New In Beauty: Products Worth Checking Out!

Posted on September 13, 2016

Hi Guys!

There have been so many fantastic beauty launches recently, I thought I’d put a post together to show you some of my favourites that are definitely worth checking out. There’s a mixture of high end as well as affordable products here, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Get your wish lists at the ready!

Ok so let’s start with the L’Occitane La Flamme Candle (£8.00 at L’Occitane) – this just ticks all the boxes for me. You may know by now that I have a slight candle obsession, and this one smells lovely, with a delicate citrus scent, it’s also very affordable and on top of that 100% of the profits go to charity.

The limited edition La Flamme Candle has been developed in an exclusive partnership with Marie Claire in order to raise funds for the education of girls and young women in developing countries. 100% of the profits will be donated to selected charities supporting girls’ schools and education projects in Cambodia, Uganda, Sierre Leone and Burkina Faso – this is a must have!

Next, a couple of new products from one of my favourite beauty brands, Clarins. I love Clarins lips products and their Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (18.00) and Daily Energiser Lip Balm (£18.00, both at John Lewis) are just gorgeous every-day products.

The Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors now come in three new shades – Pink Shimmer, Orange Shimmer and Red Shimmer – giving lips an instant plump, glossy shine which nourishes and prevents dehydration. And the Daily Energiser Lip Balm offers 8 hours of hydration whilst smoothing and plumping – it also subtly enhances the colour of your lips.

Another favourite brand of mine, Lancome have recently launched their Grandiose Liner (£23.00) and Extreme Mascara (£25.00) both at House of Fraser.

The Grandiôse Liner is a truly innovative product offering a bendable wand which you can angle pretty much however you like, to help you get right into the base of the lashes and create the perfect line. It also has an ultra fine tip for creating a super sharp cat-eye, and the product formula has a long-lasting, smudge-resistant matte finish. The Grandiôse Extrême Mascara also features a ‘Swan-Neck’ wand and high-precision brush which grabs lashes close to the roots to beautifully fan them out on application. Grandiose Extreme gives extreme volume and an ultra intense longwear look for up to 24 hours.

And the Pur Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation (£28.00 at Beauty Bay) – I actually have a fantastic powder compact from Pur which I’ve been using for a long time, so I was excited to try out their latest foundation offering. The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation utilises a unique Water Complex which combines water sourced from the Swiss Alps to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin with intense hydration. The formula is thin and watery, feeling lightweight on the skin and giving light to medium coverage. Those with dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for a lightweight base should definitely check this out.

Colour correcting products are everywhere at the moment, and this Sleek Colour Corrector Palette (£7.99 at Boots) is a fantastic budget option. It contains six easy-to-blend colour correctors to minimise skin imperfections and counteract discolouration, leaving you with an even base for flawless foundation application.

And if you’re looking for some new lip balms on the cheap, this I Heart Makeup I Heart My Lips Set (£10.00 at Tam Beauty) could be right up your street. The set includes five pill shaped balms in an assortment of flavours for only £10.00 – so there’s one for your bag, your desk, your car… you get the idea!

On the subject of lip balms, the ESPA Nourishing Lip Treatment (£19.00 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re looking for something a little more intensive. This nourishing Lip Treatment is packed with active ingredients to instantly smooth and soften the lips, whilst adding a hint of gloss. My dry lips have been loving this lately!

While we’re talking about lips, if you’re looking to treat yourself, personally I think you can’t beat a lipstick. And if you’re feeling pretty flush, a Chantecaille Lipstick (£30.00 at Space NK) is definitely worth the money – this lipstick is smooth and comfortable, and the formula is enriched with vitamins A and C and emollient amino acids for a super luxurious feel on the lips.

On to hair now – L’Oreal Professional have a couple of new styling products, in the form of French Froisse Texture Definition Cream, and Messy Cliche Texture Definition Spray (£11.95 each at HQ Hair). So basically the cream is for thick hair, and the spray is for fine hair, and they both pretty much do the same thing, giving you tousled, textured lengths with natural shine.

And not forgetting The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash scrub mask (£8.00 at The Body Shop) – this is a multi-use 3-in-1 product which can be used as a wash to remove excess oil, a scrub to exfoliate and unclog pores, or a mask to combat blemishes and tighten pores. I love multi-tasking products and I know this will definitely get a lot of use in my household.

Soap and Glory are alway coming up with gorgeous new products, and their latest The Righteous Butter Diamond Edition (£8.00 at Soap & Glory) is a must have for S&G fans! This is basically a re-vamped edition of their famous Righteous Butter, with added pearlescent shimmer, mica powders and real diamond dust!

Next we have the Erborian Liquid BB Creme Au Ginseng ($48.00 at Sephora) – I love a cushion foundation and Erborian’s Liquid BB Cream is a fantastic compact. It contains Ginseng, known in Korea for its smoothing properties and gives lightweight, sheer coverage to help even out skin tone, leaving the complexion feeling fresh and moisturised.

I also love the new W7 Shade & Swap (£4.95 at W7) – this handy little pot instantly cleans your makeup brushes so you can swap between colours quickly and easily. Just sweep your brush over the sponge a couple of times and Bob’s your uncle!

Kiehls is another favourite skincare brand of mine, and their MTV Staying Alive Ultra Facial Cream (£43.50 at John Lewis) is definitely worth picking up if you’re in need of a new moisturiser. This Limited edition Ultra Facial Cream continuously replenishes moisture throughout the day, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. And for each pot sold, Kiehl’s will give £10.00 to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support 3 projects around the world to empower young women.

Well there we have it, I hope you found this post useful – please do let me know if you have any of these products, I’d love to hear your thoughts! xxx

10 Products You Need in your Bathroom! Soap & Glory / Estee Lauder / Melvita & More!

Posted on June 27, 2016

Hi Guys!

Summer is now upon us… well kind of. And I’ve decided it’s about time I have a clear out in my bathroom – out with the old and in with the fresh and new! I’m terrible for keeping hold of old products with just a bit left at the bottom, promising myself I will use them up properly before I bin them. It never happens though and I just end up with a bathroom full of mostly empty bottles. Tell me I’m not the only person that does this!

Anyway, I’ve been having a clear out and I thought I’d talk you through some of my latest bathroom additions…

I was so excited when these fabulous new Shower Jellies from Soap & Glory arrived unexpectedly (£5.50 each at Boots) – I’d never even heard of let alone tried a shower jelly before, so I couldn’t wait to see what these were like. The jellies have a juicy gel like texture that quickly melts on wet skin, giving a lovely sudsy lather. They come in two mouth-wateringly juicy scented options too – Sweet Lime, and Pink Rose & Bergamot, both which also feature Soap & Glory’s Coolcapsuel-Smooth™ cooling technology.

Next, a few body care products –

The Melvita L’Or Rose Refining Scrub (£15.00 from Melvita) combines Pink Berries and Rose Muscat Oil to exfoliate the skin, and it has a gel texture that transforms into a lovely rich cream on contact, leaving a delicate scent on the skin after use. I’ve just started using this and it has a surprisingly fresh and zingy scent, and I love that it leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth.

And the L’Or Rose Firming Oil (£28.00 also from Melvita) has the same zingy scent as the Refining Scrub. This oil combines Berries with Sea Buckthorn and promises to help visibly reduce the orange peel effect.

Though I’m sceptical that this will actually firm and make any physical difference to my skin, I’ve used it a couple of times already and it does make my skin feel lovely. It’s also worth mentioning that this product has been awarded ‘Best Slimming Product’ by Madame Figaro Magazine’s Beauté Stars Competition – time will tell if it works for me though.

Another body wash I’ve just started using is the Burts Bees Extra Energising Body Wash (£9.99 from Naturisimo) – I’m a big fan of energising scents when it comes to shower products, and this body wash contains Essential Citrus Oils and Ginger Root Extract to energise your skin as well as your senses, perfect for a morning wake me up shower.

And the Limited Edition Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Exfoliating Body Cleanser (£30.00 at Boots) is a must have for a spot of luxury in the bathroom. I was a complete Bronze Goddess virgin until trying this product, and now I know why everybody raves about both the fragrance and the range! This product not only smells divine, but it does a fantastic job of exfoliating and smoothing, leaving my skin looking fresh and healthy. I really don’t think this massive tube will last me very long!

And lastly, tanning. When it comes to fake tan, I’m more of a special occasion tanner – I just don’t have the time for regular tanning and waiting for it to dry – so I look for products that are quick, easy to use and effective.

I have the He-Shi Day to Day Gradual Tan (£11.99 from Ideal World) – this product is perfect for gradually building a light tan for those with fair to medium skin tones – so it sounds perfect for me. The formula contains Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and Pro Vitamin B5 for rehydrating skin whilst including a subtle element of self-tan. The triple action lotion promises to absorb easily and help even out your natural skin tone, and it can also be used to maintain an existing tan by using between self-tan applications.

And the Vita Liberata Body Blur (£29.95 at Boots) which technically falls under the category of makeup rather than skincare, but this is all-over body makeup, which I would definitely keep in my bathroom so I’m including it here!

Vita Liberata’s Body Blur Instant Skin Finish is an instant HD body makeup that perfects skin by masking blemishes and reflecting light. I’ve only used this once so far but I love that it gives a natural looking tint and washes off when you shower.

And the Vita Liberata Illuminating Skin Finish Gold (£29.95 at Birchbox) – following on from the Body Blur, the Skin Finish is basically like a body highlighter, giving skin a lovely subtle highlighted sheen, perfect for using after the Body Blur for a night on the town.

And lastly the Zhuzhu Tan Accellerator (£15.99 at Ideal World) rather than a fake tan as such, this product is formulated and designed to stimulate the melanin in your skin whenever you are exposed to the sun, to speed up the natural tanning process.  It is a lightweight spray on formula that’s easy to rub in, leaving your skin moisturised without any stickiness. So I’ll just need to wait for some sunshine to see if this actually works!

Not that I need any more products in my bathroom now, but I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations for bath and body products that I should try? 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Going Nude With Soap And Glory!

Posted on June 16, 2016

Hi Guys!

I’m a massive Soap & Glory fan, and I’m always excited when they bring new products out – well they’ve just introduced 24 brand new Sexy Mother Pucker Lipsticks to their range! The lipsticks have been separated into three categories: Reds, Pinks and Nudes,  with eight lipsticks in each group. The lipsticks also come in three different finishes, including Powder-Coat Matte, Silk-Coat Satin and Glass-Coat High Shine, so there really is something for everyone…

The creamy formula boasts hydra-boosting Moisture Wrap Technology to keep lips conditioned, in three finishes –

Matte – These were not as flat a matte as I was expecting, if you know what I mean! This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though as they wern’t too drying on the lips either. The matte shades are highly pigmented and have a very slight sheen finish.

Satin – One of my favourite finishes, the satins have the best of both worlds giving great colour payoff with the comfort of a shine, leaving a smooth satiny finish on the lips.

Shine – The one shine shade I have isn’t quite as glossy as I was expecting, it’s more of a shinier satin, offering pretty, sheer colour payoff.

Shades from left to right –

  • Nude edition (satin) – light peach toned nude.
  • 5th Avenue (matte) – light nude pink.
  • Naked Talent (satin) – mid coral toned nude.
  • Barely Pinking (shine) – mid nude pink.
  • Cinnamon Beige (matte) – mid mauve brown nude.

After trying all of these lipsticks, I’ve been really struggling to decide on a favourite. I think if you pushed me I’d have to say Barely Pinking though, as the shade suits my skin tone, and the formula feels wonderfully smooth and silky to wear.

Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Nude Lipsticks are £9.00 each, but are currently on offer online only for £7.00 at Boots.

Soap and Glory Christmas Gifts!

Posted on December 4, 2015

Hi Guys!

Soap and Glory have (probably) a record breaking amount of gift sets available this Christmas, there’s well over 60 gift-y products and sets to choose from which is just amazing – talk about spoiled for choice! So wether you’re looking for skincare, bath products or makeup to gift this Christmas, Soap and Glory easily have you covered. I’ve included a few of my favourite picks below…

Let’s start with the Crazy Sexy Kohl Set (£14.00) – For those that instantly think of TLC’s Crazy Sexy Cool album from ’94 – we’re on the same wavelength. And for those that don’t have a clue what I’m talking about – don’t worry, you’re too young! 😀 Described as the ultimate eyeliner pencil box, Soap & Glory’s Crazy Sexy Kohl set includes five glide-on Smoulder Kohl Waterproof Eyeliner pencils. The shades included are Superblack and Cocoa Bean from the standard range, plus three exclusively-for-Christmas colour shades: Blue My Mind, Grapevine and Aquabat. Blue My Mind is the most gorgeous intense blue colour, I love it!

Next is the amazing Soaprise Gift Set (£16.00) – This super set consists of six christmas crackers containing the entire posse of Soap and Glory body washes in all their signature scents. Products include Clean on Me (rose and bergamot), Sugar Crush (smashed brown sugar and sweet lime), Rich & Foamous (almond and sweet vanilla), Foam Call (yuzu fruit and wild fig), Clean Girls (freesia, cassis and vanilla) and Orangeasm (green orange and bergamot). All come in in handy travel sizes, and each cracker also contains a party crown (of course), plus some fun words of Soap & Glory wisdom – rather than cheesy jokes!

Next is the fabulous In The Bag Set (£18.00) – This is a large pink toiletry bag stuffed with six mini sized Soap and Glory goodies! It includes the award-winning Clean on Me Moisture Shower Gel, Heel Genius Foot Cream, Hand food Hand Cream, The Scrub of Your Life Body Buffer, The Righteous Butter Body Butter, and Glad Hair Day Shampoo. And not forgetting the super-smoothing Body Polisher thrown in as an extra Christmas bonus.

Next is the lovely Winter Wonderhand Set (£8.00) – This trio of hand creams is perfect for those that suffer with dry skin in the winter months. It features Soap & Glory’s award-winning hand cream in their signature, rose-and-bergamot-scented Original Pink. Plus, just for Christmas: Sugar Crush (freshly squeezed sweet lime) and Smoothie Star (almond and sweet vanilla).

And lastly the Clean on Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel (£6.50) – Yes, this is a picture of me on the bottle. I arrived at the Boot’s Christmas Beauty Press event, bedraggled, sweaty after climbing up hundreds of stairs at one of the underground stations (why didn’t I take the lift!?) and rushing across London, and I was just a bit of a mess really. Then the lovely Soap and glory lady convinced me it was a good idea to have my photo taken and put on a bottle of Clean on Me. She promised that black and white was very forgiving, and unfortunately to my disappointment there were no photoshop options available :).  So I went for it, and here I am! I don’t think it turned out too bad in the end really 🙂 If you haven’t tried Clean on Me before, it’s just basically a lovely fragranced body wash –  it does what it says on the bottle!

What a great selection hey! Will you be picking up and Soap and Glory goodies this Christmas?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
