Beauty: Too Faced Natural Love Collection

Posted on June 29, 2017

Hi Guys!

The gorgeous Natural Love collection from Too Faced has recently landed at TSNC HQ, and I have the full lowdown for you today!

Starting with the lovely Natural Love Eyeshadow Palette (£52.00) – this beautiful palette contains a massive 30 eyeshadow shades, so though it might seem pricey at £52.00, it only works out at £1.73 per shadow, which is actually very reasonable. This is a must have palette for fans of nude and natural looks, but it also includes some darker shades so you can easily create a more in-depth smoky eye if required.

To create this palette, Too Faced selected their favourite neutral shades from three previous bestselling eye palettes – the Natural Eyes, Natural Matte, and Natural At Night palettes. They then paired these eyeshadows with cutting-edge textures and brand new colours – giving a modern spin on the traditional nude eye look. The Natural Love palette contains 7 matte, 13 shimmer and 10 sparkle shades, and the formula of all the shades is silky smooth, and well pigmented.

I haven’t had a chance to try all the shades out in depth as yet, but from what I have tried, I can tell you that Hot & Bothered is fabulous! It’s such a gorgeous burnt orange that really does give amazing colour payoff. Others to note are Love Bug, Push Up and Coffee Date – which are also all shimmer shades – these are definitely the best in terms of finish, and some of my favourite colours from the palette.

Next I have the Love Light Prismatic Highlighters (£25.00) – which truly are stunning. I literally love everything about these highlighters! The idea is that Too Faced wanted to capture the ethereal glow that occurs only when you’re in love – aww! This resulted in three beautiful shades, each with an innovative liquid-to-powder formula featuring a luminosity boosting agent and high pearl consistency. These highlighters really do give the most fantastic pearl shimmer finish – without any glitter or chunkiness.

The Love Light Highlighters are available in three shades –

  • You Light Up My Life – a golden yellow.
  • Blinded By The Light  – a champagne silver.
  • Ray of Light – a light beige pink.

And lastly the Melted Matte Liquified Matte Lipsticks (£19.00) – six new shades of Melted Mattes have been introduced in the Natural Love collection, and if you’re not familiar with the Melted Matte formula, you really need to check it out! These are one of my all time favourite liquid lipsticks – they apply like a smooth gloss, giving full, rich colour, and dry down to a true mate finish that lasts for hours.

Swatches from top to bottom –

  • Granny Panties – a lilac toned greige.
  • Wine Not? – a deep wine berry.
  • Wicked – an intense green.
  • Suck It – a muted rose.
  • Holy Chic! – a light nude peach.
  • Jawbreaker – a cool toned intense pink.

Though I’m not a fan of the name, I love the colour of Granny Panties (ha ha!) and I also love Wicked as it’s such an unusual, intense green.

Overall I’m really impressed with this collection. The palette is fantastic and just full of easy to wear shades. The highlighters look beautiful on the skin, and I also love the new innovative shades of the Melted Mattes. I’d love to hear what you think?

Too Faced products are available now at Debenhams.

Beauty: Nip & Fab Launches New Makeup Line!

Posted on June 8, 2017

Hi Guys!

A few weeks ago now I received a surprise package from the team behind Nip & Fab – and I was so excited to find it contained a selection of products from their brand new makeup line.

Nip & Fab have been making high quality, reasonably priced skincare products for many years now, so I think makeup is a great addition to their range, as well as being a natural progression for the brand. Let’s take a look at the products…

Ok so Nip & Fab have launched quite a large range of makeup products initially, which is great news. Starting with the Foundation (£12.95) – there are 10 shades available, which look to span a decent range of colours, and they’ve also included a pure white Foundation Light Mixer to lighten any foundation you may already have, and a dark brown Foundation Dark Mixer, to deepen your foundation should you want to.

I have the foundation in shade 25, which as you can see definitely isn’t the right shade for me, but it appears to give a nice natural / dewy finish with medium coverage.

I tried mixing it with some of the foundation lightener to get a better shade, and though the lightener worked well to change the colour, it still didn’t really work as the right colour for me. I already have a foundation that is slightly too dark for me (but otherwise the right tone) so I’m going to try the Light Mixer with that and see if I can get a spot on match.

Next on to the Colour Correctors (£8.95). These come in a selection of four shades, to help correct any colour issues you may have –

  • Banana – This yellow toned corrector is great for concealing dark under eye circles and can be used to subtly highlight and brighten the high points of the face.
  • Lavender – This purple toned corrector eliminates any unwanted yellow undertones to the skin and works well under foundation to create a perfectly even-toned complexion.
  • Terracotta – The warm orange tone neutralises blue undertones and is ideal for concealing under eye circles and dark spots.
  • Peppermint – This green toned corrector neutralises redness on the skin and is ideal for covering blemishes and reducing irregular skin pigmentation.

For the lips, Nip & Fab have included Liquid Lipsticks (£7.95) and a small selection of Lip Liners (£5.95) in their launch. I have the full collection of Liquid Lipsticks which I thought would be worth swatching and sharing, as the colours look quite similar when placed together. The shades are all light to medium nudes including beige, pink and brown tones –

From left to right –

  • Cinnamon – a mid toffee brown nude.
  • Toffee – a mid caramel nude.
  • Biscuit – a warm brown caramel nude.
  • Marshmallow – a mid peach toned nude.
  • Pink Lemonade – a light pink toned nude.
  • Candy – a light beige pink nude.
  • Tart – a light cool toned nude.
  • Cool Nude – a light cool toned beige.

(Since trying these, Nip & Fab have also added three new slightly darker nude shades of Liquid Lipsticks to their site – Brownie, Spice and Brandy)

And here are the swatches – somehow I managed to misplace Cinnamon between photographing it and swatching, and I still haven’t found it. It’s literally just disappeared! So the above swatches start on the left with Toffee.

I have to say my favourite shades are Biscuit, Marshmallow and Pink Lemonade – these are all slightly pink or peach toned, and aren’t too light, which I think make them easier to wear. I’ve worn a couple of these and they dry down in decent time and last for hours before you need to re-apply.

Nip & Fab have also included a nice selection of palettes in their initial launch. There are eyeshadow palettes and contour palettes, and a single highlighter palette and blush palette. I have the Contour Palette in Dark and the Highlighter Palette.

The Highlighter Palette (£15.00) contains six large sized pans –

  • Selfie – a light cream coloured shimmer.
  • Champagne – a warm champagne shimmer.
  • Golden – a slightly yellow toned shimmer.
  • Sunbeam – a light golden bronze.
  • Rose Gold – a warm rose gold.
  • Sunkissed – a deep warm bronze.

The three lighter shades work best for me just because I’m super pale. I also love the darker shades used as eyeshadows.

And lastly I have the Contour Palette in Dark (£15.00). Again this contains six decent sized pans, this time they are all matte shades –

  • Tan – a light caramel brown.
  • Chestnut – a mid reddish brown.
  • Cocoa – a deep warm brown.
  • Sugar – a light peach.
  • Soft Honey – a light warm brown, slightly lighter than Tan.
  • Sunset – a bright terracotta orange.

These shades are all quite warm toned, and far too dark for my fair skin tone personally – but again I’ve used these a few times as eyeshadows and they work really well!

Nip & Fab’s range of makeup is available now at Nip+Fab.com

Beauty: NEW Kat Von D Brightening Powders, Alchemy Palette & Nude Everlasting Lipsticks

Posted on May 18, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have a few brand new products from Kat Von D to share with you today – there’s the stunning new Alchemy Holographic Palette, a trio of new Brightening Powders, Kat’s latest Setting Spray, and some brand new shades of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick that have just landed…

Starting with the new Lock-It Brightening Powders (£19.00 each at Debenhams) – these super fine powders are specifically designed with brightening particles to illuminate and smooth the under eye area, whilst setting makeup and without caking up your foundation and concealer. Personally I’m starting to get a few fine lines and creases under my eyes, and really struggle with hiding them. I found the Lock-It Brightening Powders to be extremely lightweight, and shade Petal worked really well for me to set my under eye area (as well as the rest of my face) – you could still see ever so slight lines, but this is easily one of the most effective powders I’ve used so far. The Lock-It Brightening Powder comes in three lightly tinted shades to suit different skin tones –

  • Petal – for light skin tones
  • Peach – for medium skin tones
  • Golden – a universal shade also for brightening deep complexions

Next the Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist (£20.00 at Debenhams) – this lightly scented super fine mist is perfect for ‘locking in’ makeup for long periods of time. I love that the bottle sprays such a fine mist, that smells and feels instantly refreshing. It also doesn’t feel heavy or or too wet like some setting sprays do, and it doesn’t leave any residue on the skin either. Kat promises 24 hours of flawless makeup with the Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist – and I can’t vouch for the full 24 hours, but it did make a full face of makeup last a whole day and evening for me, so I’m very happy with it.

And also the Alchemist Face & Eye Highlighter Palette (£25.00 at Debenhams) has just launched in the UK – at last! You can probably guess this palette was inspired by the ancient science of alchemy (this is the medieval art of turning base materials into precious metals such as gold) and I think this palette follows the theme rather nicely.

The palette contains four multi-use shades which have been formulated with Double Dimension technology, meaning each prismatic powder has been submerged in a refractive coating to catch the light from every angle – giving a spectrum of luminizing special effects. Very fancy! 😀

The shadows work well on their own, but particularly come to life when used as ‘toppers’, transforming other eyeshadows (or liquid lipsticks) with beautiful iridescent finishes.

The pans themselves aren’t particularly exciting to look at (you’ll see in my image above they look quite pale and plain) but the shadows really come to life on application. The four shades are all simply stunning and catch the light beautifully –

  • Emerald – light green
  • Amethyst – ultra violet
  • Saphyre – light blue
  • Opal – pink

And lastly, the Everlasting Lipstick Nudes (£17.00 at Debenhams) – the Everlasting Lipsticks have been around for quite a while now, and Kat has recently added six new nude shades to the range. If you’re a fan of liquid lipsticks, the Everlasting Lipsticks are a must have for your collection – they’re one of my favourite formulas feeling creamy and comfortable on application, and once dry they will literally last all day without wearing off. They also contain natural moisturizers, such as Vitamin E and Sunflower Seed Wax. These are the new shades (the asterisked shades are swatched above) –

  • Crucifix* – a deep chocolate brown.
  • Hawkwind* – a warm terracotta toned brown.
  • Sanctuary – a light nude brown.
  • Ludwig – a nude light brown, slightly lighter than Bow N Arrow.
  • Ophelia – a peachy light nude, slightly lighter than Ludwig.
  • Muneca* – a light bright peach.

I’m really impressed with everything I’ve been trying out, but I have to say I’ve been absolutely loving the Alchemist Palette, it’s so versatile and the colours are just stunning.

Kat Von D Makeup is available now exclusively at Debenhams.

Beauty: My Picks from Lime Crime at ASOS

Posted on May 3, 2017

Hi Guys!

ASOS might not be the first place you think of when online shopping for beauty products – but it really should be. They stock so many amazing brands now, many of which are pretty hard to find in the UK, such as Beauty Bakerie, Winky Lux, NYX, and Paul & Joe to name a few of my favourites.

Today though, I wanted to share with you my picks from ASOS’s selection of Lime Crime products…

Lime Crime have recently launched an awesome range of fake nails. I’m not usually a fan of fake nails, simply because I’d never come across any styles that particularly excited me. The Chromatic Pop On Nails (£12.00 at ASOS) however, come in a variety of iridescent high shine finishes that just look so shiny and magical! I have a set in shade Oyster, which is an iridescent white which shines blue and pink in the light, very much like an oyster shell – they’re so pretty! The nails are also available in shades Camel which has more of a gold tone, and Lizard which has more of a greenish oil-slick coloured finish.

The Chromatic Pop On Nails sets contains 6 different sizes of nails, so you can select which suits each of your nails the best, with two of each size. There’s also a tube of nail glue included to stick them on with. I’m loving this set so much – if you’re a fan of iridescent or holographic beauty products, these are a must have!

Another of Lime Crime’s newer launches is their Metallic Velvetines Liquid Lipsticks (£15.00 at ASOS). There are six shades to choose from, and I have (starting from the top)

  • Posh – a metallic warm toned purple
  • Mercury – a metallic nude silver with a touch of lavender
  • Happi – a metallic light peach pink
  • Lana – a metallic orange bronze

The Metallic Velvetines are a matte liquid lipstick, with a gorgeous metallic high shimmer finish. They’re extremely well pigmented, just like the original Velvetines, and work really well on their own, or on top of other liquid lipsticks. They dry down to a true matte finish, and won’t budge or move around at all throughout the day.

And of course, ASOS also stock Lime Crime’s original Velvetine Liquid Lipsticks too (£15.00 at ASOS). There are 18 shades of original formula Velvetines available, including classics such as Pink Velvet and Cashmere, as well as newer shades too. I have a couple of gorgeous colours (the bottom two swatches above) –

  • Riot – a terracotta nude
  • Buffy – a warm toned caramel nude

I think Riot is my favourite, it’s a warm terracotta shade that’s surprisingly easy to wear. As expected, they dry down quickly to a super matte finish which lasts for hours and hours before you need to re-apply. As with any liquid matte lipstick, you’ll need to make sure your lips are in good condition before application, as it can be quite drying. They only require one coat though, and dry perfectly opaque – these are definitely some of the best matte finish liquid lipsticks you can buy.

I’m so excited by these latest products from Lime Crime, I can’t wait to try out some new makeup looks with them!

Beauty: New Giorgio Armani Lip Magnets

Posted on October 10, 2016

georgio-armani-lip-magnets-review

Hi Guys!

The brand new Georgio Armani Lip Magnets have recently landed at TSNC HQ, and I’ve wasted no time getting stuck in and trying them all out!

Firstly the name Lip Magnet is rather interesting. I wasn’t too sure what to make of this at first, but the idea is that these are matte liquid lipsticks that specifically bind with the lips for a long lasting, no-migration effect. Which sounds pretty good to me!

lip-magnet-reviews-new

The Lip Magnets have been inspired by two of Giorgio Armani Beauty’s most iconic products: the ultra-thin film of their Maestro Fusion Makeup and the incredible colour intensity of their Lip Maestro Velvet Lip Colours. The combination of these features gives the Lip Magnets a super lightweight texture, with the benefit of intense pigmentation.

With this product, Giorgio Armani promises a chic matte finish, with flawless, long-lasting wear – and I have to say I am pretty impressed with the results!

lip-magnets-wand

Before I go any further, let me just mention the packaging, which is quite small yet striking – I love the bright red lids! And the applicator has a small indent in the centre, where the product collects when you push the wand into the tube. I like that this holds more product without building up on the applicator, making it hard to use and apply. I also think it’s nice that the applicator is shaped to a point, to help with precision application around the edge of the lips.

lip-magnets-swatches

There are 18 shades to choose from of which I have eight –

  • 502 Mania – an almost neon blue toned barbie pink.
  • 300 Tangerine – a bright tangerine orange.
  • 301 Heat – a hot mid toned orange.
  • 403 Vibrato – a mid pink toned berry.
  • 504 Nuda – a light nude pink.
  • 505 Second Skin – a nude pink.
  • 600 Front Row – a deep mauve.
  • 601 Attitude – a deep plum.

georgio-armani-lip-magnets-swatches-review

After trying all the shades I think Giorgio Armani have done a great job of creating a product to bridge the gap of where a traditional matte lip product becomes comfortable to wear. If you wear matte liquid lipsticks you’ll know they can be incredibly drying, and if you have even the hint of a dry lip before applying them, you’re asking for trouble. The Lip Magnets give a lovely velvety matte finish, that though isn’t quite as opaque as other matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried (though that can be layered up) you do have the element of comfort here – and therefore improved wearability. Of course it really depends what you’re looking for in a lip product – but if you’re looking for a decently pigmented matte liquid lipstick that won’t turn your lips into a shrivelled prune (you know what I mean!) then you should definitely check these out.

The Georgio Armani Lip Magnets are £27.00 and available now at Armani Beauty.

Beauty: The Beauty Bay Colour Cosmetics Box #BBDaretoShare

Posted on October 9, 2016

beauty-bay-products

Hi Guys!

As a complete beauty fanatic – with a special place in my heart for makeup in particular, there’s nothing like discovering and trying out new beauty brands – whether they’re actually new on the market, or just new to me.

So I was very excited indeed, when Beauty Bay sent over an amazing box including some of their top selling products for me to try out and share with you – I couldn’t wait to get stuck in!

spectrum-a01-large-domed-powder-brush-review

Starting with the Spectrum A01 Large Domed Powder Brush (£9.00) – Spectrum really do make the prettiest, most colourful brushes – and they’ve been on my wish list for a while so I was really pleased to find one in my box. The Large Domed Powder Brush is a generously sized brush, perfect for buffing powder-based products into the skin. It has a fun baby pink handle and purple and blue bristles – this is definitely a brush that stands out from the crowd! I’ve been using it with the Artdeco Fixing Powder (coming up next) and it does a fab job of applying the powder and buffing it in to the skin.

beautybay-haul-review

The Artdeco Fixing Powder Box (£11.75) – is basically a translucent setting powder. It was originally designed to set and waterproof the Artdeco Camouflage Cream but it’s also great as an all round setting powder for any skin type. The powder is super finely milled, and though it looks white, it applies translucent whilst giving makeup a waterproof finish to ‘lock in’ your look.

artdeco-fixing-powder-box-review

I was also pleased to find a couple of pen style eyeliners in the box – the Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner (£15.00) was the first I tried – it has a firm, long pointed nib, that’s great for creating sharp, thick lines, and it gives highly pigmented colour that boasts longevity and refuses to smudge. And the LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Waterproof Slim Eyeliner Pen (£11.25) is basically the opposite of the EOH liner – this one has a small, fine, flexible tip, that’s perfect for creating slim, feline flicks with precision. It’s also waterproof, budge proof and lasts all day.

nailberry-nail-polish-review

There were also a couple of Nailberry L’Oxygene Oxygenated Nail Lacquers (£14.50) in the box – these polishes are ‘free from five’, vegan friendly and cruelty free, and come in generous sized 15ml bottles. Shade Elegance (shown above) is a sheer baby pink shade, perfect for a tint of colour and to give the nails shine. And I also have shade Simplicity which I love! This is a light nude beige – perfect for fairer skin tones like mine, and only takes a couple of coats for full opacity.

ga-de-basica-matte-eyeshadow-palette

Next I have the Ga-De Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette (£19.00) – now this is a brand that I haven’t tried or let alone even heard of before! The GA-DE Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition product containing a collection of sophisticated matte eye shadows – and I have to say I absolutely love it!

This palette contains a selection of eight neutral matte shades, which are all easy to wear and perfect for daily use. The compact is basic but sturdy and has a mirror in the lid, and the shadows are just so amazingly soft and fantastically well pigmented – this is going straight in my makeup bag and will definitely give my Urban Decay Naked Basics a run for its money!

ga-de-true-color-satin-lipstick-review

I also have the Ga-De True Color Satin Lipstick (£11.00) – another lovely product from Ga-De, this True Color Satin Lipstick in shade 232 Plum Noir is a lovely deep plum colour that’s perfect for autumn. The formula feels creamy and moisturising, and leaves a highly pigmented satin finish that is long wearing and feels lightweight and non-drying on the lips.

beauty-bay-products-review

Next I have the Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara (£16.50) – which is said to be perfect for fine, brittle lashes (this is basically my eyelashes) – so I had high hopes for this product!

The Goddess Mascara has been formulated with Natural Waxes and Oils, Antioxidants, Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamins to protect and nourish lashes whilst lengthening and volumising. It has a silicon brush with short, dense bristles that work really well on my short lashes. The finish isn’t  an out there ‘false lashes’ look as such, but it nice, non-clumpy and natural enough for every day wear.

stila-stay-all-day-matteificent-lipstick-review

I was also really excited to try the Stila Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick (£15.00) – again, Stila is another brand that I haven’t used for a very long time – I think their Eyes are the Windows palette was the last item I used actually. The Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick is a lightweight, long wearing matte finish lipstick, utilising a Flexible Film Long-Wear Complex which delivers a soft, gel like film that hydrates and protects the lips whilst ensuring maximum adhesion of colour.

Shade Coquille is beautiful muted, dusky pink, which I completely love. The formula feels comfortable and creamy to wear, and even though the finish is matte, it’s not drying on the lips, and lasts for hours on end.

la-splash-lipstick-review

And lastly the LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Lipstick (£9.95) – I LOVE LA Splash Matte Lipsticks, and this one in shade Ghoulish is the perfect partner for my Stila lipstick – the shades are almost identical!

If you’re looking for a matte liquid lipstick that literally lasts all day, then look no further. LA Splash’s Lip Couture lipsticks offer amazing pigmentation, with a super lightweight formula that feels velvety matte and smooth once it’s dried – and it won’t budge at all throughout the day.

beautybay-products-post

So there we have it! You can probably guess that my favourite item from the box was the Ga-De Matte Palette! Though it’s not much to look at – and I mean that in the nicest way possible – there are no frills, no shiny sparkly designs or packaging with this palette – but it doesn’t matter, this is a fantastic every day matte palette that’s very likely to become my go-to from now on.

And as far as Beauty Bay goes as a whole, I love that offer such a fantastic range of brands – many of which you can’t find anywhere else in the UK. I don’t expect I’d have ever come across the likes of Ga-De especially if it wasn’t for this box. They also stock brands such as Makeup Geek, Coloured Raine, Jeffree Star, Violet Voss and Dose of Colours to name but a few.
