Sleek Makeup NEW Lip Shot Lip Glosses

Posted on October 24, 2018

Sleek are one of my all time favourite budget beauty brands, I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again, I can’t get enough of their True Colour Lipstick in Liquer! Anyway that’s not what I’m talking about today. I wanted to share some of their fantastic new releases with you – the gorgeous new Lip Shots…

Our highly pigmented intense impact and shine gloss. Non-sticky formula on your lips, developed to compliment all skin tones. It’s mega full-coverage and long-lasting. Get full pay off in one stroke.

The shades I have are as follows –

  • Corrupted – an intense true red
  • Do What I Want – a bright intense cool toned pink
  • Dressed To Kill – a mid plum purple
  • Ready Or Not – a deep plum with a hint of taupe
  • Behind Closed Doors – a muted pinky mauve
  • Plot Twist – a muted peachy pink
  • Get Free – a light bright peach
  • Don’t Ask – a nude light beige

You can see by the swatches that these glosses are amazingly well pigmented, and after trying them out I can tell you this is absolutely the case on the lips too. I’m honestly so impressed with these glosses, they give the most beautiful, opaque, true colour, with a shiny gloss finish.

Of course these are glosses, so I wouldn’t expect them to stay put for hours on end. They do last well – without any stickiness, and basically do exactly what you’d expect. These are exactly what I’d hoped they would be – another winner from Sleek Makeup!

Have you tried any products from Sleek Makeup? Let me know! xx

Sleek Cosmetics Lip Shots are £4.99 each and available now at Boots.

Too Faced Melted Matte-tallic Liquid Lipsticks

Posted on October 11, 2018

Too Faced have so many new products launching right now, there’s the 20th Anniversary Collection, the Tutti Fruity Collection, and not forgetting the brand new Christmas gift sets! Today however, I have some of their latest lipsticks from the Melted range – the Melted Matte-tallics…

Drench lips in an uber – luxurious, velvety matte formula that coats lips in a unique, brushed metal matte finish. The formula remains lighweight and comfortable with up to 24 hours wear, without compromising on the dazzling dimensional matte effect.

The Melted Matte-tallic lipsticks come in 13 shades, and the ones I have above are as follows –

  • Faking It – a warm toned medium nude.
  • Breakup Makeup– a pretty nude pink.
  • Bitch, I’m Too Faced – an intense true red.
  • I Wanna Rock With You – a deep burgundy.
  • Scream My Name – an intense deep purple.
  • The Real Teal – a deep blue toned teal.
  • Magic Metal Transformer – different from the above lipsticks, the Transformer uses opalescent prismatic pearls to give the lips an iridescent finish. This has been made to use over liquid lipsticks, or on its own.

Firstly I must apologise as I just couldn’t get the photos of my swatches to do justice to the unusual metallic yet matte finish, so I’ve attached a stock photo of swatches which I think is pretty good. (Note the far right swatch is the teal shade with the Transformer on top)

The liquid formula is smooth and light, and feels comfortable to wear – it is slightly drying but I think that’s to be expected with most liquid lipsticks that fully dry down. Too Faced promise ’24-hour long-wearing color’ which I have no idea if it’s true or not. I’m not sure who could wear a lipstick for 24 hours straight! Anyway, the finish like I’ve already mentioned, is quite unusual. Too Faced describes it really well – ‘brushed metal’ is the term they use – metallic, yet matte. They kind of have a sheen, but no shine. It’s definitely something different! In terms of wear, they do last a long time, and are completely transfer proof when they dry down. I actually think these are pretty fun and different, and definitely worth checking out if you’re a Too Faced fan! My favourite shade is Breakup Makeup 🙂

Too Faced Melted Matte-tallic Liquid Lipsticks are available now at Debenhams and Too Faced.

Hot New Brand Alert! MAKE Beauty now available at Feel Unique!

Posted on July 30, 2018

As soon as I saw MAKE Beauty had arrived on the Feel Unique site, I was intrigued to find out what they were about. The packaging reminded me of Topshop makeup (do you agree??) and the range just looked very modern, slick and of high quality. I’ve been trying out a few of their products this week…

Feelunique is launching New York beauty brand MAKE with two sensational exclusives! Socially minded, MAKE believe there are no beauty rules –it’s all about being confident in your own skin. Co –founded in 2013 by Ariana Mouyiaris, daughter of renowned makeup entrepreneur and philanthropist Nikos Mouyiaris, MAKE champions the modern woman. Introducing a line-up of 32 products, with two exclusives to Feelunique, the range offers minimal makeup must haves, multi-functional essentials and technology-driven skincare.

Firstly I have the Succulent Mist – this is a Feel Unique Exclusive, and I absolutely love it! This cooling mist is suitable for both face and body, and it’s designed to repair hot, sun parched or environmentally challenged skin. It contains cactus extract to help hydrate and refresh, and the aloe vera, prickly pear and hyaluronic acid work together to nourish and detoxify the skin from overexposure to pollutants and toxins, whilst reducing the appearance of redness. It has a wonderful instant cooling effect on the skin, and I’ve been using this daily since I’ve received it – it’s a lifesaver in this heatwave!

I also have the Moonlight Neck Repair – this is another Feelunique Exclusive. It’s a lightweight gel for the neck and décolleté to address technology-induced, premature wrinkling (basically from looking down at your phone so much!) It contains kigelia and acacia gum extract to help firm, lift and tighten the skin while providing potent anti-oxidant, anti-aging protection, and sodium hyaluronate which mimics the hyaluronic acid produced by the skin to give added volume and plumpness.

And the Marine Salve – this is easily one of my favourite products from the brand. It’s essentially a multifunctional topical balm that can be used anywhere on the body to relieve and calm unhappy skin. You can use it to treat chapped lips, dry, cracked and irritated skin, chafing, cuts, you name it! It also creates a moisturising barrier to help protect skin from dryness, wind and other external aggressors, whilst shielding against pollution, heavy metals and free radicals. This is a fantastic all-rounder that’s perfect for keeping in your handbag.

Next I have the Moonlight Moisturizing Primer – have you ever heard of a black primer? I definitely haven’t! Though the product is black in colour, it quickly transforms into a translucent gel when applied to the skin. This unique silicone-free hydrating gel cream glides on to the skin to moisturise, mattify and prep the skin whilst providing a protective shield against urban pollution. It’s a fantastic makeup primer, and now a staple in my makeup bag!

On to makeup now, the Skin Illuminator in shade Skir is just beautiful. Inspired by the Aurora Borealis (with shade names that reference Scandinavian terms for light: Skir, Llos and Nor) this highlighter contains light-diffusing pigments and gives a gorgeous white pearlescent glimmer to the skin. If you love striking highlighters this is definitely one for you!

And lastly I have a couple of lipsticks, in both available formulas – Silk Cream and Matte. The Silk Cream Lipstick in Taffy (a mid pink) doubles as a protective moisturising treatment with antioxidant vitamins, rosehip, soybean and safflower oils. Taffy is a lovely nude pink that feels smooth and hydrating on the lips and is perfect for every day wear. And the Matte Lipstick in Scarlet (a bright red) is an intensely-pigmented matte lipstick with a velvet finish. The super long-wearing formula contains sunflower seed oil to glide and blend effortlessly onto the lips, and vitamin A to condition and hydrate. I adore this shade! Again it feels wonderfully comfortable on the lips and the matte finish is also long lasting too. These both get a thumbs up from me!

I’m honestly really impressed with this range, and so glad Feel Unique kindly gave me the opportunity to discover some new beauty favourites! I love the Succulent Mist, Marine Salve, Skin Illuminator and Lipsticks especially. I’d love to hear if you’ve discovered any new brands lately?

MAKE Beauty products are available now at Feel Unique.

Beauty: New La Petite Robe Noir Hippie Chic Collection from Guerlain

Posted on March 16, 2018

Hi Guys!

I’ve had a bit of a break, but I’m back today with some new beauty treats to share with you! It’s been quite a while since I’ve tried anything from Guerlain (one of my favourite luxury brands) but I now have a few of their brand new SS18 releases to try out, let’s take a look…

I’m a big fan of super lightweight liquid lipsticks, and the new Colour’Ink Liquid Lipstick has a an extremely light “no texture” effect, which sounds fantastic to me. The formula is spot on, being silky smooth and lightweight, feeling very much like a hybrid between a stain and a liquid lipstick. Application is easy and it’s great that the product is also buildable. A single layer gives a natural light tint effect, and two to three layers gives a more intense and striking result.

The Colour’Ink Liquid Lipstick is available in fifteen shades, I have L110 On Fleek, a light caramel nude shade, and L120 #Empowered, an intense true red, and there are also two Lip Transformers, specifically made to change the finish of your lip look.

The blue shade L101 #Adventurous, is made to be applied before your favourite liquid lipstick to give the colour a twist. I must admit, I didn’t really have my hopes up for this shade, it just looked so bright and a bit scary! I gave it a go though and this is where the buildabilty of the formula really comes into play. I tried a single (sheer) layer of the blue shade, which, on its own did make my lips look a bit ‘dead’, but, applying the red over the top actually gave a really nice deep reddish purple colour, and I was pleasantly surprised!

The other transformer (which I don’t have) is the Lip & Shine, this is a 2-in-1 product that can be used both as a base to moisturize the lips and as a top coat to change the finish of your liquid lipstick from matte to shiny.

Next I have Guerlain’s new Roll’ink Liner, which is extremely similar to MAC’s Roller Liner which was released last year (and I think there’s been another brand or two that have also released similar products). It features a super tiny ‘pizza cutter’ style wheel applicator, which is perfect for creating the finest lines with precision. The formula is an intense black, which promises to be no-transfer and waterproof, and after trying this out I can tell you it doesn’t move around of its own accord, but if you touch your eyes it will start to flake off. This is a great liner though that’s easy to use, and perfect for those looking for a really fine line.

And lastly, the Brow Duo – this nifty little 2-in-1 product includes a brow mascara at one end and a highlighter at the other, and comes in two shades. I have it in 10 Light, and I have to say I think this is my favourite product out of the bunch. The brow mascara has a small wand, which is perfect for larger or medium brows (it’d be too big for thinner brows though). You’re not going to get a full on intense ‘drawn on’ brow look with this product, but this is a good thing in my books. Instead it gives a great fuller, more natural look, providing definition and helping to fill in any gaps between hairs.

The highlighter is also lovely. It has a smooth creamy-texture, in a light champagne shade. This colour is perfect for lighter skin tones and works well as a brow bone highlight, as well as on the inner corner of the eyes.

All the above products are available now at FeelUnique and Debenhams.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: The Revlon Lip Wardrobe

Posted on February 5, 2018

Hi Guys!

I have a few new lip releases from Revlon to share with you today! Now I must admit, Revlon isn’t a brand that I’d usually gravitate towards – for no other reason than I’m just not really familiar with their products. So when they offered to send over their ‘Lip Wardrobe’ including a selection of their new lip launches, I jumped at the chance and thought this would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the brand…

Firstly I have the Ultra HD Gel Lip Color (£5.99) – these are kind of half way between a lipstick and a balm, in a long twist up tube. The Ultra HD Gel Lip Colours include hyaluronic acid for an ultra hydrating formula, and the gel stick promises to be intensely hydrating, offering lightweight colour pigments suspended in a clear gel base, with a creamy mango and whipped vanilla scent.

I think these are probably my favourite products out of the bunch. My problem is I more than often have dry lips, and I love wearing matte liquid lipsticks, which really don’t help. So a nice lightweight hydrating lip product is just what I need – I love that these have a decent amount of pigment for a light hint of colour, and feel moisturising and super comfortable to wear.

  • 720 HD Pink Cloud – a sheer petal pink.
  • 700 HD Sand – a sheer light apricot.

Next I have the Ultra HD Matte Lip Color (above top product, £6.99) and the Ultra HD Matte Lip Color Metallic (bottom two shades, £6.99) – these products are both described as lightweight, high definition gel matte lip colours, offering a moisturising, velvety feel. They have the same light mango and vanilla fragrance as the above products. The original Matte Lip Colour comes in 7 shades, and the Matte Lip Colour Metallic comes in 5 shades.

The formula of these lipsticks is nothing like a traditional matte finish liquid lipstick, the product itself is very thick, yet it feels very light, smooth and moisturising on the lips – it really feels like you’re wearing a lip balm! They look particularly shiny on my swatches above but are way more matte when applied on the lips. I should also mention that they don’t ‘set’ or dry down like a traditional liquid lipstick, which is why they feel so hydrating. These products will move around and you’ll probably want to wear a lip liner too for definition.

  • 675 HD Infatuation – a deep burgundy
  • 705 HD Shine – a metallic mauve pink.
  • 690 HD Gleam – a metallic light peach.

For fans of a more traditional lipstick, there’s also the Super Lustrous Lipsticks (£5.49) – these are formulated with microfine pigments, promising high-impact colour, with a smooth moisturizing feel.

These lipstick actually feel very similar on the lips to the Ultra HD Gel Lip Colors. They’re moisturising, and have more pigment, but a similar sheeny finish. I really like these and I think they’d definitely make great affordable day to day lipsticks.

  • 045 Naughty Plum – a mid muted plum.
  • 046 Bombshell Red – a slightly blue toned red.
  • 044 Bare Affair – a light peach toned beige.

And lastly the Colorstay Lipliner (£4.29) – promising longwearing definition, these lipliners help lip colour last longer and prevent feathering and bleeding. There’s not really too much I can say about these lip liners – they do the job! They’re not drying in any way, and they come with a built-in sharpener, which is very handy.

  • Plum – a mid toned pinky plum.
  • Nude – a light beige nude.

The above Revlon products are all available now at Boots.

I’d love to hear if you use Revlon products, and what you’d recommend? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: Too Faced Peaches & Cream Collection

Posted on January 22, 2018

Hi Guys!

Before Christmas I was fortunate enough to be invited to the launch party for the brand new Too Faced store at Carnaby Street, London. This is pretty big news for the brand as it’s their first ever stand alone store worldwide – and the party was SO much fun! We got to check out loads of new products which are only available in the UK exclusively in store, and we were then transported (via rickshaw!) to the after party, it was the best night!

I was also given the most amazing goody bag at the event, containing absolutely loads of Too Faced products. The bag included pretty much the whole new Peaches & Cream Collection which I want to share with you today…

Starting with the Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette (£33.00) – this gorgeous looking palette contains 12 matte eyeshadows in a selection of beautiful warm tones. The eyeshadow formula is infused with Too Faced’s exclusive Comfort Matte Technology, promising an easily bendable finish with intense colour payoff – and of course the whole palette smells of Peaches & Sweet Fig Cream! I’m so pleased that these eyeshadows applied just as nicely as I’d hoped – I won’t lie, the formula was a little on the stiff side, but not so bad that it caused a problem. If you’re looking for a warm toned matte-only palette this is definitely worth checking out.

I have a few of the cheek products too – the three above are all housed in similar peach shaped packaging, and all have a melting powder formula. This means they have a creamy texture which transforms into a lightweight powder on application. All three promise buildable, bendable colour, and have the same light peaches and cream scent.

The Peach My Cheeks Blush in So Peachy (£25.00) can be used on both the face and lips, and I found it was easiest applied with fingers rather than a brush. The formula is creamy and velvety soft on the skin, giving a subtle and very pretty hint of colour on the cheeks. The Peach Frost Highlighter in Happy Face (£25.00) again has a creamy texture that turns powdery soft on application, and again I found application with fingers definitely worked the best. This highlighter is a light champagne colour, and gives a subtle shimmery highlight. And the Bronzed Peach Bronzer in Toasted Peach (£25.00) – just like the previous two, I applied this with my fingers but found this one a bit harder to work with. I felt like this was harder to blend out and look even, though somebody more skilled than me could probably make it work pretty easily!

If you prefer powder formulas to creams, Too Faced also have a Sweetie Pie Powder Bronzer (£25.00) which honestly is the prettiest product I’ve ever seen! The compact includes four blendable shades which combine to give a radiant complexion and a soft, flawless look. The compact has a light gold overspray, which only lasts for a few uses, and the actual product underneath has a really nice pearly satin finish with buildable colour that’s very flattering. This worked really well on my pale skin and gave my complexion a lovely natural looking glow.

And there’s also a Peach Blur Finishing Powder (£25.00) – this is a translucent smoothing finishing powder with opal-correcting spheres to smooth harsh lines and blur imperfections. Though this powder appears peach coloured, it applies translucent and gives a super smooth, blurring effect that makes your skin look amazing! This powder also eliminates shine and just generally smoothes out the complexion – and I’m happy to say it doesn’t cling to dry areas. This is probably my favourite product out of the collection!

There is also a Peaches & Cream Foundation, which I don’t have, but I do have the Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder (£20.00) – this is a universal peach tinted setting powder designed to brighten the skin and create a silky smooth matte canvas. This product is oil and shine free, transfer-resistant, and promises 14 hours of wear. The formula is talc based and is super finely milled, making it feel amazingly soft and silky on the skin, and thought it didn’t live up to the 14 hours as promised, a light dusting of this did keep my nose matte for over half the day, and it didn’t cling to my dry skin, so this is a winner in my books!

Now on to the Peach Mist Mattifying Setting Spray (£27.00) – this is described as a refreshing, oil-controlling setting spray to keep makeup in place. It promises a matte finish, decreased shine and a soft-focus finish to blur imperfections, and it’s also supposed to last up to 16 hours. Again, the wear time has definitely been embellished here, but I did find that this gave my skin a lovely matte finish, which lasted around six hours or so.

And the Primed & Peachy Primer (£27.00) – this is a cooling primer that helps to blur flaws and smooth the complexion with a brightening peach tint. It gives a soft-focus finish that’s lightweight and comfortable. It also promises 12 hours of shine control, which again I think is reaching a bit, but it is a nice primer that definitely gives your foundation a decent matte base.

And lastly, I have a couple of the Peach Kiss Lipsticks (£19.00) – these lipsticks are of course packaged beautifully, and promise an intensely pigmented matte finish with eight hours of wear. The shades I have are Got Peach? a nude terracotta pink, and Where My Peaches At? which is a bright tangerine orange. Both shades are amazingly well pigmented and feel very comfortable and creamy on the lips. The finish isn’t a full on matte like you’d get with a liquid lipstick, but it’s still a very good demi-matte. These shades are really very nice but you’ll want to make sure your lips are in tip top condition before applying.

So what are my final thoughts? Well to begin with, the packaging is spot on. It’s cute, yet grown up and luxe feeling – definitely dressing table worthy. I absolutely loved the Just Peachy Mattes Eyeshadow Palette, Sweetie Pie Bronzer and Peach Blur Finishing Powder, and I’d highly recommend these if you’re looking to pick up a couple of items from the collection. Nothing was hideously bad in my books, though a couple of products could have been slightly better in terms of formula – and as a final thought, you should just be wary if you’re sensitive to or just not keen on scented products, as the whole collection is scented, with some products stronger than others. Personally I love the peachy scent, and I definitely think this collection is worth checking out of you’re a fan of Too Faced!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
