The price of this calendar is £69.95, which I think is a really good deal – especially considering the products included are worth over £270. But if I were to be picky, I’d probably say the MUA palette is a little out of place here – it would have been nice to see something of a bit higher value in its place really. I’m not complaining though, I still think this is an excellent calendar!

New Releases from Rodial and Nip + Fab: Instaglam Compacts, Dragon’s Blood, & Bee Sting Pads!

Posted on July 11, 2016

rodial-nip-fab-products

Hi Guys!

The beauty buffs among you will know that Rodial and Nip + Fab are sister companies, with Rodial being the high end (and more expensive) older sister, and Nip + Fab being the fun loving younger sibling with mass-market appeal. Both brands are fantastic in their own right, and I wanted to show you some of their latest releases today…

Rodial have recently added two new items to their makeup range – the Instaglam Contouring Powder in Dark and the Instaglam Banana Powder…

Starting with the Instaglam Compact Deluxe Contouring Powder in Dark (£52.00) – I’m a massive fan of the original Instaglam Contouring Powder – you can see me wearing it here. It’s the perfect cool taupe contour shade for my fair complexion. Rodial are now offering the same fantastic product in a darker shade with reddish undertones, perfect for those with deeper complexions.

And they have also just launched their Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana Powder (£52.00) – this multi-use powder is perfect to use as a matte highlighter, along with the Contouring Powder to enhance the shape of the face. The formula is wonderful for minimizing fine lines and imperfections for a shine-free complexion and a natural, flawless finish. The Banana Powder is also fantastic as a matte setting powder to help reduce oiliness, or perfect to use for ‘baking’ the face.

In skincare, I have their new SUPER ACIDS X-Treme Hangover Mask (£45.00 at ASOS) – this is a triple action clay mask designed to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and leave you with a radiant looking complexion. It contains Pronalen Fruit Acid to gently exfoliate and eliminate dead skin cells, Laracare helps to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and Biotilys Probiotic Technology to help mattify shine, improve hydration and boost radiance. This is the perfect ‘recovery’ clay face mask to revitalise tired looking skin and draw out impurities.

Now on to Nip + Fab, their Bee Sting Fix Toning Pads (£12.95 at ASOS)  really are amazing. Perfect for refreshing and cleansing, these pads contain Bee Venom which acts as a natural botox to increase blood circulation and plump the skin, whilst filling fine lines and wrinkles. Witch Hazel and Propolis repairs broken skin, tightens pores and deep cleanses the complexion of daily dirt, helping to boost skin clarity and the effectiveness of products to follow, and Allantoin provides a natural protectant for the skin and encourages cell generation.

The Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme (£14.95 at ASOS) contain Nip + Fab’s highest level of glycolic acid (5%) as well as salicylic acid, to exfoliate the skin, refine pores, brighten the complexion and de-congest the skin through the improvement of the skin’s natural exfoliation process. It also includes Lactic Acid to remove dead cells and toxins from the skin, and Hyaluronic Acid for improved hydration.

And lastly the Dragon’s Blood Fix Hyaluronic Shot (£24.95 at ASOS) – perfect for dry skin, this product is designed to intensely and deeply hydrate, leaving a soft, plump complexion. Dragons Blood is in fact a sap found in the Croton Lechleri tree in the Amazon, it works to protect and heal the skin from outside aggressions, preventing environmental damage and motivating skin cell regeneration, as well as inhibiting inflammation and reducing redness. The formula also contains Hyaluronic Acid to instantly plump the appearance of the complexion. I love that the Dragons Blood Hyaluronic Fix Shot can be used directly onto the skin, or mixed with other products for a double ‘shot’ of hydration and plumping action!

Rodial Limited Edition Dragon’s Blood XXL Sculpting Serum

Posted on March 16, 2016

Rodial-Limited-Edition-Dragon's-Blood-XXL-Sculpting-Serum-2

Hi Guys!

Luxury beauty and skincare brand Rodial have just announced the launch of the rather special Limited Edition Dragon’s Blood XXL Sculpting Serum. This is a limited collector’s edition of their triple potency XXL Advanced Sculpting Serum, specially created to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their iconic Dragon’s Blood range.

If you’re not familiar with this range, Rodial’s ‘Dragon’s Blood’ is actually sap from the Croton Lechleri tree, which is historically used for medicinal and healing purposes. Incorporating this into the product range leaves a protective film on the skin after application, which helps to reduce redness and inflammation, whilst smoothing, plumping and hydrating skin. This is also an ideal range of products for those with sensitive or stressed skin, as the combination of dragon’s blood with hyaluronic acid is perfect for treating loss of elasticity and dehydration – this is good news for me then!

The Limited Edition Dragon’s Blood XXL Sculpting Serum infuses the skin with an intense triple potency hit of dragon’s blood complex to help the complexion regain its youthful bounce. The unique Dragon’s Blood complex is combined with Dermapep and HemaTite to oxygenate, firm, moisturise and redensify the skin to reduce appearance of wrinkles and improve skin elasticity. Tetrepeptide-6 stimulates the biometic growth factors that produce new tissues and blood vessels, resulting in increased micro-circulation and oxygenation in the skin, for improved vitality and a natural glow.

The limited edition bottle is presented in a beautifully embellished display box and has a crystal band added to the silver cap seal, and with less than 1000 units being produced, this limited edition serum will be perfect for any avid beauty collector.

The Limited Edition Dragon’s Blood XXL Sculpting Serum is £125 and available now direct from Rodial. It will also be available at Harrods and Space NK from April.

Makeup Bag Update – A Spring Beauty Look

Posted on April 23, 2015

spring-beauty-look-products

Hi Guys!

It seems like forever since I last did a makeup look on the blog, and I thought you lovely lot might have forgotten what I actually look like so I decided to put together a nice fresh spring look using some new products I’ve just started trying out. I thought this would give me a great chance to review them whilst putting my look together 🙂

Here’s what I’ve been using –

  • SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow Palette, £45 from Selfridges
  • RMK Vintage Candy Cheeks in 01, £20 from Selfridges
  • RMK Vintage Drop Gloss in 01, £14 from Selfridges
  • Laura Mercier Silk Crème Photo Edition Foundation in Ivory, £35 from Selfridges
  • Butter London Cheeky Tinted Highlighter in Twit, £20 from Butter London
  • Rodial Instaglam Deluxe Contouring Powder, £52 from Rodial
  • Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Fair, £28 from Debenhams
  • MAC MSF Duo in Jolly Good (from The Osbournes collection, no longer available)
  • Bourjois Stylo Eyeliner Pencil in Noir, £5.99 from Boots

spring-beauty-look

So here I am! And I’m pretty pleased with how this look turned out – natural yet glowing I think! Starting with the base I went primer free for a change and just used the Laura Mercier Silk Crème Photo Edition Foundation in Ivory, this shade is slightly on the yellow side for my skin tone, but it actually looked great once I’d blended it in! Luckily my skin is in pretty good nick at the moment, I have to say wouldn’t recommend this foundation if you have dry skin – it’s one of those foundations that look great on normal skin, but will definitely highlight any dry areas if you have them. It gave fantastic coverage though and I’d highly recommend it if you’re on the hunt for a decent foundation.

I set my foundation with the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Fair, which is fantastic as a foundation and a setting powder. It’s really well pigmented and it didn’t make my skin feel dry. I then contoured lightly with my current favourite contouring product, the Rodial Instaglam Deluxe Contouring Powder – this stuff is fantastic if you have a fair complexion like I do, as you physically can’t go too heavy with it. I then used the Butter London Cheeky Tinted Highlighter in Twit and RMK Vintage Candy Cheeks in 02 Candy Rose to highlight and give my cheeks a bit of colour. Twit is a gorgeous bronzy gold which will look fabulous on tanned skins – I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of it this summer. I then finished my face with my trusty MAC MSF Duo in Jolly Good  to give my complexion an all over lovely glow.

For the eyes I went with the SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow Palette (see close up below) I love this palette, the colours are just stunning (please see below for rant about how much I love this palette!). I also used my Bourjois Stylo Eyeliner Pencil in Noir, which is a really nice soft black shade, it’s not intensely black so it’s perfect for a not-so-heavy day look. I finished off my eyes with some false lashes because my natural lashes are super short – but I have no idea which they are I’m afraid. They’re likely to be by Eyelure ones but I’m not sure which set exactly as they weren’t in their original packet.

I finished off the look with the RMK Vintage Drop Lip Gloss in 01, apart from looking super cute, this gloss gives a fabulous high shine yet non-sticky finish. It’s also really hydrating which is a bonus if your lips tend to be dry like mine are.

eyes

I thought I’d include a close up of my eyes just so I can tell you how much I am IN LOVE with the SUQQU palette, seriously the colours are just stunning. Can I say it’s like having a sunset on your eyelids?? Well that’s how I’m going to describe them. The shades are gorgeous, and the formula is also fantastic and was just so easy to work with and blend. The SUQQU palette easily gets top marks from me. (Also please ignore my eyebrows, I know they need some work!)

At this point I was going to go through and tell you which of these products I’ll be adding to my makeup bag, but I actually love all of them so I’m basically going to have a massive makeup bag overhaul!

I’d love to hear what you think? Or if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Valentine’s Date Look with Rodial

Posted on February 17, 2015

rodial-makeup-look

Hi Guys!

Last week the lovely people at Rodial kindly sent me a beautiful package of makeup, so I could put together a Valentine’s look! I was so excited as I’d heard about Rodial’s new makeup range but hadn’t had a chance to try anything yet! Rodial’s cosmetic range is described as ‘a tightly edited selection of makeup products designed to sculpt and define the face’ and the products do just that. The look I’ve put together is just a really natural, pretty and easy to wear, and I have to say I’m beyond impressed with everything I’ve used so far…

rodial-products

Hylauronic Cheek Sculpt in Rush.

At first I thought this was a liquid contouring product – the word sculpt in the product name threw me! This is actually a gel blush, in a fantastic little pump bottle. I was quite surprised at how bright the shade was when I first saw it, but even though the colour looked super bright, it actually comes out very sheer, and creates more of a tint when applied – so if you’re looking for a more intense colour blush, this is not for you. This Cheek Sculpt gives a lovely light flush of colour while Hyaluronic acid works to plump the skin.

rodial-contouring-powder

Instaglam Compact Deluxe Contouring Powder.

This has to be my favourite product out of them all. The Instaglam Compact Deluxe Contouring Powder is the perfect muted grey toned brown shade to sculpt and contour the face. I used it under my cheekbones, along my jaw line (it definitely works well here to create a more defined jaw) I also used it slightly down the sides of my nose and at the base of my chin. This powder is just spot on, from the shade to the formula, you can easily build up the depth of colour as required, and it even suits super pale complexions like mine.

Instaglam Retouch.

This is a lightweight eye perfecting and brightening concealer with hyaluronic acid to plump out appearance of fine lines and smooth the delicate skin area around the eyes, for instantly wide-awake, younger looking eyes. The handy pen-style applicator makes touch-ups throughout the day easy. I applied under my eyes using the pen and patted out the product with my fingers.

rodial-eye-sculpt

Eye Sculpt.

This is a lovely little pot of cream eyeshadow, which actually has a rather nice mousse like texture. On first inspection the colour looked pretty dark, but it’s actually a really versatile formula that allows you to build the colour up as dark as you like. I applied it to my lids with my fingers and worked into the crease with the Eye Smudge brush. Eye Sculpt is also recommended for use on the eyebrows, or also for contouring the face, so this is a fantastic multi use product!

Glamstick in Wet.

Again, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the Glamstick, but it turns out to be a lovely tinted lip butter. It’s enriched with vitamin E and cocoa butter to offer instant hydration, with a tinted formula to give lips a beautiful hint of colour. The Glamstick left my lips super moisturised –  which they really need at the moment, and offered a hint of colour which helps to brighten the complexion.

The Eye Smudge Brush.

I love trying out new makeup brushes, and this Eye Smudge Brush is definitely a winner! This brush has an elongated oval shape, and the hairs are densely packed yet soft enough, so they’re perfect for picking up pigments, adding an eye base colour, and blending shadows out. This is an excellent multi-use brush.

rodial-swatches

So there we have it! I love that Rodial are going for a very natural look and finish with their product range, everything is designed to enhance, rather than cover what you already have. There are no outlandish, garish colours or finishes here, and everything is easy to use and easy to wear. The Insta  and Sculpt product names imply a flawless, photo finish – and these products really don’t disappoint. The Contouring powder, Glamstick and Smudge Brush have all become makeup bag staples for me, and I’m really looking forward to trying some more out from the range!

All products are available at Rodial.

(FYI I also used Makeup Forever HD Foundation, Collection Lip Liner, Bourjois Mega Liner, MAC Pigment in Jardin Aires and Benefit Roller Lash in my look)

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx
