Rimmel & Tesco Gold Envelope WIN!

Posted on September 19, 2014

Hi Guys!

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be one of ten winners in Beauty at Tesco’s #RimmelGold giveaway! I just replied to their tweet with the hashtag and luckily won, woo hoo! My prize was a golden envelope filled with some awesome Rimmel makeup goodies!

Inside the envelope was –

  • ‘How to get the Wonderfull look’ leaflet,
  • Match Perfection Foundation in Soft Beige
  • Brow This Way Brow Gel in Brown
  • Scandaleyes Gel Eyeliner in Black
  • Wonderfull Mascara in Black
  • Colour Rush Balm in Not an illusion

The Colour Rush Balm in Not An Illusion is a lovely mid-tone pink. I can’t tell you enough how much I love the formula of these balms, they feel really, well, balmy! They’re not sticky, don’t dry the lips, and give a good amount of colour which lasts a good couple of hours before you need to reapply. Not An Illusion is the perfect every day shade for me too.

The Brow This Way product though, hmm. I must say I wasn’t very impressed. I found this product really hard to apply. It seemed to come out really patchy and not stick to my brows very well, and when I applied more pressure to make it stick, the thickness of the wand means it just made a mess everywhere and felt really heavy to wear. I’ve added a look photo at the end of this post so you can see the state of my eyebrows after using this! If you’ve used this and have any application tips, please let me know!

The Match Perfection Foundation was another good product though. Again this is a great every day product if you’re looking for a foundation you can just throw on every day that won’t break the bank. Soft Beige was probably a smidge too dark for me, but still wearable, and I have been wearing it quite sheer. Which reminds me to mention this foundation is really easily to build up the colour and coverage if you’re looking for a more full coverage look. This is definitely a winner in my book!

I just realised I forgot to swatch the eyeliner, oops! The Scandaleyes Gel Eyeliner reminds me very much of my Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, even down to the style of packaging. This product gives a fantastic intense deep black line that’s super easy to apply with the included brush.

And lastly the Wonderfull Mascara. I’m afraid this wasn’t wonderful at all and was really bit of a let down for me. I have really short and fine lashes so I need both volume and length, and unfortunately this appeared to give me neither. It just didn’t work for me.

So here I am wearing the products – you can see my eyebrows are a bit of a state! Maybe I was just applying it wrong? I don’t know! Please tell me if you have any tips for using this product!??

So overall I have three wins and two fails in this little bundle, and I really can’t recommend the Colour Rush Balm enough, I may have to treat myself to some more shades now 🙂

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Anastasia Beverley Hills Amrezy Palette | Review & Look

Posted on September 11, 2014

Hi Guys!

Ok so I may have placed a little Anastasia Beverley Hills order the other week… I’ve had my eye on the Amrezy palette since it was released, and now they’ve just released the new Maya Mia palette I couldn’t resist! So I ordered the Amrezy, Maya Mia, & Catwalk palettes, and a Pro Pencil concealer. Ya know, when in Rome and all that. I’ll have reviews of everything in the coming weeks 🙂

So, I understand Amrezy is Anastasias daughters’ best friend, she is a fabulous makeup artist and put this palette together with the idea that it’s super versatile, offering easy-to-wear ‘essential’ shades for the lid, crease and highlight, and two colour ‘pop’ shades in Iridescent Purple and Emerald to accentuate and emphasise and experiment with. I love this idea, it’s my perfect palette! I also now follow Amrezy on Instagram, this girl is *so* pretty, and she definitely knows her stuff when it comes to makeup! Check her out and give her a follow!

Anyway I digress, basically I fell in love with the Amrezy palette but I couldn’t find it on sale anywhere in the UK. The new Maya Mia is available at Cult Beauty but the Amrezy was nowhere to be found, aaargh! So after much consideration I purchased direct from the Anastasia US site for $29 (£17.91) All the palettes I bought cost the same each, plus the standard UK shipping rate of $17.95 (£11.09) plus the Pro Pencil $18 (£11.12) The total order came to $112.45 (£69.47) (this included a 10% off first order discount) If I’d have purchased the same order UK, the palettes are £24 each and the pencil is £13, so it would have cost me £85 here and that’s without shipping, so I actually got a pretty good deal!

The palette comes in a cardboard outer box, and the packaging itself is thick card too. It has a mirror in the lid, which appeared ever so slightly warped, but still perfectly useable. The pans are about 2cm square, so on the smallish side, but not too small to use comfortably.

I simply love the shade selection in this palette! The top row are all shimmers, and the bottom are mattes. Personally I love Topaz or glisten as a base, Legend or Vanilla to highlight, and Deep Plum or LBD in the crease. I’ve done one look below with this palette where I’ve used emerald under the bottom lashes too, but I really can’t wait to experiment with these shades to see what else I can come up with!

The shimmers are SO buttery soft I can’t even tell you, and just look at the pigmentation in the mattes – matte shades are notoriously powdery and under-pigmented, but these really are some of the best I’ve seen!

And here’s a look I put together with these shades, as you can tell I’ve artificially deepened the colour of the eyeliner as it appeared almost flaky in my photos and really did nothing for the look. I also used Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in Blue Remix in the water line.

So you can probably tell I’m in love with this palette! I’d love to hear what you think?

I hope you enjoyed my review xxx

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Eye Makeup Look

Posted on August 28, 2014

Hi Guys!

Following on from my Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Luxury Palette review earlier, I thought I’d make a separate post to show you the eye makeup look I created with this palette 🙂

The Dolce Vita Palette really has the most stunning colours which are just perfect for blue eyes! All the shades are also very wearable for day or night time – you can play it down or build up the depth of colour, and the golden glittery ‘pop’ shade is a fab addition for an evening look!

I started off by using the champagne shade as a light all over base, then I worked the copper shade into the crease and under the bottom lashes. I then defined the crease with the dark brown shade and highlighted the inner corner of my eyes with the champagne shade. Lastly I dabbed the golden glitter ‘pop’ shade over the centre of the lid. Unfortunately I couldn’t quite capture the amazing sparkle this gave but it really was SO sparkly!

This is officially my new favourite eyeshdow palette! I’d love to hear what you think? Do you own any Charlotte Tilbury makeup? xxx

How To Wear PINK Eyeliner! | Tutorial

Posted on August 1, 2014

Hi Guys!

I thought I’d write a bit of a tutorial today, you know Bourjois have released some awesome new eyeliners? Well I was missing one from my collection, the neon pink one – ‘Pink About You’ and one of my lovely blogger friends (Hayley from teapartybeauty) offered to send me hers as she said wouldn’t use it. Thanks lovely! Now pink eyeliner is definitely not for the faint hearted, and this colour is a proper shocking pink! I think wearing pink on the eyes can be tricky, so I thought I’d put together a little tutorial on how I wear this amaze colour!

I have to say, I think I’ve also found the secret to wearing pink eyeliner… It needs to be a true pink, preferably heading towards fuscia, and I think a cooler tone helps too. If you go for a more reddish or orangey pink I’d definitely recommend you not to wear it in the waterline, this colour would be closer to the red shade on the inside of your eyelids so just beware as you may end up looking like you have some sort of eye disease! 🙂

Ok so first of all, a disclaimer type thing! These images have been edited – but only slightly. I’ve just sharpened up the line between the pink and black eyeliner colours, and evened out the colour of the pink eyeliner (damn my wrinkly lids!) just to make them look better for you. But the colours are still definitely the same, they really are this bright!

So on to the tutorial!

1. I used W.O.S from the Naked Palette (a nude cream coloured matte) and covered the whole eye area with this, it’s the perfect colour for a base.

2. I then used Faint (taupe) from the same palette in the crease fairly lightly to add a bit of depth. And Venus (cream coloured shimmer) on the inner corners of the eyes to highlight.

3. Then I grabbed my Pink About You eyeliner and lined the whole upper lashes with a thick line and flick.

4. I went over this with a Barry M pen style eyeliner right near the lash line, making sure to leave some visible pink (if there’s not enough visible you can always thicken the pink line carefully after)

5. I also used Crave (almost black) from The Naked Basics palette under the bottom lashes, and I used Bourjois Dynamint eyeliner in the waterline.

6. Finish with Bourjois 1 Seconde Mascara. Done!

7. FYI I also used Faint on my brows as I couldn’t find my brow kit, it was the prefect colour! And Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser on my under eyes to brighten.

  • Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in 58 Pink About You
  • Bourjois Contour CLubbing Eyeliner in 59 Dynamint

  • Barry M Blink Black Waterproof Precision Eyeliner
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in 60 Brightening Illuminator

So what do you think? Will you be trying out pink eyeliner?? xxx

A Colourful Look with the Sleek Del Mar Eyeshadow Palette!

Posted on June 17, 2014

Hi Guys!

So you may have seen my post yesterday reviewing some gorgeous Sleek Makeup products, with one of them being the i-Divine Del Mar Volume 1 Eyeshadow Palette – well here is the very colourful look I’ve put together using it! These colours are pretty intense so I’d definitely wear this look with bronzed skin and a nude lip. A neutral colour or black outfit would also make your eyes really stand out!

This is really a pretty straightforward look with On The Rocks (a bright, semi matte orange) in the inner corner of the eye, Balearic Beat (matte lime green) in the centre of the eyelid and Blue Marlin in the crease and brought slightly under the bottom eyelashes. The colours were blended together across the eyelid and I finished the look using Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner Pen and Benefit They’re Real Mascara.

So what do you think? Do you like this look or is it a bit too much colour for you? I’d love to hear yur thoughts!? xxx

A Classic Red Lip Look

Posted on June 13, 2014

classic look

Hi Guys!

I thought it’s about time I did some more looks posts! I haven’t done any at all this year so now I’ve got my awesome new ring light especially for blogging I really want to get back into it!

I wore my favourite wig to the Jarrold Blogger Event last week, so I made a point of taking a few photos before I went out so you can see how I wore it! It’s such a gorgeous wig, made of the highest quality fake hair, you can literally just throw it on and go! I teamed it with neural eye makeup and a bright red lip for a classic look.

(This is my first picture with my new ring light, I’m so happy with it!!)

I’m loving the Maybelline Color Tattoo eye colour in On and On Bronze, it’s a gorgeous warm bronze shadow with a fab shimmer finish that’s easily buildable. I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette with this. I went with W.O.S which is a matte light nude pink, under the Maybelline as a base, Faint – a warm brown matte in the crease to add depth, and Venus – a soft white demi matte in the corner of my eye to highlight.

I also used the Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise black pen eyeliner – it looks slightly wonky here but it looked pretty straight when I applied it, honestI! (I’ll blame my wrinkly eyelids!) This is by far the best pen style eyeliner I have used in a long time, it’s so easy to use and creates a bold black line that lasts all day.

So what do you think? I’m really loving bright lips at the moment so I’m a happy bunny!! This red lip is created with the Rimmel Colour Rush Lip Balm in The Redder The Better, this is such a striking bright red, and the finish is so moisturising, it’s like wearing a lip balm, I love it!

The products I used were –

  • Tantalise Wig in Almond Mist by Natural Image from Hothair. They don’t stock this any more but do currently sell a wig called Fantasy which is similar.
  • Dior HydraLife BB Cream in 01
  • Benefit Boiing Concealer in 02
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Brightener 160
  • Sorme Blush & Bornze Duo
  • MUA Ultimate Eyebrow Kit
  • Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in On and On Bronze
  • Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner Pen in Black
  • Benefit They’re Real Mascara
  • Rimmell Colour Rush Lip Balm in The Redder The Better

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx
