10 Products You Need in your Bathroom! Soap & Glory / Estee Lauder / Melvita & More!

Posted on June 27, 2016

Hi Guys!

Summer is now upon us… well kind of. And I’ve decided it’s about time I have a clear out in my bathroom – out with the old and in with the fresh and new! I’m terrible for keeping hold of old products with just a bit left at the bottom, promising myself I will use them up properly before I bin them. It never happens though and I just end up with a bathroom full of mostly empty bottles. Tell me I’m not the only person that does this!

Anyway, I’ve been having a clear out and I thought I’d talk you through some of my latest bathroom additions…

I was so excited when these fabulous new Shower Jellies from Soap & Glory arrived unexpectedly (£5.50 each at Boots) – I’d never even heard of let alone tried a shower jelly before, so I couldn’t wait to see what these were like. The jellies have a juicy gel like texture that quickly melts on wet skin, giving a lovely sudsy lather. They come in two mouth-wateringly juicy scented options too – Sweet Lime, and Pink Rose & Bergamot, both which also feature Soap & Glory’s Coolcapsuel-Smooth™ cooling technology.

Next, a few body care products –

The Melvita L’Or Rose Refining Scrub (£15.00 from Melvita) combines Pink Berries and Rose Muscat Oil to exfoliate the skin, and it has a gel texture that transforms into a lovely rich cream on contact, leaving a delicate scent on the skin after use. I’ve just started using this and it has a surprisingly fresh and zingy scent, and I love that it leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth.

And the L’Or Rose Firming Oil (£28.00 also from Melvita) has the same zingy scent as the Refining Scrub. This oil combines Berries with Sea Buckthorn and promises to help visibly reduce the orange peel effect.

Though I’m sceptical that this will actually firm and make any physical difference to my skin, I’ve used it a couple of times already and it does make my skin feel lovely. It’s also worth mentioning that this product has been awarded ‘Best Slimming Product’ by Madame Figaro Magazine’s Beauté Stars Competition – time will tell if it works for me though.

Another body wash I’ve just started using is the Burts Bees Extra Energising Body Wash (£9.99 from Naturisimo) – I’m a big fan of energising scents when it comes to shower products, and this body wash contains Essential Citrus Oils and Ginger Root Extract to energise your skin as well as your senses, perfect for a morning wake me up shower.

And the Limited Edition Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Exfoliating Body Cleanser (£30.00 at Boots) is a must have for a spot of luxury in the bathroom. I was a complete Bronze Goddess virgin until trying this product, and now I know why everybody raves about both the fragrance and the range! This product not only smells divine, but it does a fantastic job of exfoliating and smoothing, leaving my skin looking fresh and healthy. I really don’t think this massive tube will last me very long!

And lastly, tanning. When it comes to fake tan, I’m more of a special occasion tanner – I just don’t have the time for regular tanning and waiting for it to dry – so I look for products that are quick, easy to use and effective.

I have the He-Shi Day to Day Gradual Tan (£11.99 from Ideal World) – this product is perfect for gradually building a light tan for those with fair to medium skin tones – so it sounds perfect for me. The formula contains Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and Pro Vitamin B5 for rehydrating skin whilst including a subtle element of self-tan. The triple action lotion promises to absorb easily and help even out your natural skin tone, and it can also be used to maintain an existing tan by using between self-tan applications.

And the Vita Liberata Body Blur (£29.95 at Boots) which technically falls under the category of makeup rather than skincare, but this is all-over body makeup, which I would definitely keep in my bathroom so I’m including it here!

Vita Liberata’s Body Blur Instant Skin Finish is an instant HD body makeup that perfects skin by masking blemishes and reflecting light. I’ve only used this once so far but I love that it gives a natural looking tint and washes off when you shower.

And the Vita Liberata Illuminating Skin Finish Gold (£29.95 at Birchbox) – following on from the Body Blur, the Skin Finish is basically like a body highlighter, giving skin a lovely subtle highlighted sheen, perfect for using after the Body Blur for a night on the town.

And lastly the Zhuzhu Tan Accellerator (£15.99 at Ideal World) rather than a fake tan as such, this product is formulated and designed to stimulate the melanin in your skin whenever you are exposed to the sun, to speed up the natural tanning process.  It is a lightweight spray on formula that’s easy to rub in, leaving your skin moisturised without any stickiness. So I’ll just need to wait for some sunshine to see if this actually works!

Not that I need any more products in my bathroom now, but I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations for bath and body products that I should try? 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Five To Try For Dry & Sensitive Skin

Posted on April 9, 2016

Hi Guys!

If you’re a regular reader you’ll probably know by now that I do tend to moan about my skin a bit, as it can be quite problematic, but at other times it’s completely fine. I also had eczema as a child around my eyebrows, which has left me with ongoing dry patches as an adult – and I was also allergic to pretty much everything you can imagine too. So this has left me with sometimes normal, sometimes dry, sometimes sensitive skin, and I will occasionally have a reaction to a product (usually face masks I find) but some are absolutely fine. So it’s really a bit hit and miss for me.

Anyway, I have a few products to share with you today from some of my favourite skincare brands, that have all been working really well so far for my dry and sensitive skin…

Starting with the Melvita Nectar Bright Brightening Duo (£25.00) – bi-phase formula products seem to be having a bit of a moment right now (See Lancome’s Juicy Shakers) and Melvita’s latest release has jumped straight on the bandwagon. The Nectar Bright Brightening Duo is basically a liquid exfoliator. You simply shake the bottle to mix the bi-phase floral water and oil, which work together with a patented AHA complex to gently refine and exfoliate the skin without the need for any harsh granules – which is just perfect for my sensitive skin. This product is gentle enough to use on a daily basis, and I love that it’s so quick and easy to use as there’s no need to rinse off, you just follow with your usual moisturiser and Bob’s your uncle! (This product will be available shortly from Melvita)

Next are two fantastic L’Occitane products – the new Soothing Fluid and Comforting Oil – the L’Occitane Shea Face Soothing Fluid is especially formulated for sensitive skin or skin that has been weakened due to environmental stressors – which can lead to tightness, redness and prickling or burning sensations. This product contains a natural complex of protective active ingredients, rosehip and calendula, combined with shea butter to help comfort and soothe skin whilst helping to strengthen skin’s natural defences.

And the L’Occitane Shea Face Comforting Oil – with it’s gorgeously silky texture and dry finish, is the perfect partner to the Shea Face Soothing Fluid. This oil is perfect for protecting and nourishing very dry or sensitive skin – its 100% natural formula is enriched with shea and marula oils to help the skin to regenerate by strengthening its barrier, leaving your complexion feeling wonderfully soft and supple.

I’ve also recently fallen in love with the Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask (£44.00) – like most beauty fans, I love a pampering face mask, but due to my awkward skin I can occasionally react to them, so I’m usually pretty wary. The new Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask is just spot on for me though – it has a deeply hydrating formula containing minerals and amino acids to give an instant hit of freshness to the skin, with a plumping effect. Disospyros kaki, also included in the formula, is known for its astringent and illuminating properties, helping to keep skin supple and toned with its pore tightening effect. My skin doesn’t react to this product at all, and after using it my complexion feels instantly rejuvenated and hydrated.

And lastly the L’Occitane Velvet Hands Hand Cream (£18.00) – I don’t really use hand cream that often, as my hands are probably the least problematic area of my skin, but I’ve been frantically cleaning and tidying the house from top to bottom over the last week as we’re putting it on the market, and my hands have definitely been affected by all the cleaning products, becoming dry and feeling tight. I’ve started using the gorgeously scented Velvet Hands Hand Cream though and it’s helping to soothe them already. This product is enriched with L’Occitane’s Almond Youth Complex, which is an exclusive blend of three active ingredients, it also contains UV filters, and stimulates collagen production, helping to protect the youthfulness of your hands.

So there we have it, five fantastic products that are all perfect for dry and sensitive skin! I’d love to hear if you have sensitive skin, and which skincare products you use and would recommend?

Valentine’s Gifts On A Budget

Posted on February 9, 2016

Hi Guys!

Valentine’s day is just around the corner now, so I thought I’d put together a couple of posts to offer some inspiration to those looking for gift ideas. I’m starting off with some fantastic lower priced items. Everything in this post is what I’d call reasonably priced or budget friendly – and I’ll have my luxury gifts post coming up very shortly too.

So, what would Valentine’s day be without chocolates? Thorntons have a massive range of goodies on offer, including hampers, truffles and special chocolate selection boxes. I’ve been munching on the Classic Collection Box of late (well I had to try them!) and I just managed to save a few of these gorgeous chocs for my photo! You guys are in for a treat too, because I’m also giving away a gorgeous Thorntons Valentine’s Heart shaped selection box worth £25.00 on Twitter, make sure you follow and RT here to be in with a chance of winning! (Open to UK only, the winner will be chosen at 9pm on 12/02/16)

For the beauty lovers, you can never fail with Kiko products – I think I’m actually yet to come across something of theirs that I don’t like. As well as being very affordable, they often have offers on too so you can pick up some amazing bargains. Check out their sale for up to 50% off loads of gorgeous makeup products and sets, including the Temptress Lip Set shown above which is now only £5.40!

Flowers are often a must have for the big day, but what about rose scented beauty products as an alternative? They’re guaranteed to last longer than the lifespan of a bunch of flowers! The Melvita Nectar de Roses Body Collection is a gorgeous range of bath and body products including wild rose extract to aid hydration.

I have the Nectar de Roses Rose Petal Shower Gel (£13.00), which gives a beautiful light floral fragrance, the Nectar de Roses Hydrating Body Veil (£15.00), which is enriched with rose floral water to provide intense hydration for up to 24 hours. The Nectar de Roses Balm (£10.00) is a fantastic little multi-purpose balm that’s perfect for rescuing dry and damaged skin, and lastly the Wild Roses EDT (£36.00) which is a beautifully bright and fresh rose scent, combining rosa canina, rose gallica and rose mosqueta with a woody base.

Or for a different take on rose fragrances, Bronnley’s Zealous Flower EDT (£35.00) is definitely worth a look. This is the newest addition to their Electric Elements range, and completely different from Melvita’s Wild Roses. Bronnley’s Zealous Flower fragrance gives rose a more unconventional edge. It includes sparkling notes of pear and mandarin combined with pink pepper, precious amber and earthy vetiver.

For the nail polish lovers, what about a selection of very affordable Nailed London Nail Polishes? They’re only £6.99 each and are available in a massive range of 28 catwalk inspired shades, as well as four glitter polishes, and a top and base coat. They also boast a patented 3-step system, developed to match the look, feel, wear and gloss of a professional gel polish, whilst promising 2-3 days longer wear than any other gelled product on the market.

A personalised gift is always going to be a winner, and I highly recommend the Crowd colour Personalised Palette. This is an empty makeup palette, magnetised and ready for you to customise it with whichever pans you choose. The best part is that you can have whatever you want printed on top, I went for my blog header on mine!

On the subject of palettes, the Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes are definitely worth a mention. At only £7.99 for a palette of 12 eyeshadows, these palettes are a complete bargain, as well as being amazingly well pigmented. I’ve collected quite a few of these now but I most often find myself reaching for the Au Naturel shades. The one I’ve included in the image above is the brand new All Night Long palette, including a beautiful range of warm neutrals.

And lastly, for the candle fans there’s the Shearer Candles Tropical Watermelon Jar Candle (£8.00) – this gorgeous candle from Shearer Candles checks all the boxes for a Valentine’s gift, it’s pink, it’s pretty and it smells amazing! The Watermelon fragrance is fantastically sweet and mouth-wateringly juicy. It’s basically summer in a candle!

I’d love to hear if any of these products take your fancy? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
