Valentine’s Gifts On A Budget

Posted on February 9, 2016

budget-valentines-gifts

Hi Guys!

Valentine’s day is just around the corner now, so I thought I’d put together a couple of posts to offer some inspiration to those looking for gift ideas. I’m starting off with some fantastic lower priced items. Everything in this post is what I’d call reasonably priced or budget friendly – and I’ll have my luxury gifts post coming up very shortly too.

So, what would Valentine’s day be without chocolates? Thorntons have a massive range of goodies on offer, including hampers, truffles and special chocolate selection boxes. I’ve been munching on the Classic Collection Box of late (well I had to try them!) and I just managed to save a few of these gorgeous chocs for my photo! You guys are in for a treat too, because I’m also giving away a gorgeous Thorntons Valentine’s Heart shaped selection box worth £25.00 on Twitter, make sure you follow and RT here to be in with a chance of winning! (Open to UK only, the winner will be chosen at 9pm on 12/02/16)

For the beauty lovers, you can never fail with Kiko products – I think I’m actually yet to come across something of theirs that I don’t like. As well as being very affordable, they often have offers on too so you can pick up some amazing bargains. Check out their sale for up to 50% off loads of gorgeous makeup products and sets, including the Temptress Lip Set shown above which is now only £5.40!

Flowers are often a must have for the big day, but what about rose scented beauty products as an alternative? They’re guaranteed to last longer than the lifespan of a bunch of flowers! The Melvita Nectar de Roses Body Collection is a gorgeous range of bath and body products including wild rose extract to aid hydration.

I have the Nectar de Roses Rose Petal Shower Gel (£13.00), which gives a beautiful light floral fragrance, the Nectar de Roses Hydrating Body Veil (£15.00), which is enriched with rose floral water to provide intense hydration for up to 24 hours. The Nectar de Roses Balm (£10.00) is a fantastic little multi-purpose balm that’s perfect for rescuing dry and damaged skin, and lastly the Wild Roses EDT (£36.00) which is a beautifully bright and fresh rose scent, combining rosa canina, rose gallica and rose mosqueta with a woody base.

Or for a different take on rose fragrances, Bronnley’s Zealous Flower EDT (£35.00) is definitely worth a look. This is the newest addition to their Electric Elements range, and completely different from Melvita’s Wild Roses. Bronnley’s Zealous Flower fragrance gives rose a more unconventional edge. It includes sparkling notes of pear and mandarin combined with pink pepper, precious amber and earthy vetiver.

For the nail polish lovers, what about a selection of very affordable Nailed London Nail Polishes? They’re only £6.99 each and are available in a massive range of 28 catwalk inspired shades, as well as four glitter polishes, and a top and base coat. They also boast a patented 3-step system, developed to match the look, feel, wear and gloss of a professional gel polish, whilst promising 2-3 days longer wear than any other gelled product on the market.

A personalised gift is always going to be a winner, and I highly recommend the Crowd colour Personalised Palette. This is an empty makeup palette, magnetised and ready for you to customise it with whichever pans you choose. The best part is that you can have whatever you want printed on top, I went for my blog header on mine!

On the subject of palettes, the Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes are definitely worth a mention. At only £7.99 for a palette of 12 eyeshadows, these palettes are a complete bargain, as well as being amazingly well pigmented. I’ve collected quite a few of these now but I most often find myself reaching for the Au Naturel shades. The one I’ve included in the image above is the brand new All Night Long palette, including a beautiful range of warm neutrals.

And lastly, for the candle fans there’s the Shearer Candles Tropical Watermelon Jar Candle (£8.00) – this gorgeous candle from Shearer Candles checks all the boxes for a Valentine’s gift, it’s pink, it’s pretty and it smells amazing! The Watermelon fragrance is fantastically sweet and mouth-wateringly juicy. It’s basically summer in a candle!

I’d love to hear if any of these products take your fancy? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Six Fab Beauty Products That Won’t Break The Bank…

Posted on January 31, 2016

boots-beauty-box

Hi Guys!

I was recently sent over a fantastic box of beauty products that are new in at Boots, and I had no idea what was going to turn up – which was very exciting. So when the box arrived it was great to find a mixture of brands, including one which I’ve never tried, and a couple that I haven’t tried for a good few years too…

Collection-#YourStyleYourMood-Eyeshadow-Palette

First up is the Collection #YourStyleYourMood Eyeshadow Palette (£5.99) – Now I haven’t used Collection products in a loooong time, I mean, the last time I remember using them was when they were called Collection 2000 and I was in my teens. So even though I’m not familiar with their current products, I know they’re still a popular budget brand, and they also used to be one of the go-to brands back in the day for teens where I live too!

This dinky little palette comes in a cardboard casing, with matte and shimmer shades. The idea is that whatever your mood the #YourStyleYourMood Palette allows you to create the perfect eye look to reflect your style – I’d say it includes a nice selection of neutral colours that would work well for day time or evening, but there’s nothing in there that’s too outrageous – which I would have expected by the #YourStyleYourMood name. Maybe one or two brighter colours would have been a nice addition?

Loreal-Paris-Super-Liner-Perfect-Slim-eyeliner

loreal-perfect-slim-eyeliner-pen

Next is the L’oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim (£6.99) – Now you know I do love a good eyeliner, and my weapon of choice is always a pencil or a pen version, so this is is right up my street. This Perfect Slim liner has a long, flexible nib, with a very fine point. It gives a fantastic intense black line, that’s easy to draw and define due to the long pointed nib. This is a fantastic eyeliner for creating a sharp cat-eye flick.

Eyelure-Party-Lashes-Frozen-Beauty

Next we have the Eyelure Party Lashes in Frozen Beauty (£6.95) – I don’t often wear lashes except for the odd night out (and I don’t get out that often these days!) but when I have worn lashes, Eyelure are my brand of choice. This is just because lashes are expensive, and rather than waste £5+ per set on something that I might not like, I know I can trust Eyelure to do the job.

These Frozen Beauty lashes feature a fluffy and full lash, interspersed with shimmering silver ribbon that catches the light beautifully. I love that Eyelure lashes are easy to apply and remove, and if you’re careful you can re-use them multiple times too.

Barry-M-Flawless-Chisel-Cheeks-Contour-Kit

Up next is the Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit (£6.49) – I’m so glad this was included in the box! I’ve been meaning to pick up a budget contour kit for ages, just out of curiosity as I always use my Anastasia palette and hadn’t tried any budget versions as yet.

The Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit is a handy little travel-sized palette, including a light powder to highlight, a bronzer to warm, and a dark powder to sculpt for a perfectly enhanced appearance. The shades are not too dark or intense – so perfect for those with paler complexions like myself, and the product can also be built up easily, so it would still work well if you were looking for a bit more depth of colour.

Sleek-Makeup-Precious-Metals-Highlighting-Palette

Next is the Sleek Makeup Precious Metals Highlighting Palette (£9.99) – I love Sleek Cosmetics, they’re one of my favourite, if not my actual favourite budget high street brand. They also keep coming up with gorgeous new products!

The Precious Metals Highlighting Palette is a fantastic versatile highlighting palette for use on both the face and body. It features three velvet cream highlighters and one powder highlighter which can be used in a multitude of ways to give skin a beautiful luminous glow.

These highlighters really do give the loveliest iridescent and metallic finishes, wether you’re looking for detailed highlight on the face, or an all-over body glow, this little kit will have the right highlight for you.

Nail-Apothecary-Gel-Effect-Top-Coat

And lastly, the Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat (£6.95) – Nail Apothecary is a brand new brand to me, that I hadn’t even heard of. They supply a range of nail care products, including various top coats, fillers and nail treatments. The Gel Effect Top Coat creates a plumping effect on the nails, giving a high shine, gel like look which is long lasting and chip resistant – a definite must have for fans of the DIY manicure!

boots-beauty-box-products

Well, I’m beyond impressed with this fab little selection of products, I haven’t used a couple of these brands for a while now and I’m so glad I’ve re-discovered them. I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products?

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

My Top 5 Budget Beauty Products Under £10.00

Posted on May 27, 2015

5-products-under-10-pounds

Hi Guys!

As you probably know by now, I do feature quite a lot of high end brands – and I should admit I’m a complete sucker for a fancy brand with pretty packaging. But what about high street cosmetics? There’s actually quite a few high street products that I use on a regular basis, so with that in mind I decided to rummage through my makeup bag and pick out my top 5 budget beauty buys under £10.00!

5-products-under-10-pounds-2

1. Seventeen Phwoarr Paint (£5.49) After using up my beloved Benefit Boi-ing Concealer which I feel like I’ve had for a lifetime, rather than forking out £17.50 for a new one, I asked the good people of Twitter for their recommendations for a budget alternative, and Seventeen’s Phwoarr Paint was suggested. At almost a third of the price of Benefit, I thought this was definitely worth a try, and it really is fantastic! This is a great highly pigmented creamy concealer that’s perfect for covering under eye dark circles – which is what I mostly use it for.

2. Sleek True Colour Lipsticks (£4.99) Sleek are officially my favourite budget lipstick brand, with my go-to shade being Liqueur, which is the perfect every day nude shade. I also love their fantastic selection of brights. The creamy yet highly pigmented finish is a fantastic dupe for MAC’s Amplified lipsticks, and at only £4.99 for a lippie, you’d be mad not to try them out!

3. Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner (£4.99) I can’t live without eyeliner, and I’ve tried a fair few in my time. I always end up going back to my trusty Contour Clubbing pencils though. My long-term favourite has to be Bleu Neon, an intense electric blue shade. I love that Bourjois have introduced a mass of different shades including blues, greens, purples and even a pink so you can experiment with eyeliner looks without breaking the bank.

4. Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette (£6.99) Makeup Revolution have really upped their game with their new Iconic 1 & 2 Eyeshadow Palettes, they have an updated and much improved eyeshadow formula which is just fantastic, and I’ve found myself going back to my Iconic 2 Palette time and time again. This palette contains the perfect selection of shades to take you from day to night, as well as a large mirror and ‘Pro‘ double ended brush for easy application. These eyeshadows are amazingly well pigmented as well as being easy to apply and blend.

5. Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara (£9.99) Yes another Bourjois product! Their relatively new 1 Seconde Mascara is surprisingly one of my favourite mascaras – I say surprisingly because I usually shy away from large mascara wands as my lashes are super short so I often end up making a mess! I love the formula of 1 Seconde though, it does wonders for my stumpy lashes giving length as well as volume, and long lasting curl. This will definitely be re-purchased once it runs out!

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear what your favourite budget beauty buys are? xxx

10 Lip Products To Try This Spring

Posted on May 19, 2015

ten-lip-products-to-try

Hi Guys!

I thought it was about time I gave you the lowdown on some gorgeous new lip products I’ve been trying out lately. I’ve actually put together a mixture of new releases as well as slightly older favourites here, included balms, glosses and lipsticks. There should be something here to suit all budgets, tastes and styles. Enjoy!

clarins-Instant-Light-Natural-Lip-Balm-Perfector

So let’s start with the balms! Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in 03 My Pink (£18.00) is the product that I’ve been using the most this week. I’ve been loving this so much since it arrived – this is a hydrating lip balm that gives a beautiful soft iridescence to the lips. I also love the casing on this balm, it’s weighty and feels expensive and well made. This is definitely a makeup bag staple for me.

sleek-pout-polish-lip-balm-review

If you don’t fancy splashing the cash this Sleek Pout Polish Lip Balm in 962 Frosting (£4.49) is a fantastic budget alternative. I love Sleek for lip products an this handy little pot acts as a balm as well as giving a tint of colour to the lips. Frosting is a gorgeous barbie pink shade which I love!

bourjois-aqua-laque-review

Then we have Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque Liquid Lipstick in 08 Babe Idole (£8.99) This is somewhere between a gloss and a balm in terms of how it feels on the lips. I’m in love with the new Aqua Laque formula, it’s super silky and smooth feeling, giving a dose of hydration as well as a decent pop of colour. It’s not the longest lasting product but it really does soften your lips – mine are usually dry, which is why I love this so much.

lancome-lip-lover-review

If you fancy trying out a new gloss, I highly recommend trying Lancome Lip Lover in 337 (£18.50) This is easily one of the best glosses I’ve ever used. It’s completely non-sticky, it feels silky and smooth and lasts longer than expected before you need to re-apply. The packaging is also rather special, you have to click a button to make the wand pop up, I love it!

too-faced-melted-metal-review

Moving on to the lipsticks, Too Faced Melted Metal Liquid Lipstick in Melted Metallic Tutu (£15) is fantastic if you’re looking for something a little different. I’m a big fan of the original Melted Lipsticks so I couldn’t wait to try out the new Melted Metals range. There are eight shades available and I have Tutu, which is a beautiful bright pink / coral shade. It has an amazing high shimmer, almost pearlised finish and lasts for a good few hours before you need to re-apply.

lancome-le-rouge-absolue-review

Every girl should own a red lipstick, and Lancome L’ Absoulu Rouge in 132 Caprice (£23.50) really is the most beautiful true red. It has a luxuriously creamy formula that’s long lasting and comfortable to wear, and because it’s a ‘true’ red (i.e. not pink or orange toned) it should suit all skin tones. The packaging is also super luxurious with a magnetic lid – I love the feel and click of a magnetic lid closing!

sleek-lipstick-review

If you’re a fan of intense lip shades, you should definitely check out Sleek True colour Lipstick in 773 Candy Cane (£4.99) Sleek is easily my favourite budget brand for lipsticks, and they have some gorgeous bright colours available that are perfect for summer. Candy Cane is an intense coral / red shade that’s definitely not for the faint hearted. The formula is spot on too, it’s creamy, easy to apply and lasts!

rmk-lipstick-review

For those that prefer a more subtle lip, RMK Irresistible Lips B lipstick in 02 (£19.00) would be the perfect choice. I’ve only recently started trying out RMK products and I’m loving everything I’ve managed to get my hands on so far! This Irresistble Lipstick is perfect for every day wear, giving a sheer slick of colour that feels creamy and hydrating.

laura-mercier-lip-paint-review

The Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Golden Peach (£22.00) has to be the most interesting product out of the bunch. This Paint Wash Lip colour actually feels (and this shade looks) more like a highlighter that a gloss! It has a high pigmented high shimmer finish that really is something special, and it feels amazingly silky to apply. I don’t actually think I’ve seen a lip product like this before!

bourjois-lip-crayon-review

And lastly the Bourjois ColorBoost Lip Crayon in 07 Proudly Naked (£7.99). Another winner from Bourjois, this Lip Crayon is another great product for every day wear, giving a sheer veil of colour and a satiny shine.

So there we have it! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Two NEW Sleek Eye & Cheek Palettes

Posted on April 6, 2015

sleek-eye-and-cheek-palettes-2015

Hi Guys!

I hope you didn’t stuff yourselves with too much chocolate this Easter? After demanding that my husband get me an egg when he told me he hadn’t bought me one ‘because they’re for kids’… we headed off to Freddy’s granddads for an Easter egg hunt and a nice walk in the countryside, then off to the supermarket to pick out a nice egg, oh but they’d all sold out. Great. Both large supermarkets had completely sold out of all the eggs. I mean what!? I told the other half to just buy me a bar of chocolate and be done with it, which he did. It’s not the same but I’m happy! I must finish it off today though so I can get back on the wagon tomorrow! 😀

Anyway, I’ve got two gorgeous new additions from Sleek Makeup to share with you today. You may remember the original two Eye & Cheek Palettes which were released last November – well Sleek have now brought out two more with some gorgeous new shades, and they’re definitely my favourites!

sleek-all-day-soiree

sleek-palette-all-day-soiree-review

I LOVE the look of the All Day Soiree Palette, it’s full of bright pink and coral shades that are just perfect for the coming warmer weather. The colours just make me think of holidays, sunshine and tans! The palette contains four eyeshadows and two cheek shades, but they can easily be mixed and matched and in my opinion they’re completely multi use. The coral eyeshadow would also make a fantastic blush, and the shimmer cheek colour is definitely more of a highlighter. All the shades whether shimmer or matte have fantastic pigmentation. This palette includes the Pettycoat Blush, Party Frock Bush and shadows from the Del Mar Vol 2 i-divine palette.

sleek-all-day-soiree-swatches

The lighter eyeshadows would be perfect for a wash of shimmer over the lids, with the pink blush giving a pop of colour to brighten the complexion.

sleek-a-midsummer's-dream

sleek-palette-a-midsummers-dream-review

The A Midsummer’s Dream Palette has a slightly darker theme, it would be perfect to create a smoky eye and a more intense look for an evening, whereas the All Day Soiree Palette definitely has more of a daytime vibe to it. It includes the Sunrise Blush and Suede Blush, and eyeshadow shades from theAu Naturel i-Divine Palette.

sleek-a-midsummer's-dream-swatches

The colours in this palette are just gorgeous, super highly pigmented and a dream to work with. Both cheek shades are pretty intense, but with a light hand they’re definitely easy to wear. I can see both of these palettes getting a lot of use from me in the coming months!

The Eye and Cheek Palettes are £9.99 each and will be available very shortly from Sleek.

Do you own any products from Sleek? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Cohorted March Beauty Box | Review

Posted on March 14, 2015

cohorted-march-beauty-box

Hi Guys!

It doesn’t seem like two minutes ago I was sharing the exciting news about Cohorted’s brand new beauty boxes, and here we are with their second offering! Unfortunately for some, all 300 of March’s boxes sold out in the blink of an eye so this one isn’t available for purchase any more (April’s will be shortly available though – details at the end of this post). Anyway the box arrived with me this morning and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! There are some fantastic brands in this months’ box, and this is what I received…

  • Too Faced Exotic Color Eye Shadow in Copper Peony – worth £15.00
  • Sleek Precious Metals Highlighter Palette – worth £9.99
  • Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment – worth £45.00
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – sample size worth £5.00

The total value is £74.99 – wow!

I should also mention that the lovely peeps at Cohorted have hidden a Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Eye shadow Palette in five of March’s Beauty Boxes. Let me know if you’re a lucky winner! Last month they included an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in five boxes, so I really hope this is going to be a regular monthly occurrence!

I’m super impressed with the products in this box, I already have the Sleek palette already, but a girl can never have enough palettes, right? This box contains some of my favourite ever brands, so let’s take a look at the products –

too-faced-copper-peony-eyeshadow-review too-faced-copper-peony-eyeshadow-swatch

Ok so I’ll admit, I’ve been so enamoured with Too Faced’s amazing palettes, I’d never really looked into their other eye products, such as their single eyeshadows. From looking at the Too Faced site I can see the Exotic Color shadows come in twelve different shades – but everyone will receive the same one in their Cohorted box. Copper Peony is a beautiful high shimmer copper shade, and I’m completely in love with this colour. It’s just so pretty, summery and will suit pretty much everyone. The formula is spot on too – as expected from Too Faced. It was so amazingly well pigmented and felt buttery soft to apply. I really love this shadow!

sleek-precious-minerals-palette-review

Next is the Sleek Precious Metals palette, I already have this so rather than repeat myself I’ll just link you to my review here 🙂

bare-minerals-night-treatment-review

The Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment is an interesting looking product. I’ve never come across a night treatment that wasn’t a cream, liquid or serum before, and I have to say the idea of putting powder on my face before going to bed feels quite odd! The Pure Transformation Night Treatment is worth a massive £45, and I know price shouldn’t indicate quality, but for that price you’d hope it would work! It’s supposed to transform and replenish your skin whilst you sleep, leaving you looking radiant in the morning. It’s also clinically proven to reduce the appearance of pores and deliver faster cell turnover leaving you with increased luminosity, and it instantly diffuses imperfections so your skin will look miraculously renewed. Now this all sounds rather fabulous, but does it actually work? I’ll start using it tonight so look out for my review in the coming weeks!

urban-decay-perversion-mascara-review

And last’y Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. I must admit as much as I love Urbad Decay, I was never bothered about trying this product because the Perversion Eyeliner Pencil really disagreed with my eyes. I love UD eyeliner pencils usually, but there was something in Perversion that irritated and made my eyes water like crazy, so the mascara of the same name never appealed to me. I know they’re completely different products but I was still put off! I’ve been wearing the Perversion Mascara for a couple of hours now and I’m happy to say my eyes are fine! I wouldn’t say I’m wowed by it but it’s a good little every day mascara.

This box really is such great value, it’s only £19.99 so to get £74.99 worth of products inside is amazing! Also, Cohorted have increased the size of the box slightly since last month, and added an integrated ribbon so it’s really east to re-use the box for other uses. As I mentioned previously, this box has sold out, but April’s will be available for pre order from 15/03/15 here. Make sure you snap one up quickly though as they’ll be sure to sell out super fast again!

Did you purchase one of these boxes? I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

My Top Picks For Valentine’s Bright Lips

Posted on February 12, 2015

bright-valentines-lips

Hi Guys!

Valentine’s day is nearly upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a gorgeous face of makeup and a bright statement lip? (Oh and preferably a nice meal, flowers, chocolates, perfume – I could go on…) You may have noticed that I love bold colours when it comes to lips so I thought I’d put together a little selection of some lovely lippies to inspire you…

1. Sleek Lip 4 Palette in Mardi Gras – £8.99 from Sleek Makeup

Sleek are one of my favourite budget beauty brands, and their lip products are some of the best around. Their 4 Lip Palette in Mardi Gras contains four amazingly bright lip shades – my personal favourite is the purple! It’s only £8.99 too which is a complete bargain!

2. Too Faced Melted Lipstick in melted Ruby – £19.00 at Debenhams

Too Faced’s Melted Lipsticks have to be one of my favourite ever lipstick formulas. With super high pigmentation these lipsticks appear perfectly opaque, and have the added bonus of not drying out the lips – and they also don’t transfer and last for literally hours on end. Too Faced now have quite a large shade range but I love Melted Ruby especially for a gorgeous perfect red Valentine’s lip.

3. Kiko Heartbreaker Makeup pouch and lip product set – £12.90 from Kiko Cosmetics

Kiko Cosmetics are offering a fantastic deal for Valentine’s day and beyond. Until 28th February you can purchase their exclusive Valentine’s Day Set for the bargain price of £12.90 (rather than £16.30) The set consists of –

  • A Heartbreaker mini makeup bag with a bright pink glossy finish.
  • A Smart Lipstick of your choice. This is a rich and nourishing lipstick with an instant and ultra silky glide. I have 912 which is a lovely intense pink shade.
  • A Smart Lip Pencil of your choice. This is a creamy and blendable lip pencil with an intense, high-coverage line. I have 706 which is the perfect partner for the lipstick!

4. NYX Matte Lipsticks in 08 Pure Red and 18 Bloody Mary – £6.00 from NYX Cosmetics

I do love a matte lip, especially in bright colours, so at only £6.00 these NYX lippies will do the job without breaking the bank. Bloody Mary is a bright slightly pink toned red which will easily suit any skin tone, and Pure Red is a super bright slightly orange toned red, which is great for a more daring look!

5. MAC Lipstick in Impassioned – £15.50 from MAC Cosmetics

And of course, this wouldn’t be a lipstick post with out at least one MAC would it!? Impassioned is a lovely fuchsia shade with a super opaque and creamy Amplified finish that doesn’t make lips dry or uncomfortable in any way. I love this colour and could easily wear this lipstick every day.

Are you a fan of bright lipstick? I’d love to hear your favourites!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
