Christmas Gifting with Zoeva: Plaisir Box, Lip Lacquers & Strobe Gels

Posted on December 15, 2016

Hi Guys!

Out of all the beauty brands in the world, Zoeva is definitely up there with my favourites. Their products are always of a high quality, as well as being beautifully packaged. But when their new Plaisir Box arrived a few weeks ago, I actually couldn’t contain my excitement…

The Zoeva Plaisir box (pleasure box) is a beautifully presented gift box containing three of Zoeva’s stunning eyeshadow palettes. The theme of the set is chocolate, with each palette representing a type of chocolate – white, milk and dark. The set contains two brand new palettes – the Blanc Fusion Eyeshadow Palette and Caramel Melange Eyeshadow Palette as well as their best-selling Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette…

An ode to the fine art of confectionary and a revelation to all beauty gourmets and sensualists, the ZOEVA PLAISIR BOX merges the full pleasure and varieties of chocolate, transferred into cosmetics. From dark brown to fawn and white, indulge in a carefully selected assortment of three tempting eyeshadow delights: sumptuous pralinés, creamy caramel and exquisite white chocolate.

The Cocoa Blend Palette is possibly my favourite out of the three. It contains a selection of warm truffle tones with both matte and shimmer finishes, and the shades are both intense in pigmentation and silky smooth to apply. I absolutely love the shade range in this palette, with Warm Notes and Freshly Toasted being two of my favourite shades – this palette is just perfect for create a glamorous evening look.

The Caramel Melange Palette is slightly lighter and brighter in tone than the above Cocoa Blend Palette, but still warm and definitely vibrant. There are some gorgeous bronze and butterscotch shades in this palette, as well as Aftertaste, which I love, it’s a striking matte cinnamon orange, which would make for a beautiful transition shade.

And lastly the Blank Fusion Palette, as you can probably guess this one represents white chocolate, and has a distinct milky white, cream and yellow theme. This palette again contains a lovely mix of matte and shimmer shades, enabling you to create a plethora of eye looks.

When you put all the palettes together, you really have a stunning selection of eyeshadows that can be mixed and matched to your heart’s content 🙂

And if you didn’t know, Zoeva also have a fantastic range of lip products on offer, including their Pure Velour Lips (£9.75) which is a matte finish liquid lipstick offering a lightweight, full coverage formula. I have shades All is Calm – a dark rosy brown shown above top, and Clear Message – a pretty blushed nude, shown above middle.

Zoeva’s Pure Lacquer Lips, in contrast, is a moisturising liquid lipstick with a striking high-shine finish. I have shade Unrefined – a warm beige nude which is highly pigmented with a lovely glossy finish.

And lastly, one of Zoeva’s newest releases is their range of Strobe Gels (£11.00). These weightless highlighting gels are ideal for adding a touch of dewy luminescence to the complexion. The super lightweight gel formula is easy to use and blend, and comes in three wearable shades –

  • Halo – a pearl gel with silver shimmer for fair to light skin tones.
  • Corona – a peachy gel with rose gold shimmer for light to medium skin tones.
  • Aureole – a bronze gel with gold shimmer for medium to dark skin tones.

I really can’t get enough of these products right now, and if you’re stuck for gift ideas this Christmas, I highly recommend you check out Zoeva’s fantastic makeup and brush range.

The Plaisir Box is currently sold out in the UK, but available direct from Zoeva for £48.00, and the Strobe Gels and Lip products are all currently available at Beauty Bay.

Beauty: Illamasqua Extinct Collection

illamasqua-extinct-collection

Hi Guys!

I have Illamasqua’s brand new Extinct collection to share with you today – and it’s probably one of my favourites yet. The Extinct collection has been inspired by the natural beauty of insects, the reality of climate change and the fearlessness of punk. It includes iridescent beetle tones, dark glittering purples and fantastic reflective finishes which can be use to create makeup looks that really go outside the box.

The Extinct visual focuses on brave, unique shapes that emphasise the eyes, lips and nails to inspire creativity and push boundaries. This powerful collection provides you with the tools and expertise to create your own kind of beauty that challenges the expected.

Starting with the Demise Palette (£34.00) – I love the name of this palette, it’s so dark and dramatic! This eyeshadow quad contains four intense autumnal shades, perfect for creating a striking smoky eye. Illamasqua have brought back previous shade Gimp, a deep black-blue to include in this palette, but I have to say I’m in love with Interitus, a rich burgundy that’s perfect for this season.

  • Wilt – Red Gold
  • Gimp – Black Blue
  • Lost – White Gold
  • Interitus – Burgundy

There’s also a Pure Pigment (£17.50) – this is a finally milled pigment that can be worn alone to softly reflect a translucent blue or layered over a deeper product to give it a 3-D punch. This shade is called Axolotl and though it’s describe as holographic, I wouldn’t say it is. It’s very similar to MAC’s Reflects Teal pigment.

The collection also includes two Powder Eyeshadows (£16.50) – Jubilance first caught my eye, this is a wonderful light copper shade, almost like a shiny penny. It has the most amazing high shine finish, and it’s incredibly soft and easy to apply.

The other shade, Cascade, I thought was just an average white when I first saw it. How wrong I was though! Cascade though innocent looking actually has a luminous blue frost finish that looks pretty awesome when you catch it in the light!

Here’s some swatches starting with Jubilance at the top, then Cascade, then Axolotl.

And lastly, I have two Nail Varnishes (£14.50 each) – the Extinct collection offers two exciting shades with high shine finish. Shade Remains is a deep merlot injected with glitter particles and Quagga is a two-toned green that mimics iridescent beetle wings. Illamasqua recommend to wear these over a black polish to intensify the colour, which I’m going to try myself very soon.

The collection also includes a Matte Lip Liquid (£18.50) in shade Exoskeleton – a dusky Plum, and a Gel Liner (£20.00) in shade Quixotic, a deep emerald green.

Cohorted August 2016 Beauty Box Review

Cohorted-August-2016-Beauty-Box-Review

Hi Guys!

Cohorted’s August beauty box has just arrived, so let’s take a look inside…

  • NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette, worth £45.00
  • Smith & Cult Nail Polish in xx, worth £19.00
  • Nunzio Saviano Anti-Frizz Sheets, worth £14.00
  • Cohorted Ovali Brush, worth £18.99
  • Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream, 2x 3ml tubes, worth £24.00

Total value of box = £120.99.

Ok so overall this looks like a great box – let’s start with the NARS Andy Warhol Flowers III Palette. Now I’m going to be completely honest and admit I feel a bit on the fence about this one. On the face of it this is an excellent product, it’s a limited edition Andy Warhol palette, and though unboxed, it’s a really nice eyeshadow palette of high value. My only niggle is that this product was launched in 2012 – making it four years old. Now some people might not have a problem with this (and personally I don’t in this case, but of course this depends on the product as well as personal preference) but I think this is definitely a point worth mentioning. You can see what the inside of the palette looks like here.

Next the Smith & Cult Nail Polish – now this really is a gorgeous product! I have a few Smith & Cult polishes (check them out here) and they really are fab polishes, as well as being presented in stunning packaging. This shade is Regret The Moon, it’s a lovely warm white, with the slightest tint of pink to it. In contrast to the above NARS product, this is actually a brand new shade which is great news! 🙂

Next we have Nunzio Saviano – a brand that I haven’t heard of, but their Anti-Frizz Sheets do sound rather appealing, especially with the hot weather we’ve been having lately. The box contains 15 individually wrapped sheets which promise to instantly smooth hair and eliminate frizz, while controlling static ad taming flyways. I think I’ll be taking a few of these to New York with me next week!

Next the Cohorted Ovali Brush. I’ve already done a comparison post on an original Artis brand oval style brush, compared to an Ebay dupe – and in my opinion you definitely don’t need to spend a fortune on ‘oval’ brushes. Cohorted’s own branded oval brushes come with a really nice rose gold and matte black finish, with the Cohorted logo printed on the handle. These are available to order now from Cohorted as either single brushes or sets.

And lastly, the Lancome Precious Cells Eye Cream – I couldn’t actually believe it when I worked out that the two tiny 3ml samples included in the box are actually worth £12.00 each! If you look the product up online you’ll see a 20ml tub is £80.00, so this is a great opportunity to try a product that many of us wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to due to the high price. This product promises to firm, nourish and reduce wrinkles. I’ll be interested to see if it makes any difference to my rather large eye bags!

Overall I think this is a great box, and definitely well worth the £35.00 price tag. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Nude By Nature Highlight and Contour Collection

Nude-By-Nature-Highlight-and-Contour-Collection

Hi Guys!

Today I’d like to introduce the NEW Nude by Nature Contour & Highlight Collection; a set of must-have products to embrace and define your natural features…

Nude By Nature is Australia’s number one mineral make-up brand, promising ‘make-up that’s good for you’. Their latest products are formulated with powerful ingredients, such as native Australian Kakadu Plum, containing the world’s highest dose of Vitamin C, and Quandong and Cehami Extract, renowned for their renewing and hydrating effects.

Let’s start by looking at the Perfecting Primer (£22.00) and Sheer Light Illuminator (£18.00). The Perfecting Primer is a really nice lightweight matte finish primer, which gives a great base for makeup, helping it to stay put all day. The Sheer Light Illuminator is a lovely light golden toned illuminator, which works well on it’s own, or mixed in with foundation to brighten the complexion and give a subtle glow.

Next the Contour Palette (£25.00) – this palette contains three matte shades especially selected to contour and sculpt the face. The deepest shade is perfect for contouring and defining features, such as the cheekbones, jaw and nose, the middle shade is a fab matte bronzer with you can literally use anywhere you want to look bronzed and glowy, and the lightest shade is a matte highlight. The shades of all three products are really nice and will suit most fair to mid toned complexions.

And the beautiful Highlight Palette (£25.00) – similar to the contour palette, this contains three shades of powder highlighter in generous sized pans. There’s a bronze shade to add warmth and definition to the complexion, a rose shade to add radiance, and a champagne to illuminate and highlight.

Personally as I’m pretty fair, I don’t think I’d get much use out of the bronze shade as a highlighter – but as an eyeshadow? YES! It’s a gorgeous warm orangey bronze and just looks fabulous with blue eyes!

And lastly, as you can never have enough highlighters, for fans of a cream formula, Nude By Nature also have a trio of Touch of Glow Highlight Sticks (£18.00 each) – these highlighter sticks are super easy to use, you just twist up, apply, blend with fingers and Bob’s your uncle. They have a glide-on cream-to-powder formula which gives a beautiful light reflecting sheen which can easily be worn sheer for a hint of glow, or built up for more intense colour.

If you’re a fan of contouring and highlighting, I’d definitely recommend you check out this collection!

Kiko Limited Edition Beauty Games Collection

Posted on July 26, 2016

kiko-beauty-games-collection

Hi Guys!

The latest limited edition collection of products from Kiko Milano is now available, and this season’s theme is the Olympic Games!

KIKO MILANO’s new The Beauty Games collection is inspired by the 2016 Olympic Games. A team of unbeatable products are hitting the playing fields. The global, borderless Olympic spirit is expressed through a cosmopolitan, modern femininity, which is both sporty and elegant.

The range contains complexion-evening face bases, as well as bronzers and blushers to give skin a healthy glow. The coloured mascara lengthens and curls the lashes boosting their volume, while lips are highlighted by a bright, matte finish, and nails are decorated with original, fun nail art designs. Also, the limited-edition collection includes a professional-style brush duo and a face and eye make-up palette which can be used time and time again to create thousands of different looks.

kiko-ake-It-All-Beauty-Kit

Starting with the Take It All Beauty Kit (£19.90) – this handy little palette contains three eyeshadows for both wet and dry use, as well as a bronzer, blush, a pencil for the waterline and lash line, an eyeshadow applicator and a small face brush – all presented in a sweet little zip around case.

The eyeshadows come in three lovely light to mid neutral shades, which include a light peachy pink shimmer, a light nude grey toned beige matte, and a mid plum toned brown matte. The bronzer and blush are also mid-toned easy to wear shades – with a lighter touch these work well on my pale complexion, but would also look really pretty on fair to mid skin tones too. The dinky little waterline and lash line pencil is a really nice addition, along with the mini brushes. The palette has a handy internal mirror and is contained in a lovely imitation saffiano leather case, which can be re-used once you’ve used up the makeup.

kiko-beauty-games-mascara-nail-polish

Next the Colour Shadows Nail Lacquer Set (£14.90) – this set contains a silver base coat, and three mini top coat nail colours that give varying degrees of coverage – these are also designed to blend together before the manicure has completely dried. I love the yellow shade in this set, it’s really bright and just perfect for summer!

And lastly the Beauty Energy Mascara (£7.90) – this mascara promises to curl, colour and lengthen lashes with a single coat, leaving them looking both full and thick. I have shade 02 Vivid Violet which is a gorgeous electric violet purple shade. It has a really nice silicone brush – the asymmetric bristles deposit the right quantity of product at the eyelashes’ roots and then separates and defines them from the roots to the tips.

I have to say I also really love the look of the eyeliner pencils and the 3D Light & Glow Highlighters in this collection (take a look via the link below) I’d love to hear if you have any Kiko products?

The Limited Edition Beauty Games Collection is available now at Kiko.

Cohorted June 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on June 14, 2016

cohorted-beauty-box-review-june-2016

Hi Guys!

As ever it doesnt seem like a week has passed since the last box arrived, and now June’s Cohorted box has just landed on my doormat! Let’s take a look what’s included in this months box –

  • HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy, worth £25.00.
  • NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, in Sierra, worth £20.00.
  • James Read Instant Bronzing Spray, worth £25.00.
  • Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner, in Smart Blue, worth £12.00.

Total value of box = £82.00.

Ok, so this box probably isn’t the most exciting I’ve seen from Cohorted (it would have been nice to receive five products rather than four) never the less at £82.00 it is a high value box, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and trying everything out…

I’m a big fan of NARS lip products, especially their Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, so I was really happy to find one in this months box! The shade Sierra is not really my colour though unfortunately – it’s kind of a burnt sienna / orange shade, which I think would look amazing on darker skin tones, but it doesn’t really do much for my pasty complexion! The booklet does say ‘mixed’ for the shade though, so it looks as though there will be a variety of shades on offer. I should also point out that though I’m not keen on this particular colour, I definitely think NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are one of the best matte lipsticks you can buy.

The Lord & Berry Supreme Iridescent Eyeliner also caught my eye – you know how I love a blue eyeliner! Shade Smart Blue is a deep midnight blue with a metallic matte finish. It applies nicely and the formula is smooth and soft, but not too soft – I’m really happy this was in the box!

The HD Brows Palette also looks pretty good – this palette contains a highlighter, three brow shades (all matte pressed powder) and a clear wax for setting the brows, as well as a double ended brush. It’s also great that the shadows are dual purpose, so you can use them both as eyeshadow and for your brows.

And lastly the James Read Instant Bronzing Spray – I must admit I’m usually quite wary when it comes to fake tan as I’m pretty pale. The James Read Instant Bronzing Spray promises to deliver an all over golden tan with ease. I’ll be trying this out over the next few days so keep an eye on my snapchat (tsncblog) to see how I get on!

I’d love to hear if you picked up this box and what you thought of it?
