Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend? I have a brand new range of products to share with you today – the Armani Prima collection by Georgio Armani offers targeted skincare solutions for anyone who finds their makeup becoming problematic throughout the day. Whether your eyeshadow creases, your foundation fades, or your skin becomes oily and shiny, Georgio Armani have a solution for you!

armani-prima-collection-review

The Prima range aims ‘to convert makeup lovers into skincare lovers‘ and includes five products to prevent pretty much any type of makeup disaster before it happens –

  • Smart Moisture Serum – to stop foundation fading throughout the day.
  • Glow-On Moisturising Balm – to help eradicate shine.
  • Eye & Lip Contour Perfector – to prevent eyeshadow creasing / stop lipstick fading and smudging around the lips.
  • Day Long Skin Perfector – to stop foundation becoming cakey and patchy, and settling into pores and fine lines.
  • Refreshing Makeup Fix – to help your makeup stay put all day.

armani-prima-products

I have three products from the collection –

The Glow-on Moisturizing Balm (£62.00) is a wonderfully luxurious, yet lightweight balm. I wanted to make a point of saying its lightweight because I think people often assume a ‘luxurious’ product like this would be heavy and rich – this is very much the opposite though. The Glow-on Moisturizing Balm has been formulated to give you glowing, plumped skin as well as 24 hour moisture. The balm instantly melts into the skin and contains Georgio Armani’s Liquid Mirror Complex, which ensures a prolonged reflection of the light on the skin. I’ve used this a couple of times now and I just love how it makes my skin feel incredibly smooth and even before applying my makeup. It worked well at helping my foundation to stay put and keeping shine at bay around my nose.

The Eye & Lip Contour Perfector (£35.00) is an ingenious 2-in-1 product that targets both the lips and under eye area. It contains Buckwheat extract and Haloxyl to reduce dark circles and under eye puffiness, and Glycerin, Jojoba butter and Hydralip to give intensified hydration and reduce fine lines. Personally, I love using this on my lips – it feels so smooth and nourishing, like a super luxurious lip balm. It definitely primes the lips well making them super soft before applying lipstick, and I noticed my lipstick lasted longer when using this product prior to application.

And lastly the Refreshing Makeup Fix (£30.00) – this fantastic setting spray refreshes, protects and sets in just one spritz. I’m a big fan of any spray products for the face, whether it’s a setting spry or a face mist – and I love that this both sets your makeup and gives a boost of refreshment in one product. The Refreshing Makeup Fix sprays a light, delicate scented mist over the face which feels cool and refreshing whilst protecting the skin against external factors, and of course it also helps boost the appearance of make-up all day.

I have to say I’m really impressed with these products – they’re definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for some luxurious base products to help prime and keep your makeup staying put throughout the day.

The Georgio Armani Prima range is available now at House of Fraser.

On first impression I’m really impressed with the contents of the first TILI box. QVC have included some amazing high end brands, as well as covering a range of beauty including skincare, hair care and makeup. Let’s take a closer look at the products –

Alpha H Liquid gold: Arealy a cult product, this powerful revitalising lotion is designed to help dull, tired and ageing skin appear brighter, as well as improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Vita Librata Phenomenal Mousse: This self-tanning mousse is fast-drying and is designed to last for up to two to three weeks – which really is amazing! It also has a tailored-to-you formula allowing you to choose your desired level of colour.

With the brand’s patented Long Life Herb Extract at its core, this formula leaves your skin feeling empowered, renewed and fortified.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter: This is another must-have cult product, due to the recent popularity of the Becca brand – it’s also been on my wish list for a while so I’m really pleased to find this in the box! The Becca Backlight Priming Filter acts as an instant filter on the skin, creating a diffused, soft-focused radiance that allows your complexion to catch light for a glowing look. It’s also infused with Becca’s blend of crushed pearls, giving the complexion a lit-from-within, healthy-looking glow.

Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers: A classic shade that all nail enthusiasts will be aware of – Ballet slippers is a beautiful pale pink polish with a subtle, sheer finish. This beloved award-winning essential is an iconic colour for all seasons.

qvc-tili-beauty-box-review

Nexxus Shampoo and Conditioner: This shampoo and conditioner duo is perfect for re-balancing and hydrating dry or damaged hair. They contain 100% pure elastin protein and a precious caviar complex to help restore the hair’s natural protective barrier, leaving hair balanced and flexible.

Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water: This refreshing and clarifying micellar water effectively cleanses the skin, removing make-up and the daily build-up of skin pollutants. Cleansing micelles are combined with a complex of natural surfactants to lift impurities from the skin, revealing a clear, radiant complexion.

I have to say I’m really impressed with QVC’s first TILI box. I think the price is fantastic considering the brands included as well as the decent sizes of the luxury samples. This is definitely a must have for beauty box fans!

The QVC July TILI Beauty Box is available from 22/07/16 at QVC.

New Matte Rescue Gel and Instant Wipeout Masks From Benefit Cosmetics

Posted on February 21, 2016

benefit-porefessional-review

Hi Guys!

When it comes to my skin, my pores are pretty much the bane of my life. In my teens and twenties I didn’t have any problems with my skin – apart from the odd spot popping up here and there, my complexion was really pretty good (I wish I’d appreciated it at the time) Now I’m the wrong side of 30 though, my skin has become dryer, and my pores have become WAY more noticeable. At first it was just my nose, but now my entire t-zone has visible pores, and I will try pretty much anything to make them appear smaller.

This is where Benefit Cosmetics comes in. They have recently added two new products to their POREfessional range – the POREfessional Matte Rescue mattifying gel and the POREfessional Instant Wipeout Masks – to clean out and smooth out the look of pores. I’m really hoping these products will work for me!

Ok so let’s look at the Matte Rescue invisible-finish mattifying gel first. This is designed to instantly minimise the appearance of pores. It’s a lightweight, water-based gel that tackles shine and absorbs excess oil, to leave skin with a natural-looking matte finish.

I don’t often go for a matte finish when it comes to my complexion, just because my skin tends to be dry, and anything with a matte finish seems to emphasise my dryer areas. I wanted to give this gel the benefit of the doubt though! The product itself is clear, with a very slight tint of green to it. It has quite a watery feeling to it compared to other primers I’ve used – which I actually like, and it definitely adds to the ‘lightweight’ feeling on the skin. I don’t suffer from oily skin as such, but I do sometimes notice shine building up around my nose as the day goes on, so I thought that would be the perfect test for this product – will my nose still be matte at the end of the day?

Well, on first application Matte Rescue definitely did give a lovely soft-focus, matte finish to my complexion, and it did a good job of blurring the appearance of my pores. I then applied my makeup and went about my day as usual. Matte Rescue actually did the job – I had no shine throughout the day and my dryer patches were no worse than normal. This definitely gets a thumbs up from me, and I think it could really work wonders with those with problem oily skin too.

benefit-instant-wipeout-masks-review

The Instant Wipeout dual-sided pore clarifying masks come in a set of eight. They are designed to clean out as well as smooth the look of pores around the nose, forehead and chin. (This sounds perfect for me as these are my problem areas) The masks are made of a textured fabric woven from cottony fibres to help exfoliate and remove impurities.

To ‘activate’ the mask you press firmly on the plastic bubble to release the serum and saturate the mask. You then apply the smoother side of the mask to the pore-problem area – I should point out here that I was kind of expecting a full face mask minus the cheeks, somehow! As the packaging mentions nose, forehead and chin. The mask is actually for one of these areas only, so the size of it is about the third of a face, and you choose which area you want to put it on. After 10 minutes, you remove the mask and use the other side to wipe off, without rinsing.

So I have sensitive skin, and masks can often be a bit of an issue for me as I occasionally have an allergic reaction to them. I’m very pleased to say the Instant Wipeout masks were fine though, yay! I applied one to my nose area across the middle of my face, and it give an instant intense cooling effect. My skin was left feeling clean and cleansed.

Overall these are a couple of great products, but the Matte Rescue Gel is definitely my favourite!

The Matte Rescue Gel is £21.50 and the Instant Wipeout Masks (£24.50) are both available now from Boots and Benefit stores.

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

My Makeup Atelier Paris Top Picks!

Posted on July 28, 2015

makeup-atelier-paris

Hi Guys!

I’ve got an exciting new makeup brand on the blog today – well new to me anyway! In fact, it turns out that Makeup Atelier Paris isn’t actually new at all, I was quite surprised to hear that they’ve been around since the early 90’s! They kindly sent me an amazing bundle of products to try out, and rather than write about everything individually, I thought it’d be a good idea to put this post together focussing solely on my favourite products. I’m aware that Makeup Atelier Paris isn’t the best known brand on the market, so I thought this could be handy starting point for those looking to try some lesser known beauty brands…

makeup-atelier-paris-review

So firstly, a bit of background… Makeup Atelier Paris provide a massive range of cruelty free cosmetics, with an even larger range of shades. They actually offer over 50 shades of foundation and 20 shades of concealer and loose powders, which really is amazing!

Unlike many beauty brands, Makeup Atelier Paris also have their very own laboratory and manufacturing facility, which gives them a great advantage when it comes to innovation and responding to the latest trends. Makeup Atelier Paris’ laboratory is constantly working to increase the variety, quality and performance of their products.

Ok so here’s a little overview of some of my favourite products –

makeup-atelier-paris-base-products-review

makeup-atelier-paris-base-reviews

Starting with the bases (swatched from top to bottom above)

Waterproof Liquid Corrector and Concealer in FLWA1 IvoryThis is a great little concealer for medium coverage of blemishes. The tube is actually pretty substantial holding 8g of product, so you’l get a lot of use out of it. And the formula is also waterproof and contains light reflecting pigments. I found this didn’t give me quite the coverage I needed for my major under-eye bags, but it was great for general touch ups over the rest of my face.

Waterproof Liquid Foundation in FLW2BOk so I’m officially in love with this foundation. It’s long wearing, water resistant and gives fantastic medium to full coverage. It suits my normal to dry skin really well, and gives my complexion a beautifully flawless yet luminous finish when used over the primer. The shade FLW2B is also perfect for me, it’s just makes me look alive and healthy!

Eclat Makeup Base Primer – I do like a primer, but I must admit I’m a bit lazy and don’t use them on a day to day basis –  I just don’t have the time! This primer though, is perfect for dull and lifeless complexions (which unfortunately describes my face pretty well) it contains light enhancing and reflecting pigments to brighten and illuminate, and just gives skin a gorgeous glow without any sparkle or shine. This teams up perfectly for me with the Waterproof Liquid Foundation.

Iridescent Highlighter in Naked This is a gorgeous silvery pink high shimmer highlighter, very much like Benefit’s Moon Beam, this product is perfect for highlighting the cheekbones and brow bones, and it’s also easy to build up the intensity if you fancy practicing a bit of strobing!

makeup-atelier-paris-eyeshadow-palette-review

makeup-atelier-paris-eyesahdow-swatches

Eyeshadow Palette in T22Makeup Atelier Paris also have a massive selection of eyeshadow palettes on offer – 23 of them in fact! So there should really be something to suit everyone, whether you prefer neons or neutrals! The T22 palette contains five neutral shades, ranging from white to nearly black – unfortunately you can’t see the lighter shades too well on my super pale arms! All the shades in this palette have a matte finish, though other palettes also include glitter and pearl finishes too. The eyeshadow formula includes silicone and fatty acids to allow for smooth application, and Mica powder to create a soft focus, light reflecting appearance.

makeup-atelier-paris-longwear-lipcolour-review

makeup-atelier-paris-longwear-lipcolour-swatches

And lastly the Longwear Lip Colours in Beige Rose and Rouge Franc As you may have noticed, liquid lipsticks are everywhere at the moment, and Makeup Atelier Paris have their own range of 12 rich and intense shades. These Longwear Lip Colours have amazing pigmentation and give a velvet matte finish once dry. Beige Rose is a beautiful nude beige shade that’s slightly on the pink side so it’s easy to wear, and Rouge Franc is the most intense red, perfect for a statement lip. Both shades have fantastic pigmentation and are super long lasting.

Well, you won’t be surprised to hear that I’m SO happy to have discovered this brand! Apart from the fact that I’ve found the most amazing foundation and primer combo for my skin, the other products are all fantastic too, and I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of them. If you’re looking to try out some new beauty products – especially bases – I’d highly recommend you check out Makeup Atelier Paris.

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

ARK Skin Protector SPF30 Primer Review & Offer

Posted on June 5, 2015

ark-primer-review

Hi Guys!

You may have seen this ARK Skincare primer pop up a couple of weeks ago in my Weekly Top 5 post, it’s such an interesting product I thought I’d put together a full review for you.

I’m a relative newcomer to the world of primers, I’ve been using and wearing makeup regularly since I was about 18, but I’ve only started using primers over the last few years. I’d always had pretty good skin and used to go out with nothing more that a tinted moisturiser but as I’ve gotten older, my skin has become dryer and requires a bit more effort to look after and maintain. I also found that as I started using higher coverage foundations they weren’t always sitting well on my skin.

And this is where primers come in! Forgive me if you know this already, but for those of you that aren’t familiar with primers and what they do, basically imagine your skin very close up, it’s full of pores and minute lumps and bumps. A primer basically helps ‘fill in’ these areas, and smoothes over any irregularities, giving a more even surface to apply your foundation to. Apart from helping to give a more flawless look, it also helps your foundation stay put.

There are many different types of primer available for different needs and different skin types. Whether you want to blur wrinkles, mattify your skin, minimise the appearance of pores or even out your skin tone, there’s a primer out there that will do the job! The most common type of primer contains silicone, which is fantastic for ‘filling in’ and creating a smooth base, but some people don’t like the way the silicone feels and sits on the skin (it doesn’t sink in) so if you’re not a silicone fan, ARK have something a little different on offer…

ark-skin-perfector-primer

ARK’s Anti-Ageing Skin Protector Primer doubles up as a primer as well as sun protection with SPF 30 broad spectrum defence against UVA and UVB rays, which prevents sun damage and premature ageing. This primer does not contain silicone, yet it’s designed to leave skin looking flawless and has clinically-proven skin benefits. It utilises ARK’s Advanced Active Antioxidant system with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, and extracts of Jojoba for daily defence against ageing.

ark-spf30-primer-review

This primer definitely stands out compared to the others I own! Firstly, because there’s no silicone in it, ARK’s primer looks and feels very different to the rest. It appears much like a moisturiser, but with a slightly thinner texture. When applied to the skin it sinks in nicely giving a weightless feel that also leaves skin velvety to touch. I’ve worn this quite a few times now, both under foundation and on its own, and it definitely helps my foundation last all day as well as evening out my complexion. If you’re looking for a light-weight base that improves skin texture, as well as offering sun protection, you should definitely try this!

ARK’s Anti-Ageing Skin Protector SPF 30 Primer is also on offer right now! If this sounds like it could work for you, now’s the time to snap it up here!

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear which primer you use?

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer & Beauty Confidential at House of Fraser

Posted on April 4, 2015

ysl-touche-eclat-blur-primer-review-

Hi Guys!

It’s nearly Easter and I officially have no Eggs. Not chocolate, nothing. Slightly off the point I know but all I can think of while I’m writing this is that I NEED chocolate – only something small though as I’m trying to be good, of course. So I’m about to go out and raid the Tesco Easter aisle – but before I do I thought I’d let you know about a fantastic offer House of Fraser has just started, and tell you all about the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer.

ysl-blur-primer-review

Ok so this is my first YSL beauty product in what feels like forever. Well actually since last August when I purchased the Fusion Ink Foundation which I adore. The Touché Éclat Blur Primer looks really interesting, it’s a clear silicone based primer, with tiny gold particles suspended in it. It’s just beautiful to look at, but I also don’t want to end up with a sparkly face. So let’s see how it performs…

ysl-primer-review

This is what YSL has to say – ‘Yves Saint Laurent`s Touché Éclat Blur Primer is a light-infused primer that evens and smooth`s pores and fine lines helping your make-up last longer. This new generation primer combines an advanced technology to create an ideal canvas. The magic light of Touché Éclat in a transparent gel, free of dulling opaque filler, allows light to diffuse through optimally. A perfect complexion instantly illuminated, pores are visibly diminished, skin texture is smoothed and skin luminosity is boosted.’

ysl-primer-gold-particles

The particles are super super tiny, this is the best shot I could get of them. But surprisingly even thought they’re suspended throughout the bottle, this does not translate to a sparkly face at all, Yay!

ysl-blur-primer-swatch

I’ve rubbed the product into my hand just so you can see how non sparkly it is. You can hardly see any of the particles, and can only just catch some of them in the right light. I’m wearing it now and I can tell you underneath foundation they are pretty much non detectable, but you are left with a more illuminated complexion. I’m really glad because this is definitely a fantastic primer. I’ve currently been using BD Trade Secrets Primer which is great, but this one easily tops it. The YSL Blur Primer just feels so much more luxurious – of course it is more expensive (£29.50) but definitely worth it in my opinion. It has such a light texture that you don’t feel like you’re wearing a primer, it doesn’t feel like it’s sitting on the skin like some primers do. I haven’t had it on very long so I’ll report back later with my thoughts on if it’s helped my makeup last longer. I can tell you that it’s worked wonders on disguising my enlarged pores and left my skin with a lovely smooth finish.

TsCsBeauty_Confidential

And now onto the offer I mentioned! House of Fraser have just started their latest Beauty Confidential promotion, where they’re giving you £10 off one your your favourite beauty products, when you buy one of theirs. It’s valid on 30 of their most popular products (including this YSL primer) and the offer will run from 02/04/15 – 19/04/15.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear what your favourite YSL product is? xxx

This post is in collaboration with House of Fraser.

My Top Picks From Neve Cosmetics

Posted on March 26, 2015

neve-cosmetics-picks

Hi Guys!

You know I love bright colours, and Neve Cosmetics really have hit the nail on the head here! I’ve got some fab products to show you today, including this amazing palette of rainbow eyeshadow shades, a brightening primer, coloured eyeliner pencil, concealer and illuminating powder.

neve-cosmetics-Intensissimi-eyeshadow-palette

The Intensissimi Eye Palette (£21.95) contains ten bright and bold eyeshadow shades, in a fantastic array of rainbow colours. I know this isn’t going to be everyone’s’ cup of tea, so it’s also worth noting they have other palettes available with darker colours, pastel shades and neutrals too. I love that the palette is a really good size, and the pans are massive so you definitely get your money’s worth when it comes to the amount of product included. The only improvement I’d add is a mirror in the lid!

Intensissimi-eyeshadow-palette-swatches

Intensissimi-eyeshadow-palette-swatches-2

And just look at the pigmentation! These colours rally are superb. They’re super soft, full of pigment and are easy to apply and blend too. The only palette I have that I can compare this too is the Makeup Revolution Colour Chaos Palette, which is smaller in size but full of bright shades. I think the Neve palette comes out on top just because the pigmentation is that much better, though I’d still recommend the MUR palette if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative.

neve-highlighter-and-concealer

I also have the Hide and Seek Concealer (£6.95) – this is a handy little pot of cream concealer that really does the job. It dries to a matte powder finish, and it’s also vegan, silicone and paraben free. I have the second lightest shade which is Light and it’s definitely fair enough for my neon white skin tone. I love the super matte finish it gives – there’s nothing creamy or shiny about this product at all. I’m currently using it to help disguise my under eye dark circles and it’s doing a great job!

The Illuminismo Face Powder (£9.95) is a gorgeous soft and silky weightless powder that highlights the complexion – it’s basically a loose powder version of MAC’s MSF’s. It’s perfect for creating highlights under the brows, on the cheekbones, or wherever you want your skin to catch the light. Again it contains no parabens and no silicones and it’s vegan and cruelty free. I have to say I really love the finish of this powder, it really is just like a MSF, but I think I’d prefer it in a pressed powder just for ease of use.

And the BioPrimer Brightening Primer for dull skin (£9.50) – this is another vegan, cruelty and silicone free product, promising a smooth finish to the skin with brightening properties to enhance a dull or dry complexion. This sounds just what I need right now! It’s formulated with nourishing argan oil, protective shea butter and moisturising aloe extract, so this primer aims to give skin a healthy and radiant finish. I love that it gives the slightest hint of illumination to the skin, I couldn’t capture it on camera unfortunately. It’s not sparkly or shimmery, but definitely illuminating and just makes your complexion look a bit brighter.

neve-cosmetics-eye-look

I’m really impressed with all of the products I’ve been using today, and I can’t get enough of the amazing eyeshadow palette. I’ve used some of the eyeshadow shades, and the Pastello Eyeliner Pencil in Turquoise (£3.95) in the waterline to creat a quick, fun and colourful eye look – what do you think?

Neve Cosmetics are available in the UK from Cute Cosmetics – do check them out, as I brand I think they’re definitely underrated! And I also have a previous post on their lip products here.

I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx
