new-in-beauty-products-worth-checking-out

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

loccitane-candle

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

clarins-lancome-pur

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

sleek

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

chantecaille-espa

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

loreal-french-girl-body-shop-tea-tree

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

soap-and-glory

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

erborian-w7-kiehls-new

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

new-in-beauty-summer-2016-review

Hi Guys!

There are so many fabulous new beauty launches around at the moment that are either available now, or launching very soon, so I thought I’d put a round up post together of some MUST HAVE makeup products you need in your life this summer – enjoy!

cover-fx-custom-enhancer-drops-review

You must have heard of Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops by now? This is easily THE product of Summer 2016. These liquid illuminators are EVERYTHING and I promise that you need at least one of them in your life. The Custom Enhancer Drops come in six shades, and have the most highly reflective, almost metallic formula – and they can be used pretty much anywhere and anyhow you like. I have the shade Candlelight which is a gorgeous warm bronze – perfect for adding to your foundation to enhance the colour for the summer, or wearing as it is on tanned skin for a lovely healthy glow. The range includes lighter shades too, which would make the most amazing highlighters! You can buy these on back order now for £34.00 at Space NK.

ciate-pretty-palette-review

The Ciate London Pretty Eyeshadow Palette (£29.00 at Ciate) could easily be my go-to palette for the whole of the summer. This compact little palette contains nine relatively large eyeshadows in a range understated, glamorous shades, in both shimmer and matte finishes.

Each shade is infused with Ciate’s Double Dose™, a finely-milled pigment that’s formulated to blend effortlessly. Its touchable, molten powder texture delivers one-swipe, vivid colour pay-off for high-impact, advanced wear, and the colours in this palette work perfectly well to take your look from day to night – this is definitely a makeup bag staple for me.

Smith-&-Cult-The-Tainted-Lip-Stained-review

Next the Smith & Cult The Tainted Lip Stained (£20.00 at Net-a-Porter) – this is like no other lip product I’ve tried – the formula reacts to the pH in your lips to bring out a subtle tint of colour – which is definitely subtle but noticeable. Unlike traditional stains, this rich balm is definitely more like a gloss, giving lips a lovely shine whilst boosting moisture levels. The Tainted Lip Stained’s are available in two shades –

  • Linger Sigh – a nude baby pink.
  • Sweet Suite – a watermelon pink.

true-brit-london-nail-polishes

On to nails now, True Brit London Nail Polish (£12.95 at True Brit London) have launched a brand new collection of polishes – the Garden Party range is inspired by the floral bloom colours seen on the catwalks, transporting you into a world of colour. The new collection also includes a fresh range of nude shades, including copper metallics and earthy, warm hues.

  • Apples & Pears – a mint green cream with tiny silver flecks.
  • Street Party – a bright barbie pink cream with tiny silver flecks.

palmers-flip-balm-lip-balm-review

And you’ve probably heard about these by now too – Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Flip Balms (£4.99 at Superdrug) come in three gorgeous flavours – Juicy Watermelon, Creamy Coconut and Ripe Mango. Being someone with chronically dry lips, I tend to get quite excited when a new balm is released! The Flip Balms are made from pure Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E to soften and soothe dry lips, whilst delivering incredible, long-lasting moisture. I’ve used Juicy Watermelon a few times and I have to say it really is a fantastic lip balm!

urban-decay-vice-lipsticks-review

And of course the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks (£15.00 from Urban Decay) – the new range of Vice Lipsticks comes in a massive lineup of 100 shades, with six different finishes –

  • Metallized – cream with a pearl ‘metallic’ finish.
  • Cream – original creamy formula.
  • Sheer – a punch of colour with a sheer, shiny finish.
  • Sheer Shimmer – slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture.
  • Comfort Matte – creamy matte.
  • Mega Matte – super intense matte.

These are the ones I have above –

  • Pandemonium (mega matte) – an intense royal purple.
  • Big Bang (metallized) – a bright barbie pink with glitter flecks.
  • Backtalk (comfort matte) – a creamy nude pink.
  • Firebird (cream) – an intense deep fuchsia.
  • 714 (mega matte) – a bright tomato red.

There are both new shades as well as cult favourites included in the collection. Urban Decay have also included plenty of nourishing ingredients in their Vice formulas, to make sure they’re as comfortable to wear as possible. I’m most definitely in love with Backtalk, both for the colour as well as the formula – I think I may have to snap up some more of the Comfort Mattes now!

Sleek-MakeUP-Power-Plump-Lip-Crayons-review

And lastly, the Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayons (£5.50 at Sleek Makeup) – these innocent looking lip crayons aim to magically plump up your pout with a buzzy, tingling sensation – much like the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Glosses. The sensation is quite prickly, and quite a surprise if you’re not prepared for it! The crayons give a pigmented pop of colour whilst enhancing the appearance of your lips, helping them to appear fuller and more luscious.

  • Raving Rouge – bright true red.
  • Fully Fuchsia – bright blue toned pink.
  • Power Pink – mid pink.
  • Colossal Coral – light orange-coral.
  • Notorious Nude – warm nude beige.
  • Berry Burst – mid mauve.

new-in-beauty-summer-2016-makeup

Now you may have noticed I haven’t included any swatches in this post, well it turned out to be quite a long post in the end so I decided not to include swatches – but if you’d like to see swatches of anything at all (not just in this post) please do tweet me at tsncblog, or contact me on Snapchat (also tsncblog) or leave a comment below, and I will be more than happy to oblige 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

NEW L’Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balms #SuperBalm

Posted on June 28, 2016

NEW-LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms

Hi Guys!

The latest offering from L’Oreal Paris has just landed – the Infallible Sexy Balms!

The idea of a Sexy Balm (which I do feel a bit silly saying if I’m to be honest) is that it’s an on-the-go, wherever-you-are, throw it on and Bob’s your uncle kind of product. This isn’t a precision application lip product, it’s super easy to use as well as being packed with a ton of moisture to keep lips feeling nothing less than fabulous for up to 12 hours.

The Sexy Balm formula is enriched with a moisturising gel balm, giving a weightless silky velvet texture and vibrant pigmentation, for colour that packs a punch. And there are two finishes available – Sheer for a subtle tint of moisturising colour, and Bold for a more intense and daring look.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-sheer-review

The Sheer Colour Sexy Balms come in five shades –

  • 102 Gossip – a light nude peachy pink.
  • 103 As If – a mid nude pink.
  • 104 Break the Rules – a muted coral pink.
  • 109 Such A Babe – a bright orange toned red.
  • 111 Go Pretty or Go Home – a bright purple toned fuchsia.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-sheer-swatches

The Sheer shades are amazingly moisturising, just like a lip balm, and they smell super sweet and juicy. If you have dry lips like I do these are definitely a must have for your handbag this summer! I’ve been trying out a couple of shades since yesterday and I haven’t needed to apply an actual lip balm once – I usually apply balm at least once or twice a day – so these definitely get a thumbs up from me.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-bold-review

And the Bold Colour Sexy Balms come in three shades –

  • 202 Adventure – an intense bright fuchsia pink.
  • 204 Never Stop – a bright orange coral.
  • 203 Yala Yolo – an intense bright blue toned red.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-bold-swatches

The Bold shades are amazingly bright and intensely pigmented, with a satin sheen finish. These are also surprisingly moisturising and feel really comfortable on the lips.

LOreal-Infallible-Sexy-Balms-review

I have to say the Sexy Balms are definitely one of my favourite L’Oreal products of late, they tick all the boxes for me – moisturising, easy to use and wear, and I love that L’Oreal have included two formulas for both sheer and full on looks.

L’Oreal Sexy Balms are £4.99 each and available now at Boots.

The Weekly Top 5 #12

Posted on July 19, 2015

the-weekly-top-5-no-12_edited-1

Hi Guys!

Well it’s the end of another week already, so it’s time for this weeks’ Sunday Weekly Top 5 post! I’ve been really busy working extra shifts this week, which has actually been great as I feel completely settled in with my new job now 🙂

I had a pretty good week up until yesterday. I was supposed to be going to an all day and night hen party, but came down with terrible anxiety and didn’t / couldn’t go. My anxiety creeps up on my like a thief in the night, I’ll be fine for ages then all of a sudden I’ll just feel terrible. After cancelling on my friend and being eaten up by guilt I ended up sleeping the whole day. I woke up feeling much better but had to just write the day off in the end, which was a shame.

Onwards and upwards anyway hey! Here’s this weeks top five –

Ghost Adventures – Ghost Adventures is actually a long time favourite of mine. My husband records them and we seem to be watching an episode pretty much every night now. If you haven’t heard of Ghost Adventures, it’s basically like a modern day, real life Ghostbusters! The team; Zak, Aaron and Nick take their high tech equipment to haunted locations and try to catch ghosts on camera or voice recorder. I was actually a bit spooked by this when I first started watching it, but I think I’m used to it now!

Freya Starlet Vertical Seam Bra in Electric Blue – (£36.00) You really can’t beat new undies to make you feel good! The Freya Starlet Vertical Seam Bra is a first for me from Freya and it’s just gorgeous! It has electric blue coloured sheer cups with a geometric lace pattern and contrasting polka dot bows to complete the look. I love that it’s so bright and pretty, and it fits like a dream. I just need the undercrackers to match now! 😀

6 Vitamin Shot Drink – (£24.99 for 12) I’m quite partial to the odd energy drink, so it’s great to come across one that’s actually been crated by expert nutritionists. 6vitaminshot is described as your one stop vitamin energy shot, giving you your recommended vitamin allowance as well as much more. The precise mix of ingredients has been developed by expert nutritionists to offer six key benefits;

  • Supporting energy release
  • Supporting concentration
  • Reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Supporting the immune system
  • Mental function and performance
  • Sugar free

Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturiser (£10.00) – I’ve tried countless lip balms in my time, and this is officially the best I’ve found so far. This lip moisturizer is a hydrating gel which provides lips with daily protection helping to prevent dryness and chapped lips, as well as acting as a treatment to restore and replenish already dry lips. Unlike other oils and balms, this Lip moisturiser contains absorbent fatty acids which nourish upon impact whilst providing a continual layer of hydrating protection throughout the day. If you have dry lips, I really can’t recommend this enough.

And lastly, this week’s go-to eyeliner of choice has been Empire by Urban Decay. Empire is a gorgeous deep aubergine shade with a metallic finish. I usually go for blue shades over purples but fancied a change and popped this little beauty in my makeup bag. I’ve been using it every day and I think I’ve found a new love for purple eyeliners! Please let me know if you have any other brighter purple shades you can recommend to me as I’d love to get some more.

In case you missed it –

La-Prairie-Anti-Aging-Rapid-Response-Booster

This week’s most popular blog post has definitely been Eight Accessory Ideas To Improve Your Blog Photographs where I’ve included a few ideas to inspire if you’re looking to up your photography game. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Other things worth mentioning –

I want to give massive thanks to Charlotte from F and R Designs for making my awesome new media kit! I actually never thought I needed a media kit up until recently, but over the last few months I’ve had a few requests from PR’s and companies for me to send my kit over so I thought it would be a good idea to get one done. If you’re thinking of getting a media kit made, I’d highly recommend Charlotte, apart from being lovely, she’s very talented and will listen to you to achieve what you’re looking for. Her Media Kit design services are currently on offer for £25 until the end of the month.

And lastly, it seems there’s been quite a lot of ‘blogging issues’ posts going around lately, from blogger burnout, to ‘we’re not appreciated’ type posts and discussing the difficulties blogger face (Which I completely agree with by the way) This is why I wanted to mention Jemma from Dorkface, I’ve recently discovered her blog, which is a mixture of beauty, lifestyle and kawaii cuteness! And I especially love her 10 Favourite Things About Blogging post, which focussed on the positive aspects of blogging. It’s always great to remind yourself why you blog, and what you enjoy about it.

L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Collection

Posted on April 7, 2015

L'OCCITANE-Pivoine-Sublime-Collection

Hi Guys!

I hope you had a lovely Easter and bank holiday? Back to the grindstone now hey! I’ve got the most gorgeous collection from L’Occitane to share with you today. I’m not overly familiar with L’Occitane products to be honest, so when these little beauties arrived in the post I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and try them out! This is the Pivoine Sublime Collection, meaning ‘Sublime Peony’.

After five years of research, L’OCCITANE have created an innovative line of perfecting skincare products suitable for all complexions. The Paeonia lactiflora – a species of peony historically used for it’s therapeutic properties – has been harnessed for it’s skin-perfecting properties, which L’Occitane have integrated into their patented Perfecting Peony Complex. Its aim is to hydrate the skin, correct uneven skin texture, act on pores and fine lines, and enhance the complexion.

The collection contains these naturally derived skin-perfecting ingredients –

  • Peony extract – Helps to correct skin-texture.
  • Hyaluronic acid – To intensely hydrate.
  • Horse chestnut extract – Gives skin a fresh glow and reduces the appearance of complexion irregularities.
  • Mineral-based pigments & interferential pearlisers – Reflects the light and adapts to all skin tones.
  • Natural powders – Have an instant smoothing effect; skin both looks and feels smoother.

loccitane-Pivoine-Sublime-Collection-review

And let’s take a look at the products…

First up we have the Skin Perfector (£38). This is an ultra light feeling serum that helps to visibly improve skin quality, giving your complexion a smooth and velvety soft feel, and leaving your skin even toned and luminous.

The Perfecting Cream (£32) has a patented formulation that contains an ‘intelligent’ texture agent with proven hydration-adjusting properties, meaning it can adapt it’s action the the climate and humidity levels – pretty clever hey? The cream feels luxurious yet supple, with a velvety finish. It also smells divine!

I’m in love the Skin Tone Perfecting CC Cream (£25). It’s formulated with the Perfecting Peony Complex, colour correcting pigments and pearly particles, which work together to perfect the skin and give a brighter and more even complexion. This is also a multi-use product, so whether you’re looking for an illuminating makeup base to use underneath your foundation, or for a more natural no-makeup look this can also be used on it’s own to add radiance to your complexion. The product itself is a silky white cream, which transforms on contact with the skin, giving a natural yet illuminated finish. If you suffer with a dull or lacklustre complexion I’d highly recommend you give this cream a go.

The Perfecting Mist (£14) is an ultra fine and delicate scented beauty mist that gives your skin an instant boost of refreshment. It’s alcohol free and aims to moisturise your complexion whilst leaving skin looking fresh and radiant. This can also be used to help your makeup last longer.

And lastly L’Occitane have included four Tinted Lip Balms (£12 each) into this collection. Enriched with Perfecting Peony Extract, the creamy balms glide onto lips with ease, to nourish, smooth, protect (SPF25) and give a subtle tint of colour. The fresh and natural shades are perfect to heighten the glow of a nude complexion.

I’m beyond impressed with all of these products, but my favourites are definitely the CC Cream for it’s brightening properties and the tinted lip balms which I’ve been using constantly over the last few days. I’d love to hear if you use L’Occitane products and if there’s anything you recommend I should try?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

The Under £10 Lip Balm Guide

Posted on February 4, 2015

lip-balms

Hi Guys!

My lips are officially a complete pain in the butt. If you’re a regular reader you may have picked up on this! I’ve always suffered with dry, cracked and flaky lips which seem to get worse in the colder months, so I’m forever on the hunt for the perfect lip treatment. Because of this I’ve basically become a bit of a lip balm hoarder, I’ve tried most high street brands that are decently priced and readily available, and there really are masses of balms, creams and treatments available now. I thought it would be handy to put a post together to let you know my thoughts on some of the reasonably priced lip balms I’ve tried – basically those I have that are under £10.

Papaya Gold Paw Paw Moisturising Balm is a new addition to my collection. This moisturising balm is enriched with Bio Active Manuka Honey, a topical balm that soothes, relieves and moisturises dry, sensitive, chaffed and irritated skin and dry chapped lips. It’s a fab all round product that can also be used on eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. I love that this is a multi-use dry skin product in a handy portable tube. This works fantastically well on the lips with a subtle, pleasant scent. This comes in a massive tube and it’s a real bargain at £5.99 from Boots.

Hurraw! Balm – Another new product in my stash, Hurraw! balms are made of premium organic, vegan and raw ingredients and contains certified organic, cold pressed and centrifuged extracted, nut and seed oils and butters. No petroleum, parabens, preservatives, artifical flavours or colours, these balms are gluten free, soy free, and shea free. If you want products as natural as possible, Hurraw! is where it’s at. In terms of performance, Hurraw! is great for mildly dry lips. This is £3.99 from mypure.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula – This Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balm, enriched with Vitamin E and with the added benefit of SPF 15, helps prevent and protect chapped, cracked or wind-burned lips. This is a great balm for mildly dry lips and a complete bargain for only £1.99 from Boots.

Nivea Lip Care Pearly Shine – £2.29 from Boots. I love the idea of a lip balm that also makes your lips look pretty, and this really does give a pearly shine! It’s not the best balm in the world though and I found it didn’t really sink into the lips unfortunately.

Lush Mint Julips – £5.50 from LUSH. Ok I know it’s not actually a balm, but I think this product is worth mentioning anyway. Mint Julips is a gentle lip scrub with warming peppermint and sweet vanilla combined with real sugar crystals to buff away any flaky skin. I find this scrub works really well, followed by a dose of balm it leaves my lips super soft!

Nuxe Reve de Miel – £9.50 from Space NK. This is an intensely hydrating lip balm to protect and repair dry, sore and chapped lips. Their winning formula comprises of honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence to instantly protect, repair and restore comfort to chapped lips. This balm really is fantastic, it really sunk in to my lips and was intensely moisturising. I currently take this Nuxeeverywhere with me!

Anatomicals Never Lose Your Cherry – I love Anatomicals fun packaging! This balm is designed to soften-up your lips and maintain a perfectly gorgeous pout. This is a lovely moisturising balm that worked really well when my lips were slightly dry. This is £2.55 from ASOS.

Skin Shop’s Liquorice Balm – This is a product specifically for cold sore sufferers to use between outbreaks. A trial by the Herpes Virus Association found that Liquorice Balm helped reduce the frequency and intensity of cold sore outbreaks if used regularly. Liquorice Balm can be rubbed into lips as often as necessary and not only could it help reduce cold sore outbreaks, it is also a nourishing balm that helps keep lips well-conditioned and smelling candy-shop sweet. £7.95 from skinshop.

Liquorice and Melissa Rescue Lip Gel – And this is for use when you already have coldsores. This is an intensive gel containing 8% liquorice extract and an extract of Melissa. It designed for quick and easy application to maintain the good condition of lips. £7.95 from skinshop.

Carmex Lip Balm Tube – Carmex has been one of my go-to lip balms for years upon years since my school days! Whether it’s in a tube or pot I’ve always used Carmex without problem. I find they work well on mild to moderately dry lips. £2.69 from Boots.

EOS Lip Balm – £6.50 from Selfridges. Ok so this is a bit of a funny one. I was originally a fan of EOS lip balms, and apart from the Blueberry and Acai one featured here, I would always have a few others dotted around the house. But since the cold weather hit and my lips have become even more troublesome, I find this balm just kind of sits on the lips and doesn’t really moisturise that well. Sad face.

Lansinoh Nipple Cream – £7.49 from John Lewis. This stuff is 100% natural, paraben free, has no additives, preservatives or chemicals, and no taste, colour or smell. Of course it’s technically a nipple cream, but it also works amazingly well on the lips, and is just the same, but cheaper than Dr Lipp products. I highly recommend this for extra dry lips, and I’ve got the full details in a post here.

Bee Good Vanilla and Honey Lip Balm – This deeply rich and nourishing balm includes British beeswax, natural source vitamin E, British borage oil; a rich source of skin strengthening essential fatty acids and British echium oil to replenish dry skin. This is a lovely balm that did the trick and was super moisturising. £4.75 from bee good.

Ok so overall there really are some fab lip balms out there that won’t break the bank, by my personal stand out ones definitely have to be Nuxe Reve de Meil, Lansinoh and Papaya Gold Paw Paw to sooth my super dry lips.

I hope you’ve found this post useful and I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations that I haven’t tried yet? xxx

The Best Lip Balm Money Can Buy! (and it’s not actually a lip balm)

Posted on November 25, 2013

Hi Guys!

As we all know, ’tis the season to have dry skin – and cracked lips. Unfortunately this is a problem for me all year round which just gets worse as the weather gets colder. So I’m constantly on the hunt for the perfect lip balm. I’ve tried so many, but often found the more expensive ones were no better than the cheap high street ones. The most I’ve paid is about £12 / £13 and it was exactly the same as a bog standard chapstick from Boots! I have since discovered and recently tried Dr Lipp which is absolutely fantastic and big favourite among many people, but is on the expensive side. If you haven’t heard of Dr Lipp’s Original Nipple Balm for Lips here is a bit more info –

Dr.Lipp has become a global cult beauty staple for leaving lips smooth and soft with a glossy sheen. An extremely versatile healing and nourishing balm that was originally developed as a nipple balm for breastfeeding women because of its ultra hydrating & hypoallergenic multipurpose properties, Dr.Lipp has many benefits both medical and for beauty and is ideal for dry cuticles, dry skin patches, burns and abrasions, severely chapped lips, sore nipples, split ends, eczema, babies’ bottoms, and much much more.

Dr.Lipp is 100% pure and natural, hyper allergenic, tasteless and odourless, contains no parabens, or fragrance and is approved by Ecocert France.  Made from 100% ultra pure medical grade Lanolin. dr lipp review

So it’s basically a magic miracle product with a zillion and one uses! This brought me on to the idea of using nipple cream for sore lips, and reminded me of when I’d just had my son I used a purple tubed nipple cream which was fantastic. I remembered the midwife telling me it made a great lip balm too. So I went and dug it out of the cupboard to give it a go – that product was Lasinoh HPA Lanolin. Here is a bit more info about it –

Lansinoh HPA® Lanolin is the safest, purest nipple cream and completely hypoallergenic. It has been specially developed to help soothe and protect sore, cracked nipples in breastfeeding mothers.100% Lansinoh HPA® Lanolin – the world’s purest Lanolin Nipple Cream.

  • No need to remove before breastfeeding.
  • Paraben free.
  • 100% natural.
  • No additives, preservatives or chemicals.
  • No taste, colour or smell – the most acceptable nipple cream for your breastfed baby.

lasinoh review for lips

Lasinoh is promoted solely as a nipple balm, but if you look at the ingredients Dr Lipp and Lasinoh are both made of 100% lanolin. In essence they are the same product! I’ll now just compare the product size and price for you…

Dr Lipp 15ml tube is £11.40 from Space NK, Lookfantastic and BeautyBay (mine is a 3ml sample pictured)

Lasinoh HPA Lanolin 40ml tube is £6.66 from Amazon or £9.99 from Boots (mine is a 56ml pictured)

Yes a 40ml tube is a bit of a beast to be lugging around but hey you get over 2 and a half times more product than Dr Lipp for a much cheaper price! My Lasinoh tube will last for absolutely ages but I know this is the one I’ll definitely be repurchasing again when it does run out! If you’re looking for an amazing lip balm this winter I’d definitely recommend you give Lasinoh a go!

I hope you enjoyed my post and found it useful 🙂 xx
