Beauty: NEW YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks

Posted on October 31, 2017

Hi Guys!

The latest must-have releases from YSL have recently landed at TSNC HQ – the Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks. These brand new liquid lip stains really are quite innovative, offering an ultra-luxe formula promising to deliver intense colour payoff, with a naked lip feel…

So is this a lip stain, or a liquid lipstick? Well actually the answer is both. Traditionally, liquid lipsticks have quite a thick, heavy formula, that feels fairly weighty and noticeable on the lips, and of course we all know liquid lipsticks are usually really drying too. So YSL have come up with a kind of hybrid product – the Tatouage Couture Matte Stain Liquid Lipsticks offer the best of both worlds –

Like a stain, the formula is amazingly lightweight and inky, and when you apply it, it really does feel like there’s nothing on your lips, maybe just the hint of a balm and that’s it. And also like a stain, these products do leave a stain behind after you’ve wiped them off (of course the brighter and deeper colours leave more intense stains)

But, like a liquid lipstick, they also have really good pigmentation. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not completely 100% opaque, but considering the weightless formula, I think YSL have done an excellent job of giving a remarkable amount of colour, without the heavy, drying feeling of a traditional liquid lipstick. I’d actually go so far as to say these are slightly moisturising too – who’d have thought we’d ever see this in a matte finish liquid lipstick!

The applicator is also like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’s wide, flat and slanted, with a hollowed out section in the centre to pool the product ready for spreading on the lips. The pointed end really helps you apply with precision as the sharp edge is perfect for defining the lip line – you can really tell this product has been carefully thought out right to the finer details.

There are 18 shades available, and the ones I have above are –

  • 01 Rouge Tatouage – a true bright red.
  • 03 Rose Ink – an intense fuchsia pink
  • 08 Black Red Code – a deep burgundy red.
  • 09 Grenat No Rule – a blue toned red.
  • 11 Rose Illicite – a light baby pink.
  • 13 True Orange – a true intense orange.
  • 17 Unconventional Orange – a bright tangerine orange.

You can see that the only swatch that looked quite sheer was Rose Illicite, the baby pink shade. But this actually applied just as well as the others on the lips, giving great colour payoff.

If you’re a fan of matte finish liquid lipsticks, but not that heavy, drying feel on the lips, then I highly recommend you check these out.

The YSL Tatouage Lip Stains are £29.00 each and available now at YSL, Boots and John Lewis.

Beauty: New Dior Products at Feelunique

Posted on August 22, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have the pleasure today of trying out, and sharing with you a few exciting new products from Dior Beauty at Feelunique. I have a gorgeous eyeshadow palette, a new lip tint, and a cushion foundation, as well as a couple of new fragrances – lets get stuck in!

Starting with the Dior Addict Lip Tattoo (£25.00) – described as the first long wear lip tint by Dior, the Lip Tattoo promises 10-hour hold with a comfortable, weightless formula, as well as a no transfer finish.

Though it looks like a normal lipstick, the Lip Tattoo is far from what you’d expect from a traditional liquid lipstick – the Lip Tattoo has a light liquid texture that feels barely there on the lips, and it applies with a sheer finish that gives lips a light flush of colour while boosting their natural tone. I have shade Natural Rosewood 491 which is a pretty muted rose shade that’s subtle in terms of colour and slightly deepens the shade of my natural lips – it’s the perfect lip stain for the coming Autumn.

I also have one of the many 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes (£45.00) – this gorgeous palette is in option 767 Inflame, and it contains five beautiful eyeshadows in both matte and satin finishes. I’m beyond impressed with both the pigmentation and the texture of these eyeshadows – they’re buttery soft and really do blend like a dream. I particularly love the middle shade which is a pretty matte coral pink, and the bottom left shade which is a deeper rose toned pink with a lovely shimmer finish.

And lastly for makeup, the Diorskin Forever Cushion Foundation (£35.00) – promising a perfect complexion for up to 16hrs, the Diorskin Forever Cushion Foundation contains fine mattifying powders to instantly create the perfect luminous matte finish, as well as a combination of two Wear-Lock polymers which adorn the skin in a stretchy veil to set the texture and pigments.

I have the lightest shade available, 011 Cream. Initially I thought this may be slightly on the yellow side, but on application it actually suited my neutral skin tone well. It was also lighter coverage that what I was expecting, which is fine but personally I like a little more coverage than what this foundation offers. The finish however, was really nice. It was definitely matte, yet velvety rather than an intense matte, and it also gave my complexion a slight luminosity which I loved. This is definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a base with a light, natural matte finish.

On to fragrance now, I have the beautiful Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming EDP (from £49.50 for 30ml) – Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming is the new olfactory variation of Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, and it’s a wonderfully joyful floral scent that’s easy to wear every day –

The fragrance opens with tangy and striking top notes of Red Berry Accord, with Raspberry, Pomegranate and Blackcurrant Accord heightened by the spicy teasing tingle of Pink Peppercorn. At the heart the magnificent Grasse Rose Absolute unfurls in perfect harmony with the beautifully spirited Rosa Damascena, while the exquisite May Rose embraces a radiant Peony Accord. The base of White Musk notes envelops the entire composition to leave you with a fresh and rounded finish.

  • Top Notes: Raspberry, Pomegranate, Blackcurrant and Pink Peppercorn.
  • Heart Notes: Grasse Rose Absolute, Rosa Damascena, May Rose and Peony Accord.
  • Base Notes: White Musks.

And lastly J’Adore In Joy EDT (from £59.00 for 50ml) – whenever I see a J’Adore fragrance bottle, I always imagine Charlize Theron strutting towards the camera whilst ripping off her jewellery fin the iconic TV advert… anyway, J’Adore In Joy is the latest fragrance in the J’Adore family.

For this scent, Dior perfumers have created an original note – Fleur de Sel that seems to sit on the tip of your tongue. Described as both joyful and fresh, this note is instantly charming and equally compelling. At the heart shines tropical and solar Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine Sambac, leading to a base of a fruity, juicy Peach note, giving the fragrance velvety softness that renders the composition even more delicious.

  • Top Notes: Fleur de sel.
  • Heart Notes: Ylang Ylang and Jasmine Sambac.
  • Base Notes: Peach.

All the above products and more are available now at Feelunique.

MAC Versicolour Stain – The Gloss / Stain Hybrid

Posted on May 26, 2016

MAC-Versicolour-Stain-The-Gloss-Stain-Hybrid

Hi Guys!

I have another fantastic new product from MAC to share with you today – this is the Versicolour Stain, a liquid lip colour offering the ultimate fusion of a gloss and a stain in one product.

MAC-Versicolour-Stain-review

The ultimate fusion of gloss + stain in one fluid formula that melts onto lips for a full-on glassy shine that lasts and lasts and lasts. Infused with emollient oils, its creamy, lightweight texture stays bright, lustrous and so comfortable without ever cracking or peeling. Like an energy shot for your lips, a range of resilient hues live long into the day (and night).

I’ve been trying out shade Preserving Passion, which is described as a deep wine colour. The colour payoff wasn’t quite as intense as I’d initially expected, but overall it is a fab little lip stain, giving a medium colour payoff with a nice glossy finish. This did last all day on my lips, which is great news, but I should also note that the formula felt quite drying as the day went on – which can often be the case with stain products. So you’ll just want to make sure your lips are in tip top condition before using this product 🙂

The Versicolour Stains are available in 16 bright and intense shades –

  • Always & Forever – pinky salmon.
  • Can’t Stop Won’t Stop – intense warm orange.
  • Careless Energy – bright raspberry pink.
  • Constant Craving – mid tone blue pink.
  • Energy Shot – pale nude pink.
  • Forever, Darling – intense orange red.
  • It’s Neverending – deep raspberry.
  • Last Minute – intense pinky cranberry.
  • Let’s Stay Together – mid tone warm pink.
  • Long Distance Relationship – intense mid tone violet.
  • Long Live The Night – pale warm nude.
  • Perpetual Holiday – deep grape purple.
  • Preserving Passion – deep wine.
  • Resilient Rouge – bright cherry red.
