Beauty: New Spring 2017 Lip Launches

Posted on March 29, 2017

Hi Guys!

There have been SO many new lip launches over the last few months, I really didn’t know where to start with them! So I decided in the end I’d just group everything together and talk you through them all. Some are pretty decent, some are really good, and a couple really are excellent. Let’s get stuck in!

Starting with the new Lord & Berry Timeless Kissproof Lipstick (£15.00 at HQ Hair) – now I must admit, Lord & Berry isn’t a brand that I’d usually gravitate towards, for no other reason than I’m just not overly familiar with their products. But I have to say their new Timeless Kiss Proof Lipsticks really are fantastic!

They have a lovely, creamy formula that contains a nourishing blend of Neem, Sesame and Indian Frankincense Essential Oils, making them super comfortable on the lips, whilst being incredibly pigmented with a transfer-resistant matte finish. I really was impressed with these and they’re definitely worth checking out. I have shades –

  • Brave Red – a true red
  • Pop Pink – an intense magenta
  • First Lady – a mid brown with gold sparkle

(I should just mention that I took my photos before the products had a chance to dry, so just letting you know they do dry down matte)

Next we have the Chantecaille Matte Chic Lipsticks (£33.00 at Space NK) – you probably won’t be surprised to hear these are the most expensive products in this round up. The Matte Chic lipsticks have a light, whipped texture that’s very similar to the new Burberry Liquid Lip Velvets. I love that they feel barely-there on the lips, whilst being moisturising and also long wearing. They’d make a great treat if you’re a fan of Chantecaille products. I have shades –

  • Jerry – a nude pink
  • Carmen – a true deep red

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, the Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick in Wild Strawberry (£17.50 at Selfridges) is perfect if you’re looking for a nourishing lip product with just a hint of colour. The formula contains mango and shea butters to keep lips feeling comfortably soft and smooth, and the Crayola theme is really fun and playful.

Back to liquid lipsticks now, the LA Splash Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks (£9.95 at Beauty Bay) have been a long time favourite of mine. I picked some up direct from LA Splash in the US a while ago now, and I was beyond impressed with how well they lasted on my lips.

Their Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick collection is inspired by desserts, and comes in a range of muted, neutral shades. The formula is full coverage, and completely transfer proof, and it’s also worth mentioning that you don’t want to apply this too thickly, as I’ve found it wears off the lips quicker if it’s applied too generously. I have shades –

  • Dark Mocha Mousse – a light warm brown.
  • Buttermilk Cheesecake – a natural nude with pink undertones.
  • Macaroon –  a deep rosy pink.

The Ciate London Pretty Stix Lipstick (£16.00 at Lookfantastic) is another new product that’s now a favourite of mine. This is more along the lines of a sheer lipstick, offering a moisturising formula which combines Brazilian Murumuru butter and Amino Acid to give the soothing and conditioning properties of a balm, combined with the pigmentation of a lipstick. I love that the Pretty Stix make my lips feel so smooth and moisturised. I’ve been wearing Vintage Blush quite a lot this week!

  • Vintage Blush – a light coral nude
  • Romcom – a bright magenta
  • Heartbreaker – a deep purple

Next we have the brand new Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks (£19.00 at Smashbox) – it’s been quite a while since I’ve used Smashbox products so I wasn’t too sure what to expect with these, but the Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks are some of the most highly pigmented lip products I’ve ever tried – I was so impressed!

They promise to stay put for up to 8 hours, and contain Advanced Polymer Technology and Primer Oil Complex to give a super smooth, intensely pigmented, budge-proof finish. I have shades –

  • Let’s Dance – a bright purple toned magenta
  • Shockaholic – a super bright magenta pink
  • Big Spender – an intense rose pink

For those looking for a budget product, I always recommend checking out Sleek Cosmetics. The Sleek Cosmetics Matte Lip Cream (£4.99 at Superdrug) is a great product for less than a fiver, and they’ve now brought out a selection of fun and bright pastel shades for spring. The formula isn’t the most pigmented in the world, but it’s decent enough to give good coverage with a couple of swipes, and it lasts for a good few hours before you need to think about touching up. Overall this is a great budget product. I have shades –

  • French Fancy – a pretty mid cool toned pink
  • Crushed Lavender – a light lavender purple
  • Apricot Blooms – a light coral-apricot

If you’re not a fan of liquid lipsticks, the new Makeup Forever Artist Acrylip Glosses (£17.50 at Debenhams) could be right up your street. Inspired by bold, high-pigment artist acrylic paints, the MUFE Artist Acrylips give lips the most intense, glossy color with just one swipe. I really love the smoothness of the formula, as well as the amazing pigmentation. I should reiterate that these are glosses and do not dry down or set in any way shape or form – but they also don’t move around the mouth at all which is great news. I have shades –

  • 202 Coral Pink – an intense petal pink
  • 400 Iconic Red – an intense true red
  • 600 Dark Purple – a deep aubergine purple

And the Pixi Beauty GelTint & SilkGloss (£14.00 at ASOS) – Pixi is one of my favourite beauty brands, and I love that their products are always so interesting and innovative. This double ended tint and gloss is just a fantastic idea that I’ve never seem before. One end contains a gel formula lip stain, and the other holds a glossy top coat.

And lastly, MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick (£17.50 at Selfridges) – this collection includes some really beautiful shades, and I was drawn to ‘So Me’ which has a real 90’s vibe about it. I’m not actually a fan of MAC’s original Retro Matte Lipsticks as I find them to be incredibly drying, so I was interested to see how the liquid version fared. Well I have to say I was impressed! As expected the formula was richly pigmented, but it was also pleasant to wear and lasted all day. I definitely want to pick up some more shades now!

I’d love to hear which lip products you’ve been loving lately?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

New In Beauty: Products Worth Checking Out!

Posted on September 13, 2016

new-in-beauty-products-worth-checking-out

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

loccitane-candle

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

clarins-lancome-pur

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

sleek

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

chantecaille-espa

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

loreal-french-girl-body-shop-tea-tree

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

soap-and-glory

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

erborian-w7-kiehls-new

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

New In Beauty: Cover FX / Ciate / Urban Decay / Sleek Makeup & More!

new-in-beauty-summer-2016-review

Hi Guys!

There are so many fabulous new beauty launches around at the moment that are either available now, or launching very soon, so I thought I’d put a round up post together of some MUST HAVE makeup products you need in your life this summer – enjoy!

cover-fx-custom-enhancer-drops-review

You must have heard of Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops by now? This is easily THE product of Summer 2016. These liquid illuminators are EVERYTHING and I promise that you need at least one of them in your life. The Custom Enhancer Drops come in six shades, and have the most highly reflective, almost metallic formula – and they can be used pretty much anywhere and anyhow you like. I have the shade Candlelight which is a gorgeous warm bronze – perfect for adding to your foundation to enhance the colour for the summer, or wearing as it is on tanned skin for a lovely healthy glow. The range includes lighter shades too, which would make the most amazing highlighters! You can buy these on back order now for £34.00 at Space NK.

ciate-pretty-palette-review

The Ciate London Pretty Eyeshadow Palette (£29.00 at Ciate) could easily be my go-to palette for the whole of the summer. This compact little palette contains nine relatively large eyeshadows in a range understated, glamorous shades, in both shimmer and matte finishes.

Each shade is infused with Ciate’s Double Dose™, a finely-milled pigment that’s formulated to blend effortlessly. Its touchable, molten powder texture delivers one-swipe, vivid colour pay-off for high-impact, advanced wear, and the colours in this palette work perfectly well to take your look from day to night – this is definitely a makeup bag staple for me.

Smith-&-Cult-The-Tainted-Lip-Stained-review

Next the Smith & Cult The Tainted Lip Stained (£20.00 at Net-a-Porter) – this is like no other lip product I’ve tried – the formula reacts to the pH in your lips to bring out a subtle tint of colour – which is definitely subtle but noticeable. Unlike traditional stains, this rich balm is definitely more like a gloss, giving lips a lovely shine whilst boosting moisture levels. The Tainted Lip Stained’s are available in two shades –

  • Linger Sigh – a nude baby pink.
  • Sweet Suite – a watermelon pink.

true-brit-london-nail-polishes

On to nails now, True Brit London Nail Polish (£12.95 at True Brit London) have launched a brand new collection of polishes – the Garden Party range is inspired by the floral bloom colours seen on the catwalks, transporting you into a world of colour. The new collection also includes a fresh range of nude shades, including copper metallics and earthy, warm hues.

  • Apples & Pears – a mint green cream with tiny silver flecks.
  • Street Party – a bright barbie pink cream with tiny silver flecks.

palmers-flip-balm-lip-balm-review

And you’ve probably heard about these by now too – Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Flip Balms (£4.99 at Superdrug) come in three gorgeous flavours – Juicy Watermelon, Creamy Coconut and Ripe Mango. Being someone with chronically dry lips, I tend to get quite excited when a new balm is released! The Flip Balms are made from pure Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E to soften and soothe dry lips, whilst delivering incredible, long-lasting moisture. I’ve used Juicy Watermelon a few times and I have to say it really is a fantastic lip balm!

urban-decay-vice-lipsticks-review

And of course the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks (£15.00 from Urban Decay) – the new range of Vice Lipsticks comes in a massive lineup of 100 shades, with six different finishes –

  • Metallized – cream with a pearl ‘metallic’ finish.
  • Cream – original creamy formula.
  • Sheer – a punch of colour with a sheer, shiny finish.
  • Sheer Shimmer – slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture.
  • Comfort Matte – creamy matte.
  • Mega Matte – super intense matte.

These are the ones I have above –

  • Pandemonium (mega matte) – an intense royal purple.
  • Big Bang (metallized) – a bright barbie pink with glitter flecks.
  • Backtalk (comfort matte) – a creamy nude pink.
  • Firebird (cream) – an intense deep fuchsia.
  • 714 (mega matte) – a bright tomato red.

There are both new shades as well as cult favourites included in the collection. Urban Decay have also included plenty of nourishing ingredients in their Vice formulas, to make sure they’re as comfortable to wear as possible. I’m most definitely in love with Backtalk, both for the colour as well as the formula – I think I may have to snap up some more of the Comfort Mattes now!

Sleek-MakeUP-Power-Plump-Lip-Crayons-review

And lastly, the Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayons (£5.50 at Sleek Makeup) – these innocent looking lip crayons aim to magically plump up your pout with a buzzy, tingling sensation – much like the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Glosses. The sensation is quite prickly, and quite a surprise if you’re not prepared for it! The crayons give a pigmented pop of colour whilst enhancing the appearance of your lips, helping them to appear fuller and more luscious.

  • Raving Rouge – bright true red.
  • Fully Fuchsia – bright blue toned pink.
  • Power Pink – mid pink.
  • Colossal Coral – light orange-coral.
  • Notorious Nude – warm nude beige.
  • Berry Burst – mid mauve.

Now you may have noticed I haven’t included any swatches in this post, well it turned out to be quite a long post in the end so I decided not to include swatches – but if you’d like to see swatches of anything at all (not just in this post) please do tweet me at tsncblog, or contact me on Snapchat (also tsncblog) or leave a comment below, and I will be more than happy to oblige 🙂

Sleek Makeup Whimsical Wonderland Collection & New Matte Me Lip Shades #SleekWhimsical

Posted on June 2, 2016

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection

Hi Guys!

One of my favourite budget beauty brands is back on the blog today, with a whole new range of products! Sleek Makeup have just launched their limited edition Whimsical Wonderland collection, containing candy coloured lipsticks, brand new cheek stains and a pretty pastel toned eyeshadow palette – and in complete contrast they’ve also released six new deep mauve and wine shades of their Matte Me lipsticks…

Roll Up! Roll Up! Welcome to a Whimsical Wonderland of fun-filled fairground rides, candy floss and pastel prettiness! Our new limited edition Whimsical Wonderland collection takes a leap into the punchy pleasures of pastels and exciting summer hues. Try a quirky twist on vibrant eyeshadow, glisten pretty with shades for your cheeks and lips.

Stating with the All The Fun of the Fair i-Divine Palette – this palette has the same slim casing and 12 circular pans as the rest of the i-Divine collection palettes. The All The fun of the Fair palette contains a selection of pretty, summery pastel shades in both matte and shimmer finishes.

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection-lipsticks

I’m completely in love with Sleek’s VIP Lipstick formula – it’s easily one of the best on the highstreet, and also one of my favourite budget lipsticks. The Whimsical Wonderland collection features three new Lip VIP Lipstick shades –

  • Big Shot – a bright warm coral peach.
  • Hottie Tottie – an intense coral toned pink.
  • Fancy Pants – a bright cool toned lilac.

Following the theme of the collection, these shades are bold, bright and fun. The formula is creamy and comfortable and the colour payoff is just amazing. The finish of the VIP Lipsticks is a velvety demi-matte, and the soft, creamy formula feels wonderful on the lips. These lipsticks are definitely a must have for fans of a bold and daring lip!

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection-sweet-cheeks-review

Sleek have also introduced a brand now product with this collection – the Sweet Cheeks cheek stains. They have included three new Sweet Cheeks cheek colours which correspond with the above three VIP Lip shades –

  • Hullabaloo – intense pink.
  • Lickety Split – coral / orange.
  • Tomfoolery – violet toned fuchsia.

I must admit, the Sweet Cheeks stains do look a bit bright and intimidating on first glance, but you’ll be pleased to hear that the product has a silky and almost gel like formula, which applies quite sheerly for a flush of colour across the cheeks.

Sleek-Makeup-new-matte-me-lip-shades

And lastly the new Matte Me Lipsticks are just gorgeous! Matte lipsticks are everywhere at the moment, and Sleek’s offering definitely shouldn’t be overlooked – these six gorgeous shades range from mid pinks to deep reds and mauves – quite a contrast to the Whimsical Wonderland collection. Though some of these shades are on the darker side, they’re all completely wearable – I particularly love Velvet Slipper and Shabby Chic, which is the perfect my lips but better shade. The formula is slightly drying on the lips over time, but that’s to be expected with a matte liquid lipstick. These are really long lasting, and are definitely worth their £4.99 price tag.

  • Vino Tinto – a deep mauve wine.
  • Velvet Slipper – a mid mauve pink.
  • Bittersweet – a light peachy pink.
  • Shabby Chic – a light muted pink.
  • Fired Up – a true bright red.
  • Old Hollywood – a darker classic red.

Sleek-Makeup-Whimsical-Wonderland-Collection-review

Overall this is another fab collection of products from Sleek, and as ever both their VIP and Matte Me lipsticks really are fantastic – a definite must-try if you’re on the hunt for some new budget lippies.

The Whimsical Wonderland collection is available now from Sleek Makeup.

The Weekly Top 5 #18

Posted on September 23, 2015

the-weekly-top-5-no-18_edited-1

Hi Guys!

Ok, I know this is technically my Sunday post that’s kind of a bit late (well three days late) but my excuse is that things have been really hectic over the past few weeks, so I’m playing catch up with everything at the moment. If only there were about six more hours in the day I’d be happy!

Well not much has been going on for me lately except work really! Fred has finally settled into school now, which is a relief. I hated leaving him there upset for the first few days. And in other news I’m off to London tomorrow for some meetings and an event, yay! I’m also hoping to plan a weekend away for the family before Christmas, so if you can recommend anywhere family friendly for me please do let me know!

Here’s this last weeks top 5 –

Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Creme (£47.00) – it’s been quite a while since I’ve tried anything from Ole Henriksen, so I was excited when Escentual asked if I fancied trying their new Invigorating Night Creme out. This luxuriously thick cream promises to re-texturise and renew your complexion overnight by balancing and brightening your skin while you sleep. The formula includes glycolic, lactic and fruit acids to deeply penetrate the epidermis, encouraging cell renewal to reveal smoother skin. As well as their Fruit Acid Complex, which is a concentrated cocktail of bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange and lemon to lightly exfoliate the skin’s surface, breaking down the bonds of dead skin cells and boosting elasticity of the skin’s surface. This Night Creme is super hydrating, and as expected it smells gorgeous too. Since I’ve started using it I’ve been waking up with fresh feeling skin every morning 🙂

Rocket Dog Stassi Saloon Boots (£59.99) – I LOVE ankle boots for Autumn, and these Stassi Boots from Rocket Dog just fit the bill for me. They’re in a pull on style, with tassel detailing on the sides and a mid-height western heel. They’re really comfortable – as I can’t actually walk in heels higher than this – and can easily be dressed up or down.

Sleek Creme To Powder Blush in Pink Peony (£5.99) – I love creme blushers, and this new offering from Sleek (one of my favourite drugstore brands) is no exception. The creme to powder formula is a beauty to blend out, whilst giving a really pretty satin finish. Pink Peony could be described as a slightly scary shade, just because it looks so intense in the pan. In reality though, with a light hand this gives a beautiful flush of colour that’s perfect to brighten any complexion for the cold season.

Arquiste – The Architect’s Club Fragrance (£135.00) – Ok I know it’s crazy expensive, but this perfume is just beautiful. I’ve just received my mini sample as part of Bloom Perfumery’s fragrance sample subscription and this is definitely one of my favourite fragrances I’ve received so far. With notes of juniper, oakwood, bigrade orange, lemon peel, amber, vanilla, angelica root and gaiac wood, this is an intense, unusual and beautiful seasonal scent.

This weeks TV of choice isn’t actually on Netflix surprisingly. The Following, on freeview channel Pick was kindly recorded for me by my other half, without me knowing. He thought it was my type of thing, and he was spot on! The Following, stars Kevin Bacon as Ryan Harding, an agent with the job of chasing down a psychotic serial-killer’s cult following. It’s a fantastic series!

In case you missed it – this little beauty is still up for grabs! This is a customised palette by Neve Cosmetics, made by yours truly. You’ll be amazed at the swatches too. Take a look and enter the giveaway here.

Current covets –

This is a new section I’ve decided to add to my weekly post, just to let you know which products I’m currently lusting after. This week I’ve had my eye on the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo. At £68.00 it’s definitely on the expensive side, and unfortunately I can’t justify buying it at the moment – boo! Take a look at some swatches online though and you’ll see how pretty it is!

Other things worth mentioning – And lastly, if you have a moment please take the time to check out the video below, yes it’s an advert, but it has a really important message that I think will resonate with most of us.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Glossybox March | Review

Posted on March 19, 2015

glossybox-march-review

Hi Guys!

I feel a bit like I’ve got beauty boxes coming out of my ears at the moment! The latest Glossybox has just arrived and it’s a really good one! With six full size and generous sample sized items covering hair, skincare and makeup, March’s box is looking like one of the best yet…

So what’s inside the box?

  • Naobay Moisturising Peeling, 100ml worth £13.71.
  • Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara, full size worth £3.30.
  • Dove Advanced Hair Youthful Vitality Shampoo & Conditioner, 50ml each worth £1.20 each.
  • ncLA Nail Lacquer in I Only Fly Private, full size worth £10.83.
  • Sleek Makeup Pout Paint in Port, full size worth £4.99.

Total value = £35.23.

Ok so it’s not the highest value, but on first glance this isn’t a bad little box at all! I’ll start with the Naobay Moisturising Peeling. This is the strangest product name, surely it should say … Mask or Cream or something at the end!? Anyway, this is in fact an ‘organic peeling milk’ which includes particles from the acai tree to remove dulling dead skin cells and brighten the complexion. This sounds exactly what my skin needs right now, since I’ve been ill my skin has just become so lifeless and dull I’ll soon be resembling a corpse, so fingers crossed this will work! (review to come)

Next is the Essence Mascara. I’ve heard of Essence before and understand it’s a budget brand that’s available in Wilko. I’m not based near a store so haven’t had a chance to try out their products before. I have to say the Lash Princess Mascara does look kinda cheap – well it is only £3.30! And the makeup snob in me is telling me it’s not going to be much cop, but I’ve been wearing the mascara for a few hours now and it’s actually not that bad. It’s not as lengthening on my short lashes as I’d like but it’s ok if you’re looking for volume rather than length.

Moving on we have the Dove Advanced Hair Youthful Vitality Shampoo and Conditioner. I haven’t used Dove hair products for years, so I’m welcoming the re-introduction to the brand. These products are specifically aimed at ageing hair (I’m coming up 31, does that count??) They’re supposed to repair brittle hair and replenish lost nutrients to leave hair looking ‘twice as thick’ These are bold words, Dove! I have super fine hair so I’ll be trying these out in the coming weeks – this is another one I’ll have to report back on!

The ncLA Nail Lacquer is up next, and I personally do not find this product visual appealing. The bottle looks very cheap – but it’s in fact $16! I do like the colour of the polish, as you know I’m all about the brights! ncLA is a US based company that sells nail products only, so you’d think that as this is their specialism then the products should be pretty decent, and it actually is. You just need two coats for full opaque coverage, I can’t comment on the longevity yet but so far so good!

And lastly the Sleek Pout Paint. I’m already a big fan of Sleek cosmetics and I’ve previously reviewed their Pout Paint in Pinkini. The pigmentation is fanastic, but I do find the Pout Paints seep into the fine lines at the edges of my lips – you’ll see what I mean if you look at the Pinkini review. I think you’re good to go with this product as long as you use a decent lip liner with it 🙂

Overall this is a really good box, considering it’s only £10 to buy! I’d love to hear your thoughts? xxx

NEW Sleek Eye and Cheek Palettes!

Posted on November 19, 2014

sleek-eye-and-cheek-palette-review

Hi Guys!

Today I’ve got a couple of brand new Sleek Eye and Cheek Palettes to share with you, in See You At Midnight (above top left) and Dancing Till Dusk (bottom right). Both palettes have four eyeshadows and two blushers each, and two mini brushes. They come in Sleeks’ usual matte black casing with a handy integrated mirror.

Dancing Til Dusk includes velvety browns and shimmering fawns taken from the Au Naturel i-Divine palette. With radiant Blush shades Mirrored Pink, an iridescent soft pink and Sahara, a matte, dark coral, for a sophisticated finish.

See You at Midnight combines deep blue and pearlescent purple eyeshadows taken from the Romance i-Divine Palette. Along with Blush in Pomegranate, a golden berry hue and Antique a shimmery dusky rose, for a captivating look.

Dancing Til Dusk is probably my favourite palette out of the two as I think the shades suit my pale skin tone more than See You At Midnight. The only shade I was slightly disappointed with was the matte beige eyeshadow, which unfortunately didn’t have great colour payoff. All the other shades were fantastic though and I especially liked the pretty pink shimmer blush in Mirrored Pink which is a great colour for brightening a pale complexion like mine!

Dancilng Til Dusk (which was kindly sent to me by Beauty Product Testing) contains slightly more daring shades in terms of colour and finish. There are three dark shade eyeshadows here and every pan has a shimmer finish. I love the iridescence you can see on a couple of these shades, they are pretty intense though so they’d be excellent to use for an evening look with a nude lip.

Both of these palettes are really handy to throw in your bag when you’re on the go, they’re slimline and compact, and have a great range of shades to suit a variety of skin tones!

The Eye and Cheek Palettes can be purchased from Sleek for £9.99 each.

I’d love to hear what you think? I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx
