Every Single Beauty Advent Calendar for Christmas 2017!

Posted on September 4, 2017

Hi Guys!

Well it’s that time again, and it’s definitely true when they say Christmas comes earlier every year. I actually can’t believe I’m talking about Advent Calendars already!

I’ve put this post together so I can share as much early bird info as possible. I’m gathering together all the information that I can on every single beauty advent calendar available for 2017. I’m also including candles and a couple of other extra special ones that have caught my eye.

I should point out that some of these calendars are available now (hence why I’m publishing this post now), some are pre-order / waitlist, and others aren’t available as yet. I’ll include details on availability for each one so you know when you’ll be able to snap them up, as well as updating release dates as and when I have them – so be sure to bookmark this post and keep checking back for new info!

I’ll also be adding more calendars as I come across them – so do keep checking back for (hopefully) the most comprehensive list of beauty advent calendars around!

Beauty: Liz Earle Skincare on Trial

Posted on July 10, 2017

Hi Guys!

I’ve been trying out a few products from Liz Earle over the last couple of weeks, and wanted to give you the low down today and let you know how I’ve been getting on with them. My skin is pretty dry and can often be sensitive, which means I have to be a bit careful when it comes to trying out new skincare products – if you have sensitive skin you’ll know what I mean! I’ve been trying out a new limited edition Cleanse & Polish, a Moisturiser for sensitive skin, and a few other skincare products. Read on to find out my thoughts…

Starting with the Cleanse & Polish Grapefruit & Patchouli (£22.75 for 150ml including 2x cotton cloths) – Liz Earle’s classic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser has been revamped into a fab limited edition for summer 2017. This new Grapefruit & Patchouli version is just the same as the original in terms of formula, but this is fragranced with an invigorating blend of zesty grapefruit and woody patchouli essential oils.

If you’re not familiar with Cleanse & Polish, this cult product is a thick, rich cream that does a fantastic job of removing dirt, grease and makeup from the skin, leaving your complexion feeling fresh and clean. It’s actually been quite a few years since I last use the original Cleanse & Polish, so I was looking forward to trying out this new scented version. Firstly, I have to say it smells heavenly! And after massaging into the skin, it really does deep cleanse and remove all traces of makeup, as well as lightly exfoliating – leaving skin feeling fresh, clear and bright.

The Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer (£14.75) is up next. This toner has a light floral fragrance, and contains naturally active ingredients including Aloe Vera to revitalise and soften and Calendula, Chamomile, Cucumber and Vitamin E to soothe and refresh the skin. You can use it directly after the Cleanse & Polish to soothe the skin, or just spritz over both face and body and time of day to refresh and revitalize.

I’ve also been trying the Superskin Moisturiser (£39.00 for 50ml) – I went with the unfragranced version for sensitive skin, which contains Cranberry, Borage and Rosehip Seed oils. I’ve been using this after the above Skin Tonic Toner, massaging into my face and neck, and I have to say my skin has been feeling fantastic!

Liz Earle have advised for optimal results to follow the specific facial massage techniques below. This should help clear toxins, reduce puffiness, boost circulation and aid lymphatic drainage:

Step 1: Apply to face with upward and outward movements using firm pressure.

Step 2: With your fingertips, lightly smooth in an outward circular direction along the cheekbones to above the eyebrows.

Step 3: Using the thumb and ring finger, gently pinch along the brow bone from the nose to the outer edge of the brow.

Step 4: Finish by gently sweeping your hands up the neck and over the décolletage.

For the body, I have the SuperSkin Dry Body Oil (£35.00 for 100ml) – I’m a big fan of skin oils, so this fast absorbing dry body oil sounded right up my street! The SuperSkin Dry Body Oil has been formulated with Liz Earle’s botanical blend of Cranberry, Borage and Rosehip Seed oils to visibly smooth, nourish and revitalise the skin. The oil itself if super lightweight, and I find it works well right after showering. It absorbs really quickly, leaving the skin feeling soft, supple and lightly scented.

And lastly the Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion (from £7.50 for 50ml) – as someone that suffers daily with dry, puffy and tired eyes, I was most excited about trying this product. The Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion promises to instantly revitalise and refresh tired and puffy eyes, and it contains Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera and Cornflower to cool and soothe the delicate eye area.

I have to say I was expecting a creamy lotion, but the formula is actually very thin and wet – just like water. You simply need to apply some product to a cotton wool pad (how much you use is up to you) and sweep lightly over the eyelids – or you can also soak two pads in the product and leave on for up to 10 minutes, for a revitalising, soothing compress.

I’ve used this a few times now, and it really does feel lovely and refreshing on the eye area – I’ve also found that keeping the bottle in the fridge works wonders as the liquid feels extra cool and soothing when you apply it. If you suffer from puffy eyes like I do, this is definitely one to try.

Overall I’m really impressed with all the products I’ve been trying out – the new limited edition Cleanse & Polish is a lovely revamp of a classic product, the SuperSkin Unscented Moisturiser is a fantastic every day moisturiser for sensitive skin especially, and the EyeBright Lotion really did work wonders to relieve my tired eyes.

I’d love to hear which Liz Earle products you use and enjoy? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Heatwave! All The Beauty Products You Need Right Now…

Posted on July 7, 2017

Hi Guys!

The warm weather has finally hit the UK, and being British, of course we just don’t know what to do with ourselves – well personally I don’t function so well in the heat, so I’ve been hiding indoors wherever possible! Today, I’ve put together a few products, aiming to help you fight the frizz with your hair, keep skin cool, and prevent makeup from sliding down your face…

So starting from the top, for hair protection I have the Phytoplage Original Protective Sun Oil (£17.00 at John Bell & Croyden) – this is a luxurious hair oil that’s perfect for protecting dry and damaged hair that has been weakened by the effects of sun exposure. It includes a natural UV filter and nourishes and moistures the hair so becomes soft and supple.

And the Phytoplage Huile Protective Sun Veil (£16.00 at John Bell & Croyden) – for those with normal to dry hair, the Protective Sun Veil offers an invisible UV filter including Sunflower Extract, Illipe Extract, White Lotus Extract and Sweet Almond to protect, hydrate and nourish hair.

If the dreaded summer frizz is a problem for you, Kerasilk have some fantastic products that can help. The Kerasilk Control De-Frizz Primer (£21.50 at Goodwill Salons) is packed with Keratin and Liquid Silk to instantly tame frizz & flyaway’s whilst working to protect against heat & humidity. And the Kerasilk Control Humidity Barrier Spray (£21.50 at Goldwell Salons) – shields styled hair from high humidity to block frizz, whilst giving a shiny, weightless finish.

Onto skincare now, the RMK Skintuner Cooling Gel – (£32.00 at Selfridges) is perfect for calming and refreshing the skin. It has a light gel formula that melts into the skin, absorbing quickly and leaving a smooth finish, without any stickiness. It contains extracts of Citrus and Bilberry, which permeate the skin, protecting against dryness, whilst helping to retain moisture.

For a cheaper alternative, the L’Oreal Hydra Genuis Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin (£9.99 at Boots) is a fantastic affordable moisturiser. Inspired by Asian skincare, Hydra Genuis promises to deliver pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously, without overloading the skin. It contains Aloe Vera Sap and Hyaluronic Acid to instantly refresh the skin and lock in moisture. This has a very similar texture to the above Skintuner Cooling Gel, and also promises to release continuous hydration for up to 72 hours.

I’ve also been loving the Uriage Eau Thermale Water (£8.50 at John Bell & Croyden) – this is a skincare water that you just spritz on your face whenever you want a cooling and refreshing hit. The formula contains trace elements and Mineral Salts, to moisturise, and it helps to sooth sensitive skin thanks to its high content of Calcium and Magnesium Salts.

And lastly the Bioderma Photoderm Bronz SPF50 Invisible Mist (£24.00 at John Bell & Croyden) – I have to say it really doesnt get better than this for sun protection. This invisible mist for face and body offers super high SPF50 protection combined with a 100% transparent, non oily and non sticky texture. It’s also alcohol free, doesnt dry the skin and helps to prolong your tan – what more could you need?

For makeup, the Cover FX Custom Blot Drops (£34.00 at Space NK) – are definitely worth a shot if you suffer with oily skin. These matifying drops work to control excess oil, reduce shine and clear pores. They also contain light diffusing particles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores whilst Chamomile Extract soothes and tones the skins texture for a flawless matte finish. You can either apply the product direct to the skin, or mix in with your foundation or moisturiser to customise results.

I also have the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (£13.50 at Boots) – this super lightweight, translucent setting powder is perfect for locking makeup in place, and offers a smudge and water resistant finish for up to 16 hours. It has a microfine texture that is translucent upon application, meaning it doesn’t affect the colour of your foundation, and gives a velvety matte, natural looking finish.

Clarins also have a few new products that are perfect for combatting the hot weather. The Clarins Pore Perfecting Matifying Foundation (£28.00 at Clarins) – this foundation has a matte finish and acts like an ‘imperfection eraser’ by smoothing out fine lines and pores with its micro-beads made from Acacia Gum. It promises to leave skin refreshed, smooth and comfortable.

And I love the Clarins Pore Perfecting Matifying Kit (£33.00 at Clarins) – this super handy little kit contains everything you need to smooth and mattify your skin on the go. The palette opens to reveal a transparent pressed powder to smooth the skin and mask pores, as well as refillable mattifying papers to instantly absorb shine. This kit is definitely handy to keep in your handbag over the summer months.

I’d love to hear which beauty products you rely on when the weather heats up? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Massive USA Beauty Haul & My Mall Box Service Review

Posted on June 20, 2017

Hi Guys!

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my massive US beauty haul that I shared a little while ago on my stories. Over the past few months I’ve been purchasing LOADS of bits and pieces from various US sites and having them sent to my US PO Box address – and I’ve finally got round to shipping them over here.

I’ll just quickly touch on what I’ve ordered – I’ll have full reviews of everything coming up shortly, but if anything catches your eye please shout and I’ll make it a priority –

Stila Magnificent Metals Duo Chromes – These are the three new iridescent duo chrome finish Magnificent Metal Liquid Eyeshadows from Stila – they’re gorgeous! I bought these quite a while ago now and they’re still not available in the UK, so I’m really glad I picked them up.

Clarins 4-Colour Pen – This is actually available in the UK now, but out of stock unfortunately. This nifty little pen contains three eyeliners and a nude lipliner in a click pen style – it’s such an unusual and fun concept!

A Selection of Korean beauty products from MeMeBox – I picked up a load of weird and wonderful sounding products from MeMeBox, including the above Pony Effect eyeshadow palette and Primer, as well as plenty of masks, including bubble masks and magical foaming beans! And I also grabbed som wine themed makeup (as you do) – I’m actually thinking of starting a Youtube channel and trying these products out on there. I think it could be really fun trying them out live on camera. Let me know if you’d like to see that!

Tarte Shape Tape I’d been wanting to try Tape Shape forever, and though they sell it here at QVC, they never had my shade in stock. I picked up the two lightest shades.

Marc Jacobs Enamored with a Twist Set – This was just a real splurge, honestly I’m such a sucker for pretty packaging! As soon as I saw this limited edition set I knew I had to have it! This is a limited edition colourful makeup bag that contains three lip glosses.

Hanacure Starter Set – I think I originally saw this advertised on Facebook, it sounded like a great facial set, and seemed to have really great reviews.

Like I said, please do let me know if you’d like to hear more about any of these products!

So, let’s take about My Mall Box now…

It was actually about a year ago now that I first reviewed the My Mall Box service – and they’ve made quite a few changes and improvements since then. Just to briefly explain, My Mall Box is essentially a shipping service that allows you to purchase items from the US and have them shipped to the UK – where shipping usually wouldn’t be possible from the companies directly.

When I wrote my last review, there were still a few restrictions with My Mall Box, as certain companies don’t (and still don’t) ship to the UK, or even to PO Boxes in the US. My Mall Box have now overcome this hurdle by offering a service that will buy the item for you, and have it shipped to your dedicated PO Box My Mall Box address, before forwarding on to you in the UK. There is a small fee for this service, but it does allow you to pick up items that would otherwise be unable to get hold of. An example of this is Stila. As soon as I tried their Magnificent Metals I was in love, then when I saw the new Duo Chrome shades I had to have them! They aren’t yet available in the UK and the Stila US site doesn‘t ship to the UK, or to PO Boxes in the US. So I completed the Buy For Me option at My Mall Box, sent them payment and they ordered what I wanted and had it delivered to my own ‘box’ at the My Mall Box warehouse, ready to be sent on to me – easy!

This really is such a handy service to have, and I believe this is the only mailing company that offers it currently (but please tell me if I’m wrong). My Mall Box are also looking into offering some really handy additional services and options – such as discounts and deals for regular customers – they’ve told me they’ll be rolling out their new services throughout the rest of the year, so I look forward to finding out and trialling what they’ll be offering.

At the moment like I said above, you can get MMB to ‘buy for you’, and they also have a page on their site where you can compare their shipping rates and fees to other providers, so you can make sure you’re getting the best deal, as well as a calculator so you can check what shipping options are provided before going ahead and purchasing your items.

You can also split a package into two smaller packages, have multiple items opened and repackaged together (to keep shipping costs down) and there’s a very handy FAQ section on the site that literally covers everything – and you can always email their customer services team who are fantastic at answering questions too.

The only thing I would mention to be aware of is it’s worth making a mental note of the restricted items list before making any purchases. Just like the UK, there are certain problem items that they can’t ship – the things that would affect me personally are items like fragrances and candles. This is just a handy thing to know before you place any orders.

If you’re interested in purchasing products from the US, I’d highly recommend you sign up to MMB. It’s easy to use, convenient and cost effective. You can sign up hereand doing so via this link will also give you a credit to your account.

I’d love to hear if you use mail referring services? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty: What’s New At Estee Lauder?

Posted on May 31, 2017

Hi Guys!

I have a few of Estee Lauder’s latest releases to share with you today – there’s a gorgeous new lipstick, various skincare items and also a couple of primers. Let’s take a look…

Starting with skincare, I have the DayWear Matte Oil-Control Anti-Oxidant Moisture Gel Creme (from £25.00 for 30ml at John Lewis) – this is a fantastic moisturiser for those with oily skin, as it helps to control oil and minimise shine throughout the day, whilst also reducing the look of visible pores. The formula is a fresh, ultra-light gel creme, which feels light and barely-there on the skin. It contains Estee Lauder’s Moisture Matte Technology to control oil for up to 8 hours – which is just what I need in this weather! My skin is usually quite dry, but more recently I’ve been getting oily areas around my nose and on my forehead. I’ve used this moisturiser a few times now and apart from leaving my skin feeling smooth and soft, it’s definitely helped keep the oil at bay.

I also have the Advanced Night Repair Recovery Mask-In-Oil (£49.50 for 30ml at John Lewis) – this has been designed to use with Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum to help ‘lock in’ the serum. The Recovery Mask in Oil contains Chronolux™ and Anti-Oxidants to help fortify skin to fight the appearance of aging, and the formula promises to strengthen, nourish and rebuild, preparing the skin for the day ahead by boosting its natural resistance to environmental stressors.

On to primers now – I have the Matte Perfecting Primer (£22.50 at John Lewis) – this mattifying primer again is perfect for the warmer weather as it controls oil and shine, whilst creating a silky-smooth canvas ready for makeup application. Unsurprisingly it works really well teamed with the above Moisture Gel Cream. This primer is oil free, and gives the skin a lovely velvety matte finish.

And the Smoother Universal Perfecting Primer (£22.50 at John Lewis) – unlike the Mattifying Primer above, this lightweight primer is infused with skin-softening apricot essence to optically perfect skin, diffusing the look of pores and imperfections. It leaves skin with a smooth, even texture.

For eyes, I have the new Revitalizing Supreme+ Global Anti-Aging Cell Power Eye Gelée (£36.00 for 8ml at John Lewis) – this multi-action, fatigue-fighting eye treatment promises to improve firmness and reduce the look of lines, wrinkles and puffiness. It has a cooling, metal massage tip which feels really refreshing, and also helps to reinvigorate the eye area and brighten the look of dark circles.

And lastly the new Pure Colour Love Lipstick (£17.10 at John Lewis) – described as fun and daring lip colour with good-for-you ingredients that help smooth lips and renew moisture, the new Pure Colour Love Lipsticks are available in 30 different shades, with a variety of finishes. There’s mattes, shimmer pearls, chromes and cremes, so whatever finish you prefer, you’re bound to find the perfect lipstick for you. The Cremes, Chromes and Shimmers have a deliciously balmy texture, and the Mattes are bold, vibrant, rich, long-lasting, and feel weightless on the lips.

Out of everything, I think the DayWear Matte Oil-Control Anti-Oxidant Moisture Gel Creme has to be my favourite product. I just love how it makes my skin feel hydrated but without any greasiness, or ‘heavy’ feeling like you can get with certain moisturisers. I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products?

Beauty: Primark PS… InstaGirl Makeup & Revive Skincare Collections

Posted on May 12, 2017

Hi Guys!

It’s been at least a few years since I last tried any makeup from Primark, so when I heard about the new InstaGirl makeup range and Revive Skinare collection, I was intrigued to see how their products have come on over the last few years…

The InstaGirl Collection is described as a selfie-ready cosmetics range, comprising of 17 pieces to offer quick fixes for all of your prep and prime needs. The base products have been specifically designed with feature enhancing blue pigments that reflect light and brighten the skin tone, and they also promise to be to be ‘flash proof’ – nobody wants flashback when you’re trying to take a selfie 😀

The products themselves are very ‘now’ both in terms of the packaging and the colour palette Primark have used. The packaging is clean and minimalist – perfect for including in your Insta photos, and the shades are all muted nudes. Subtle yet pretty, this collection is clearly marketed at the selfie generation. – I just hope the products perform as well as they look.

For the complexion, I have the Face Protecting Prime & Anti Shine Balm, which is a compact containing a solid balm and a flat sponge applicator. As I’m sure you can guess, the balm is supposed to prime and prevent shine – well personally I can tell you it did an ok job for me, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it if you have particularly oily skin.

The Perfecting Stick, is a slightly different primer designed to minimise the appearance of pores. I actually quite liked this one, it did the job as a primer and definitely helped give my foundation a more flawless finish.

And the Flash Photo Powder, which is a translucent powder with light reflecting blue pigments for photo ready skin. This isn’t the worst product in the world, but it did look pretty white on my (already pale) skin – maybe this could work if you’re super pale and looking for a finishing powder though.

For lips, the Intense Liquid Lipstick I have is a gorgeous muted nude greige-pink, and matching Kissproof Lipliner Pencil in Nude Selfie. I really love the colour, and the formula is pretty decent considering the price. This isn’t the sort of liquid lipstick that dries down, but I don’t really see that as a problem. It gave great coverage with only one swipe, and lasted a good few hours before I needed to re-apply.

And I also have the Lip Plump Gloss – which is a bit of an oxymoron as it supposedly has a matte finish! This is a tingly, and cooling clear gloss with a light minty scent, that has an invisible finish. It gives a light plumping feeling, which is very similar to Too Faced’s Lip Injection Glosses but not quite as intense.

There’s also an InstaGirl Fragrance – of course. This is a sweet girly scent, that would definitely appeal to younger generations, and it’s the perfect size for your handbag.

And lastly I have the One Coat Nail Lacquer in shade Nude Selfie which matches the lip products nicely. This is actually a fantastic polish, only taking one coat for full opaqueness. It didn’t last particularly long before chipping but I can definitely overlook that for the sake of the price.

Prices for the InstaGirl Collection range from £1.50 for the Lip Liners up to £6.00 for the Face Palette.

And the Revive collection is Primark’s first beauty range specifically created to soothe the body, relax the mind and lift the soul. The six-piece collection contains body scrubs, energizing sprays and natural oils to help relieve the stresses of modern day life.

I have the ginger and lemon Energising Spray, which is perfect to use first thing in the morning – revitalising the senses in just one pump. And the Anti Stress Spray which contains Lavender, Geranium and Ylang Ylang which can be used to ease feelings of stress and tension.

The Rose & Peony Perfume Oil has been designed to use on the pulse points, offering a fresh yet gentle floral scent that can be worn on a daily basis. And lastly the Massage Oil, which is definitely my favourite product out of the Revive collection. It contains Olive, Sweet Almond, Safflower, Soybean and Rose Flower oils to revitalise, calm the mind and nourish the body from head to toe.

Prices range from £1.50 to £3.00 for the Revive collection.

Overall I’m really impressed. I must admit I didn’t have the highest of hopes for these products just because of the price point, but in fact both collections really are pretty decent, and considering the prices, I think they’re definitely worth a look.

Have you tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Skincare: Multi Misting with Pixi Beauty #MultiMisting

Posted on April 24, 2017

Hi Guys!

Ok so we’ve all heard of multi-masking? Well now Pixi Beauty are taking things one step further with multi-misting! Which as you can guess, is all about layering up your favourite mists, and using them together in a way that suits your skin.

Pixi Beauty have just added a couple of brand new mists to their ever-expanding collection of products, including the Vitamin Wakeup Mist and the Sun Mist. I have the new Vitamin Wakeup Mist (£16.00 at M&S) – which is described as a boosting toner mist to revitalize and awaken the complexion. It has an orange blossom water base, which is blended with skin-loving citrus fruit extracts, lavendar, and arginine for a wonderfully zesty scent that instantly refreshes the skin on contact. You can use this any time of day just to cool the skin and give it a bit of a boost, though I prefer a spritz first thing in the morning. It also works well to freshen your makeup during the day, giving skin a shot of hydration and protection.

The Hydrating Milky Mist (£18.00 at M&S) is another favourite of mine. This is a featherlight mist that provides an instant surge of hydration to help plump up the skin. It contains hyaluronic acid to rehydrate, and a blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid to soothe and calm, and add moisture to the skin before you apply serum or makeup. My dry and sensitive skin just loves this – it gives an instant boost of hydration leaving my skin feeling happy and plump.

The Glow Mist (£16.00 at M&S) gives you a dewy, luminous and smooth complexion, which works to set makeup whilst hydrating and protecting the skin. Out of the four mists I’ve been trying out, I’d definitely say this one is a must have for everyone. It contains 13 natural oils, plus propolis which has has antiseptic and antioxidant properties, and aloe vera and fruit extracts which help to hydrate, protect and nourish the skin, all together leaving you with a radiant, healthy looking glow.

And lastly the Makeup Fixing Mist (£16.00 at M&S) – as you would expect, this mist prolongs your makeup and prevents it from sliding down your face as well as melting and settling into fine lines. It contains rose water and green tea to hydrate, protect and balance skin, giving you a fresh looking complexion with a soft-focus finish. You can also spray this directly onto your makeup brushes before applying product, to help your makeup last longer still.

I’m actually really struggling to tell you which is my favourite out of these mists. I love the Vitamin Mist to ‘wake up’ my skin in the morning, I love the Hydrating Milky Mist and Glow mist equally for an instant hit of hydration, whilst leaving my skin feeling rejuvenated, and the Makeup Setting Mist does exactly what you’d expect. So I think there really is something for everyone here!

Have you tried any Pixi Mists? I’d love to hear what your favourite is!
