other Becca eyeshadows, and also that it used very different (and significantly inferior) ingredients compared to other Becca shadows. You can see her YT vid here –

Customers then started to come forward and complain about the poor quality of the eyeshadows. Becca then admitted that there was in fact issues with the palette and stopped all sales, and Sephora have also been refunding customers that had already purchased it.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, Jaclyn then proceeded to throw Becca under the bus, so to speak, by saying on Snapchat (so I’ve heard) that she didn’t want to make the eyeshadow palette in the first place, and she didn’t really have much to do with the creation process – completely contradicting a previous YT video where she announced the collaboration products and told viewers that she was hands on from start to finish, and that this was an even collaboration between herself and Becca. Jaclyn has now deleted this video, and I have to say it all seems pretty dodgy to me.

And one final note on the matter… What about all the Youtubers and ‘Influencers’ (I really hate that word) that were sent these products to try before the public launch – there wasn’t one negative review of Jaclyn’s eyeshadow palette! They all said how amazing, how pigmented, how buttery soft and smooth the shadows were – so were they possibly telling fibs to keep the brand happy??

There’s some food for thought anyway – please do let me know what you think about this!

kylie-cosmetics-majesty

Though I’m personally not really interested in Kylie Jenner’s makeup range, I know it’s incredibly popular, so fans will be excited to hear about the new shade Majesty which is a metallic black with blue undertones. It will be available to purchase on 16/06/16.

jeffree-star-lip-ammunition

jeffree-star-lavender-snow-highlighter

And yes it’s Jeffree Star again! Even though he’s just launched a bunch of products, his Lip Ammunition Lipsticks – in satin and glitter finishes and a brand new Highlighter shade, Lavender Snow will also be available very soon.

And while I’m on the subject of Jeffree Star, one of my favourite Youtubers who will always call a spade a spade, Stephanie Nicole has recently posted a product and brand review on Jeffree – it’s a long video but it’s definitely worth a watch.

colourpop-sculpting-stix-and-highlighters

Favourite US budget beauty brand Colourpop also has some pretty awesome new products coming out. So far they’ve been all about the colour cosmetics, but they’re now launching a range of highlighter and contour sticks. At only $5.00 each they’re a complete bargain!

Lime-Crime-Superfoil-Water-Activated-Metallic-Eyeshadow-Duos

Controversial beauty brand Lime Crime have also just launched their Superfoil Water Activated Metallic Eyeshadow Duos, which look pretty amazing! These duos contain a brand new eyeshadow formulation that just requires a spritz of water to activate it. The result is a super high shine foil finish. This product is available in six different duos, which are £12.71 each from Lime Crime.

urban-decay-moondust-palette-preview

And lastly, Urban Decay is launching yet another new palette! Forget about the Naked palettes, this time it’s all about the metallics, the Moondust Palette will include eight new Moondust eyeshadows – I really can’t wait for this one! I don’t know when it will be available as yet, but I’ll let you guys know as soon as I find out.

Five Things I’m Loving Right Now…

Posted on February 25, 2015

five-things

Hi Guys!

I was in two minds about waiting to put together an end of month favourites, or whether to share some things that I’m currently loving today – but I thought where’s the fun in waiting!? So I’ve put together five things I’ve been really loving lately…

Flamingo Candles Rose & Marshmallow scented candle – £12.00. I LOVE Flamingo Candles, after stocking up on their winter scents in the sale – and I still have a couple of those candles left – I was completely ready for some fresh new spring scents, and then Flamingo happen to announce their brand new Spring collection, perfect timing! There are six fresh new scents availing now ranging from Raspberry & Salted Caramel to Green Apples – and I have Rose & Marshmallow, which is a beautiful light and sweet scent. I can imagine it won’t last me very long!

Lime Crime Velvetine Liquid Lipstick in Cashmere. I’ve been a big fan of Lime Crime’s Velvetines since they were released many moons ago (You can see my very old review of Pink Velvet here) Cashmere happens to be the shade on everyone’s want list at the moment though, it’s kind of a beige with a hint of grey – greige maybe? Anyway, I thought it was either going to look awesome, or give me ‘dead’ lips. Either way I really wanted it and ended up paying over the odds on ebay as it’s constantly sold out. (Also, there have been quite a few problems with Lime Crime lately, you should read about the recent hacking scandal if you haven’t already) So I wouldn’t have bought from their site anyway. So, it turns out Cashmere is actually an awesome colour, it’s really unusual and didn’t give me dead lips after all! I’ll have a full post coming up on it shortly.

Benefit Roller Lash – £19.50. Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that Roller Lash is Benefit’s latest hyped up product to hit the shelves, and I told myself I wasn’t going to buy in to the hype. I said I WOULD NOT BUY IT. But then… my family were all poorly, and on the way back from taking Fred to the out of hours doctors we stopped at the supermarket and there it was, free with Elle magazine, I was weak and in need of a treat, so I bought it. And I’m actually really glad I did. This mascara is perfect for my super short lashes, in both the formula and the size / shape of the wand, yippee! (Elle, on the other hand, was quite a let down, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many adverts in one mag)

BD Trade Secrets Flawless Primer – £9.99. BD Trade Secrets is the brand new and re-vamped Barbara Daly range which is exclusive to Tesco. To be honest, ‘Barbara Daly’ wasn’t that appealing as a brand, but BD, along with the name has also had a formula re-vamp across the range. I’ve tried a few BD products out and so far and the stand out one for me has definitely been the Flawless Primer. It has a thick silicone gel type texture and does a fantastic job of ‘filling in’ my face and creating a super smooth makeup base.

And lastly, Pretty Honest By Sali Hughes – £14.96. I got this book for Christmas, and I’m sad to say that I’ve just been so busy, I haven’t had time to just sit down and read it properly. But the good thing about this book, is it’s super easy to pick up and read snippets and sections whenever you feel like it, which is exactly what I’ve been doing. Sali is just the most amazing beauty guru, there isn’t anything she doesn’t know and it’s all in this book. If you’re a makeup, skincare or general beauty fanatic like me, this is your bible and you need to purchase a copy now!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? Or what you’ve been loving lately?

NEW Makeup Revolution Matte Lip Lacquers!

Posted on September 12, 2014

makeup-revolution-velvet-lip-lacquers

Hi Guys!

Today I have some of the newest offerings from Makeup Revolution to share with you! They have just gone and added four new shades to their Salvation Velvet Matte Lip Lacquer range, and I happen to have noticed that three out of the four shades are dead ringers for Lime Crime’s Clueless Witch Velvetines collection…

makeup-revolution-velvet-matte-depravity

First up is Depravity, a bright clean blue toned purple, and it is stunning! This is easily my favourite shade out of the four and I can’t get enough of it! It’s everything I look for in a lip product, with 100% full opacity and a matte finish, what more does a girl need!? I also found this one applied the most evenly and was the easiest to manipulate compared to the rest.

makeup-revolution-velvet-matte-rebel

Next we have Rebel, an intense pinkish red. This is definitely the most easy to wear colour out of the four shades, this bright intense berry red is the perfect colour for the impending autumn and winter seasons too!

makeup-revolution-vamp

Next is Vamp, I’ve just described this as deepest purple, it’s almost black but not quite. Now I should probably point out that this was actually the last colour I tested, as you can see the edges of my lips have gone a bit pink due to rubbing the previous products off. Once dried, these lacquers seriously DO NOT BUDGE, but I”ll tell you more about that in a bit.

makeup-revolution-black-heart

And lastly we have Black Heart, which is a super dark purple, so dark it really is almost black. You can see this is very similar to Vamp, there’s really not much in it al all except this is slightly darker.

Now these lacquers are tricky things, the formula is obviously a liquid, which is easily to manipulate on the lips when wet, you can spread it around and build up the colour, but as soon as it dries it’s pretty much like glue! It doesn’t budge for love nor money! (think that’s a phrase my mum uses) I had to rub and rub and RUB to get this stuff off when I was testing it. And yes it was a bit of a pain, but at the end of the day we all want long lasting lipstick, don’t we? So now we have it!

I’d recommend practicing with these before rushing to put them on before going out, like I said, this stuff won’t move once it’s dried. I found it pretty tricky to get a good clean line around the lips – because the lacquers are so super pigmented, any tiny hint of imperfection shows. My personal favourite, Depravity seemed to be the easiest to apply, though I’m not sure why as the formula appeared the same at the other shades. And the darker shades seemed to be a bit more difficult. All you need is a bit of practice and a steady hand!

makeup-revolution-lacquer-swatches

clueless-swatches

I’ve compared some of my hand swatches to the Lime Crime Clueless Witch Velvetines product images above. I do have a Lime Crime Velvetine, but it’s not one of the Clueless Witch collection, so I don’t really think it would be fair to compare. You can see the colours are pretty similar though!

So there we have it, another fab bunch of products from Makeup Revolution, oh and did I mention these are only £3 each! What a bargain! I wonder what they’ll think of next!?

(Oh and I just thought I’d mention I haven’t actually got my septum pierced, it’s a fake ring from Rackk & Ruin, do you like?)

Lime Crime Pastelchio Nail Polish & Pia Jewellery | NOTD & Review

green-ameythst-ring

Hi Guys!

Well I’m back from holiday! I’m now catching up with emails and blog posts which seems to be taking forever! Luckily whilst on holiday I took a selection of jewellery and nail polishes with me to play with and photograph, and on one quiet evening in, whilst the boy was watching football I sat down and pointed my nails with the amazing Lime Crime neon pastel ‘Pastelchio’ which is the brightest, most intense green ever! I finished off the look with some gorgeous rings from Pia Jewellery.

pastelchio-limecrime

The Show Boat Ring is definitely my favourite, it’s a massive pale green faceted amethyst mounted on a silver band. I thought even though this is a classic style ring it looked great with my neon green nail polish! I also wore the Stacked In Your Favour Ripple Wave Ring on my middle finger to add to the look 🙂

If you haven’t tried Lime Crime nail polishes I’d definitely recommend them. Pastelchio is part of the Les Desserts d’ Antoinette nail polish collection, originally released in 2012. I have most of the seven polishes in this collection and they’re all fantastic! You only need two coats for full opaqueness and the colour will last a good four days or so without chipping. I don’t think these are available in the UK to buy any more, so if anyone knows of any stockists please let me know!

OPI The Great and Powerful Oz Collection Nail Polish WIN!

Posted on May 26, 2013

How excited was I to find out I’d won the entire OPI Oz collection of nail polishes from HQ Hair! Yippeee!! I felt a bit special being randomly picked by Rafflecopter from 8643 entries!

I was going to do a blog post on the polishes but my previous Lime Crime nail polish has stained my nails, and the nude pink base coloures in the OPI collection are very sheer and I’ve tried but they won’t cover the green staining of some of my nails.

So instead I thought I’d try out a couple more Lime Crime colours with the OPI glitter topcoats. I know these are very opaque so there will be no problem covering my discoloured nails.

I’ve used Lime Crime ‘Milky Ways’ which is the nude colour, and ‘Lavindairy’ for the ring finger. I then tried a couple of the OPI glitter topcoats. ‘Which is Witch?’ is on the middle finger and ‘Lights of emerald City’ is on my thumb.

Lime Crime OPI Nail Art

I just did a quick pattern in white on my index finger and thought I’d show off my new charm rings from H&M!

Lime Crime OPI Nail Art2

I found I had to put ‘Lights of Emerald City’ on really thickly to get the glitter out and move the shapes around with the brush for even coverage. I was in a bit of a rush as my little boy was demanding my attention so you can see below that the glitter has sunk into the Lime Crime polish underneath as I didn’t give it long enough to dry.

OPI Lights of Emerald City OPI Oz Lights of Emerald City

I love the holographic hexes in “Which is Witch?’ this polish was much easier to manipulate and get an even spread of glitter.

Overall I really like these two glitters! Have you tried out this collection? xx
